This Italian '70s act featured a.o. Giacomo 'Mino' di Martino (known from a.o. I Giganti) and his wife, actress and singer Edda 'Terra' di Benedetto. The music on their Kraut-influenced self-titled album, first released in 1978, is dominated by Terra's fascinating, improvised vocals and Mino's keyboards, creating amazing space sounds reminiscent of those from 1950s and 1960s science fiction B-movies. This reissue (500 copies) comes with reproduced original artwork, a poster, three inserts and a bonus 7-inch record! Very, very nice!

In October 2023, Greek label Anazitisi Records celebrates 20 years as a record label, so they proudly present the official release of the previously unissued album by Ashhollow. The band formed in 1973 in Oklahoma USA. After some personnel changes they took their final form in 1975 with Bill Kirtley: vocals, guitar, Mike Stewart: vocals, guitar, Mike Hanna: vocals, bass and Gary Bruce: drums. They played locally in clubs and concerts and had their own compositions written by all 4 members. Besides the original material (most of it, is presented here) they played a variety of covers by bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, CSN&Y, Kansas etc. Their music is ranged between hard rock with many psych underground vibes and
progressive rock with jazzy overtones. Wishbone Ash, Primevil, Majic Ship, Hard Meat, even quieter and less polished Ashbury come in mind... This album was made from an original reel-to-reel tape, recorded on January 30, 1976. All live in the studio with no overdubs. The tape contains 11 songs in total but Anazitisi used only the 9 of them because of vinyl limitations. Soon after the recordings, Ashhollow came to a halt. Includes fully laminated cover and 4-pages (LP-sized) coloured insert with bio, photos, lyrics and memorabilia.
Limited to 200 black copies, 180gr vinyl as usual.

Rubinho e Mauro Assumpçao's 'Perfeitamente, Justamente Quando Cheguei' has to be up there as one of the finest Brazilian-psych-folk-MPB records. Unfortunately, it's very hard to find in the wild; even on digging trips to Brazil, an original copy rarely shows up, and when it does, it comes with a hefty price tag. This highly sought-after rarity was released on the Brazilian label Tapecar Records in 1972 and is the one and only album by the sensational pairing of Rubinho and Mauro Assumpçao. Effortlessly blending folk, MPB, funky-psych, rock, and relaxed, swaggering samba, this record ought to be heralded as a true Brazilian classic. However, maybe due to its scarcity and the previous reissue predominantly being only available to the Brazilian market, it has not had a chance to fully shine and find the wider audience it deserves. Through Mr Bongo's reissue they hope to put things right. Fans of records by Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges are sure to enjoy the same magic and allure in 'Perfeitamente, Justamente Quando Cheguei.' In addition to being the album's songwriters, Mauro Assumpçao took on the role of producer and Rubinho was co-producer as well as playing piano, organ, acoustic guitar and performing vocals. The record features the drummer Gegê who worked with Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo, Nana Caymmi, Dom Um Romao and more. It also features guitarist Rick Ferreira, who played with Erasmo Carlos, Gal Costa and other greats. Rounding off the players on the album are Darcy Da Cruz and Formiga who have graced many a fine recording on horns. Band Of Nowhere is a new constellation project by Juanjo Sánchez, together with other collaborators with whom he had previously worked. It is worth mentioning Bob Drake on drums, former member of the legendary formation Thinking Plague (also on Hail, 5UU's, The Science Group) who has also mastered the project from their studio in the Midi-Pyrénées and also to mention the guitarist Jordi Cabayol (Camino al Desván) both Juanjo and Jordi began their career in a significant band of Barcelona of the early eighties, such as Entr'acte. The becoming of Juanjo Sánchez would take him to other latitudes as a member of Alondra Satori and without losing the lighthouse of his city, he would collaborate with other outstanding musicians such as Quicu Samsó (Koniec, Macromassa). The fluidity and chromaticism of his previous album Gonza Magilla is still perceived in here, but in a much more electrified way with guitars that are sometimes expansive, other times exuberant wrapped up with contagious synthesizer modulations and very marked rhythms. The production and especially the arrangements are fantastic with those special presences of synthesizers that are not common around here. Its original improvisation and experimentation is skilfully adjusted by Juanjo Sánchez, giving a much more playful result with unexpected combinations, very much in continuity with a certain European art rock such as Aksak Maboul, Etron Fou, Zamla, The Work or the mischievous resonances of The League of Gentlemen; all this mapping the sound transit, to an unpredictable and vibrant non-place.

Amazing previously unreleased 1976 recordings by psychedelic progsters Blat Brut. Strongly influenced by the works of Jimi Hendrix, Traffic, John Mayall, Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull, the band melted all their influences into a unique sound and delivered extended heady instrumental jams with a tight, ferocious drum and bass basis, far-out guitar pyrotechnics and psyched-out flute arrangements. This band was not only formed by its four musicians, their line-up also included two sound engineers who built their equipment and created the sound effects heard on the instruments. They where also responsible for these recordings from 1976, which are unearthed here for the first time ever. Think of a mindexpanding instrumental version of Pan & Regaliz, add some spicy bits of the early Jade Warrior's fuzz guitar, some elements from Skin Alley's first LP, or the Canterbury way of deconstructing instrumental passages, and you'll get a close idea of what these young kids were doing in their small rehearsal room in Barcelona's mid seventies. For the joy of all mindexpanding progressive jam lovers, here's a beautiful vinyl reissue with a paste-on cover and a gatefold insert moffering plenty of photos and notes by the band's flutist Anton Serra. BOOK OF AM - PART V: NIGHT
The Book of AM is a collection of inspirational songs, poems and stories composed in different parts of the world through the millennia up to the present day and edited and set to music and graphics by Juan Arkotxa and Leslie MacKenzie. The Book expresses core themes from Eastern and Western philosophical and religious traditions and it follows the cycle of day with five parts - 'Dawn', 'Morning', 'Afternoon', 'Evening' and 'Night'. When the Book was first published in 1977 the incomplete Part V, 'Night', was not incorporated into the four part publication (Part I published in Paris 1978, and Parts I, 2, 3, and 4 were published by Wah-Wah Records in 2004 and 2010). At last the final part 'Night' has been completed and is presented here as the conclusion of this long project. Recordings from that time, 1977, were used, and combined with musical and technical collaboration, mainly from oG, (introduced to Wah Wah by the member of the Book of AM team Will Z and also part of the Belgium group Cosmic Trip Machine) who joined for this project and has brought his own form of genius to the mix, adding, along with Will Z, extra overdubs to the original recordings, as well as making an invaluable contribution to the composition, mixing and mastering by which a sound different from the previous AM albums was achieved, more ethereal and informal but at the same time surprising and powerful which steps out of the standard songs format and creates a befitting space for the nocturnal and final mood of this project.

For this project the trio recorded about three hours of music, from which the highlights (some heavier and more electric than probably expected!) are now brought together on this DOUBLE-LP. Among the guests we find Daevid Allen and Gilli Smyth, while Cosmic Trip Machine's Will Z, oG, Majnun and Sammy helped Juan and Leslie to rescue the material and shape it into this gorgeous set. The accompanying illustrations are included in a 24-page booklet. This release is manufactured in an edition of 500 units.

Repress of 500 copies. An obscure classic from the 1970s Belgian jazzy prog scene that has become a much sought after item on the collector's market since its original release in 1974. Highly inspired by both the UK's Canterbury scene and the zeuhl sound, the debut album by Cos has been compared to the likes of Soft Machine, Gong, Hatfield & The North, National Health, Gilgamesh, Egg, Placebo, Magma or Zao, with Pascale Son's unique wordless vocals and nonsense syllables singing in a voice that some sources have compared to Flora Purim's. The origins of Cos reach back to the second half of the '60s when Daniel Schell joined forces with Jean-Paul Musette, Pascale Son and Robert Pernet to form Classroom. When Classroom split, Daniel Schell and Pascale Son moved ahead and formed Cos together with Charles Loos, Alain Goutier and Bob Dartsch. They produced an experimental jazz rock sound linked to the influences above mentioned, but without being mere copycats. The album was released on the small obscure label Plus, and has arised interest not only among prog-rock psych-heads and jazz experimentalists, but also among those looking for breaks and bits to sample.

Another lost gem of French underground music, Delired Cameleon Family was originally conceived as the soundtrack to Pierre Clementi's "Visa de censure n§ X", and was originally released as an LP in 1975. It was a host of reputed experimentalists who took charge of producing this soundtrack. Under the direction of Cyrille Verdeaux we found the likes of Yvan Coaquette (Msica Electrnica Viva, Spacecraft...), Gilbert Artman (Lard Free, Urban Sax...), Christian Boul, Tim Blake (Gong, solo recordings...), Ariel Kalma (Heldon, solo recordings), Jean-Claude d'Agostini, Franois Jeanneau, Jean Padovani, Olivier Pamela, Joël Dugrenot, Antoine Duvernet, Aude Cornillac and Valrie Lagrange. Cyrille Verdeaux was, of course, the main force behind the better known French band Clear Light. Verdeaux was born the 31st of July of 1949 in Paris. At the age of 15 he became a student at the French National Conservatory of Music, specialising in studies of harmony, composition and piano. He won three times the first prize in student composition. After the 1968 student riots he left the Conservatory to join a band as a keyboardist. In 1972 he released "Clearlight Symphony", thus forming the band Clear Light to tour through Europe perfroming his symphony. Clear Light would release three more LPs through the 70's, and also the soundtrack to "Visa de censure". The music form Delired Cameleon Family, as it has been told somewhere, "is the synthesis of piano's technical, epic scales, psychedelic wah wah guitar sounds and electronic cosmic, molecular machines arrangements."

His 'Elektron Kukeso' LP is a landmark in the genre. Released in 1971, it featured his explorations in electronic avant-garde music during the period 1969-1971. Influenced by the works of Karl-Heinz Stockhausen and using techniques similar to those of Pierre Henry or Raymond Scott, Edler brought a psychedelic edge to electronic music just like Silver Apples had done in the USA.

'Stellar Season' was conceived as a loose concept album during one of the covid lockdowns, with Whittaker sketching out the basics of a story about a rural society far from Earth whose obsession with summer leads to an endless day that they soon regret, learning to appreciate the rhythm of the seasons in the process. Knowing the talent of his old friend as a songwriter and bassist, Whittaker brought Howarth in to collaborate on the songs. The recordings were completed over several sessions from 2021 to 2023. The album features fellow Diagonal band members Luke Foster and Dave Wileman as well as ambient guitarist Will Howes. The album explores a range of emotions, from tender to euphoric; it's instrumentally adventurous, featuring exotic percussion, sitar and synthesisers alongside acoustic guitars, woodwinds and vocals. ...GRAND EXPOSITION: A HERBAL MIRACLE' - The sixth album by Frozen Planet....1969 is another improvised heavy-psyched-out instrumental adventure. This time however, the music invokes the spirit of the old travelling medicine shows. This is a return to the "concept album" by the band (their first three albums were also concept albums). The tracklisting is quite simple, but the concept and layout is much more complex. Two tracks; the title-track as track one, lasting an entertaining thirty-nine and a half minutes, followed by a neat little "encore" of about six minutes. Track one is of course spread over two sides for the vinyl edition due to playing-time restrictions. However, the fade-out at the end of side one could be viewed as a lead into an intermission! The parts of the title-track serve as the acts of the show. The band takes twists and turns to help guide you through the story, while Doctor Berner is on a quest to sell bottles of his glowing green elixir with the help of some colourful characters. This is all illustrated in a wonderful vintage comicbook style. Simply follow the program inside the gatefold and you'll have a grand old time! 100 copies on black vinyl.

GONTRAN - L'ENVOL
In his youth days, Gontran lived on the road. He describes himself as a member of the alternative hippie generation, not of those who claimed wanted to change the world, but of those who actually took an alternate way of living. He travelled, took any jobs available to make some money to live wherever he was, and wrote beautiful songs accompaining himself on guitar. From time to time, when the stars aligned, when there was the chance, he would rent some studio time and lay down his compositions, always in a pretty bare way with little arrangements added on the spot, mostly by musicians who happened to be there and who improvised their parts - one take, we have it. With this procedure he released 'Funambule' in 1975 and 'L'Envol' in 1977. He also worked with Dominique Le Roux on a joint venture LP in 1979. On offer here is the first ever vinyl reissue of Gontran's second album 'L'Envol,' recorded in two hours in a Paris studio with a bass player (F.D. Aldonse) and two female vocalists whose surnames have been lost in the depths of time - Victorine and Theodorine. As the other Gontran albums, it was self released in a limited run private pressing which has nowadays become an elusive piece in the collectors market - so rare that it doesn't even appear on Phileas Folk's great 'The French Folk Magic Time Guide' book. The beautiful music contained within is a delightful sample of Gontran's excellent singer-songwriter qualities and his commitment to portray his inner world and livings through his musicated poems. He names as his biggest influences big names like Leonard Cohen, who he had the chance to meet and chat with when in Mumbai back in 1999, Bob Dylan or Jack Kerouac, but Gontran was centered in his vivences and commited to his need to express himself that he really doesn't sound like anyone but Gontran. Amazing homemade folk sounds from an artist who, ironically, was always traveling abroad and stayed little at home! A very rare private pressing, recently featured in Hans Pokora's last 'Record Collector Dreams' book, valuing an original copy with 4 stars! The Wah Wah reissue has been made with the great help of Gontran himself and features a faithful reproduction of the original album artwork with the addition of an insert with photos, lyrics and liner notes. Recorded in 1973 at the Church Of Saint Mary Magdalene in Paddington, London, 'Unfinished Picture' is Rupert Hine's second LP. The songs where all composed by Hine with lyrics by David McIver and Simon Jeffries. On its sessions, Hine was surrounded by a host of outstanding musicians that included Simon Jeffes (Penguin Cafe Orchestra), Mike Giles (Giles, Giles & Fripp/King Crimson), Mick Waller (Cyril Davis, The Steampacket, Jeff Beck Group), Ray Cooper (Eric Clapton, Elton John) among others. Rupert Hine's recording adventures started with the release of a 7" 45 by the folk duo Rupert & David, 'The Sounds Of Silence.' In 1971 he was approached by Purple Records for the release of his debut solo LP 'Pick Up A Bone,' which despite its lack of commercial success featured a strong collection of critically acclaimed compositions that made Purple Records want him to record a second album - 'Unfinished Picture,' on which Hine showed a fantastic evolution to a more conceptual, cinematic approach. Echoes of Ray Davies, Kevin Ayers or hints of Nick Drake taken to a more 'happy' territoire mix with beautiful strings by The Martyn Ford Orange Ensemble and even some ARP synth explorations to build a fantastic collection of sounds that take the listener on a trip through the worlds of folk, psych and prog. Hine's career would soon take off as a famed producer, he did work with Kevin Ayers, Milla Jovovich, Jonesy, Steve Tilston, Anthony Phillips, Camel, Saga, Rush, Tina Turner, Howard Jones, Bob Geldof, Suzanne Vega, and many others. A generation younger than the great late Tete Montoliu, with whom he also recorded, he found fame on the teenage pop charts of the late sixties with the outfit Pic-Nic, where he joined forces with Toti Soler and Doro Montaberry. After the split of Pic-Nic, he collaborated Hammond organ in Om, when the band was acting as a backing group on the recordings of the top Catalan artists, most notably Pau Riba whom they backed in his masterpiece debut LP Dioptria. In 1971, Sabatés started his own band, together with bassist Alfonso de Lucas and drummer Pedro Van Eeckout (ex Pan Y Regaliz). This was the line-up that went to record their debut LP, Ortodòxia, on the famed Estudis Gema in March 1971. Housed in a wonderful black & white sleeve courtesy of Guillem Paris (leading force behind Pan Y Regaliz), the record was a solid slice of psychedelic jazz-rock and featured contributions from some of the best musicians from the Barcelona scene: Toti Soler, J. Albert Amargos, Doro Montaberry and Ricard Sabatés. Hardly known outside Spain, this is classic album that ranks amongst the best from the European underground of early 1970s.
Jordi Sabatés has been one of the most prolific artists from Catalunya and his solo career after Jarka has gained him a wide reputation amongst collectors, mainly thanks to his 1975 LP Ocells del més enllà, but also to his other great albums of the era. The sound roots of what he became later are clearly heard in Jarka. Strictly limited to 500 copies. High quality gatefold sleeves reproducing the original artwork from 1971's first press on Edigsa. Includes insert with extra liner notes by Wah Wah's Marc Argenter helped by Fermi Puig. Bonus 7" single by Jordi Sabatés & Om reproducing with the songs 'Another Me, Another You' y 'Retorn a...' in its colour picture sleeve. A legend amongst Spanish collectors, this single was originally withdrawn at the time and only the sleeves made it to the production process (so no records were ever pressed...Until now!).

SPECIAL OFFER! Another hidden gem from the Saga budget catalogue is unearthed. Katch 22 were a bunch of young boys that produced the UK answer to the US soft-rock scene. It is ironic that a UK band can be so influenced by those US bands that were most highly under the influence of British popsike! Think of Harper's Bizarre, The Association, The Millenium or Eternity's Children even higher on tea! A surprisingly good production for a Saga pop/psych LP, the album is built up of excellent cover versions of some greats of the genre, paying tribute to the likes of The Left Banke ('Walk Away Rene'), Simon & Garfunkel / Harper's Bizarre ('Feelin' Groovy') or even Buffalo Springfield ('Go And Say Goodbye') and also of some good originals in the same vein. It is certainly an underrated period piece that deserves wider recognition and a great sounding album of orchestrated (and non orchestrated) pop sounds. The album was originally issued on Saga/Eros subsidiary in 1968, and the Wah Wah-reissue respects the colourful sleeve and reprints the original insert, with sound remastered from the original tapes by Denis Blackham at Skye Mastering. Offered in a limited 500 copies only edition!

Repress! The fifth studio album and last euphoric mind-trip to Kikagaku Moyo's imagined island. Best-suited for counting stars, looking at the ocean, and dancing in one's daydream. In many ways 'Kumoyo Island' represents the culmination of a journey for Kikagaku Moyo. While their decade-long career can be summarized as a series of kaleidoscopic explorations through lands and dimensions far and near, there's a strong intention in each of their works to take the listener to a particular place, however real or abstract they may be. In that sense, the title and cover art for the band's fifth and final album draws you into a magical mass of land surrounded by water... but the couch suggests that 'Kumoyo Island'may not be a fleeting stop, but rather a place of respite, where one could pause and take it all in. Reconvening at Tsubame Studios in Asakusabashi, Tokyo, where their earliest material had been recorded, the five members of Kikagaku Moyo found new inspiration in a familiar and comfortable environment. With their adopted homebase of Amsterdam under lockdown and their touring activities halted due to the pandemic, the band felt a renewed sense of freedom being back in Shitamachi, or the old downtown area of their hometown. With unrestricted time in the studio, they began to build upon the demos and song fragments they'd amassed since their last tour. In the 1.5 months spent in Tokyo, everything started to come together. 'Monaka,' its name taken from a type of Japanese wafer sweets, takes melodic inspiration from traditional minyofolk styles, while 'Yayoi Iyayoi' is a rare instance of the band singing in their native tongue, its evocative lyrics utilizing archaic words taken from old poetry and nature books found in one of the many second-hand bookstores of Tokyo. For 'Meu Mar,' an Erasmos Carlos cover, the original Portuguese lyrics were translated into English, then to Japanese. Strangely enough, the words seem to conjure an image of the protagonist floating among the clouds, looking down upon Tokyo Bay. In fact, it may be possible to draw a parallel between the topography of the band's home country... an island nation, surrounded by bodies of water... and the mysterious isle of Kumoyo. Are they one and the same? Has the band finally made it back home? It's up to the listener to decide..

One of the biggest rarities from the kosmische kraut underground scene has to be Hardy Kukuk's lost 1981 top Berlin School electronic masterpiece 'Atemnot'. Kukuk's synth explorations take the adventures of Tangerine Dream or Klaus Schulze one step further into the early eighties. For these privately released recordings Kukuk was joined by Andreas Schneider on guitar and congas, and Klaus Bloch (of A La Ping Pong-fame) on guitar and tape effects. LAIR (pronounced "lah-eer," a local dialect for the Indonesian word of 'lahir', meaning `birth' or, roughly 'being born') is a 6-piece psych-soul/funk outfit hailing from Jatiwangi, West Java, Indonesia. In 'Ngélar,' the sextet's sophomore LP, deeper social narratives and more intimate subject matters are more apparent. In which they speak a lot about 'tanah' or 'land/soil,' owing a lot to the fact that their hometown, Jatiwangi's history of being the country's largest producer of clay/terracotta-based products. The people in Jatiwangi's intertwining relationship with 'tanah' is simply unparalleled... even their instruments are mostly made of terracotta. From the reimagining of their hometown's past glories, LAIR, along with singer/songwriter Monica Hapsari (who co-wrote and co-composed three songs in the album) and Go Kurosawa (Kikagaku Moyo) helming the project as the producer, sings about the rituals and traditions of harvest, to sending off prayers towards their once-prospering land and the ruins of what was once a dense forest in Jatiwangi, which they are currently trying to reclaim while racing with the massive wave of industrialisation. It is a contextually-sorrowful album as much as it is a candid, cheery commemoration of the band members' everyday life in today's northern shores of Java, Indonesia. Ngélar is one of the words that might be able to describe the essence of LAIR as a group. The word itself can be traced back to the locals' culture of 'going around in celebration of something.' In their village, ngélar simply means a traveling performance, in which the performers would play music and go around the village, greeting the people around them as they move from place to place, or simply within their immediate surroundings, indicating that there is something nearby that is being celebrated. LAIR is simply in love with 'journey,' 'time,' and all of their interactions. Ngélar, for them, is a representation of their journey. How they go around, interacting and communicating, to celebrating and making sense of everything that is going on within and around them. For LAIR, 'Ngélar' is a method, a creative process, and, as an album, a culmination of each of their journeys since the group's founding.

After 53 years of oblivion, 'Walking Up Con Los Walkers,' the fundamental work of Argentinian garage-psych is being reissued again in Argentina from the original mono master tape. An iconic LP from "the other" youngster music -the one that was known as "beat music"- it was originally released in 1969 and has never been reissued in its original format until now.
The band had previously released two LPs and several 45s which contained an exquisite selection of covers, from The Rolling Stones material to songs by Astor Piazzola, but with 'Walking Up' they entered history as excellent songwriters and conceptual artists. With a great use of studio production, unseen before in Argentina, they laid down a wide range of psychedelic sounds and structures that decades later will be considered as the Buenos Aires version of Los Shakers' 'La Conferencia Secreta Del Toto's Bar,' being both albums under a huge influence from The Beatles' 'Sgt. Pepper's.' The album is part of the "Music Hall Catalogue," whose titles were embargoed for production from 1993 through 2016, when the INAMU filed a lawsuit to lift the embargo and make the rights to this recordings return to their authors and performers so they could make use of them. For that reason, there hadn't been any previous legit reissues of 'Walking Up' and original copies became extremely sought after among collectors. 'Walking Up Con Los Walkers - 53° Aniversario' is the result of hard research and preservation work by Zelmar Garín for the "Vinilo & Sustancia" podcast productions. As part of Noseso Records' release schedule the original open reel master tape was rescued from the Music Hall archives (now at INAMU) and technically treated to restore the damage that may have occured through the years. It was then respectfully remastered by Gustavo Gauvry to preserve the textures and nuances from that old mono mix and replicate again the power and warmth of a vinyl pressing. This limited edition of only 300 copies can be considered as a deluxe package, with the careful restoration and printing of the original artwork, a pressing on 180gr vinyl, a printed postcard and a lavish 4-page booklet with photos and liner notes by journalist Víctor Tapia. 'Walking Up' sees the light again thanks to the contributions of Carlos Altamirano and Fonocal, who ceded the rights for this edition, the coproduction of Mono/Estéreo and the support and financial backing from INAMU and the MECENAZGO program.

The name derives not from any kind of ancient civilization, but rather a neologism defined as the imagined view outside one's field of vision. The band -currently a trio of Tsutomu Sonoda, Ryota Takano, and Shoei Ikeda- finds sanctuary at the Ace General Store, a beachy vintage shop and salon-like space just hidden from sight from the bustling, touristy riverside Subana Street. Between discussions on music and art, curating the vinyl section and manning the register, and chatting up with locals young and old, the members find time to jam and record their spontaneous ideas in the studio tucked away in the back. It's in this unlikely setting where Maya Ongaku finds its origins, the culmination of what Sonoda describes as shizen hassei, meaning spontaneous generation, or the supposed production of living organisms from nonliving matter. 'Approach To Anima,' the group's debut album released on Guruguru Brain, finds Maya Ongaku building a foundational groove while tapping into their innermost psyche. Sonoda's malleable guitar and vocals, Takano's sinuous bass lines, Ikeda's floating woodwinds, and a sprinkling of delicate percussion all coalesce into an aural experience that's assertive yet abstract, calm but unsettling. The slow building, sax-laden 'Approach' serves as an introduction to Maya Ongaku's world, while the appropriately-named 'Water Dream' floats its way toward the gentle finale of 'Pillow Song.' It's a concise distillation of their many interests and influences, from Neo-Dada and Fluxus, to where contemporary art intersects with the development of modern recording technology in the '60s and '70s. As the title suggests, 'Approach To Anima' is not intended to be a terminus; it's merely the beginning of an exploration. The three childhood friends that comprise Maya Ongaku are always looking beyond the confines of the idyllic but rapidly gentrifying enclave of their beloved Enoshima. Feeding off of the energy that still radiates from the triumphant, decade-long journey of their label bosses' band Kikagaku Moyo, who rose to global prominence from scrappy beginnings busking on the streets of Takadanobaba, they hope to go wherever inspiration takes them, to anywhere around the globe where their music can find a home. Ultimately, Maya Ongaku's uninhibited world-building will make it possible for us to see the unseen, expand the possibilities of the naked eye... all through the unbridled vibrancy of their music.

"Our new album is filled with a kind of sensibility that wasn't a part of our first one: a desire to get anyone who hears it to get up and dance. We spent 2023 playing a good number of live shows, from touring and playing festivals throughout Europe and Japan. We are a band without a drummer, and we've been using synths and drum machines - jamming along with machines so to speak - to freely rearrange the songs from our debut album. That experience is what motivated us to make this EP. Playing live in front of a crowd allowed our music to go through a gradual transmutation. It instilled us with the desire to make more people dance. The title of the EP is 'Electronic Phantoms.' We are reaching a point where our lives are at the mercy of electronics. With the development of new technologies like AI, it's becoming harder to distinguish between what is real and what is computer-generated. These circumstances can be likened to the appearance of a phantom. The world of virtual reality can also be described as an electronic phantom. What kind of music will result if we take a world lived in by spiritual beings and express it with something diametrically opposite, with sounds generated by machines? That is the main idea behind the creation of this EP. To be deceived by machines, or to have our knowledge overtaken - those ideas don't frighten us. Rather, we'd like to reach a level of understanding with machines. Through jamming along with them. 'Subtropic Cosmos' is the international debut album by Japanese artist Hitomi Moriwaki. Composed and recorded at her Fukuoka home during the worldwide pandemic between 2020-2022, the album was produced by Hideki Urawa, who has also worked with Kikagaku Moyo and other musical acts on Guruguru Brain. Hitomi Moriwaki is a multidisciplinary artist working with a wide range of mediums besides music, including: magazines, ceramics, digital art, and animation. 'Subtropic Cosmos' in particular is a wonderful work that conveys the "joy of making things" to listeners, as it is filled with various influences from her diverse activities. As suggested by the album title, most of the songs were created under the unprecedented conditions of corona - and as a result, were inspired by the consciousness of traveling through imaginary foreign lands and nature. As if adventuring through the universe inside of her own mind, Moriwaki's versatility is best experienced through her fearless fusion of hip-hop, pop and experimental music. Through a lens of psychedelic production by Hideki Urawa, this album is a truly special, one-of-a-kind space experience for listeners to enjoy and embark upon.

Recorded in 1971 and originally only issued in France by CBS, the first LP by post-SPOILS OF WAR band Mormos is a masterpiece of fabulous experimental psychedelic acid folk sounds and bizarre melodies. Influences from contemporaries such as The Incredible String Band are present, as are some resemblances to the music of f.i. Comus or Dr. Strangely Strange. Mormos nevertheless created unique athmospheres which were (and are) unheard in other music of the era. Jim Cuomo formed Mormos after the demise of his Spoils Of War project. NIRVANA (UK) - DEDICATED TO MARKOS III (+7")
Nirvana's third LP is a masterpiece of late UK sixties popsike turning into symphonic pop, but not having received proper promotion despite being equally good as, if not better than their previous releases, it also marked the end of the collaborations between Patrick Campbel-Lyons and Alex Spyropoulos back in 1969. Nirvana presented it to Island boss Chris Blackwell under the title of 'Black Flower.' Blackwell, however, decided to turn it down for release, but gave the masters to Campbell-Lyons and Spyropoulos so they could find a new label to release the album. That was to happen in the USA through Metromedia Records in 1969. At that time, the label's owner went through a scandal due to the payola days, which left Nirvana's third offering without any promotion - as a result of that, very few copies were pressed. There was also a UK release on PYE and it was even released by Metromedia in Japan. However, for years it remained as "the lost" Nirvana release, with the added fact that none of the released editions launched the album under its original title of 'Black Flower' but under the rather cryptic 'Dedicated To Markos III' (read why in the liner notes!). Musically, this is Nirvana at their best. The tune that should have been the title track, 'Black Flower,' is an incredible piece of symphonic psychedelia and probably the best produced Nirvana track ever. Campbell-Lyons and Spyropoulos were backed for the occasion by Spooky Tooth, who played on many tracks of the album, and big orchestral arrangements mesmerize the listener in one of the duo's darkest offerings. This song aside, the rest of the album was deemed as sounding too much like a French soundtrack by Island, which may do at some points -without that being a bad thing,- but there is a lot more to it, since Nirvana have not lost that popsike edge that characterised their sound in their two previous outings. This is also a record that was widely acclaimed in the hip hop scene. And samplers of it have been used by several artists, most notably DJ Shadow used 'Love Suite' in his 1996 debut album 'Endtroducing.' The Wah Wah edition has been remastered from the original tapes by Roger Prades at Prades Mastering and comes with a bonus 7" EP (featuring the tracks 'We Can Make It Through,' 'Love Suite Take 2' and 'June') and a four page colour insert with liner notes by Malcom Dome, plus a sheet with the lyrics of the songs. First ever official vinyl reissue since 1970 in a limited edition of 500 copies only!

'MEXICO MAGICO COSMICO, EL OMBLIGO DE LA LUNA' - Following a decade playing in Mexico City's psychedelic rock scene, Luis Perez's early solo work was a mixture of sounds derived from his vast array of pre-Hispanic and ethnographic wind and percussion instruments which he managed to blend with electronic devices including tape delay units, electric guitars and synthesisers. During this time, he was given the name Ixoneztli (or "one who makes music") by the legendary curandera Pachita and her son Enrique, to whom, like Alejandro Jodorowsky before him, Luis served as assistant. In 1981, the Mexican government became very interested Perez's work and sponsored the production of what became the first recording of the fusion of native Mexican instruments with electronics - entitled 'Ipan In Xiktli Metztli', in the Nahuatl language, or 'En El Ombligo De La Luna' in Spanish ('In The Navel Of The Moon'). The impact of this recording and subsequent performances among media, ethnomusicologists and audiences alike established Luis Perez Ixoneztli as a precursor to a new musical genre followed by a generation of young Mexican musicians playing ethno-rock, ethno-jazz, ethno-experimental and the like.

Pip Proud, sui generis, could be considered an Australian
outsider, with his untutored and uninhibited singing style, his
primal guitar playing, his resolutely personal vision captured on recordings from 1967 to the early '70s - except that, unlike most outsiders, he was loved and accepted, with two of his three album releases on a major label, with frequent television appearances and coverage in music magazines. Heralded in his native land though he was, he maintained a low profile from the early '70s, never made an impact overseas, and his recordings have been difficult to access. Before he was involved in recording the amazing Beautiful Losers' LP 'Nobody Knows The Heaven' (a French cult title from 1974), Jay Alansky (a.k.a. Patrick Arondel) was part of a young group called SEASON, of which the members had an average age of 16. That band recorded an obscure psych-folk LP which belongs to the secret treasures of the French early '70s underground. On vinyl, here's a splendid reissue of that 1971 album, with remastered sound and reproduced artwork. Also included -as a bonus- are both tracks from the band's rare '72 single 'Hello Life'/'Inside The Sacred Book' and an insert with liner notes. Edition of only 500 copies!

Black vinyl version. After a long hiatus, Soft Hearted Scientists returned in 2023 with their most ambitious album yet, packed with psych pop singles and longer sound journeys such as 'Waltz Of The Weekend,' 'Anemone Song' and 'Lost Mariners.' And now it's time for the album to make its first appearance on vinyl, courtesy of Fruits de Mer Records. There have been glowing reviews of the CD album, but one comment summed up the progress the album represents for the band in simple terms: "The pop songs have got poppier, and the weird songs have got weirder." Producer Frank Naughton came into his own at the mixing stage and helped to graft newly written sections into some songs which gave them more depth. 'Rode My Bike' was one such song, and the middle section of that then took on a life of its own to become a standalone track called 'Gadzooks!,' probably the most over-the-top song they have ever released, tipping its hat to the Butthole Surfers' cover version of 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' and James Bond themes along the way. 'Who Loves The Moon?' grew from a few chords and a repeated refrain of about 2 minutes into an 8 minute multi- sectioned trip; similarly, 'Lost Mariners' grew from a short mantra into an 11 minute ghost story. The album finished with obsessive attention to detail in 2023 was vastly superior to the album band leader Nathan Hall and his fellow members tentatively started in 2019. And now Fruits de Mer Records are more than a bit pleased to be releasing 'Waltz Of The Weekend' on vinyl - SIX sides of it (we try not to do things by halves). In addition to the 12 tracks from the 75 minute CD edition, side five of the vinyl set includes three radical remixes of the songs 'Rode My Bike,' 'What Grows Inside The Garden' and 'The Sea Anemone Song' by producer Frank Naughton, while the final side contains a sidelong remix/remake of elements of the album by Frank who ripped the songs to bits with glee, free from Nathan Hall's album mix obsessiveness, and remade them as he wished without inhibition - what a trip.

A 6 LP box by Sula Bassana, simply titled 'The Box'. It contains 3 double LPs with gatefold colour sleeves and with these titles: 'Endless Winter' (on clear and black mixed vinyl), this music was recorded in March 2006 and has previously only been released as a limited CD-r. 'Silent Music' (on transparent blue with some black mixed vinyl) is for sure the softest music recorded by Sula, recorded between 1999 and 2009 at different places and only previously available on a limited CD-r. The third double LP (on black and solid orange mixed vinyl) contains one LP with the split albums (with Vibravoid and 3 AM), both released on vinyl in a small print run and an album with unreleased and newly recorded tracks. The box is strictly limited to 500 copies.

Every summer, Cardigan's Cellar Bar plays host to two days and three nights of great live music, organized by Sendelica's Pete Bingham and supported by the global might of Fruits de Mer Records, kindly sponsored by Record Collector magazine and Cardigan's Mantle Brewery. 'The 17th Dream Of Dr. Sardonicus Live' is a double LP celebrating the 2019 get-together of the friends and extended family of Fruits de Mer Records and Sendelica, held as always in the shadow of Cardigan Castle in the Cellar Bar. The 2019 festival saw a pretty amazing line-up of artists, from legends such as The Bevis Frond, Ken Pustelnik's Groundhogs and The Chemistry Set to new artists like Moon Goose, Elfin Bow and Sarah Birch - and of course Fruits de Mer and local favourites, Sendelica; but almost as amazing was the fact that all three nights of recordings went really well, so they had a hell of a job selecting the tracks for this set... They decided to include as many performances as possible within the confines of 20 minutes per side (not that easy when some of the bands think 20 minutes is the length of a typical intro!); amongst the tracks you'll find Elfin Bow playing Stevie Marriott and the Chemistry Set playing Hendrix, but have a listen for yourself and enjoy all three days crammed into 80 minutes.

Blending analogue electronic elements with a.o. piano, vibes, flute, mellotron and a dose of ancient mystique, the music has a very natural and spiritual feel. The creative force of Via Lactea was musician Carlos Alvarado, and there are guest appearances from Jorge Reyes and Arturo Meza. This beautiful album -with remastered sound and a bonus track- is pressed in an edition of 500 copies and housed in a silk screened envelope style cover. The colour insert offers liner notes and rare photos, and -as with the original copies- you also get a Momia label sticker. Wonderful!

VLASMAN, TON - WHITE ROOM WITH DISINTEGRATING...
...Walls". Ton Vlasman recorded this amazing piece of acid euro folk back in 1970, making it sound like an outter space freaked out Bob Dylan with the help of Frans Schoonen (organ, flute and harmonica) and Leo van Vugt (chincha tumba and tambourine). The seven original compositions are stunning, drug inspired psychedelic pieces of acid folk that mix Dylan with Indian ragas and even add some Pink Floyd overtones, yet from an acoustic rather than electric point of view. And the album contains also a very cool version of The Velvet Underground's "Pale Blue Eyes". If you evered wondered how would Dylan have sounded covering The V.U., here's a close example! The album, originally released on the small Flame label from Amsterdam, sold poorly back in the seventies - thus becoming a collector's piece when it was rediscovered in the eighties. Since then it has been gathering new fans that pay small fortunes for a copy, no reissue has been available until now that Wah Wah offers 500 copies in a lavish edition that will probably sell out soon, so grab your copy before it's too late! The beautiful cover art and full color poster insert with the lyrics are the work of Leendert Le Duc, and both are here faithfully reproduced as they deserve. The Wah Wah reissue also features an extra insert with a text by reputed dutch collector Jean Jöbses and a couple of rare unseen period photos courtesi of the Frans Schoonen and Leo van Vugt archives. The album has been carefully remastered by sound wizard Denis Blackham @ Skye Mastering, making these songs sound like never before.

ZWEISTEIN - TRIP, FLIP-OUT, MEDITATION (3LP+7")
EDITION OF 500. DELUXE TRIPLE-LP with remastered sound and including a BONUS 7-INCH. Like the original copies, this reissue comes in a metallic silver and gold embossed cardboard gatefold gimmick sleeve, which even has a little mirror in it. The insert features liners and rare pix. Originally released on Philips in 1970 (but soon after withdrawn!), Zweistein's trippy kraut/psych/experimental masterpiece, which sounds more experimental than Faust, Kraftwerk or Cluster, gets its first vinyl reissue ever. Though presented as a band, Zweistein basically was the project of Suzanne Doucet, a successful German pop singer and TV personality then, and now a famous voice in New Age music. She recorded her avant-garde master piece with her sister Diane and sound engineer Peter Kramper, who's also been involved in recordings of The Rattles, Blizzards, Hawkwind, Amon Düül and Utopia. This is an amazing reissue!

Another Junkshop Glam jam sees a reissue: A Raincoat's 'It Came In Night'. Here it comes with a different B-side, entitled 'Vote For Me' instead of the original B-side 'Morocco'. A Raincoat was a studio creation from Andy Arthurs. 'It Came In The Night' was used in Kenneth Anger's short film from 1979, 'Rabbit's Moon'. It sounds like prime era Giorgio Moroder producing a Halloween record for The Sparks. This is the first time this single has been available since 1976.

CTMF (The Chatham Forts) was the first group name Billy Childish came up with for a group whilst he was Head of Research for The Medway Military Research Group - investigating the Medway Fortifications (as well as being an Apprentice Stonemason at Chatham Dockyard, Kent, 1976). It wasn't until 2013 that Billy got around to utilising the name. CTMF features his wife Julie on bass/vocals and Wolf Howard on drums (both playing with Billy in previous incarnations over the years). CTMF - described by Billy as `the epitome of modern: the sound of yesterday, tomorrow!', CTMF have released ten albums and over thirty singles/EPs. Come September 2024, The CTMF found themselves in the studio, the tape machine running. Quick as you like Julie (bass) suggested they record three of her favourite 'hits' from The Yardbirds song book. Precision bass in hand, and taking lead vocals (with their 14 year old kid Atticus on backing vocals), The CTMF got to work, thus revealing these manley Yardbirds ditty's are gems for the female voice also. Top marks! 'For Your Love' takes Face A, with 'Shapes Of Things' and 'A Certain Boy' for Face B. Limited to 500 copies.

Fruits de Mer gets back to its roots as a '60s/'70s covers label as The Monkees' classic 'Pleasant Valley Sunday' (written by Goffin/King) is coupled with 'Let's Get Together' (written by Chet Powers aka Dino Valenti, arguably the quintessential 1960s love-and-peace anthem) on a 7" single lovingly put together by Astralasia's Swordfish, with the help of a number of Fruits de Mer Records' friends, including Anton Barbeau, Crystal Jacqueline, Icarus Peel, John Chinn, Paul Chousner, Holly Bowler and more, recording together under the delightful collective name of The Fishheads. For added authenticity, the single is cut in mono, the sleeve is one of those glossy flipback jobs (the glue tabs are on top of the rear face of the sleeve as opposed to being inside, like 7" EPs used to be). The single comes with a bonus CD, including stereo versions, an alternative mix of 'Pleasant Valley Sunday' and a modest little 40 minute mix by Swordfish that occasionally sounds a bit like the tracks that it's based on.

Caesars Palace aka The Twelve Caesars aka Caesars travelled the world in search of world dominance for about a decade around the turn of the century. With their unbridled garage pop they turned some heads, rocked out and had a massive hit with the song 'Jerk It Out' used in an Apple commercial. This record collects early releases of Caesars in their infancy when their sound was more primal outpatient garage rawk, but still had those sweet, sweet melodies. 'Rock De Puta Mierda!' was a 1996 MCD long out of print and never released on vinyl and you'll find it here along with their very first 7" from 1995 as well as a few rare tracks from the early daze when the band wasn't afraid of being sued.

We left off a few of their acoustic numbers in favor of three superb previously unreleased tacks: 'Lazy River,' 'Save Me' and 'Lola.' Shakane was never tied down to one particular genre. The Sparkles were associated with the garage-band and psychedelic rock scene of 1960s Texas, as epitomized by their classic underground hit 'No Friend Of Mine'. The line-up changed few times before 1962, and Stanley Smith finally recruit Harold "Lucky" Floyd (drums and vocals), Donnie Roberts (guitar) and Bobby Smith (bass). Their first recording was the single 'U.T.' under the small label Caron. This third incarnation proved a great hit among the clubs of West Texas, notably the Music Box and The Village Swinger. Indeed, in 2000, local legend Joe Ely described them as the "city's best rock'n'roll band" in the history of the Lubbock music scene published by Texas Monthly. Interestingly, The Sparkles boasted a pair of drummers, with one, the flamboyant Harold Floyd, also
lending his voice to their performances. 1966 would constitute a turning point for The Sparkles. Larry Parks -drummer for Roy Orbison, turned producer in Nashville, Tennessee- invited them to sign with Hickory Records, the historic music label founded
by Roy Acuff and Fred Rose in 1954. The band came up with 'The Hip', which proved an immediate hit in Austin and extremely popular within the fraternity scene at the University of Texas. On a roll, The Sparkles then recorded 'Something You Said' followed by 'Jack And The Beanstalk'. In 1967, The Sparkles, already a decade old, recorded their chef-d'oeuvre 'No Friend Of Mine', with Nunn's raging guitar riffs and Floyd's remarkably tense vocals. This fiery tour de force would be consecrated by its inclusion on the first CD set of the legendary compilation 'Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968'. Following their final single, 'Hipsville 29 B.C.', for Hickory Records, The Sparkles once again entered rocky waters, with Nunn and Holt finally deciding to throw in the towel in 1968. Floyd, Smith and Marriot immediately set sail for California, along the way renaming their group The Pearly Gate. This brief interlude would include a handful of appearances on the ABC sitcom 'Judd, For The Defense'. Legend has it, they were also scheduled to perform before Bobby Kennedy the evening of his tragic
assassination on June 5th 1968... Returning to Texas, Floyd, Smith and Marriot resurrected The Sparkles, bringing into the fold Steve Weisberg, future guitarist for John Denver. But Floyd's departure in 1975 for California to join Red Wilder Blue spelled the end of this group's 15-year musical odyssey, a tumultuous journey typical of such modest rock'n'roll heroes posthumously crowned by multiple thematic compilations. However, the one you're now holding constitutes the very first anthology dedicated to these incredible Texans.

WILLIAM LOVEDAY INTENTION - SECRET INTENTION
The William Loveday Intention* is the latest incarnation of song and dance man Wild Billy Childish, who has been recording and performing since the 1977 punk explosion; notably with The Pop Rivets, The Milkshakes, Thee Mighty Caesars, Thee Headcoats, The Buff Medways and CTMF, and many more! The 'intention' of The William Loveday group was to revisit some early tunes which Billy had imagined could be orchestrated. This was the beginning of a 'career in a year' when he accidentally recorded over 14 LPs during the lockdown at Jim Riley's Ranscombe Studios in Rochester. Between painting and poetry, Billy has released over 170 albums and many singles. Artists as diverse as Mudhoney and Kylie Minogue have cited Childish as an influence. Here we have eight of the latest of the Intention's recordings, which includes some interpretations of some blues-folk classics. *The group's name can be attributed to Billy's grandmother, Ivy Loveday, who registered his birth as William Ivy Loveday, with William being his great grandfather's name. Limited to 500 hand-numbered copies.
