Fire Fire

Flora Adams recorded this outstanding vocal for Winston Jones' Brooklyn based Flames label at S&S Sound Studio in Canarsie in the mid-1970s, backed by Flames' in house band. 'Fire Fire' is based on Tina Charles' disco hit 'You Set My Heart On Fire,' with the then-teenage member of the Nairobi Sisters making the lyrics entirely her own through a searingly raw and heartfelt vocal. On the flip the Rough Riders' solid rocksteady-influenced instrumental is injected with sharply delayed pieces of horns and vocal cuts to great effect.
