Velocity Girl
Ultracopacetic
Velocity Girl's long out-of-print 1993 debut album 'Copacetic' is back with a new band-approved mix and bonus tracks, including singles, outtakes, and their 1993 Peel Session. Formed in 1989 at the University of Maryland, the band blended English shoegaze with U.S. indie rock and '60s pop. They signed with Sub Pop in 1992 and recorded 'Copacetic' with Bob Weston, but felt the final product was too stripped-down compared to their vision. In 2023, the band revisited the original tapes, and guitarist Archie Moore remixed the album to capture what they originally intended. The result, 'UltraCopacetic,' offers a more cohesive, powerful version of the record, featuring enhanced vocals, guitars, and drums. The expanded release also includes refreshed versions of their other studio material from the era and their full 1993 Peel Session, making 'UltraCopacetic' the definitive edition of their debut.
