Originally recorded in 1969, Peppermint Records presents the previously lost Glass Harp album 'Where Did My World Come From?' for the first time officially released. Although only two songs ('Where Did My World Come From,' and 'She Told Me') were ever released in their time, the rest of the recordings have been bootlegged and circulated for years, though none of these were transferred from the original masters. Now, the staff of Peppermint issues these recordings officially for the first time from the original masters! Assumed to be lost for good, Glass Harp's guitarist and vocalist Phill Keaggy accidentally stumbled upon the box with the masters when looking for tapes for another project. Glass Harp's dynamic range and energetic performances in their music takes the listener on an emotional journey through the delicate acoustic ballads to the more driving rock songs. Due to high demand, Svart Records releases the represses of Wigwam's early works on vinyl once again. The Finnish legends in Wigwam are no strangers to fans of progressive rock around the world. Their debut album 'Hard N' Horny' from 1969 and the following 'Tombstone Valentine' from 1970 are a couple of cornerstones among many in their impeccable discography. The previous Svart editions of these absolute classics by the pioneers of early progressive rock date back to 2019, so it was about time to bring back these must-haves to the market.
'Hard N' Horny' started the legacy of Wigwam. The album's A-side is jazzy, early prog-rock by the keyboardist Jukka Gustavson, with an exception on the first track written by the original bass player Mats Huldén. Lots of heavy organ, jazzy piano, and some vocal parts by Gustavson. The B-side is '60s psychedelia written by the British-born vocalist Jim Pembroke. It consists of songs about a man called Henry, together forming a mini rock opera. Edition on magenta vinyl.

Even after becoming one of Hollywood's biggest stars, Bridges spent all his free time jamming and recording with a trusted circle of musicians composed of childhood friends, artists, and assorted L.A. oddballs. Imagine The Band playing at CBGB with The Exploding Plastic Inevitable. Or Arthur Russell and the Talking Heads collaborating on a suite of mutant disco. Though Bridges and his friends were brought up around the movie industry, they decided to create their own private musical universe, where they could be as weird as they wanted. Their music opens a portal to a hidden world of outlandish creativity and camaraderie in 1970s Los Angeles. It's the missing piece of his musical evolution, revealed here for the first time in all its joyful abandon.

'WILLEM DE RIDDER & THE RADIO ART FOUNDATION PRESENT RADIOLA' -
Between 1978 and 1984, Fluxus artist Willem de Ridder did a weekly radio show called De Radiola Improvisatie Salon. Listeners were invited to send in cassettes recorded at home and would get guaranteed air-time. Willem never listened to any of the tapes in advance. No censorship or personal taste were involved, just total artistic freedom. Long before social media existed, he understood that just providing a platform could ignite boundless creativity. Willem was a visionary, always pushing the boundaries of art and mainstream culture, while his interactive radio shows were breaking down the barriers between listeners and producers. Unknown home tapers and independent artists would share their freshly recorded bedroom experiments with the world and Radiola became a catalyst for the rising Dutch tape scene. When the show gained popularity, broadcasts became open to the public and people would visit the salon to submit their latest cassettes in person. From these live events a network of independent labels emerged, releasing and exchanging cassettes. Punk was fading away but a new alternative to the mainstream was born. Nobody seems to know what happened to the Radiola master cassettes, but somehow a few boxes survived and were archived by Marco van Dalfsen in 2022. We went through hours and hours of material and eventually compiled this album. A few names might sound slightly familiar, but their goal was to unearth the most obscure hidden gems of Dutch home taping culture. The result is an eclectic mix of ambient, industrial, lo-fi weirdness and experimental music and offers a unique glimpse into a very specific, but still relevant piece of the past. 200 copies on black vinyl.

'Contamination' was released in 1980 as a soundtrack for the eponymous horror/science fiction film, during what probably was the most prolific period in Goblin's career, even if the band had already been abandoned by guitarist Massimo Morante and keyboardist Claudio Simonetti. Unknown by most listeners, it's a release that deserves more attention, since it shows a wide range of music styles (jazz, funk, rock, electronic) and once again Goblin's ability in writing film scores. Reissue on black vinyl.

The recording perfectly captures the spirit of young America during the era through songs written by Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield, Funkadelic, and Burt Bacharach (via Isaac Hayes, of course).

After the success of the first Laurel Aitken single backed by Mighty Megatons band, on which the Spanish band completes old unfinished masters from the legendary 'High Priest Of Reggae,' Liquidator Music releases now the second 7". On the A side is 'Suddenly We Don't Talk Anymore,' an elegant rocksteady in the mood of other classic Laurel's recordings like 'Sugar, Sugar' or 'It's Too Late,' that any Godfather Of Ska fans will fall in love with. On the B side we can find 'Judgement Pon Di Land,' a roots rock reggae killer tune. Laurel produced, along his career, some conscious numbers, even rastafari and panafricanist but, probably, this one is the most militant along his legacy. Mighty Megatons has done a great job showing their versatility among the classic Jamaican sounds. A must for any reggae and rocksteady collector.

Japanese import. The third 7" single cut from the 'Funky Jamaica' album is an unreleased song by a dumped man singing over a sweet rhythm of heartbreak lovers rock steady! It lacks the glamour of a horn section, but it is driven by a lilting organ in the style of the Buster All-Stars. The B-side 'Dancing Floor' is the only song Gregory Isaacs left on Buster Productions. It is a very rare tune released only on blanks at the time, and is an early reggae song with a sad melody and sweet Gregory's voice that is perfectly suited to the song.

The album was initially judged as too difficult by Down Beat, then recognized by the most as "an important portrait of a man facing a life and death inner struggle beyond the boundaries of jazz, which takes jazz itself into a new dimension." It also includes some of the most innovative use of sound by the free-jazz icon Albert Ayler.

'Science Fiction' is an album by the American avant-garde jazz saxophonist and composer Ornette Coleman, released in February 1972. It is considered as Coleman's creative rebirth. A stunningly inventive and appropriately alien-sounding blast of manic energy, where Coleman combines his past and future, working with bassist Charlie Haden and drummers Billy Higgins and Ed Blackwell. The album is made up of spacy, long-toned melodies and rhythm, including two songs with Indian vocalist Asha Puthli, which sound like pop hits from an alternate universe, and 'Rock The Clock' where an Arabic double-reed instrument called "musette" is used.

When this album was first released in July 1962, John Coltrane had already concluded his contract with Atlantic Records and was recording for Impulse Records. However, Atlantic decided to release some unissued recordings from 'My Favourite Things' sessions (October 1960) as a new album. This wasn't a new practice; from 1958 to 1962, Prestige Records had already put out several albums using unreleased recordings from their archives. Atlantic had already carried out a similar move by releasing Bags & Trane (recorded with Milt Jackson). This explains why Coltrane, and many other artists, have "parallel discographies" - one set of artist-approved albums and another made up of record label-assembled releases. Although the latter set might seem like a "B-series," it features some of the most intriguing recordings.

Before 'Guaracha UFO' propelled Meridian Brothers onto the international stage, Eblis Alvarez was already shaping his singular sonic universe in the shadows. Released only on CD in between 2009 and 2012 via local label La Distritofónica, Meridian Brothers 'VI' and 'VII' never had wide distribution or media exposure. Yet, these albums represent a crucial phase in the band's evolution, capturing the energy of Bogota's
experimental cumbia scene at the time. On 'VI,' Alvarez crafts a hallucinatory patchwork of cumbia and vallenato, using his
guitar as the guiding thread before layering other instruments on top. 'VII' pushes experimentation even further with a custom-built sampling algorithm, generating unpredictable loops and grooves. Before 'Guaracha UFO' propelled Meridian Brothers onto the international stage, Eblis Alvarez was already shaping his singular sonic universe in the shadows. Released only on CD in between 2009 and 2012 via local label La Distritofónica, Meridian Brothers 'VI' and 'VII' never had wide distribution or media exposure. Originally released in 1979, 'Spiritual Sound' lives up to its name, a soaring, triumphant album, six tracks of spirit magic from Guadeloupe. Telluric, intense, terribly alive, the gwoka drums of Guadeloupe carry the identity of a painful and fervent island. Marked forever by the crime of slavery, Guadeloupe's créolité cherishes the ka drums and their natural environment: the low-pitched boula drum with male goatskin, the high-pitched soloist makè drum with female goatskin, the chacha, ti bwa, triangle, calabash and other percussion instruments that surround them, and the voices - the fiery, proud, timbred, urgent voices of the gwoka. This album is also a legend for its voices: in his then dazzling youth, singer Lukuber Séjor was one of the first gwoka artists to largely feminize the chorus of répondè, who converse with his text delivered in a straight and powerful voice. And everything here sets new standards. In 1979, 'Mizik Filamonik: Spiritual Sound' proclaimed a spiritual patriotism of ferocious intensity. The album by Lukuber Séjor - whose spelling alone is a battle - sets out to give Guadeloupe the intangible weapons of self-respect and self-knowledge, through a singular practice of traditional music.

China having moved towards the market economy, a large number of minority regions have marketed a commodity available only to them: their ethnicity itself. Ethnic tourism has developed in a big way in China since the 1990s for Chinese and foreign tourists, and is often promoted as the way to create income in those areas for development. Spread out over a triple LP, 'Kenya Special' is accompanied by detailed liner notes, original artwork and photographs. It follows on from Soundways much acclaimed 'African Special' series that to date has focused on the highlife and afrobeat output from 1970s Nigeria and Ghana. Kenya Special is a collection of 32 recordings (most of which were only ever released on small-run 45rpm 7" singles) that stand out as being different or unique as well as some classic genre standards. From Kikuyu language liquid soul, Luo benga and Swahili afrobeat to genre-bending Congolese and Tanzanian tracks recorded in Nairobi, 'Kenya Special' sees Soundway yet again taking the less trodden path. Many of the tracks featured here are peppered with innovation and experimentation highlighting how diverse the music scene in Kenya was at the time. In 1970s Kenya the two threads of rumba and benga loosely dominated the music scene. Benga quickly became Kenya's unique contribution to afro-pop: spreading like wildfire through the interior countryside with its fast, 4/4 machine-gun beat and intricate electric guitar layers. The Congolese take on Afro-Cuban rumba was introduced by touring bands many of whom settled in East Africa - influencing bands from Kenya and Tanzania to come up with their own take on this popular style. Alongside these styles were small ensembles and hotel-sponsored bands, playing a blend of music that often included rock'n'roll riffs, elements of afro music (influenced by West African musicians like Fela Kuti), and multiple other combinations from South African and Zambian guitar styles to disco, funk and Swahili coastal rhythms like chakacha. Painstakingly compiled, assembled and researched over two years by a team of five people from five countries (Kenya included), 'Kenya Special' is a collection that looks beyond the mainstream and brings new life and recognition to some little known gems and forgotten classics of Kenya's past.

FLOWER TRAVELLIN' BAND - MADE IN JAPAN (IT)
'Made In Japan' is the third album by Japanese rock band Flower Travellin' Band, released in 1972. After meeting Lighthouse at the Expo '70 festival in Osaka, Flower Travellin' Band were invited to visit Canada. While there, the group recorded 'Made In Japan' with Lighthouse keyboardist Paul Hoffert helping produce. Due to George Wada becoming ill with tuberculosis, Canadian drummer Paul DeLong plays on some tracks on this album. The lyrics were written by Yoko Nomura, the wife of the band's manager, who translated conversations she had with the group and their ideas into English. 'Heaven And Hell' was written by Yamanaka in Japanese and she translated it. The song 'Hiroshima' is a re-imagining of 'Satori Part III' from their previous album 'Satori.' The introductory first track is an advertisement for a concert at Stanley Park Stadium by Flower Travellin' Band, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Bob Seger and Teegarden & Van Winkle, with a clip of 'Lucky Man' playing in the background.

This is the one and only Sade caught live for Veronica's Rock Night TV broadcast on September 21, 1984 in the Netherlands, just a few months after the release of her first single 'Your Love Is King.' Sade is backed here by her original group, an elegant, super tight line-up featuring all four members appearing on her outstanding debut album 'Diamond Life' plus a two piece brass section and percussion. Needless to add that 1984 was a crucial year in Sade's career. That was when the world suddenly discovered her highly sophisticated, soulful sound world. Now, if you want to catch the whole energy of such discovery, these high quality live recordings are the right stuff to start with. Tracks D3 and D4 were recorded at Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK, Nov. 9, 1984.

GOTHO - GOTHRON VERSUS FARTARK
Gotho is an experimental instrumental duo formed in 2020.
Their debut track, 'Gatta De Blanc,' was a 25-minute composition, showcasing their signature mix of synthesizers, electric piano, and drums, with no backing tracks or overdubs. Blending elements of progressive rock, metal, jazz, disco, psychedelia, post-rock, and classical, their sound defies categorization. After gaining acclaim for their live performances, they released their first album, 'MindBowling!,' in October 2022 through Controcanti Produzioni, receiving strong reviews. In November 2024, Gotho releases 'Gothron Versus Fartark' with Supernatural Cat. Set in a sci-fi world, the album tells the story of two robotic enemies battling for their world's survival, using synthesizers, electric piano, vocoder, trumpet, and drums to narrate Gothron's victory over Fartark. Like their previous work, the album spans multiple genres, resisting any single classification. Gotho are Fabio Cuomo (Elder, Eremite, Liquido Di Morte) on synth and electric piano and Andrea Peracchia (Tons, Dogs For Breakfast, Slaiver) on drums.
