Parchment Farm
Parchment Farm (black)
Parchment Farm history: Over the course of about five years beginning in late 1968, several musicians living in eastern Missouri rocked the area clubs and festivals with a mix of cover and heavy original songs. The band's name, Parchment Farm, came from a song on Blue Cheer's debut LP, 'Vincebus Eruptum.' Parchment Farm 1.0: According to Mike Watermann, original drummer for Parchment Farm, their first gig was in late 1968. Parchment Farm 1.0 was an opening act for the following: Sons Of Champlin, sometime in early August and/or November 26, 1969 at The Rainy Daze Club (dates for Sons Of Champlin shows are according to a post on The Rainy Daze Facebook page. That Parchment Farm 1.0 was an opening act is per Mike Watermann). Brian Auger & Trinity on July 7, 1970 at The Rainy Daze Club (per Mike Watermann). NOTE: Parchment Farm 1.0 played with another local band, Burlington Route, at The Rainy Daze Club on January 9, 1970. Parchment Farm 2.0: In early 1971, Mike Dulany (RIP) became the drummer and they were, now, a 3-piece band. The development of original songs ramped up and they began playing and recording them right away. Parchment Farm 2.0 was an opening act for the following: ZZ Top on July 29, 1972 at the Airway Drive-In Theater, St. Louis, MO. Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes on October 14, 1971 at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, MO. Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes on January 29, 1972 at the Columbia, MO National Guard. Velvet Underground and Brownsville Station on August 29, 1971 at Fun Valley Lake in Pacific, MO. Parchment Farm 3.0: Sometime in late 1972, Mike Lusher became the drummer and the band added a keyboardist, Cliff King. They expanded the repertoire by playing songs by The Moody Blues, Yes, etc. At some point after February, 1973, Cliff left the band and was replaced by Mike "Scotty" Scott, a young Keith Emerson follower that owned a Moog and played the flute. Parchment Farm 3.0 (presumably with Mike Scott) was an opening act for the following: Canned Heat, The Hollies, and Rare Earth on Sunday, May 27, 1973 in Evansville, Indiana (as reported in the Evansville Press on May 28, 1973). REO Speedwagon on August 18, 1973 at the Rollins Music Festival near Villa Ridge, MO. Parchment Farm disbanded in late 1973.
Dave
Dave Ii
Australian multi-instrumentalist David Gravolin (who brought you ORB, The Frowning Clouds, Hierophants, P.P. Rebel, Cereal Killer) returns with the second cassette for his solo project Dave. Following up on 2019's 'Demo' tape, this release is aptly titled 'Dave II' and spans a 25 minute array of krautrock, '60s psychedelia and hip hop beats. Largely but not entirely instrumental; the second track 'Footfalls' features vocals from Caitlyn Lesiuk, whilst Dave himself appears via his vocoder on tracks like 'Fall In Line' and 'Talk To Meeka.' 'Dave II' could make for the perfect film soundtrack, it could sit in the background of any great skate movie, it could even surface as ideas from a lost Kraftwerk record - especially towards the end of side A. Dave is one of a kind musician. 'Dave II' is a one of a kind release - it sounds very unlike any other music currently coming out. Limited run of 150 cassettes on Anti Fade Records.
Spirit Mother
Trails (black)
Spirit Mother's album 'Trails' brings the energy of the band's visceral, all-in live performances while expanding on the sensibilities of their debut album 'Cadets.' It is the undeniable next chapter in the band's creative process. The darker tonality, heavier, fuzz-fueled riffs, and relentless rhythm section accompanies prolific structure and arrangement. The violin summons a brooding, atmospheric pedestal for the remaining power trio to wield with fervor. Lance's haunting vocals and stark lyricism intersperse the instrumentals with a melody that is as dynamic as it is accessible. It is the culmination of road worn years in pursuit of the art, and the moment-to-moment adrenaline of studio exploration. The album was aged, captured, delivered by Spirit Mother, and brought to the broader public by Heavy Psych Sounds Records.
Shun (usa)
Dismantle
North/South Carolina heavy rock outfit Shun releases their long-awaited 2024 full-length, 'Dismantle.' Shun released their self-titled debut through Small Stone in 2021. Outlaws Of The Sun called the record, "a big adventure (that) takes the listener on an exciting journey within the vastness of progressive rock and stoner metal," while Sentinel Daily likened the record to Foo Fighters, "had they avoided a life of Hollywood openings and celebrity girlfriends, concentrating instead on year after year on the road with COC, Clutch, and Cave In... that's a mighty fine something to sound like." 'Dismantle' continues several crucial threads from the debut in terms of songwriting and the returning production of J. Robbins (who also contributes percussion, guitar, and synth), while expanding their scope with a more refined crunch and drifting, ethereal outreach. It is heavier and paints a broader landscape in Matt Whitehead's vocal and guitar melodies, able to take a prog-metal chug in 'Horses' and reshape it as the backdrop for weighted post-rock while refusing to sap its own vitality in service to shoegazey posturing. For fans of Torche, Cave In, Alice In Chains, Failure, ASG, and huge riffs, pay heed.
GARAGE/BEAT/SURF/ROCK’N’ROLL
Sences
Better Than Before
A year after the release of their debut 7" EP, The Sences strike back with their debut album. 'Better Than Before' contains 12 original compositions, that show their big love for garage and moody sounds of the '60s! It's really impressive to watch these youngsters boldly write and record so many high quality garage songs with such energy and passion, one after the other, like it's the easiest thing in the world! The answer is that The Sences live and breathe those sounds! Their teen angst-ridden songs are influenced by bands that played in clubs on the Sunset Strip such as The Pandora's Box in the '60s like Love, The Chocolate Watchband and early WCPAEB, as well as all the obscure '60s garage bands from the USA suburbs, that we all love. The LP kicks off with 'Don't Care,' the ultimate garage punk anthem of 2024! Tracks like 'No Pain No Sorrow,' 'Either Way' or 'Byrds Won't Fly Today' may have well escaped a teen campus or a college dorm from New England circa 1966 or so, while teen garage stompers like 'She Knocked On My Door,' 'One More Night' and 'My Girl' are filled with raw fuzz, swirling Farfisa, pounding drums and tons of screams. Their LP closes with the mind-blowing acid punk instro 'Psychosis,' that may well have been the main theme of the soundtrack of a mid '60s psychsploitation flick. The Sences don't try hard to look or sound "cool" or "authentic." Actually they "don't care," because they are already cool and authentic! Let The Sences take you to the magical world of their music. It's exactly what garage music should be!
Judges
Guns/(the People Want A) Show
Mere months after releasing their critically acclaimed debut LP 'Judgement Day,' five piece rock & roll group The Judges return with a "seven inch" - a format often utilised and deployed in the lead up prior to album releases, but not in this case - which features two tracks that Judges fans may recognise from their recent concert performances. 'Guns,' a droning groove-meditation on international arms trafficking, imperialism, war, and the utter uselessness/usefulness (?) of using rock & roll as a weapon against the establishment that arguably created and fostered its growth. And '(The People Want A) Show,' an uptempo neo-proto-punk number thematically concerned with the inherent desire of the undiscerning masses to endlessly consume entertainment media of all kinds, including the aforementioned format of rock & roll.
Tambles
In The Hive
'In The Hive' is the third album by Dutch garage rockers The Tambles! Absolute must for fans of the 'Nuggets' series and the likes of late '60s/early '70s Stones or Creedence. Every song a gem, all killers, no fillers!
Ar-kaics
See The World On Fire (at)
Euro version. The Ar-Kaics return with 2024's 'See The World On Fire', the Virginia-based group's first new album in six years. Expect eight tunes of dark, moody, rollicking garage psych not altogether dissimilar from The Ar-Kaics' previous output. Limited to 500 copies in gatefold sleeve.
Hola Ghost
Chupacabra, Hate & Fight (black)
Legendary Danish band Hola Ghost's previously released EP's compiled on a 12-inch vinyl by Svart Records. Includes two bonus tracks. Hola Ghost is probably the only band in the world that combines rock, Mexican folklore, country, flamenco, disco, surf, goth, punk, spaghetti western soundtrack music, pop and psychobilly, in their own unique blend. With their mariachi death surf have attracted a growing cult following around the world since their haunting debut. The band appears with painted skull masks, sombreros and mariachi styled gear. Hola Ghost is an explosive cocktail musically and visually, combining all that you love. Don't miss this dark extravaganza bonanza mariachi death surf.
Street Panther
Muscle Rock
Street Panther is a banger! Pull the top drawer of glam rock, hard rock and throw them against the wall for the most exciting muscle rock album of now! Smart and simple to call this bravura like this! Songs with a tremendous grit that open the hearts of any Slade, Rose Tattoo and '70s Sharpie bands fans! Tune in and be surprised that their ball park is not located in Australia but in Montreal, Canada. But hey, this is double trouble since you may have noticed there must be something in the Quebec Water to write rock songs with huge hooks. This is street rock to rise both first in the air and stomp on the dusty ground. High voltage vocals, killer guitar riffs and scream`em-out chorus lines. This international four-piece thunderstorm of rock and roll untouchables has members of Cheap Fur (US), Dangereens (CAN) and Crusaders Of Love (France). Songs about gangs, disco rivalries, street life, fist fights and motor bikes. Give them Kungfu-movies and a Clockwork Orange Oi-Glory or they are in trouble! 'Muscle Rock' is the most firing terror teen debut album we heard in quite a while, and it smashed quite some clichéd trappings you may heard of. All songs by Street Panther. We party this the years to come.
Hall
Last Days Of Youth
Hall is a doomy, dark garage rock three-piece from Berlin and Leipzig evoking demons and chills down your spine. Made my infatuation with their initial two-piece live show, it has been a goosebumbs fest, us got shivers for the epochal, doomy catchy vocals, pushed forward of the raw force of rhythm section to an pivotal urgency of self destruction. Skip the self-care and funeral hugs! If you bats suck the Misfits blood out of the Hex Dispensers, try to snake out of the evil, muddy swamps of Hall! 'Last Days Of Youth' is their debut album and first release and has eleven originals. Maybe only the grandchildren of German krautrock stoners are made for such an resonating diabolical album about the dark side of the moon and the frightening polycrisis of all and everything.
POP/ROCK/WAVE/NOISE
Motorists
Touched By The Stuff
Motorists' second album had a lengthy gestation period, written in the year following their 2021 self-produced debut, 'Surrounded,' which Allmusic described as "an abundance of thoughtfully arranged hooks." In the six months leading to their recording sessions for 'Touched By The Stuff,' the band picked up the pace, with both Learoyd and Fahner barely sneaking songs under the wire. Instrumentals were recorded live off the floor, before the trio ran wild with overdubs, weaving organs, vibraphones, and handclaps into their mellifluous harmonies. Inspired by the big shiny tunes flooding FM radio airwaves in the 1990s, Toronto trio Motorists go full throttle on their sophomore album. Now propelled by powerhouse drummer Nick Mckinlay, guitarist Craig Fahner and bassist Matt Learoyd channel stadium-sized power-pop through the gauzy fuzz of '90s alt rock, like Big Star swerving into Hotline TNT.
Tours
Language School/foreign Girls
The Tours were an English new wave/power pop band from Poole, Dorset, founded in the late '70s during the punk era. The band consisted of Richard Mazda, Ronnie Mayor, Steve Jeff and Mark Spiers. They were unusual because there were two songwriters and two lead singers, Richard Mazda singing his own songs and Ronnie Mayor singing his. Virgin, Polydor/Fiction, EMI, Sire and other record labels were interested in signing them and the band ultimately signed to Virgin, but in 1980, there was a dispute between the group, the record label and the band themselves, before the ensemble split and members went their own way. According to various sources, John Peel played the band's self-released 'Language School' single for 50 consecutive nights (!!!) on Radio 1 in 1979, declaring it at the time his second favourite single of all time behind the Undertones 'Teenage Kicks.' Although 'Language School' was predominantly played by Peel, he also played their only other single, 'Tourist Information.' Despite the band being short lived, Peel did revisit them after the '70s, especially in the early '00s, when he played their 'Language School' song on his shows. 1980 should have been Tours' year. Boasting a killer live show and incredible strength in depth, they had a seemingly endless collection of two-minute pop classics. Yet the band were doomed never to make it to 1980, torn apart by a conflict of egos and by a deep mistrust of industry dabbling with the band's line-up and sound. Only one single on Virgin was ever released - the mighty 'Tourist Information.' Having sold 13,000 copies of 'Language School' under their own steam, it seemed obvious that a company like Virgin would do better. In the event, their efforts to promote 'Tourist Information" were pathetic. (Excerpt taken from Retroman65.blogspot.com). After a very long time of preparation it is finally here, the reissue of the classic and now very expensive single, as close as possible to the original, but with extensive liner notes and never before published photos in an four page booklet. Limited to 500 copies.
PUNK/HARDCORE
Extreme Noise Terror
The Original Holocaust (it/black)
THE UNISSUED ORIGINAL RECORDING FOR THEIR DEBUT ALBUM 'A HOLOCAUST IN YOUR HEAD'! How many bands can say they had multiple debut albums? For crustcore sound terrorists Extreme Noise Terror, 'A Holocaust In Your Head - The Original Holocaust,' the first recording version, continues to excuse itself in being reissued for what must be the last time before the last time. It's no wonder why. 'We The Helpless' is every bit as hopeless as it sounds - a blitzkrieg of wails and nightmarish sonics that tighten themselves around the temples until the eyes turn white. 'Statement' will always stand on its own two feet as a perfect set opener and 'Innocence To Ignorance's unhinged atmospheric armageddon as well as 'Use Your Mind's sample-sprung assault on the senses are possible indications of where the band could've wound up had their line-up not been walking such a shaky tightrope. Rough as hell? Sure. But if you want to know what it feels like to have the signal input of your skull reflect a separation in the grounding circuit of the flesh from the neck down, then carry on screaming. Poster included.
Extreme Noise Terror
A Holocaust In Your Head (black)
Away from the grandeur, and although their line-up history is full of potholes - the key to unlock this classic release by Extreme Noise Terror, 'A Holocaust In Your Head' is the double-edged vocal prongs from ENT founders Phil Vane and Dean Jones and the black-avalanche guitars of Steve Hurley (not forgetting the drum stool occupied by Mick Harris, soon to be of Scorn during the recording of this album, and Doom's Tony "Stick" Dickens). 'Statement' is as good as any opening gambit for a band - a trail of sludge setting fire to itself consuming the raw, political ashtray mantras spewed into its thick, corrosive grip. 'Another Nail In The Coffin' suitably devastating the senses as a wrecking ball swings from its chain into the side of a condemned building, brick by brick. Eaten. Buried. Poster included.
Hood Rats
Crime, Hysteria And Useless Information
Together with Dirt Cult Records from Texas, Bachelor Records pressed 500 of this hard hitting, fast paced punk rocker! It is a dirty rock and roll trick to combine speed and catchy phrases, wrap them up in just enough craziness to let this punk rock train not come off the rails! Some say it is a Zeke/Dwarves offspring, some say French oi! Has paired up with HC punk. Take a listen and you will soon be pumping up the volume of your hi-fi or alexa (whatever you kids use these days) and the car alarms in the surrounding area will go OFF!
Aino & Hajonneet
Enemman Kuin Mitaan Muuta
'Enemmän Kuin Mitään Muuta' is the third album by Finnish melodic punk and power pop band Aino & Hajonneet.
INDUSTRIAL/EXPERIMENTAL/NOISE/NEOFOLK/GOTHIC
Hurtado, Marc -& Mark Cunningham-
Infini
'Infini' is the result of a meeting between Marc Hurtado, known for his duo project Étant Donnés created in 1977, from the French experimental and industrial music scene, and Mark Cunningham from the New York no wave scene since the end of the '70s, under the entity Mars and compiled by Brian Eno in 'No New York.' The 'Infini' album was born in 2020 and completed in 2023. This particular project is a kind of 360° astral voyage, at the speed of light, carried away by the grace, madness, fire and kaleidoscopic whirlwind of the telescoping of the two artists' burning souls. Against a backdrop of Mark Cunningham's trumpet, bass and guitar, Marc Hurtado lays down his noisy drones and bewitching vocals, sealing and constructing an edifice whose stones seem to be cut and refined like diamonds. The atmosphere is psychedelic, cosmic, vaporous and blindingly dark. 'Infini' is the sound of blood, the blood of sound, a shattering mirror of fire, a wave of light in the sky, a path, a voice, a silence, a cry.
Lysistrata
Veil (black)
Alt-rock trio Lysistrata has crafted their third album with remarkable agility. Produced by Ben Greenberg (Metz, DIIV, Beach Fossils...), 'Veil' is an album written to dance, sing, scream and experience emotions to the fullest. A unifying album that will resonate well beyond the inner circle of the band's devoted fans.
METAL/STONER/HARDROCK
Alunah
Fever Dream (black)
With their third album on Heavy Psych Sounds Records, Alunah have wasted no time in a post-pandemic haze since their last release, balancing being on the European festival circuit alongside touring the UK. However, in a Birmingham rehearsal room away from the outside world, everyday life and online noise, their 2024 full length 'Fever Dream' has been quietly brewing waiting to see the light of day. Forged from a period of extensive jamming and soul searching 'Fever Dream' digs into the core of what makes Alunah tick, being in a room together making the music they want to hear. Recorded during the winter of 2024, the atmosphere of the historic Foel Studio allows groove to flow alongside riff, heft and melody in equal measure. The brooding progressive majesty of the title track, the eastern soundscape of 'Sacred Grooves' and the doom and roll of 'Far From Reality' each highlight the album's ability to surprise and deliver in equal measure throughout the emotive journey of its nine tracks. Let yourself fall deep into the 'Fever Dream.'
Grave Pleasures
Motherblood (black)
There are still those rare bands out there in the world that have a unique ability to combine macabre, mystifying rock with a more pop-oriented flare, a la early Bowie or early The Cure. Grave Pleasures are such a band that is equally suited for playing on a stadium stage, or in some Lynchian nightmare. It's that duality and electrifying contradiction that makes their music so exhilarating. Lead guitarist Juho Vanhanen (Oranssi Pazuzu) steps up to write the majority of the songs together with British-born outcast Mat McNerney (Hexvessel, ex- Beastmilk/DHG/Code). His screaming telecaster and unique interplay of discord and harmony has become a trademark of the band's sound. Together with guitarist Aleksi Kiiskilä (ex- Kohu 63), their strings shimmer, hammer and howl out a web of sound which is distinctly Grave Pleasures. Fleshed out by the hypnotic signature rhythms of Valtteri Arino (ex- Beastmilk) on bass and Rainer Tuomikanto frenetically pounding the funeral drums (Ajattara, ex- Shining Swe), this group of well-established punks have started to reach up to their zenith on their sordid testament Motherblood. Featuring guest vocals from David Tibet from Current 93, the band sets the tone for their inspirations, from the esoteric underground of England's hidden reverse to Manchester's sound of misery. With their own metallic raw tone clashed with pop hooks, 'Motherblood' is a furiously passionate and contemporary record, which re-defines post-punk as a "war-cry for the eternally doomed." They have been described as "a post-punk wet dream," or perhaps more honestly as "bat-shit lunatics," and their music is in a funereal world of its own. 'Motherblood' is a truly danceable, pop-feast of raw, banging pleasure - in all its primitive, gothic tribalism. Dance-floor death rock that brings with it an uncanny sense of inspired song craft that made Bowie's 'Berlin' era sound so fresh and revolutionary, Killing Joke's tribal anthems so desperately ominous and dark throbbing melancholy of Depeche Mode's atmospheric pop so damn sexy. Just about every part of this record bleeds menace, or emanates nuclear fumes. It's unsafe territory which in turn makes it thrilling, sexy and most dangerously of all, catchy.
SOUL/FUNK/LATIN/R&B/GOSPEL
Los Misticos/the Mediators
Soul Jeronimo/the Mediators Thing
In case you missed the first round, the 'Walk On' series is a celebration of Panama's largely undocumented psychedelic Latin rock scene. Spread across seven 45s, in collaboration with Tamayo Records, Discodelic is proud to bring you 14 selections from a dozen rock outfits of that era and area (all of which have never been issued outside of Panama) to uplift and eulogize the small but fervent rock and roll scene of the Panama Canal Zone. Once all seven 45s are launched, an accompanying book will also be made available that details Panama's incredibly unique and scrappy rock history, with in-depth write-ups and interviews with many of the musicians whose work appears as part of this effort. However, it must be noted that, because these recordings were made almost 50 years ago, contacting members from some of the featured acts was incredibly difficult if not unsuccessful. Many bands (like in the case of Los Misticos and The Meditators) only ever recorded one 45, and because the recording ledgers did not survive to the present, names and contacts have been lost to time. Hence, we are currently unable to tell their story.
Conjunto Raza/the Scepters
African Dream/the Message
The Scepters were a band from the Paraíso province, a township just north of the Panama Canal's Pedro Miguel Locks. Guitarist Celso Spencer initiated the group in Paraíso High School in 1967, and it featured Celso as lead guitarist, Lionel Best on rhythm guitar and bass, Lorenzo Anderson on drums, and José James on woodwind instruments. Celso, Lionel, and James all rotated as vocalists. They first got their start performing for American soldiers at different military bases, running through the Teen Clubs circuit, and playing at different high school dances throughout the Canal Zone. The band would mainly perform Top 40 hits of the day, along with covers of rock and roll acts like Santana and Jimi Hendrix, eventually releasing two 45s on the Taboga label, including 'Message,' which was written by José James and first performed at Panama's first National Soul Music Festival in 1971. They'd continue to tour and perform throughout the Canal Zone until they broke up in 1972. Conjunto Raza is another of Agustín Leiro's side projects (whose work with Cizaña was featured in the first round of the 'Walk On' reissues) and consisted of an ever-shifting constellation of Zonian and Panamanian musicians, all of whom met and played together at The Golden Key bar in Panama City during the early 1970s. Though the roster often changed, their only known 45 single, first released on the Onda Nueva label sometime between 1973 and 1975 (an exact date is unfortunately unavailable), presumably features Leiro on guitar and lead vocals, Julio Sosa on keys, Guillermo Franco on congas, Ruben Lachman on bass, and Jorge Carrizo on drums. Several of the participants of this recording are known to have performed with other rock ensembles throughout the Canal Zone, including Almafuerte and Hot Apple Pie.

Lawa
Manifestation
The soundtrack to your electronic nightmare! In the Covid years, Lawa not only composed 'Manipulation' (Cine 27, 2022) and the sister album 'Instrumentalisation' (Cine 28, 2023) - more music was also created for a documentary, which for various reasons has not yet been completed. This music contains one side of the album 'Manifestation' and was completed with further pieces from 2023. In addition to various original compositions, Leonard + Wank also created a version of the title theme from the Italian horror film 'Nuda Per Satana' and made it their own, so to speak only the basic melody, of which the original song actually consists exclusively, was created into a complete song with a beat. Limited to 200 copies on red/black mixed coloured vinyl.

Dobranotch
Vander Ikh Mir Lustik
2023 was not an easy year for Dobranotch, the Klezmer band from Saint Petersburg: After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, part of the ensemble left the country and settled in exile in Germany. It was not an easy decision for the musicians. "We left behind family, friends, and fans without the certainty of ever seeing them again," writes the band. Half of the members remained in Russia. Now, Dobranotch presents another album, 'Vander Ikh Mir Lustik,' which was recorded in Germany with a new lineup. An additional instrument has been added: alongside the violin, clarinet, saxophone, banjo, tuba, and drums, a dulcimer now finds its deserved place on stage. With this album, Dobranotch emphasizes their roots and impresses with a lively mix of Jewish, Moldavian, Russian, Roma, Caucasian, Ukrainian, and Serbian traditional melodies and songs in Yiddish and Russian. A special feature is the Klezmer version of the US classic 'In The Pines,' which recalls the blues background of bandleader Mitia Khramtsov. Dobranotch also loves to experiment: in the song 'Skotchne,' they integrate drum & bass elements into their Klezmer sounds.
