This Cecil Taylor CD includes the incredible performance from the Newport Jazz Festival on July 2, 1965. The entire WKCR-FM broadcast is included, along with a full coloured 8-page booklet with background liners and many rare archival photographs. Undoubtedly the most radical piano voice to emerge from the contemporary jazz and contemporary classical scenes in the twentieth century, Cecil Taylor's appearance at the 1965 Newport Jazz Festival was a triumph. Featuring his long-time collaborators Steve Lacy on soprano sax and Denis Charles on drums the ensemble is completed by hard-bop stalwart Donald Byrd and bassist Wendell Marshall.
