Stuart, Lauren
Meets The Monkberry Moon Orchestra
Lauren Stuart draws inspiration from the incessant flow of time and from the people met along the way. Intimate folk songs, grassroots indie pop, psychedelic ascents: acoustic guitars are always in the background, and so are the shadows of Mark Oliver Everett, Neil Hannon, Stuart Murdoch and Elliott Smith. The artistic collective behind Lauren Stuart varies in scope and membership, but revolves around François Serin. Lauren published a first album written, played and recorded entirely DIY in 2007 ('The Golden State Of Mind') and a second, darker and more introspective work in 2013 ('The Book Of Love'). In 2015, upon meeting The Monkberry Moon Orchestra from Geneva, Lauren Stuart began composing this album, described as having a broader palette of colors.
