Lykes Of Yew
Mr. Wednesday/paris Heights
Formed in the Folkestone area in the South East of England in the Autumn of 2007, The Lykes Of Yew have already caused quite a stir with their twisted blues and punked folk rock, building up a strong local fan base and performing regularly across the South of England for the last 2 years. Originally a duo taking a lead from the English Folk & Blues artists of the 60s, theyve morphed into a gritty rock n roll band, with a big stage presence and a raw, earthy sound. Their debut single for State Records features a driving melodic rocker "Mr Wednesday", with catchy choruses and choppy riffs sure to catch the ear. The flip side, "Paris Heights", is a sleazy blues strut, featuring dual vocals and Fender twang with a sound reminiscent of The Birthday Party jamming in a bar with Jet Harris and The Doors! The Lykes Of Yew are sure to set feet tapping and heads nodding!
