Franken, Rob -electrification-
Colours & Images
Available again. Fifth issue in a series of 6 LP's containing unreleased and unheard studio sessions recorded in the mid seventies around the illustrious Dutch keyboard player Rob Franken. Featuring Fredinand Povel, Jiggs Wigham, Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen, Joop Scholten, Jan Huydts, John Lee and Gerry Brown. Franken played in more than just Dutch jazz-circles. People who worked with him describe him as a slightly introvert, but purely musical sorcerer. He had great influence on the people he worked with, not only the younger, but also the elder, like Toots Thielemans for instance, with whom he toured Europe for several years. Rob Franken liked to experiment with new instruments, and was the first person in Holland who made good use of the electric Fender Rhodes piano. Sadly, he died too young, at the age of 42.
