Formed in Brussels in 1970, the Jenghiz Khan line up consisted of keyboardist Tim Brean (former front man of The Tim Brean Group), guitarist Big Friswa, former Tenderfood Kids and Laurélie singer/bassist Pierre Raepsaet, and drummer Chris Tick. With support from Belgian music journalist/manager Pierre "Piero" Kenroll the group was signed by the French Barclay label. Released later in the year their debut LP teamed them with producer Eric Vion (who had previously played with Raepsaet in Tenderfood Kids).

NOVALIS - BANISHED BRIDGE
In 1971 singer Jürgen Wenzel and bassist Heino Schünzel placed an ad in the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper looking for like-minded people to form a band. Organist Lutz Rahn and drummer Hartwig Biereichel answered the ad. They called themselves Mosaik, started rehearsing and playing smaller gigs. At the suggestion of their friend and guitarist Carlo Karges (later a bandmember of Nena), they changed their name to Novalis. In 1973 the band signed a contract with Brain Records and Jochen Petersen (later keyboarder with Randy Pie) produced their debut album 'Banished Bridge' at the Chameleon Studios in Hamburg. The album was recorded completely without electric guitars, the centerpiece being the 17-minute title track 'Banished Bridge.' The music is slightly fragile, flowing, almost lyrical. The floating synthesizer and keyboard passages are reminiscent of the early works of Pink Floyd and Genesis. A debut album that already showed where the band would later go. 'Banished Bridge' remained Novalis' only English-language record, but for many it is still considered a classic of German progressive rock. After the debut album in 1973, guitarist Detlef Job joined Novalis, while frontman Jürgen Wenzel left the band. Schünzel and Job took over the vocal parts, and from then on they sang very lyrical lyrics in German. During the work on the second album, Carlo Karges also participated as guitarist, keyboard player and composer, but left the band again in 1975. In 1976 Austrian singer Fred Mühlböck joined the band. In 1985 Novalis said goodbye with the album 'Nach Uns Die Flut.' Limited coloured edition.

Oresund Space Collective (OSC), formed in 2004, is a totally improvising Scandinavian space rock band and has been releasing albums since 2006. The band has played concerts and festivals all over Europe. Their music is quite diverse and influenced by the ever-changing line up in the collective. In 2014, OSC assembled an amazing line up of clever and inspired musicians to have a few days of jams in the studio. Hasse (Tangle Edge) came down from Norway, Jonathan, KG, Mathias and Alex came down from Stockholm. Jonathan (Camper Van Beethoven, Sista Maj) had been playing with OSC for a while and KG (ex-Siena Root, Palace On Wheels) had joined them before in the studio. Mathias (My Brother The Wind) had also played live with OSC before (on bass) and was a good friend of the band. Dr Space had been a big fan and friend with the guys in Gösta Berlings Saga for a few years and thought their drummer Alex would be a great fit. Jonas (Agusa) and Mats came over the bridge from Malmö! 'Relaxing In The Himalayas' was the first piece of music that the band recorded together. This was one long relaxing jam but very refreshing and inspiring. It was previously released on CD as an OSC-Bandcamp subscriber release in 2021. Edition of 170 copies on black vinyl.

'Secos & Molhados' is the debut album of the group of the same name, released in August 1973. The album includes poetry works of authors such as Vinícius de Moraes, Manuel Bandeira and Joao Apolinário, and dances and songs from Portuguese folklore and Brazilian traditions. The album, as well as the band itself, emerged in the midst of a time of censorship and military dictatorship in Brazil, inspiring the band to portray themes such as freedom of expression, racism and war as a form of protest. It is the most famous LP of the Secos & Molhados group, selling more than 1 million copies throughout the country. On 13 September 1979, ABBA began ABBA: The Tour at Northlands Coliseum in Edmonton, Canada, with a full house of 14,000. During the next four weeks they played a total of 17 sold-out dates, 13 in the United States and four in Canada. On 19 October '79, the tour resumed in Western Europe where the band played 23 sold-out gigs, including six sold-out nights at London's Wembley Arena. Among the finest shows the group played during this leg of the tour however took place at Stadthalle, in Bremen, Germany, on 1st November '79, a concert which was recorded for live FM Broadcast across Germany and which was also synched across much of North America too. Edition on black vinyl.

Eighteen years ago, four young Atlanta women picked up instruments without any prior musical experience or lofty aspirations and decided that they were going to start a band so that they could play a friend's party. The house-show begat more shows around town, and the feisty and fiery live sets begat an album. Recorded during a single graveyard shift at a local studio and mixed the following night, the self-titled debut album by The Coathangers was a raw, rowdy, and revelrous affair. What it lacked in polish it made up for in its undeniable energy and charisma. "We didn't think anyone was going to listen to it," says vocalist/guitarist Julia Kugel. "We knew our friends in Atlanta would get it, but we didn't think it was going to go anywhere. We were just excited to make a record." Little did Kugel or her bandmates - vocalist/drummer Stephanie Luke, bassist/vocalist Meredith Franco, and keyboardist Candice Jones - know that their scrappy house show-anthems would catch on, prompting years of international tours, a slew of excellent LPs and singles, and, eventually, a deluxe version of their boisterous debut, The Coathangers. The eponymous debut album by The Coathangers is a whirlwind ride of a band at the most frenzied, celebratory, and free moment of their existence. As a standalone record, it's a brash and bawdy rocker sure to please anyone who likes their rock n' roll sweaty and messy. As a piece in the band's legacy, it's an exhilarating reminder of the band's youthful care-free beginnings. Following the success of 'Highly Refined Pirates' forward-thinking guitar gymnastics and 'Menos El Oso's groundbreaking glitch rock, Seattle's premier pop revisionists Minus The Bear dug into some of rock music's most ostentatious years for inspiration for their 2007 album, 'Planet Of Ice.' The title alone conjures images of Yes's 'Relayer' album art, and the influence of the elder statesmen's symphonic scope can be felt throughout 'Planet Of Ice's lush and intricate arrangements. You can also hear the band channel the ominous instrumental interplay of Lamb-era Genesis on 'Dr. L'Ling,' the deceptively savvy musicianship and pristine production of Steely Dan on 'White Mystery,' and the tightrope walk between ethereal space and pre-metal riffage of Pink Floyd's 'Echoes' on 'Lotus.' Not that Minus The Bear completely abandoned their earlier style_elements of 'Menos El Oso's sample-driven technique can be heard on the lead single 'Knights.' But the heart of the song ultimately belongs to the haunting Fripp-esque guitar lines spliced between verses. After being out of print on record since 2010, Suicide Squeeze is proud to reintroduce 'Planet Of Ice's creative marriage of classic motifs and modern musical wizardry with a vinyl remaster courtesy of Bernie Grundman. Mei Semones, a 23-year-old Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and guitarist, blends jazz, bossa nova, and math-y indie rock into a cathartic and genre-defying sound. Her debut Bayonet Records single, 'Wakare No Kotoba' (translated as "parting words"), showcases her intricate guitar work with wide-interval arpeggios and odd meters, delivering an "anti-love song" about ending a toxic friendship, enriched by orchestral swells and crashing guitars.Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Semones began playing piano at four and electric guitar at eleven, later studying jazz guitar at Berklee College of Music. There, she met her bandmates, including string players Noah Leong (viola) and Claudius Agrippa (violin), who enhance her complex compositions. After moving to New York City in 2022, Mei released singles, an EP, collaborated with John Roseboro, and toured with Raavi. Her music explores themes of infatuation, devotion, and vulnerability, combining virtuosic guitar, sweeping strings, and heartfelt lyrics in both English and Japanese, creating a signature style that is both ornately catchy and emotionally resonant. VARIOUS - HUA HUA PLAYS FOR YOU, VOL. 1
John Gosling (aka Mekon) the English big beat/industrial musician and electronica producer, launches his new label Hua Hua (pronounced wah wah) with an 11-track compilation album. A quick scan at some of the featured artists showcases a line up of legends - eighties rap sensation Schoolly D sitting alongside Primal Scream mainstay Bobby Gillespie and John's recently departed punk hero Alan Vega - even Roxy Music's saxophonist and founder member Andy Mackay makes an appearance. And while John's electronic alter ego Mekon is always on hand to remix and arrange, he's far from the only producer behind the proverbial wheel. Gosling is well known as a member of both Psychic TV and Coil (for the album 'Transparent'). Gosling founded the groups Zos Kia with John Balance and Bass-o-Matic with William Orbit before recording as Mekon. He has also remixed under the name Sugar J. And that's before we get to the fact that he has soundtracked some of the most forward-thinking fashion shows in the world - crafting the soundscapes for Alexander McQueen shows since the show 'Dante' in 1996. Firstly working hand in hand with the late great Lee "Alexander" McQueen, then with his successor Sarah Burton. In the mid-to-late-nineties he was a core member of the group Agent Provocateur along with Matthew Ashman (originally of Bow Wow Wow), Dan Peppe, Danny Saber (of Black Grape) and Cleo Torez. He has also worked with artists such as Roxanne Shanté ('Yes Yes Y'All'), Marc Almond ('Delirious'), and Afrika Bambaataa. His third album 'Something Came Up' featured artwork by Alexander McQueen. 250 copies only.

Acchiappashpirt is the sound and video, poetry/poetronic collaboration between the Albanian poet and vocalist Jonida Prifti and the Italian sound artist Stefano Di Trapani. 'Ninulla' was conceived as a suite of lullabies that were written and sung for, with, and by their son Arion. An album divided between conscious and unconscious recordings, where dream and wake merge. Despite the obvious gentle and holistic conception of 'Ninulla,' the album is a deeply experimental excursion into sound practice, entirely rethinking the notion of what a lullaby might be. Drenched in a deep sense of atmosphere and reverberance, with drifting, often processed vocals floating and weaving their way through simple and seductive melodies, haunting environmental images and textures, and flirtations with playful left-field pop, the album has the unavoidable effect of catapulting you into the joyous, elemental nature of music making at its purest form, while also throwing a wrench in the cogs every step of the way. GEERKEN, HARTMUT - REQUIEM FOR THE SNAKE OF MAIDAN (2LP)
"Towards the end of the 1970s, a film about me and my work was made in Kabul for the South German TV program. The director was Arpad Bondy. In order to find a venue for my music that is typical for Afghanistan, it was agreed that my "percussion environment", a tubular cube of 2x2x2 meters including the associated instruments, would be transported on a barren, stony ridge in the Hindukush Mountains. The people called the place "Maidan", which means nothing but "place". While a couple of men dragged the frame pipes and the instruments up the hill, I decided to carry my large Wuhan gong (100 cm diameter) up the mountain, in a kind of ritual. Michael Ranta sent me this gong from Wuhan/China to Kabul. With slow and careful steps, carrying the heavy gong like an umbrella on my head, I walked over the difficult rocky terrain without a path up. Suddenly a snake about two meters long came out of the rocks towards me and hissed aggressively at me. I could only take the gong off my head and put it like a shield in front of my legs. As I later discovered, it was a very venomous snake! Since I couldn't go on or back without her attacking me, I had to bring myself to kill the beautiful animal. I managed to smash her skull with a rock that I threw at her while standing behind my gong. Finally I hung the lifeless body around my neck, put the gong back on my head and continued my way up, with a pounding heart. When the percussion environment was set up, I hung the dead snake between my instruments and spontaneously decided to name my solo performance 'Requiem For The Snake Of Maidan.'
Since I was able to reach an orbit between heaven and earth while playing in such an unique and very privileged place, I definitely didn't want to be disturbed or interrupted by a film team and made the following parameter a condition: I will play six hours continuously, and the filmmakers can do what they want, but are not allowed to interfere with or talk to me. While I was playing I only had one musician with me: the wind. Sun Ra entitled one of his records 'My Brother The Wind.' I hung my metallophones on the linkage so that the wind could touch them and create sounds. The recording captured a few parts where I didn't have to lift a finger and the wind did everything that was necessary. The room was a wide landscape without any echo. If an echo can be heard in the recording, it is the reverberation from the big gong. Only a few noises came, apart from the wind, from outside. Flying insects passed near the microphone from time to time, few shouts of the film team from a nearby hill or you could hear a jet at a great height. Sometimes, if you listen carefully, you can hear steps on loose rock: I was not sitting all the time within the cube but also played on my percussion environment from outside, for example throwing small stones or clods of earth onto the big gong from a greater distance. The big gong and the boo chals (Tibetan cymbals) produced a whole series of overtones. The string instruments, the metallo- and lithophones dominate the recording. In addition to the acoustic environment of my instruments, in some parts of my improvisation I used a battery-powered tape recorder (Uher 4400 Report Stereo IC) with a pre-recorded feeding tape that I had pre-recorded before alone or together with Michael Ranta in Kabul. The stones of the lithophone were collected by Ranta and myself in the valley of Goldara around an old collapsed Buddhist stupa. Almost each of the hundred stone plates we had lifted was ringing." ~Hartmut Geerken.

Nancy Mounir's debut album, 'Nozhet El Nofous,' is a remarkable communion with ghosts. Moody, hypnotic, and sneakily catchy, the album - whose title means "Promenade of the Souls" in Arabic - explores microtonality, non-metered rhythms, and bold vulnerability through a musical dialogue between Mounir's own arrangements and the sounds of archival recordings of once-famed singers from Egypt at the turn of the 20th century. Adding her own ambient arrangements over voices haunted with passion and desire as she creates a sound that is warmly familiar but utterly new. On the album, Mounir slips into the gaps left by the lost frequencies of the aging recordings, finding space for counterpoint and harmony in a traditional sound built on monophony. Elegant melodies unfold in measured gestures as Mounir - who plays most of the instruments herself - revels in the plaintive intonations and brash lyrics of the departed singers. With layers enmeshed together, it's at times hard to pin down when the past ends and the present begins, but beneath it all is a liberating attitude of defiance that feels timeless. 'Nozhet El Nofous' is brilliant in the way it explores the techniques and perspectives of a more freewheeling time period in Arabic music, before Arabic maqam (modal systems) and other musical foundations were standardized by the Middle East's cultural power brokers in the early 1930s. As she summons a rich, atmospheric landscape of tone and texture, Mounir engages an older generation of musical rebels in a creative dialogue across time and space - and the results are stunning in their ambition and beauty. 'Gran Trotto' (literally translating to "grand trot") is a travel diary, in sound, recorded in a diverse range of geographies, meticulously listed in the album's credits: Tallinn, Scanno, Helsinki, Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Vilnius, Rosello, Brighton, Campo Imperatore, Jurmala, Barreiro, Ortona, Budapest, Civitella Alfedena. Constructed from tapes and field recordings, with interventions made by a handful of musical instruments - piano, organ, bells, objects - as well as intentional contributions and unintentional appearances. These sounds are what they are and from where they are from. The result is deeply moving, threading the sounds of various environments with dedicated tones and textures, and a great deal of captured speech. This band makes no secret of their admiration for mavericks like Conlon Nancarrow and Harry Partch, but they kick off like rebaptized No Wavers. Like Mars and especially the Contortions, only with a straighter swing, well, not that straight. With wild clarinet squeals, ostinato, eggy and also squeaky organ and over-the-top shrieking and barking screaming vocals à la James Chance (quoted after Rigo Dittmann). Their LP 'Sans Swing' contains 16 tracks, recorded by Tobias Levin at Electric Avenue Studio, and mastered by Chris von Rautenkranz.

WEEKS ISLAND - DROSTE
The Weeks Island project began in 2018 when Jonny Campos, guitarist for Grammy-winning Lost Bayou Ramblers, recorded ambient pedal steel sessions during a break from touring, paying his bandmate Kirkland Middleton in Cane's chicken strips for the studio time. Droste, the resulting album, reflects themes of impermanence, with tracks named after vanished Louisiana waterways and a sound that drifts between serene and immersive.Initially released digitally and on cassette by Nouveau Electric Records in 2020, DFA later undertook a years-long process to bring the music to vinyl. Despite challenges mastering the pedal steel's sharp tones and harmonic distortion, Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service succeeded, adding three new tracks for a stunning vinyl release, beautifully pressed by Furnace Record Pressing.

Ghostly 25 Year Anniversary Edition pressed on blue and purple marbled vinyl. Thus far, Zach Saginaw's releases as Shigeto have been fragments, albeit singularly satisfying fragments - EP-length glimpses into the Detroit producer's creative psyche. After filling two EPs on Ghostly International, Shigeto's lush, sumptuous take on instrumental hip-hop has fully materialized. 'Full Circle,' the artist's first full-length album, completes the journey begun with Shigeto's Semi-Circle EP, synthesizing the drummer/producer's signature themes of family, continuity, and musical boundary-pushing into a vibrant, fully unified artistic statement. The sounds on 'Full Circle' come from four years of obsessive field recording and collaboration. Saginaw brought his Tascam mini-recorder with him everywhere, capturing the "glasses, chains, breathing, children, family meals, monks singing in cathedrals, walks in the south of France, and good friends offering their musical skill" that would all find homes in the record's compositional nooks and crannies. As a result of Saginaw's constant documentation, the songs on 'Full Circle' play like chapters in an ongoing story - as in 'Escape From The Incubator,' whose initial rhythmic claustrophobia opens up into a boom-clap nocturnal chase, or 'French Kiss Power Up,' whose romantic digital strut gives way to discord and fragmentation as the waves of synthesizer give way to a shaky, neurotic coda. 'Full Circle' is framed by the 'Ann Arbor' diptych, a pair of beat suites named after Saginaw's hometown (one featuring a sample of Detroit MC SelfSays), all double-thick synths and triple-strength kick drums. Saginaw plays the majority of his rhythms by hand, and 'Full Circle's consistently deep pocket is the record's secret weapon, thumping and breathing like a living being. Having set the stage with 'Semi-Circle' and 'What We Held On To' EPs - twin treatises on Saginaw's Japanese grandmother's escape from a US internment camp - Shigeto is clearly ready to draw the tale to a close and take center stage. "This release represents the end of the beginning - or perhaps that there is no end and no beginning at all," says Saginaw. Regardless, 'Full Circle' is the start of something great.

The traditional joik of the Sámi lives on! Assu, an ensemble featuring renowned Finnish folk musician Ulla Pirttijärvi, brings the guttural Sámi singing tradition into the present with heart and soul. The name Assu translates to "embers," symbolizing the glowing warmth of their music. Many of the songs on 'Luohteniegut' came to Ulla in dreams: joiks of animals, nature, cold winds, friends, and relatives. In Sámi culture, there is a deeply rooted connection to the fundamental elements of life. In the small northern Finnish Sámi village of Angeli, where Ulla grew up, reindeer herding is a traditional way of life. Encounters with animals in their natural surroundings are an integral part of Ulla's family life. Animals and nature hold a special place in the traditional stories and spiritual beliefs of the Sámi. This presence of nature, animals, and people in a collage of reality, dreams, and humor forms the essence of 'Luohteniegut.' On 'Luohteniegut,' Ulla is joined by some of her closest musical companions, including her brother Keijo, a reindeer herder, and her musician colleague Ursula, a close relative with whom Ulla explored the wilderness as a child. Guest musician Hildegunn Oiseth also features on the album, playing the goat horn on five tracks.

The Baltic Sisters are a cross-border folk ensemble uniting four singers from Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia. Their shared passion for "Sutartines" - traditional Lithuanian polyphonic songs - first brought them together. PAUANNE - JOKU RAJA RAKKAUDESAKIN
Pauanne is a Finnish folk duo that has already made waves internationally, comprising violinist Kukka Lehto and keyboardist Tero Pennanen. Their debut album, released in 2019, won the Emma Award, the most prestigious honor in the Finnish music industry. In 2020, Pauanne released a joint album with actress and singer Irina Björklund, inspired by the television series 'Peacemaker,' in which Björklund starred. Pauanne has also collaborated with visual artists, most recently in the feminist video artwork 'Pelkkä Persevä Neitsyt' (translated: Just an Asshole as a Virgin) with Estonian artist Robin Nogisto. Pauanne focuses on Finnish and Karelian archival recordings, describing their style as "Underground Folk: making music with the voices of singers who have long since passed away." They update archival recordings from the last century, transforming them into contemporary folk songs with new lyrics and melodies. The album 'Joku Raja Rakkaudessakin' centers on Finnish fears of diversity and clouded emotions, giving a voice to those marginalized by society.

SYLFIDE - BLAT LYS
Sylfide is the project of Danish singer, harpist, songwriter, and composer Helene Dorthea Tungelund. Through her fusion of traditional folk music and modern pop elements, she expresses her deep love for history and traditions in innovative ways. Sylfide is a former member of the Danish-German vocal group Nevesta's Voice, which reinterpreted European folk songs and explored traditional polyphony. Today, Tungelund dedicates herself to her solo project Sylfide and was named New Danish Roots Artist in 2022. The sound of 'Blåt Lys' merges the raw textures of traditional instruments like the fiddle and Celtic harp with contemporary music production and ethereal ambient soundscapes. Recordings of dancing feet are transformed into minimalist beats, serving as a rhythmic reminder of the album's folk-inspired roots. Sylfide fearlessly manipulates acoustic instruments, at times distorting them beyond recognition. The debut album is also staged as a musical performance, combining folk dance with portable electronic elements. The cover features two folk dancers in LED costumes, drawn from the performance that premieres alongside the album's release.

A Nordic August evening: everyone brings treats, and we enjoy the warm summer night in a cheerful circle. With a wild mix of musical morsels under the Northern Lights, Uusikuu, led by Finnish singer and composer Laura Ryhänen, invite us to join their sixth album 'Piknik.' This is about exuberant zest for life, infectious rhythms, deep emotions, passion, delight, romance, and drama. Finland has been named the happiest country in the world for the seventh time. But what is Finnish happiness, or Onni, all about? Cheerfulness, subtle humor, quirky anecdotes - but also stillness and peaceful moments.
Uusikuu (New Moon) set out in 2006 with the ambitious goal of breathing new life into traditional Finnish tango. The sprightly world music quintet has nothing to do with the typically melancholic tango mood. This small orchestra, describing its style as "Vintage Sounds of Finland," pays a respectful homage to the traditional Finnish entertainment music of the 1930s to 1960s on their albums. With 'Piknik,' however, the group does not linger in nostalgia but ventures boldly into the fabulous 1970s and 1980s. And since Uusikuu are huge fans of the Eurovision Song Contest, references to the legendary competition are a must on this album as well. Four of the twelve album tracks are original compositions by Uusikuu, while the remaining songs feature a skillful mix of humorous humppas, soulful tangos, and iconic swing tunes.

"What do we know about folk music from Belarus? How many groups left the country after the failed revolution in 2020-2021? How many musicians were imprisoned after their performances during these mass protests? Who left after the start of the war in 2022 of their closest neighbours? Which legends of Belarusian folk music have stopped their creative activities? How many bands fell apart? And who stays and tries to work under pressure and rules? How not to forget about the people who stayed there? How can we remember about culture and eternal folklore dedicated to love, the changing seasons and nature, without interfering with politics? With this request, I came to the compiler of this collection, Elvira Baranovskaya from the Aratseya group, and asked her to recommend Belarusian folk groups for my radio show. That's how this compilation was kicked off. You can read the interview with Elvira in Folk Galore magazine. In this introduction, I will also not talk about politics, so as not to harm the musicians, the participants, since the album will fall eventually into the hands of Belarusians. Or rather, I will write that Elvira took as the basis of the collection of folk music groups that currently live and work in and from Belarus. Some of the musicians are just starting their way, others are, so to speak, the "golden mean" and, of course, the flagships of Belarusian folk got into this team. This compilation includes groups not only from Minsk, but also representatives of the regions of Belarus - Brest, Gomel, Grodno. Here you will find folk rock (Aratseya), folk pop (Roskvit), alternative folk (Nevrida), folk fusion (Paparats), folk electronics (Pawa), folk metal (Adarvirog), folk bards (Ales Chumakou & Tacciana Jacnaja), folk-modern (Palac), "hard'n'folk" (Rokash), modern folk (Yagorava Gara), and medieval fantasy folk (Voka Charota). At least two songs from this collection have long been on my personal playlist of the most beloved folk from around the world. And - believe me - I listen to folk music a lot. 'Nouse Luonto - Songs Of Nordic Biodiversity' is a unique collaboration of prominent Finnish folk musicians. The artists have come together for this album project with the aim of preserving the biological diversity of their homeland. The musicians share a deep love for nature, a belief in the power of collaboration, and admiration for the great richness of Finnish folk music. Traditional Finnish folk is filled with references to the fact that human life has long been deeply intertwined with ecosystems. 'Nouse Luonto' is a fragment of an ancient magical spell, invoking courage and strength. But in Finnish, luonto also means nature. Each band and artist has written or completely re-arranged a traditional song on this theme. Nearly all of the songs were newly composed for this album. The artists also collaborate with one another. The album features songs in Finnish, Swedish, Northern Sámi, and Romani, recorded in various parts of the country, from Helsinki to Nuorgam. The album culminates in a highlight: all the musicians sing together in one song.

Astaron from Vienna Austria were a music and art performance duo made up of Angie Mörth (member of Viele Bunte Autos) and Martina Aichhorn which existed from 1984 to 1989. Influenced by the Viennese Actionism, Einstürzende Neubauten and Kate Bush and armed with a big dose of black humour and a true love for trash culture they created an impressively unique body of work. SUMAC, YMA - MAMBO!
Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chávarri del Castillo (1922-2008), known professionally as Yma Sumac was a Peruvian-American coloratura soprano. She was one of the most famous exponents of exotica music during the 1950s. Sumac first appeared on radio in 1942. She recorded at least 18 tracks of Peruvian folk songs in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1943. These early recordings for the Odeon label featured composer Moisés Vivanco's troupe Compañía Peruana de Arte, of 16 Peruvian dancers, singers, and musicians. She was discovered by Les Baxter and signed by Capitol Records in 1950, at which time her stage name became Yma Sumac. Her first album, 'Voice Of The Xtabay,' launched a period of fame that included performances at the Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall. 'Mambo!' was her fourth album, originally released in 1954, with most of the tracks composed by her husband Moisés Vivanco. It was released as a 10" 8-tracks album and later expanded to a 10 track 12" LP. It has become a timeless classic still in demand nowadays. Here is your chance to own your copy of it!!

The music on West Space & Love's second full-length is much more synthesizer based, with Siena Root's KG West playing amazing '70s inspired synths and organ, as well as bass, guitar and sitar. Oresund Space Collective's Dr. Space creates spacy sounds and drones, while Love (also from Siena Root) is doing the spoken word parts and providing all the drums and percussion parts. And the addition of violin by Jonathan Segel and santoor by Moa Danielson really takes the two Indian inspired pieces ('Khan Paan' and 'Oscillations In D-Minor') to another level. A fantastic instrumental, kraut-inspired ethnic musical journey! Edition of 300 copies on black vinyl.
