Studio
West Coast
Studio, the Swedish duo of Dan Lissvik and Rasmus Hägg, made waves with their 2006 debut 'West Coast,' blending Balearic romanticism with krautrock, disco, dub, and Afrobeat, topped with new wave lyricism. Praised as "the missing link between The Cure and Lindstrom" and likened to Durutti Column and Can, their sound influenced a new wave of electronic and psychedelic indie music. Initially released as a small vinyl-only run, the album remains largely absent from streaming platforms but is celebrated as a timeless, genre-defying work. Inspired by diverse influences like DJ Screw, J Dilla, and Joy Division, the duo embraced a boundary-free approach, crafting music without the constraints of Sweden's 1990s music identity. Though they faded from the spotlight after remixing artists like Kylie Minogue, both artists now see 'West Coast' as their defining legacy and a lasting testament to creative freedom. Released on black vinyl.
