Coming a year after Neighbours debut 7-inch on Get Hip, 'Prime Numbers' is a proper debut for the Pittsburgh four-piece - a collection of 12 rock tunes that range from snotty to sweet to soulful. The band shows that it can keep it reined-in on soft love songs like 'What Did You Say?' but lets it all out on the punk-inflected 'All The Time' (a The Jam-style anthem). Singer Michael Cunningham shows off soul-shouter vocals on 'Real Talk,' and the rhythm section bares its raw power on the rocker 'Green Shoes.' Neighbours aren't following trends; they're writing catchy new tunes that reflect elements of the classics of rock while avoiding simply replicating the past.
