Mayall, John -'s Bluesbreakers-
The Power Of Blues Part Ii
Recorded live in Germany - April, 1987. John Mayall, who passed away on July 22, 2024, at age 90, left an indelible mark on blues music. While an accomplished harmonica player, keyboardist, and guitarist, his true genius lay in his extraordinary bandleading skills. His 1960s band, The Bluesbreakers, became a springboard for legendary musicians like Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, and Mick Taylor, among others, who went on to shape rock and blues history.Mayall achieved several chart successes in the 1960s, including the seminal Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton. However, the 1970s brought challenges, with record deals becoming scarce despite his consistent live performances. A 1982 reunion with former members rejuvenated him, leading to a new Bluesbreakers lineup in 1984 featuring Walter Trout and Coco Montoya, who praised Mayall's unparalleled bandleading talent. Though this lineup eventually disbanded, Mayall's legacy as a mentor and innovator in blues remains unrivaled, with his influence echoing through the countless musicians he inspired.
