Pearly Queen
Quit Jive' In/jungle Walk
Introducing a reissue of a rare 7-inch funk treasure by Miami-based Cuban rock band Pearly Queen. Featuring the infectious 'Quit Jive' In' and a funk-rock cover of The Rascals' 'Jungle Walk,' this 1974 double-header is mid-'70s funk at its finest. Originally released on Manuel J. Mato's Sound Triangle Records, the single gained fame in the '90s thanks to DJs like Keb Darge and Jazzman Gerald, and its inclusion in DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist's Brainfreeze. DJ Shadow also sampled its iconic breaks on his track 'The Number Song' from 'Endtroducing...' Written by Ray Fernandez, 'Quit Jive' In' is a swaggering funk anthem with heavy breaks and punchy horns. The B-side, 'Jungle Walk,' is a Tarantino-worthy, groove-laden cover of Buzzy Feiten's 1972 original. This elusive gem finally returns for fans and collectors alike.
