Eater
No Brains/jeepster
Eater were one of the original 1976 punk bands alongside the Sex Pistols, the Clash and the Damned and beloved of fans such as Henry Rollins (Black Flag), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Ian Mackaye (Minor Threat and Fugazi) and bizarrely UK TV personality Jonathan Ross. 'No Brains' was originally mooted as the band's second single before being shelved. 'Jeepster' was their souped up T.Rex cover on the flip of their third single 'Lock It Up'. These are never heard before remixed and remastered tracks with missing guitar overdubs from 1978 from the recently discovered original Sex Pistols producer Dave Goodman's master tapes and show a band with remarkable maturity and playing for their young ages with some deft guitar touches that Goodman inexplicably left off the final official released mixes. In addition, the trebly sound that marked Goodman's production of the band has been restored to its original hard hitting bass frequency making these songs zing and punch with a new urgency and power!! Featuring Andy Blade on vocals, Ian Woodcock on bass (later the Vibrators), Brian Chevette on guitar and on drums the 14 year old Dee Generate and Phil Rowland (Studio Sweethearts and Slaughter & The Dogs) respectively. This pressing is limited to 750 copies on purple vinyl and lyric sheet with an artists repro of the discarded original cover of the band tucking into a pigs head on the Abbey Road zebra crossing.
