First official release of this one-of-a-kind gem by Argentinean progmeisters Alas, in a strictly limited edition of 300 copies, with a newly designed (and band-approved) back cover. 'Pinta Tu Aldea,' recorded in 1977, and formerly released by EMI in 1983, belongs to the cohort of outstanding artworks that sound as fresh and relevant today, as when they were originally recorded. Here, Alas digress from their ELP-esque affinities which permeate their debut album, in quest for a unique sound that would blend for the first time the avant tango idiom of Piazzolla with the multilayered prog arrangements of Gustavo Moretto, with a helping hand from Carlos Riganti and Pedro Aznar. 'Pinta Tu Aldea' laid the very foundational building block of an eclectic sub-genre, namely, avant-tango/prog jazz and folk fusion. This has nothing to do with tango for purist tango lovers, obviously, but with a freeform adaptation of tango instrumentation and composition paths to the exigencies of to the exigencies of progrock in conversation with jazz-fusion, folk and electronics, culminating in an expressionist landscape of unparalleled virtuosity, a bedazzling puzzle of motifs that might be rearranged ad infinitum in a maze of ever-shifting porous boundaries. This is hardly tango you can dance to, but surely tango to headbang to, inasmuch as cabaret metal might hardly qualify for cabaret enthusiasts. This is tango's unabashed unfettering from its formalist constraints and its squirmish takeover in a hybrid cosmopolitan appropriation.

Rubinho e Mauro Assumpçao's 'Perfeitamente, Justamente Quando Cheguei' has to be up there as one of the finest Brazilian-psych-folk-MPB records. Unfortunately, it's very hard to find in the wild; even on digging trips to Brazil, an original copy rarely shows up, and when it does, it comes with a hefty price tag. This highly sought-after rarity was released on the Brazilian label Tapecar Records in 1972 and is the one and only album by the sensational pairing of Rubinho and Mauro Assumpçao. Effortlessly blending folk, MPB, funky-psych, rock, and relaxed, swaggering samba, this record ought to be heralded as a true Brazilian classic. However, maybe due to its scarcity and the previous reissue predominantly being only available to the Brazilian market, it has not had a chance to fully shine and find the wider audience it deserves. Through Mr Bongo's reissue they hope to put things right. Fans of records by Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges are sure to enjoy the same magic and allure in 'Perfeitamente, Justamente Quando Cheguei.' In addition to being the album's songwriters, Mauro Assumpçao took on the role of producer and Rubinho was co-producer as well as playing piano, organ, acoustic guitar and performing vocals. The record features the drummer Gegê who worked with Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo, Nana Caymmi, Dom Um Romao and more. It also features guitarist Rick Ferreira, who played with Erasmo Carlos, Gal Costa and other greats. Rounding off the players on the album are Darcy Da Cruz and Formiga who have graced many a fine recording on horns. Some will know this moment: suddenly everything is clear. When Lulu (Electric Moon) and Oli (ex-Urlaub in Polen) bump into each other at a concert in the legendary Vortex Surfer music club in Siegen, they both know that same evening: We are a band. They tell Falko, who has just destroyed the club with his instrumental post-metal band Sarkh. Just a few months later, the first songs were arranged during the first rehearsals - fragments of poetry and word play written by Oli, melodic
lines and ideas that were taken up by the band and subsidized and refined on the respective instruments. The debut 'White Clouds' was created in less than a year - recorded, mixed and mastered in Falko's underground recording studio Institut Für
Angewandten Krach. During that time, the band attends one of the last concerts of the wonderful noise post-math rock band Shellac in Amsterdam. All three are equally deeply impressed and moved by this show and incorporate Steve Albini's spirit into their debut, which they ultimately dedicated to him. Added to this is their very own drift - pain and hope, the unconditional will of rock'n'roll, depth and steep flight, highly dynamic, playful, hypnotic-driving passages and repeated melodies with resonance, as well as the connection between the three musicians, promise a debut and live concerts with a yeah factor.

Like an unsent love letter to a psychedelic London where everyone is trying to find their way to a secret Television Personalities gig, Cuneiform Tabs emerge with an astounding debut of lo-fi pop and DIY experimentation. Grabbing any instruments at their disposal and splitting vocal duties, Bieyle and Mackinnon pushed their Tascam to its limit to make glittering, odd-shaped gems. Dzamble was a legendary Polish jazz-rock band from Krakow.
For the first time on vinyl, here are 9 recordings, that made up the only LP ('Wolanie O Slonce Nad Swiatem') of the band in 1971, but this time in original radio versions from 1969-1970.
The style of the group is unique mixture of jazz and rock with dominant parts of improvised piano. The vocals are of Polish legendary jazz singer Andrzej Zaucha. The material was remastered straight from the original master tapes and sounds great.

The respected Japanese jazz drummer Akira Ishikawa was not messing around when he recorded the 'Uganda (Dawn Of Rock)' album with his band the Count Buffaloes. For this offering, originally released in 1972 on Toshiba Records, Akira Ishikawa takes us on a deep tripped-out journey. 'Uganda (Dawn Of Rock)' is a fusion of progressive and psych rock with African percussion workouts, dergy-wah wah blues-funk, and jazzy sensibilities; with different genres morphing and uniting as they progress. A long way from his funk and Afrobeat album 'Back To Rhythm,' reissued on Mr Bongo in 2019, this record has a darker, deeper, abstract and experimental stoned tone with the listener being pulled into its vortex for the ride. This record doesn't pull any punches. For this album, Akira is joined by Hideaki Chihara on bass, guitarist Kimio Mizutani, sounding at times like an early '70s Peter Green, percussionist Larry Sunaga and composer Takeru Muraoka. The album has become highly sought-after amongst psych, prog and acid rock collectors and due to the rare nature of original copies they come at a hefty price tag. Ben Bauermiester heard some rough demos of the tracks the night before and laid down drums on the entire record in one afternoon. Message were a progressive rock band based in Germany formed by British guitarist Allan Murdoch and vocalist/woodwinds player Tommy McGuigan. Between 1972 and 1980 they recorded seven albums. McGuigan left after the fourth, 'Synapse.' Murdoch continued to lead the band through several lineup changes and a succession of three different lead singers: David Hanselmann (on 'Using The Head,' later with Triumvirat), Anna Haigis (on their track from the 'Brain Festival' live album) and Sammy Kunig (on their last two albums: 'Astral Journeys' and 'Miles Of Smiles').

In the year 2018 the Australian psych-rockband Seedy Jeezus was doing their European tour. After the tour their guitar player Lex Waterreus spent some days at the home of Komet Lulu and Sula Bassana (both back then of Electric Moon), and what would be nicer as to record some jam sessions. Three longer pieces got recorded and Sula did some editings and mixings.
Then some years passed by... In late 2023 Lex visited Sula at his new home after another Seedy Jeezus tour and they did some spare overdubs and finished the album. Mastering was done by krautrock legend Eroc. Cover art direction by mr. Frumpy. Original image by Masiha Fattahi. LP comes on 180gr random coloured recycled vinyl made in Germany (incl. download code). Limited to 500 copies! It's a co-release with Blown Music from Australia.

From second pressing on, records are not numbered and the stickers on the covers are purple. 50th Anniversary official reissue of this Holy Grail Kraut album from 1972. Real underground heavy-prog/psychedelic hard-rock with raw, in-your-face production, German lyrics, insane acid-fuzz guitar, garage organ and dark, proto-doom atmosphere... the real deal! Named after the famous Lovecraft book, Necronomicon formed in the German town of Aachen in 1970, first influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Hendrix... In 1972 they entered a small studio on the Dutch border and recorded in just five days a concept album named 'Tips Zum Selbstmord.' The title roughly translates as "Tips on how to commit suicide" but the message the band wanted to give had nothing to do with taking your own life but instead with how mankind was facing self destruction, destroying its own planet by pollution, wars, exploitation and overpopulation.
500 copies of the album were privately pressed by the band, housed in a lavish, cross shaped multi fold-out cover. It was a graphical translation of what they wanted to express musically.
Original copies are impossible to find, making it one of the most desirable and sought after Kraut/German albums ever. Here's a long overdue new vinyl reissue, including a faithful reproduction of the original multi-fold-out cross shaped cover. Sourced from the original master tapes. 'MEXICO MAGICO COSMICO, EL OMBLIGO DE LA LUNA' - Following a decade playing in Mexico City's psychedelic rock scene, Luis Perez's early solo work was a mixture of sounds derived from his vast array of pre-Hispanic and ethnographic wind and percussion instruments which he managed to blend with electronic devices including tape delay units, electric guitars and synthesisers. During this time, he was given the name Ixoneztli (or "one who makes music") by the legendary curandera Pachita and her son Enrique, to whom, like Alejandro Jodorowsky before him, Luis served as assistant. In 1981, the Mexican government became very interested Perez's work and sponsored the production of what became the first recording of the fusion of native Mexican instruments with electronics - entitled 'Ipan In Xiktli Metztli', in the Nahuatl language, or 'En El Ombligo De La Luna' in Spanish ('In The Navel Of The Moon'). The impact of this recording and subsequent performances among media, ethnomusicologists and audiences alike established Luis Perez Ixoneztli as a precursor to a new musical genre followed by a generation of young Mexican musicians playing ethno-rock, ethno-jazz, ethno-experimental and the like.

Ebalunga!!! is thrilled to announce the first official reissue of the self-released, self-produced, and self-titled 1985 LP by Scott Seskind. The album is a lo-fi singer-songwriter jewel. Don't miss it. "Authentic and personal, at times it reminds this writer of luminaries such as Jackson C. Frank, PF Sloan, Skip Spence, and Phil Ochs while never feeling derivative.
The songs are melodic and haunting, fueled by existential woes, political angst, and good ol' fashioned love. Scott's rich voice has an unpretentious gravitas, his simple-yet-effective guitar playing ranging from delicate fingerpicking to angry bashing. Created at home on a Tascam 4-Track Portastudio, the recording features few frills and is all the better for it. Unlike most mid-'80s records it sounds like it could have come from any time since the late '60s onwards. As a testament to its greatness, and despite the late recording date, it even gets a nod on Patrick Lundborg's 'Acid Archives' compilation website, Lysergia where it's described thus: "Late phase downer-loner folk and singer-songwriter trip, mostly acoustic, some tracks with a small band."

Craig Smith was an extraordinarily gifted songwriter and musician who seemed poised for a successful career in the 1960s music business, until his life was derailed by drugs and schizophrenia. In 1969 clean-cut, charismatic Craig Smith became Maitreya Kali, a dark, disturbed psychedelic Messiah figure. He laid out his strange vision on a self-released double-album 'Apache/Inca', which went on to become one of the most sought-after artifacts of the psychedelic era. He died homeless on the streets of Hollywood in 2012. His story was told in Mike Stax's critically acclaimed book 'Swim Through The Darkness: My Search For Craig Smith & The Mystery Of Maitreya Kali', published in 2016 by Process Media. But his story does not end there. 'Love Is Our Existence' presents a selection of Craig's unreleased music. Professionally recorded in Los Angeles studios between 1966 and 1971, these previously unheard songs reveal a singer and songwriter of breathtaking depth and talent. Painstakingly remastered from acetate discs and master tapes, these songs have the same haunting, otherworldly quality heard on the 'Apache' and 'Inca' albums. This deluxe edition was pressed on high quality vinyl at RTI and comes in a classic-style "tip-on" gatefold jacket with previously unseen photos and detailed liner notes by Mike Stax. Since a few years Alessandro Bosetti has been collecting voices that become part of the 'Plane/Talea' archive. The creation of the archive stems from dozens of individual meetings and recording sessions, in which each voice is detached from its owner or originator and anonymized. With each new iteration and performance, Bosetti plays the archive as if it were an instrument. He searches for hidden details and correspondences through exploration, immersion and contemplation. Each re-activation of the archive results in a dense and
swarming polyphony made up of thousands of short utterances - shorter than any word bearing a meaning - recombined and interwoven into complex textures. The particularity of the grain of 'Plane/Talea' lies in the autonomous and darting life that each of these fragments lives in a teeming community of voices. Such polyphonies are rich in microtonal detail emerging from the incessant juxtaposition of vocal objets trouvés. Harmonic relationships are sometimes rough and chaotic, other times surprisingly just. The voices are never treated electronically but only recombined and musical tension is provided by the particular grain, inflection, energy of each one of them in counterpoint to the others and to a frugally used instrumentarium (Harpsichord, Ondes Martenot, Cristal Baschet, grand piano, analog synth, Hammond organ). Implicit reference goes to ancient, modern and postmodern forms of vocal polyphony. 'Plane/Talea 31-34' -the continuation of the homonymous 2016 LP- is a work of sampling that projects an imaginary community and a disembodied choir. The four arching and extensive tracks were created between 2017 and 2018 and bear the trace of two specific moments: August nights in a country house in Vicobarone, in the hills of Piacenza (31-32) and a week-long residency at the Studio Venezia, an environment created by French artist Xavier Veilhan in the French pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale (33-34). Formed in the early 2000's, trumpet player Joachim Devillé and saxophonist Thomas Olbrechts were in their twenties at that time, while drummer - their teacher at the art school in Brussels - Dirk Wauters was already in his fifties. Logically, twenty years later the first one are in their forties and the third one in his seventies. They only released a couple of CDs before 'Indium' but never stopped to play, for themselves and for audiences, in concerts.

Henry Krutzen is a relatively shadowy figure in the history of experimental sound. Between the early '80s and the 2010s, there are only a handful of albums that bear his name, and very little information about them. A multi-instrumentalist and composer who studied percussion, saxophone, and harmony in various schools and jazz clinics across Belgium, over the years he played in a diverse range of musical projects across the idioms of jazz, new wave, heavy metal, experimental, chanson Française, world music and progressive rock, before relocating to Brazil during the early 2000s. 'Silances,' originally released by Igloo Records - the Belgian imprint founded in 1978 by Daniel Sotiaux - sitting alongside astounding and remarkably unique albums by Leo Küpper, Jacques Bekaert, Henri Chopin, Arthur Pétronio, André Stordeur, and numerous others, is an entirely singular gesture at the borders of sound poetry, musique concrète, and radical electroacoustic practice that draws upon disparate elements of drone, jazz, minimalism, ecstatic tribalism, and various traditions of music from across the globe. Decades on from its original release it remains as striking, unique, and compelling as it did upon its release.
In a note that Krutzen penned in 2022 when he was contacted for the reissue of 'Silances,' Krutzen recalls: "Since I was 16, I had been experimenting with concrete music with a technician friend and we used all a teenager's room could offer to make sounds into music: faucets, glasses of water, metal springs on ladders, objects of any kind... I had hours of recordings I pitched to Daniel [Sotiaux], to see if he was interested in making an album. I also had other ideas I wanted to be able to develop. What a joy when he accepted to work on the project! So I got to work. First, I set up a vocal improvisation quartet, and we spent long afternoons rehearsing using input I provided_ We went into the studio and recorded almost two hours of improvisation, from which I then chose the best moments for the final product." Edition of 500 copies in screen printed cover. Includes two inserts: a replica of the original insert and the English translation.

Mette Rasmussen is a Danish saxophone player based in Trondheim, Norway, who first gained attention as a member of Trio Riot, before increasingly branching out as solo artist, working with the likes of Alan Silva, Chris Corsano, Fire! Orchestra, Tashi Dorji, and Ken Vandermark. Drawing from a wide range of influences, from free jazz to textural soundwork, Rasmussen's practice delves into the exploration of the natural rawness of her instrument and its capacity for expression, with and without preparations.
Based in Brussels, Pak Yan Lau is a sound artist, improviser, musician, and composer. Over the last decade, she has developed her own singular sonic universe blending acoustic, electro-acoustic and electronic approaches and working both as a vocalist, as well as with prepared pianos, toy pianos, synths, electronics and various sound objects across a number of solo efforts, in addition to live and recorded collaborations with Chris Corsano, Akira Sakata, Tatsuhisa Yamamoto, Tetuzi Akiyama, Rie Nakajima, and Darin Gray. Recorded in Antwerp during late 2017, 'Traditional Noise' features Rasmussen on alto sax, preparations, objects, voice, and Lau on toy pianos, synth, sampler, modified wok, typatune, and electronics, locked in an evolving, conversant sound expanse that pointedly avoids the explicitly musical as the two artists bristle against each other, delivering textural and tonal interventions defined by careful restrain and space.

The music released as 'Amulet' (or 'The Amulet Edition') is Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson's semi-secret testament. Originally available in exceedingly limited quantities at live shows and via direct mail-order in 2008 as a hand-assembled 4 mini-CDR set housed in a circular Thai Amulet case and never properly distributed, the material finally receives the wider re-release on vinyl and CD it so richly deserves. Only the second and sadly already the final release in his post-Coil solo guise as The Threshold Houseboys Choir, 'Amulet' sees Christopherson in a more playful mood than ever, don't be fooled by reviews calling this suite of songs "incomplete" or "working stage," these are rough little diamonds, often imbued with a bittersweet melancholy joy, unsurprisingly reminiscent of some of the final Coil offerings, but additionally steeped in exotica, inspired by his new East Asian home and the ghostly voices of his digitally generated choir ("a vocalist that wouldn't crash," as he would say). At times these tracks sound like a warmer, less analytically complex counterpart to the work he created simultaneously with CoH's Ivan Pavlov in the celebrated Soisong project. Bonus tracks feature rare earlier THBC compilation tracks and a few previously unreleased exclusive sketches. Let's be perfectly clear though, 'Amulet' is not some half-finished cutting-room floor left-overs, it's a genuine but very little heard fully fledged album released by Christopherson with some of the tracks performed live on his last ever tour, the unforgettable intimate Evenings with Uncle Sleaz. Includes a poster of Peter Christopherson in his infamous Cruella Deville coat. The album has been respectfully and expertly remastered by grammy-nominated Jessica Thompson. Artwork by Oleg Galay overseen and with additional guidance from "our man in Thailand" Peter Jenx.

The Italian Ictus imprint was founded in 1976 by percussionist and composer Andrea Centazzo and his wife Carla Lugli. Running for just under a decade, until relaunching during the mid-2000s, the label produced a couple of dozen highly celebrated releases, the majority of which loosely fall under the banner of free jazz. Ictus' second batch of releases from the label's historic archives logically begins with Andrea Centazzo's 'U.S.A. Concerts,' originally issued in 1978 and out of print on vinyl for the majority of the time since. 'U.S.A. Concerts' draws on the same rough period when Centazzo was working in the United States at 'Environment For Sextet,' which was reissued in the previous batch, and features many of the same players - Polly Bradfield on violin, Eugene Chadbourne on guitar, Tom Cora on cello, Toshinori Kondo on trumpet and John Zorn on saxophone - in different configurations. In fact, the first, second, and seventh tracks - 'Sextet Improvisation,' 'Duet Improvisation 1,' 'Duet Improvisation 4' - were all recorded on the same day at the same location - WKCR Radio in New York on November 7, 1978 - as the aforementioned album.
Beginning with the brilliant textural and tonal explorations of the full ensemble encountered in 'Sextet Improvisation,' the album quickly moves toward quieter and more restrained investigations of roughly similar ground, moving through a series of duo improvisations between the percussionist and Eugene Chadbourne, Tom Cora, and the under-celebrated saxophonist, Jack Wright, whose howling horn is transformed to otherworldly effect by the reverberance of the space within which he works. From here Centazzo embraces the trio form with an improvisation with two more under-celebrated figures from the American scene - Davey Williams playing guitar and banjo, and LaDonna Smith on violin, viola, and voice - capturing a performance in Jackson, Mississippi on November 19, 1978, during which the three fire responsive statements that hang like barbs in the spacious air, before conceding the LP with a brilliant suite of duos with Toshinori Kondo, Williams, and Smith. Offering incredible insight into Centazzo's unique sensibility, as well as into the work of a new generation of stunning improvisers as they emerged at the tail end of the '70s, before going on to help define the '80s free jazz sound, 'U.S.A. Concerts' is a crucial artefact of free music at the juncture; fire on the boundaries of outright noise. An endlessly surprising journey between shifting between airy open passages that feature striking combinations of players, it's sure to knock the socks off more than a few well-seasoned fans.

PYGMY UNIT - SIGNALS FROM EARTH
Blending Native American references into a body of sonority that draws on free improvisation, experimental electronic music, and spiritual jazz, Pygmy Unit's 'Signals From Earth' - originally self-released by the band in 1974 - forges a singular and almost entirely unknown path, and stands almost entirely on its own in the history of west coast American jazz.
First appearing on the San Francisco scene sometime during the early 1970s, almost nothing is known about the Pygmy Unit, a seven piece band steered by Darrel De Vore, who contributed flute, bass, percussion, piano, and vocals to the band's lone LP, first appeared with percussionist Terry Wilson within the psychedelic folk rock band, The Charlatans, who belonged to the legendary Family Dog scene. Jim Pepper, a Native American tenor saxophonist known for being a member of the Mal Waldron Quartet, played with Charlie Haden, Don Cherry, and numerous others, and produced the cult favourite, 'Pepper's Pow Wow,' for Embryo Records in 1971. John Celona, who contributes parts on sax, synthesizer, and percussion, would later go on to be regarded as an electronic composer of some note. Of the remaining members, saxophonist Frank Albright, bassoonist Ron Grunn, and percussionist Marvin Kirkland, very little else is known. It seems this LP is more or less all they recorded.
While undeniably jazz - riding a remarkable line between avant-garde electronic music, spiritual jazz, and free improvisation - the band was very much a product of the diverse creative ferment that developed in their hometown of San Francisco during the 1960s. Embodying the raw spirit of DIY (many of the instruments used in the recordings were made by DeVore himself, self-described as an "itinerant flute-maker") the ensemble channels references - via passages of chanting and percussion, as well as conceptual underpinnings - from Jim Pepper's Native American roots, intuiting them with the soulfulness of spiritual jazz, wild moments of avant-gardism centred around synths and electronic effects, and explosions of wild free improvisation.

ROVA SAXOPHONE QUARTET WITH ANDREA CENTAZZO - THE BAY
On the same trip to the United States that produced 'U.S.A. Concerts' and 'Environment For Sextet,' Andrea Centazzo also connected with the San Francisco-based Rova Saxophone Quartet, formed the previous year by Jon Raskin, Larry Ochs, Andrew Voigt and Bruce Ackley (all playing various saxophones). While not as well-known now as they once were, over the last 40+ years the ensemble has produced dozens of albums and collaborated with diverse figures like Anthony Braxton, Alvin Curran, Terry Riley, and Henry Kaiser. The first of those collaborations captured on tape was 'The Bay,' recorded in California during December of 1978. In Centazzo's own words: "At the end of the 1970s this group (R.O.V.A.) of four saxophone players appeared on the scene of improvised and jazz music, bringing with them a gust of fresh air in their unusual approach to themes, technical dexterity and daring choices of language contamination". Launching in with the almost symphonic piece, 'Trobar Clus,' which takes up the majority of the first side and deploys complex clusters tones and rhythms to startling effect, the album progresses through a series of pieces that follow Centazzo's disposition toward working across diverse arrangements of players, breaking down into trios, duos, and full ensemble works, each composed by the quartet, Centazzo, or in collaboration between the two. Utilizing compositional structures that allow broad spaces for improvisation, while highlighting each player's highly individual skill set within a various ensembles, trios, duets and solos, to underline the soloist skills of the musicians, and organizes the sound situations into ensembles, trios, duets and solos, 'The Bay' is a stunning piece of much neglected creativity, riding the American and Italian scenes, from the mid to late 1970s, as well as drawing the ear back toward the origins of The Rova Saxophone Quartet. Polytechnic Youth teams up with Morecambe's Horror Pop Sounds imprint to release -for the first time- and from the vaults of the Polish Radio Experimental Studio, 'Smile Eyes And The Children Folk'. 'Usmiechniete Oczy I Dzieci' (original Polish title) was briefly aired on Polish TV in the summer of 1983. A bizarre and surreal show aimed at children; it was pulled from transmission after the first series for a variety of understandable reasons. The story told of a small rural community of children (all the adults had vanished inexplicably) who worshipped a mythical figure called 'Smile Eyes' residing within a giant mushroom cluster. The children must, at all times, adorn a variety of odd masks which reflect their status within the community. The show is somewhat forgotten now, yet there are a number of (now) adult groups that regularly gather to celebrate this brief curiosity from their youth. The soundtrack is by little known Polish TV composer Szczepan Buczkowski who, after many years of serving up bland jingles and incidental music for TV, was finally freed to unleash his array of talents, and collection of Soviet built synthesisers to full effect. He composed a woozy soundtrack of early '80s synth goodness, where moments of beauty and terror burst out of the murk to create a mood of mystery and menace. Buczkowski also utilised the Polish Television's youth choir, subtlety weaving them into this incredible soundtrack. The disquieting leitmotifs contribute to the truly disturbing effect the show had on young TV audiences. A fantastical piece of work that has finally been unearthed by the Polish wing of Horror Pop Sounds in their quest to release long forgotten TV and film productions. Comes on transparent red vinyl with full original artwork from Telewizja Polska and includes full colour A4 original Polish TV studio print. Restored and mastered by Stephen James Buckley. This album is sure to appeal to aficionados of Krzysztof Komeda, Lubos Fiser, Andrzej Korzynski et al. 300 copies only to the world.

Hugely recommended to fans of early Mute/Blackwing studios output, Fad Gadget, DAF, The Normal and co; their music is often described as "typifying the PY sound" as imagined by label head Dom, upon his setting up Polytechnic Youth in 2014. A record that has that rare trait of sounding timeless in its (very European) nod to that key period of electronic pop from the mid '70s whilst also sounding utterly fresh and new in 2019. A fabulous record released as a vinyl only pressing on tasty half black and half pink vinyl, in a pressing of 500 only.

We've seen this happen on a regular basis with differing results. One of the most pleasing of these revisits sees contemporary bands look back to the early pioneers of electronic music, especially the Berlin scene of the seventies, and thus we see the likes of Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and Klaus Schulze becoming huge influences on modern music (it is fair to say, however, that these have long been major influences but now that influence is worn like a statement of intent). Add to this the rise in popularity of film soundtracks and a whole new generation becoming familiar with the likes of Fabio Frizzi, John Carpenter, Goblin etc etc and you have a heady brew of contemporary analogue music that treats these influences with the respect they deserve but add their own distinctive twist on affairs. That preamble leads to this album by Mutante, the pairing of Alec Wood and Jonathan Parkes, who you may know from their equally as excellent Korb project. Previously out in 2018 on CD and digital on Dreamlord Recordings, this wonderful slice of nostalgic electronica is receiving a well deserved vinyl outing courtesy of those fine dudes at Up In Her Room Records. Now, as a rule I do try, not always successfully, not to use the word 'cinematic' but in this case I'm just gonna have to... Parades Against Parades were formed around Saskatoon's (Canada) punk rock and indy scenes where the four teenagers exploded into their own, playing furiously and as often as possible to many riotous dance parties. These recordings though capture the band as they left behind their volatile and Wire-ish style into something more wasted and decadent as Chris Laramee bullied his way into the band on third guitar duties. Playing on the turntable was Spacemen 3, The Gun Club, Howlin' Wolf as the bands playing became more ragged and maybe sloppy but infused with feeling and bravado. A sound more wasted - like a mushroom infused Rolling Stones via the whips of the Velvets where broken strings, amps and bottles couldn't wake them from the spell as buzzsaw guitars slasjed the jugular in these recordings. "In the Autumn of 2018 I was driving to work and had the CD of 'The Sound Of Young America' by The Voices playing on the car stereo. Capturing elements of Spacemen 3 and MBV while creating their own distinctive sound, I've loved this album ever since it was released back in 2007. I suddenly realised that this amazing album had never been made available on vinyl. And then I remembered that I ran my own record label. Not sure why it took me so long to put 2 and 2 together but I contacted the band immediately and the wheels were quickly put into motion. As it happens, the band were in the process of putting out a new album via their Bandcamp page and also remastering their earlier work so the timing could not have been better. The artwork and audio have been given a bit of a make over and a definitive version of this great and often over-looked album has now been given the Drone Rock Records treatment. "~Drone Rock Records. During their four year life span they released the lauded 2007 album 'The Sound Of Young America' via My Kung Fu, including the title track, a blistering wall of sound with washed out vocals.
