Satin Whale
History Box 2 (3cd)
Cologne-based progressive rock band Satin Whale, influenced by acts like Jethro Tull and Deep Purple, quickly developed a distinctive sound. Despite being labeled as krautrock in the early 1970s, their 1974 debut album 'Desert Places' showcased their originality, earning them the title of Germany's most popular band in Südwestfunk's 'Rocksound 74' contest. The band released five studio albums between 1974 and 1981, compiled in the retrospective 'History Box I - The Studio Albums.' A second retrospective, 'Soundtrack, Live & Alternative Mixes,' highlights their work on the 'Die Faust In Der Tasche' soundtrack, the live album Whalecome, and remixes from 'On Tour.' Satin Whale disbanded in 1981, with members pursuing separate paths.
