Toro Y Moi
Soul Trash
Chaz Bear, formerly Bundick, grew up in a musically diverse household in South Carolina, drawing influence from artists like Michael Jackson and The Specials. His genre-blending style, shaped by his biracial identity and eclectic taste, earned him a Grammy nomination in 2020 for his collaboration with Flume on "The Difference." Starting with home recordings, Chaz released over 10 Toro y Moi albums independently before joining Carpark Records in 2009. His debut with Carpark, Causers of This, defined a sample-heavy bedroom recording era but was followed by Underneath the Pine, showcasing live instrumentation and Chaz's versatility. Subsequent albums explored psych rock (What For?), R&B (Boo Boo), and vibrant, genre-spanning soundscapes in Outer Peace. In 2019, he teased the experimental mixtape Soul Trash, initially shared via Instagram and later officially released digitally, amassing over 39 million streams. Now available on vinyl, the mixtape reflects Chaz's innovative spirit, blending ambient sounds, lo-fi loops, and collaborations, including work with Elijah Kessler. Throughout his career, Chaz has remained on the cutting edge of music, continually redefining his sound. Available for the first time on vinyl as limited edition 'highlighter yellow' vinyl.
