Psychedelic Gems, Vol. 7

Excerpts from the 7th German Beat Festival in the Vestlandhalle in Recklinghausen, on March 1 and 8, 1970. The name beat festival was an anachronism then because most bands there already played progressive, psychedelia, and blues-rock in that year. So the CD has bands only of that genres: Join In from Marl, Reaction from Hamburg, the Mystic Eyes from Hanover, Smiling Understatement II from Bonn-Beuel, and the Firestone Group from Haltern. Four of the twelf tracks are self-written, the others are cover versions (by Pink Floyd, Canned Heat, The Nice, Cream, The Pretty Things, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, etc.). The col. booklet of 32 pages presents all bands with stories and photographs, plus a festival story.
