Deaf Lizard's sound is a rough orgy of heavy fuzz rock paired with psychedelic and doomy ingredients that will hit you before you know it. Years of experience and the upmost worship of the forefathers of heavy rock lead the band to continue on their quest for stoner galore. While their self-released debut album 'No Man's Sky' was welcomed wholeheartedly by the stoner rock community in 2020, Deaf Lizard release their second coming 'The Last Odyssey' through Electric Valley Records. Despite the doomy title, the band has no plans to slow down after Covid. This album brings with it seven songs that will melt every doubt about the band's renewed vitality right off the listener's face. With a more focused and developed sound, the band delivers the same energy you can expect from their live shows. 'The Last Odyssey' sets off where its predeccesor 'No Man's Sky' ended. Deaf Lizard have put their time off during the pandemic to good use, hence shaping their sound towards a more focused and punchy result. The seven songs of the album showcase stylistic varities ranging from heavy doom to psychedelic improvisation. Extensive songs like 'The Devil's Show' and 'Independent Terror' hit you hard with slow grinding guitars and heavyweight drums only to make way for more straightforward heavy rock in songs like 'City Of Life' and 'Nuclear.' Opening the second half of the record, the mesmerizing 'Lady In Black' leads into psychedelic territory of the long-winded but captivating 'Ape's Odyssey,' an eight minute psych jam with lots of precisley carried out improvisation. The album closer 'The Veil' stems from early sessions for the first album culminating the album's captivating energy in an ecstatic finale. The lyrics of the album losely follow humanity's self-inflicted downfall and its aftermath providing doomy meaning to the album's title 'The Last Odyssey.' Fans of bands like Monolord, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs and Black Rainbows will not be disappointed.

The sole album from male-female duo Jade Stone & Luv is a lost gem from the heart of the psychedelic 1970s. A long-time cult item and highly praised in the 'Acid Archives' book. Composed and self-produced in Nashville, 'Mosaics, Pieces Of Stone' went unnoticed by the music industry upon release. While almost unknown outside specialist circles, 'Mosaics' has been an underground cult favorite for many years. One day he met the local sangoma, who had a prophecy where Waina had a major part to revamp the legacy of Zamrock in a different time and era. The witch doctor said that you will meet three rockers from the land of a thousand of lakes and together you will make history. The young and naive Waina didn't believe a word, until years later the prophecy came true and Zangoma was born. Zangoma hails from Tampere, Finland and comprises of the Zambian vocalist Waina Kolomwe, singer/guitarist Ville Salonen, singer/bassist Riku Pirttiniemi (Death Hawks, Dust Mountain), and drummer Miikka Heikkinen (Death Hawks). They play Zamrock, a genre that gained popularity in Zambia during the '70s. It's a fusion of traditional African music and psychedelic-, garage-, and hard rock with some funk and blues in the mix as well. Bands like Black Sabbath, Funkadelic, The Rolling Stones, Blue Cheer, Cream and Deep Purple had a major part in shaping the music.

With 'Exile To Beyn Neharot,' Wyatt E. created the soundtrack of the people of the city of Jerusalem who were sent in exile to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar II after the siege of the city in 587 BC. The album is divided into 2 parts: one devoted to the emperor and his military campaign that led to the exile, the other to an allegiance, real or otherwise, to the goddess Ishtar. The record is the first real album of the band ('Mount Sinai/Aswan' being an EP) and marks the band's debut on the doom/drone scene. It was first released by Jerusalem's label Shalosh Cult.

After two years in the making, Wyatt E. seals their long-awaited return in 2025 with the highly anticipated narrative sequel to 'Al Beluti Darû': 'Zamaru Ultu Qereb Ziqquratu Part 1' (Music from inside the Ziggurat). It is the first chapter of a set of 2 concept albums in which the band deepens its exploration of ancient Babylon with an almost mythical approach through the eyes of the exiled captives from Jerusalem. Featuring contributions from 7 international collaborators, 'Zamaru Ultu Qereb Ziqquratu' is poised to become one of the most ambitious projects in the doom scene in terms of production and conception and it is released by the finest label in the genre: Heavy Psych Sounds. The album pushes sonic boundaries by featuring two drummers recorded simultaneously, creating the immersive effect of distant crowds. An eclectic mix of instruments, including the saz, viola, sitar, and bugle, blend with both analog and digital elements to enrich the soundscape. A nod to Turkish composer Fazil Say is also present, with a quotation from his symphony 'Mesopotamia.' For the first time, two vocal tracks appear alongside the instrumental pieces. Iranian singer Nina Saiedi lends her ethereal voice to 'The Diviner's Prayer To The Gods Of The Night,' sung in Akkadian, while Jerusalem's choir conductor Tomer Damsky delivers a captivating performance of 'Im Lelya' in Aramaic adding a deep vocal layer to the album. Recorded with Reed at the helm, 'Lightning In A Bottle' recalls the best of what has allowed Pentagram to cast an influence across decades and generations of musicians, bands, and worshippers of Riff, and as just their third studio release in the last 15 years, it's not a moment to neglect as they dig into a cut like 'Dull Pain' or 'Lady Heroin,' the latter of which is a naked reconciliation on the part of Liebling with a lifelong addiction to opiates that's become an inextricable part of the Pentagram story. As he wonders in the lyrics, "Lady Heroin, have I seen the last of you?" it becomes difficult to know whether the separation would be through sobriety or death, and that ambiguity becomes part of what makes the song so striking. Between records like 'Relentless' and 'Show 'Em How,' Pentagram have never wanted for self-awareness in terms of album titles. The gauntlet thrown down by 'Lightning In A Bottle' is very much in this tradition. The 10th Pentagram album sees founding frontman and doom figurehead Bobby Liebling leading a new cast of players that includes guitarist/producer Tony Reed (Mos Generator, Big Scenic Nowhere, etc.), drummer Henry Vasquez (Legions Of Doom, Saint Vitus, Blood Of The Sun, etc.) and bassist Scooter Haslip (Mos Generator, Saltine). It would be hard to overstate the energy the new band brings to songs like 'Live Again,' 'Solve The Puzzle' or 'In The Panic Room,' but 'Lightning In A Bottle' is unmistakably a Pentagram record, of course in Liebling's unremittingly charismatic performance and the groove conjured to back it. Recorded with Reed at the helm, 'Lightning In A Bottle' recalls the best of what has allowed Pentagram to cast an influence across decades and generations of musicians, bands, and worshippers of Riff, and as just their third studio release in the last 15 years, it's not a moment to neglect as they dig into a cut like 'Dull Pain' or 'Lady Heroin,' the latter of which is a naked reconciliation on the part of Liebling with a lifelong addiction to opiates that's become an inextricable part of the Pentagram story. As he wonders in the lyrics, "Lady Heroin, have I seen the last of you?" it becomes difficult to know whether the separation would be through sobriety or death, and that ambiguity becomes part of what makes the song so striking.
