BLACK WIDOW		 FERTILITY CULT - A SONG OF ANGER

Founded in late 2008 and hailing from Tampere, Finland, the band has been noted for their unique sound and songwriting style ever since the release of their debut full length 'Eschatology' in 2010. The band have continued to perfect their sound to an "esoteric level" (Progarchives.com), with depths of doom and crests of heavy metal interspersed with psychedelic and jazzier forays laced with saxophone. "I love the way the band contrasts light and dark" (Apocalypse Later Music). Playing live only sporadically, The Fërtility Cült is known as an intense live act. The band returned to play the classic 'Dream Of Dr. Sardonicus Festival Of Psychedelia' in Cardigan, Wales for the second time in 2024. 'A Song Of Anger' is the most complete concept album the band has conceived. It's a thematic prequel to its predecessor 'Kosmodysseia,' which was dubbed "close to perfection" by Desibeli.net. The album is recorded predominantly live in the studio as has been the methodology with previous outings also. Many of the band's old friends feature as guests on the album: the band's original guitarist Arttu Kimmel (lead guitar on 'The Curse Of The Atreides'), Antti Loponen (lead guitar on 'Fame Everlasting') of Consciousness Removal Project, Minttu Tervaharju (lead vocals on 'Briseis,' backup vocals on 'A Song Of Anger'), formerly of Ochre Room, who did backup vocals for the debut album, Markus Pajakkala (soprano saxophone on 'A Song Of Anger') of Utopianisti and recently Von Herzen Brothers, as well as Pete Bingham (spoken word on 'A Song Of Anger') of Sendelica.

"'Halki Pilvien' (transl. through the clouds) brings exactly what one expects from the clouds. It is a collection of soft and gentle movements, as playful as a 'Jan Anderzén type of music' is always. A collection of patterns that solidify for just a brief moment in time, before sublimating in the back of the mind. This album is in constant motion. Push play. A warped piano and cartoonish SFX's might foretell a hyperreal approach to music. Yet while the champion of hyperrealism, Noah Creshevsky, describes his music as being written in a language we already understand (realism) yet in an exaggerated manner (hyper) - I have to add that things on this album do not sound exaggerated at all. Moreover, I have the feeling that somehow on this work, Jan is trying to underwhelm us. In the best possible way. Because clouds float trough and dissolve. Thus instead of hyperrealism, is Jan maybe speaking to us in a certain Serenerealism? Or Mildrealism? What Jan's music does have in common with Creshevsky's is the no rush part. Listening to 'Halki Pilvien' makes time non-directional. The music seems to be designed to be played over and over again. This music has no direct impact like one can experience at a punk show, or at a classical music concert. This music is not that one gigantic raincloud covering the world dark. Quite the opposite, it is a pattern of clouds and clearings, floating over the lands. Trough this music a shadow play appears. This music is durable. Few bands carry the weight of history with such light-footed grace as Träd, Gräs och Stenar. More than just a group, they are a living conduit for the currents of collective expression, resistance, and transcendence that have defined Sweden's underground music landscape since the late 1960s. Their sound-raw, organic, and untamed-has pulsed through decades, defying the strictures of genre and time, thriving in the liminal space between rock's primal drive and the fluidity of communal improvisation. This live recording from Club 19 in Pori, Finland, captures the band in full flight in 2005, decades after their first sonic explorations with Pärson Sound, International Harvester, and the earliest incarnations of TGS. The lineup on this night - Bo Anders Persson (guitar & vocal), Mera Gartz (drums & vocal), Torbjörn Abelli (bass), and Jakob Sjöholm (guitar) - represents the last iteration of the classic group before Abelli's passing in 2010, making this document all the more poignant. The performance itself is a masterclass in controlled chaos, with molten guitar lines, hypnotic yet groovy bass figures, and percussive mantras that stretch like a breathing organism. Träd, Gräs och Stenar's music has always been deeply ritualistic, built not only on the architectures of conventional song structures, but on the trust and intuition of musicians locked in an unspoken dialogue. Here, that dialogue unfolds in expansive jams that nod to both traditional rock motifs and cosmic freeform explorations. Pori has long held a special place in the world of leftfield music, with its history as a stronghold for Finnish jazz, "erikoismusiikki" and experimental rock, and this night at Club 19 was no exception. The audience, no doubt attuned to the deeper resonances of trance-inducing repetition and distortion-washed musique, became part of the experience-a key participant in the feedback loop between musician and listener. Originally recorded by Aki Peltonen in 2005 and given a careful restoration by his son Tyko Tuulivaara, this release benefits from the sonic expertise of Jussi Lehtisalo (Circle), ensuring that every note, drone, and ecstatic climax is rendered to its vividest detail. The visual aspects of the record-assembled by Musta kirahvi using the original 2005 concert poster he made-further cements the feeling of temporal flux. Listening to Live at Club 19 is more than just experiencing a TGS concert through a physical medium; it is a reminder of music's ability to exist beyond the constraints, beyond expectation, or ego. It is the sound of four musicians surrendering to the moment, channeling something way older and way wilder than themselves personally, leaving behind a trail of sonic stardust that still burns slowly in contemporary rock-based music nearly two decades later. Steve had been making electronic sounds with his audio generator since the early 1970s, when as a teenager he was influenced by Tangerine Dream, Hawkwind and Gong. In the 1980s, as a keyboard player and guitarist, he was part of the then underground electronic music scene in the UK and in the 1990s he was signed to the progressive rock music label Cyclops Records who released four albums of his prog and space rock instrumental music. In 2016 Steve met with the legendary Nik Turner, a founder member of the space rock group Hawkwind, and they discussed working on an album together. This is the second album of the Trance Dimensionals, but sadly Nik Turner passed away during the making of this album. The reinterpreted traditional folk songs that make up 'Cold Blows The Rain' are shaped by the land and the weather. Wrapped in mist and drizzle, the crawling drone of low heavy clouds on flat-top moors. The sound of the dark Calder Valley floor and sun starved hills in West Yorkshire in the North of England. The experimental musician invites the ghosts in for the classic folk songs that make up her stunning new album. Having hired the town's Oddfellow's Hall to record these new songs in the late summer of 2022. The songs that make up 'Cold Blows The Rain' are not made for the sunlight. They come, instead, wrapped in mist and coated with drizzle, those elements shaping the album as much as the voice and the instruments held within, as real but ambiguous as the ghosts that linger in the shadows. The sound of the dark valley floor. Underpinned by waves of analogue reverb, and led by Bridget's stirring and weather-beaten voice, the songs on 'Cold Blows The Rain' drift and crawl like low heavy clouds on flat-top hills, shaped by the land. The backdrop is equally as arresting, all subtle gloom cast in shadow, a gentle but pronounced swirling of textures, crafted from harmonium and violin courtesy of The Apparitions (Sam McLoughlin and Dan Bridgewood-Hill). "The weather speaks the most eloquently about human loss," Bridget says, articulating such sentiments. "It's good to feel enveloped by something so much vaster than ourselves. The 2 Tone sound was a great period in the aftermath of punk and included influences taken from Jamaican ska. Mal-One had already worked on some 2 Tone collages and had them put aside for some future project. He thought it would be fun to record some tracks related to these images and sounds. The first track he recorded was an instrumental track in the style of Harry J All Stars 'Liquidator' which he called 'Rude Boy Shuffle.' Initially to be put out as a stand alone track on some reggae label of some sort. He had a poem already which he called 'Two Tone Story,' so put that on top of the 'Ska Train Is Back In Town' rhythm which he had put together for another song of that name. Finally 'Rude Boys And Rude Girls Listen Up!' came together. Adding to this a couple of dub mixes and we have a 6 track 12". Mal-One thought the artwork worked better on a 12" format. Contains a 12" signed and embossed art print.

'HISTORY OF EAST EUROPEAN PUNK ROCK' - The Eastern Bloc, also known as the Communist Bloc, the Socialist Bloc, and the Soviet Bloc, was the coalition of communist states of Eastern Europe that were aligned with the Soviet Union and existed during the Cold War (1947-1991). The resulting states aspired to total control of a political center backed by an extensive and active repressive apparatus, and a central role of Marxist-Leninist ideology. 50 years ago young band called The Ramones in fact became the first punk band due to them fulfilling the criteria of the sound, the style and the attitude. Another 50 years have passed and after an unbelievable long time East European punk rock finally found their way into vinyl records series inspired by classic compilations like 'Killed By Death' and 'Bloodstains Across...'. Before punk rock entered East Europe a few bands existed who are now considered proto-punk or these bands influenced the very first punk bands with their music, energy and attitude. So before first issue of classic punk bands here on number #0 you will find various "proto" bands which were created during authoritarian regime and gave rebellion and strength to young punks to form their own bands.
