Stupeflip
Stup Forever
It is with his muscles tensed under his mask that Stupeflip returns to business. The evidence is once again brought to light by King-Ju (a.k.a Julien Barthélémy), standing on what remains of a France and a world in disarray: Stup will never die, you hear. 'Stup Forever' is the title of this fifth album which recalls the age-old power of this project carried out, proudly and with red eyes since 2000, by a man of whom we will never emphasize to what extent he is an exception, In the proper sense of the term. Not far from being one of its most interesting, there is on this album everything that made the Stup salt, in the disorder: the determination, the melody, the banter, the humor, the beats in cherry trees, a dreamlike universe, and above all this desire to continue to put one's pointy foot in the buttocks of those who ruin our existence, on a small and large scale (stupid bosses, atrocious neighbors, shitty family, morons that we you meet in the queue at the store, a lousy friend, lost charlatans, farted presidents). With the virtuosity of one of his idols, the great American indie filmmaker John Carpenter, King-Ju stages in his music this world which goes off the rails with this freshness which belongs to him, summoning on lyrics always warlike the influences that he masters better than anyone: '90s rap, rock that doesn't shy away from the guitar and a certain idea of acid pop. It's beautiful, it's new: it's 'Stup Forever'!
