Nineteen tracks recorded for the BBC in excellent sound quality explore the variety of music made by Derek, Phil and Ray Shulman aka Simon Dupree and the Big Sound. Material varies from the psychedelic 1967 hit 'Kites,' via soul-based material by such as Homer Banks and Jackie Edwards through to grungier cover versions of Mouse & The Traps and Spirit. The band split in 1969: the following year the Shulman brothers reconvened as prog-rock pioneers Gentle Giant. Comes with full credits and extensive sleeve notes.

Based in Oakland, California, Justin Pinkerton has perfected and expanded his Futuropaco project to a stunning degree over the past years. The one-man band is deeply rooted in Pinkerton's masterful drumming, which builds on the legacy of 1960s and '70s legends such as Tony Allen and Jaki Liebezeit. But he's an accomplished multi-instrumentalist as well, and the Futuropaco sound is a colourful fusion that sees him throw fuzz guitars, flutes, vintage synthesizers and Anatolian string instruments into the mix, seemingly without much effort. The second and final volume of the 'Fortezza Di Vetro' series feels like a conclusion, the sound of an artist reaching his creative zenith.

Only in retrospect have the Pink Fairies taken their rightful place in UK music history. They looked like hippies but acted like punks and played fast, invigorating rock'n'roll at a time when it was in short supply. This collection of 10 tracks recorded at four BBC sessions showcases some of their best-known numbers as well as four cover versions never released on the band's studio LPs. The sound quality is excellent throughout, apart from the Feb '71 session which is reasonable. The LP comes with full recording details and sleeve notes.

Released in 1974, studio produced, bluesy heavy guitar riffs lead by strong vocals. Very little is known about Joe Prichard or his sidekicks, except that the band, which hailed from Missouri, drew its inspiration from influences far and wide, resulting in each of the 5 tracks being very different in character, ranging from the power chords and staccato guitar breaks of the Jimmy Page variety, to the throaty sax of 12-bar blues specialists Climax as well as the dual guitars of ZZ Top. There's even a 9-minute jam a la Jethro Tull or Traffic with flute and sax giving a decidedly jazzy feel to proceedings. This is another extremely rare record put out by RidingEasy Records. "Pro-sounding 1970s rarity with a ballsy rock sound and songs ranging from ambitious prog over bluesy bar-rock into macho FM rock postures. It's solid across the board with excellent guitar leads, soulful vocals, and a versatile band.
Keyboards, woodwinds and elaborate arrangements provide a prog-AOR vibe that may turn some off, although there's enough groove to keep one's attention throughout the four long tracks." ~Acid Archives.

SAVARIN, JULIAN JAY - BEYOND THE OUTER MIRR
Julian's Treatment was formed in late 1960s London, at the tail-end of the psychedelic era, which morphed into the early progressive rock scene. Band leader Julian Jay Savarin, of French/Mayan descent, left Dominica in the early '60s to study law in the UK. His fascination with space and aviation led him to join the R.A.F. before immersing himself in London's exciting underground music scene. The cosmically enhanced debut (double concept) album by Julian's Treatment, titled: 'A Time Before This,' was released in 1970 and has gone on to be a cult classic of the era. As Julian turned his talents toward becoming a prolific Science Fiction writer, Julian's Treatment stepped away from the live arena. As result they became a studio band with new members, including the enigmatic (former Catapilla) vocalist Lady Jo Meek. A second album was recorded with this new line-up, as a companion to Julian's first book: 'Waiters On The Dance,' being published in 1972. The album, of the same name was released in early 1973. Since then, Julian went on to have an impressive volume of acclaimed books published in his name, though nothing has been heard of him musically. Little did we all know that a follow-up album to 'Waiters On the Dance' had been recorded in 1975 but, for whatever reason, it has never seen the light of day, until now!
'Beyond The Outer Mirr' is, undoubtedly a holy grail from the golden era of early progressive rock. Vocalist, Lady Jo Meek, puts in an incredible performance which will leave listeners stunned.

the past years. The one-man band is deeply rooted in

SAVARIN, JULIAN JAY - BEYOND THE OUTER MIRR
Julian's Treatment was formed in late 1960s London, at the tail-end of the psychedelic era, which morphed into the early progressive rock scene. Band leader Julian Jay Savarin, of French/Mayan descent, left Dominica in the early '60s to study law in the UK. His fascination with space and aviation led him to join the R.A.F. before immersing himself in London's exciting underground music scene. The cosmically enhanced debut (double concept) album by Julian's Treatment, titled: 'A Time Before This,' was released in 1970 and has gone on to be a cult classic of the era. As Julian turned his talents toward becoming a prolific Science Fiction writer, Julian's Treatment stepped away from the live arena. As result they became a studio band with new members, including the enigmatic (former Catapilla) vocalist Lady Jo Meek. A second album was recorded with this new line-up, as a companion to Julian's first book: 'Waiters On The Dance,' being published in 1972. The album, of the same name was released in early 1973. Since then, Julian went on to have an impressive volume of acclaimed books published in his name, though nothing has been heard of him musically. Little did we all know that a follow-up album to 'Waiters On the Dance' had been recorded in 1975 but, for whatever reason, it has never seen the light of day, until now!
'Beyond The Outer Mirr' is, undoubtedly a holy grail from the golden era of early progressive rock. Vocalist, Lady Jo Meek, puts in an incredible performance which will leave listeners stunned.

GRUPA STRESS - ON A HARD ROCK WAY 1972-1973
This album collects the complete set of the band's preserved recordings from 1972-1973, recorded at four radio sessions.
For those who don't know Stress's music, we'll inform you that it was the first real Polish power trio. The band played a raw and quite dark type of rock, characterized by heavy but catchy riffs, brilliant guitar solos, dynamic drumming and a monumental bass sound. Stress also didn't shy away from sound experiments (like playing a tape backwards) and expanding their instrumentation with a flute, vibraphone and violin. It's hard to believe that in the PR studio in Poznan, this almost completely forgotten band recorded truly fantastic material, standing on a European level, which beats most of the highly overrated recordings of the then aces of Polish rock. The material has been remastered straight from the master tapes and sounds great, the cover was decorated with photos from the Stress archive, and the CD is released in a fold-out, laminated card sleeve, which is a faithful replica of the identical vinyl release additionally a special envelope for the CD with photos of the band.

Sopa Boba is a Belgian/Dutch, electronic, modern classical project. The idea behind the form is a so-called Oratorio from the present age which unfolds a dramatic tale within a sociopolitical framework. The compositons incorporate a neo-classical style string quartet, harsh modular synths and spoken word vocals. It features Pavel Tchikov (Ogives), Jean Vangeebergen (zü. Klub) and G.W. Sok (The Ex, Oiseaux-Tempête). 'That Moment' is an adaptation of the eponymous text by Moldovian writer Nicola Esinencu. The starting point of 'That Moment' takes place in a real fact, which happened in present-time Moldova, where a father cut his son's finger with an axe, as a punishment for stealing a bit ofmoney from the father's wallet. From there the author combines the tale and its reality with a caustic irony,
interrogating an unbridled capitalist society, where everything
and everyone is for sale. The total playing-time is 55 minutes, somewhere in between a hybrid electronic - modern classical oratorio and a concept album, with seven tracks that serve as seven chapters of an ironic and satiric story about the downward spiral of the capitalist society.

HOSONO, HARUOMI - TALE OF GENJI
Originally released in 1987 as a film soundtrack, this expressly ambient work by the Japanese composer is based on the Gagaku style of ancient Japanese court music, but with a shimmer of tones created by one person using a computer. Unlike much of Hosono's catalogue, here the synthesiser acts mostly as an atmospheric texture and instead focuses on traditional Japanese instruments, particularly koto, flute and drums. The truly striking aspect of this soundtrack is the layering of the instruments, which accumulate to the point of becoming unfamiliar: throngs of finger-beaten strings sound like a beehive of insects, waves of gentle hand percussion sound like the swell of inhalations and exhalations, the elaborate flute suggests the howl of the wind.

Recorded in 1969, "??????????? ?????? ???' (ANS Electronic Music)' features 6 tracks of experiments on the unique machine by: Eduard Artemiev, Stanislav Kreitchi, Sándor Kallós, and Alexander Nemtin. A 'musical' machine unlike any other with a long fascinated cutting edge, modern electronic composers, notably COIL and THE ANTI GROUP COMMUNICATIONS (TAGC) / CLOCK DVA, that have both released recordings utilising the ANS.
Try to imagine a score sounding by itself without a conductor; an orchestra without musical instruments. This magic is possible by using the musical ANS synthesizer. Created by Soviet scientist Evgeny Murzin over the course of 20 years, ANS is an instrument with which a composer can not only create but also draw their music without notes. You can see the twinkling of different lamps, the rotation of grooved glass discs... The drawings on the glass are 'sounding notes'. To listen to the drawn picture, press the button and a wonderful transformation will begin.
Inside the ANS are five rotating glass discs with 144 tones printed (by hand) on each one. Light is projected through the discs and onto photovoltaic cellbank which converts the light into electricity and sends signals to the ANS's amplifiers and bandpass filters. The ANS can generate 720 tones this way and, unlike a human musician, play them all at the same time.
Murzin dedicated his photoelectronic apparatus to Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin, hence the name ANS. Scriabin, the creator of the 'Poem of Ecstasy', and a famous explorer of synesthesia, used in his works a highly chromatic, new type of harmonic style designed to express his beliefs, views and wishes.
Soviet music lovers will already know recordings made on ANS from Tarkovsky's films Solaris, The Mirror, and Stalker, Konchalovsky's film Siberiade, and others.
Presented in a digipak with the new artwork by Abby Helasdottir, complimenting the ANS process perfectly.
Officially licensed from Russian state label Melodiya.

PARKS, LLOYD - OFFICIALLY
Lloyd Parks, born on May 26, 1948, in Kingston, Jamaica, is a renowned reggae icon known for his soulful melodies and skillfully played bass lines. In the late 1960s, he performed with the Invincibles band, which included notable talents such as Ansell Collins, Sly Dunbar, and Ranchie McLean, before joining forces with Wentworth Vernal to form The Termites.
He launched a successful solo career, releasing a series of self-produced singles, including the massive hit "Officially" in 1973; this single also provided the title for the legendary and and highly sought-after 1973 album, now reissued for the first time.
