Hours after learning of Sinéad O'Connor's passing in July 2023 and amidst a Detroit storm, Nova penned the album's title track, inspired by O'Connor's courage. Working with Tom Schick at Wilco's Loft in Chicago, she recorded raw demos and layered pianos, guitars, and bass herself, creating an intimate, genre-blending album. 'Fight The Real Terror' stands as a call to action, urging listeners to face fears and embrace vulnerability through Nova's powerful vocals and transformative sound.
