Here's an interesting 1988 recording from NYC-based sax player Lenny Pickett, known from a.o. Tower Of Power, as the leader of the 'Saturday Night Live' band and recordings of David Bowie, Link Wray, Madonna, Talking Heads and many others. 'Bad Dreams' contains a sprawling and grand composition set against rhythmic repetition that shares characteristics with Arthur Russell's instrumentals, and the waves of minimalism that were crashing on modern music during the early '80s.
