Lyon-based freakers Chico Magnetic Band began as Chico & The Slow Death, its front man a wild Tunisian-born singer otherwise known as Mahmoud Ayari, with drummer Patrick Garel, bassist Alain Mazet and guitarist Bernard Lloret, later replaced by Bernard Monneri. Conjuring a dark, excessive sound with unfettered guitar, pummelling drum rolls and Ayari growling and grumbling over the top, this sole LP from 1971 is culled from different permutating sessions, with plenty of audio freakery and extreme effects from Jean-Pierre Massiera; The Hendrix cover 'Cross Town Traffic' is rendered with love, despite Ayari's hefty accent.

A beautifully fragile folk/soft rock daydream recorded in 1971 and unreleased until now. Flight was formed in 1971 in the Michigan town of Grayling by Phil Stancil and Doug Slater. The two teenagers, with no formal musical training, sat down for a year to explore a shared sense of vulnerability, and newfound freedom in expressing an emotional openness rarely seen in young American men at the time. What resulted was an 8-track LP, recorded over two days in two separate studios. Aside from one single release, 'I'm Coming Home' would wait for a full half-century to be released. This recently uncovered and restored music provides a unique glimpse into the world that was 1971 America: a time when young men felt emboldened to abandon machismo and explore the feelings of heartbreak, longing, alienation, and love in music.

FUGS - DANCING IN THE UNIVERSE
First album by the cult band since 2010. The Fugs was formed in 1964 by Ed Sanders with Tuli Kupferberg and Kenn Weaver. Until they disbanded the group captured the time spirit and they were alongside Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention the representatives of a quite new mix of political protest,
Dadaistic free form performances, poetry - but first rock & roll. The Fugs produced 6 great albums including the masterpieces 'Tenderness Junction' (1968) and 'It Crawled Into My Hand, Honest' (1969), before they disbanded in 1969. Ed Sanders pursued a very successful career as a writer and poet.
His book about the Manson Family was a huge bestseller. In 1984 Sanders brought The Fugs together again and has recorded several albums since then, including the brilliant 'No More Slavery' from 1986. Two tunes on the LP version were recorded by Scott Petito at Tuli Kupferberg's loft in NYC in 2005. The Fugs have added instruments and harmony singing to Tuli's originals. Limited to 500 copies.

This one rocks, though.

The New Jersey band's raucous blend of Cheap Trick's power chords, The Byrds' ethereal jangle and CSNY's airy harmonies was different, half a decade too early for the New York-based garage revival of the early '00s, and a decade or so too late to be in sync with the West Coast's Paisley Pop movement. No wonder this self-recorded, self-released gem of the power pop art fell on mostly deaf ears, lauded by a few Jersey visionaries, hailed in Germany but completely ignored by commercial radio and MTV.

First album by the cult band since 2010. The Fugs was formed in 1964 by Ed Sanders with Tuli Kupferberg and Kenn Weaver. Until they disbanded the group captured the time spirit and they were alongside Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention the representatives of a quite new mix of political protest,
Dadaistic free form performances, poetry - but first rock & roll. The Fugs produced 6 great albums including the masterpieces 'Tenderness Junction' (1968) and 'It Crawled Into My Hand, Honest' (1969), before they disbanded in 1969. Ed Sanders pursued a very successful career as a writer and poet.
His book about the Manson Family was a huge bestseller. In 1984 Sanders brought The Fugs together again and has recorded several albums since then, including the brilliant 'No More Slavery' from 1986. Four tunes on the CD version were recorded by Scott Petito at Tuli Kupferberg's loft in NYC in 2005. The Fugs have added instruments and harmony singing to Tuli's originals. Limited to 500 copies.

The Guy Hamper Trio was formed by Billy Childish, after a chat with his friend James Taylor (Hammond organ). They had played respectively in The Milkshakes and The Prisoners, often sharing the same bill in the early '80s. And indeed, Billy's blues ensemble: The Natural Born Lovers were the support act for the early shows of The James Taylor Quartet. The Guy Hamper Trio is: Billy Childish on guitar, his wife Julie on bass and Wolf on drums - who as it happens was the drummer in the original incarnation of JTQ - and of course features James Taylor on Hammond organ. The Guy Hamper Trio provide a bottom end, blues-influenced instrumental mayhem for those unafraid of dirt, germs and true grime. With no particular wish other than to be recognised as the best at playing badly, they refuse to obey the usual rules of combat and music. Their first 45 ('Polygraph Test'/'Sally Sensation') was released in 2009, followed by a full-length studio album, 'All The Poisons In The Mud,' appearing, as if by magic, in 2022, followed by five 7" singles (via Damaged Goods and Spinout Nuggets), and also a new full-length album via Hangman Records, titled 'Man In The Mouth Of A Cave.' This fully-loaded twin-spin single includes two tracks: 'Dog Jaw Woman' and 'The First Creature Is Jealousy.'
Once again, after consultation with experts in the field, it was decreed that these tracks needed to be on a 7" single, for the enjoyment of the Mods, jive experts, lost revellers and those prone to frequent discotheques throughout England, the UK, Europe, the USA, Indonesia and indeed Portsmouth! Limited to 500 copies.

The Beatpack formed in order to play the kind of wild teenage rock'n'roll, '60s garage punk, rhythm & blues and raw blues that all members grew up on. The band have been around in various shapes and forms for thirty years now, albeit with a two-decade break in the middle. First time around, they recorded a 7" EP in 1989 (produced by Billy Childish), followed by another 7" in '90, then their debut LP in '91, all on German label Screaming Apple. They also played with Manic Street Preachers, along with The Thanes, The Aardvarks and more, and then vanished in a puff of smoke, only resurfacing in 2012.
Tours of France, Spain and Germany happened, along with many gigs in the UK too. Since their return, two more 7"s and one 7" EP were released through State Records, followed by a 7" EP with Heavy Soul Records, and thirty-one years since their debut long player, the long-awaited second album 'All Good Things (Turn To Dust)' was released on Spinout Nuggets in 2022, to much praise. The group recently returned to record at Gizzard Studios, with raw, punchy 2-3 minute 'hits.' Limited to 500 copies.

BOUZIDA, NASSER - COOKIN' AT THE ORGAN
Nasser Bouzida is a self-taught musician who has been playing and composing since the ripe age of 15. He made his TV debut on Saturday Superstore when he was just 12 years old. Starting his journey on his mum's pots and pans, she eventually bought him a drum kit, and he slowly started playing percussion, bass guitar, piano and keyboards, eventually moving on to production and mixing too. Nass formed the ska band The Loafers with his school mates when he was just 15. They backed Laurel Aitken for two years and regularly supported Desmond Dekker and Bad Manners. He has since played in groups such as Skooby, Espadrille and currently Big Boss Man (with his life-long friend Trevor Harding), not forgetting The Bongolian, also recently releasing a solo reggae/roots/ska album under the pseudonym Big Boss Sound. Nasser has also contributed on recordings from Morcheeba, Prince Fatty, Holly Golightly and The Link Quartet to name a few, also collaborating with Fay Hallam, remixing Paul Weller's version of 'The Bottle' (the Big Boss Man remix), and is also a visual artist. Here we see multi-instrumentalist Nasser Bouzida in his purist form... Not only is Nasser now releasing a new twin-spin 7" single, but he's recorded a whole album's worth too! All dance floor fillers, all instruments played by Nasser (with a little help from his friends), with echoes of the music that has inspired him. Limited to 500 hand-numbered copies.

Second release by Greek Label Sunnyboy66 Records. As Sao Paulo's east side is home of a garage scene that never lost breath, Os Estilhaços could not have been formed in any other context. Directly influenced by '60s psychedelia and drawing on the garage punk groups of that time (The Seeds, Count Five, Electric Prunes, Music Machine), the band presents its own compositions and some covers, having already played throughout Sao Paulo's alternative circuit and also in other states of the country and festivals such as Dia da Música, Garageira and Grito Rock, held in more than two hundred cities, in several countries. Caio Sergio (ex-Haxixins [vocals/guitar]) and Felipe Blasi [guitar] joined their longtime friends Paulo Nobre and Alexandre Rodrigues (ex-Panoramas [bass/drums respectively]) and invited Cristina Alves [organ] to complete the team. With some time on the road and after Felipe's and Caio's leaving (replaced by Rodrigo "Bob"), the band goes on as a quartet, without losing its sound essence. They consolidated a repertoire and recorded the tracks of their first album that could only achieve the desired sixties sound with analog equipment and touch of the friend and producer Luis Tissot (Caffeine Sound Estudio). The sonority of Os Estilhaços faithfully demonstrates the obscurity of garage scene. In live performances, the audience feel itself in the '60s, inside that primitive atmosphere in which each instrument contributes to the collective trip, always filled with plenty of fuzz guitars, the strong rhythm of the drums and the bass, supplementing with organ that flows melted in each song. Worth giving up consciousness for a few moments and get carried away by the acid trip of Os Estilhaços.

Rejoice indie poppers, punks and pop kids - Sealed Records in conjunction with the band and BBC release all 14 tracks Dolly Mixture recorded for the BBC. You no longer have to listen to bad YouTube uploads... Here are all the tracks remastered from original sources, and as an added treat featuring John Peel introducing them and three jingles the band recorded for Kid Jensen. The first session was recorded for John Peel in August 1979 and features the unreleased 'Dolly Mixture Theme Song' which the band used to start gigs with and a super strong cover of Goffin and King's 'The Locomotion.' Four already Dolly Mixture classics from the time were also recorded including 'Dream Come True,' 'He's So Frisky,' 'New Look Baby' and 'Ernie Ball.' You can hear the excitement and joy and the sounds are so well recorded at Maida Vale Studios with top notch studio equipment and production. The next session from September 82 was recorded for Kid Jensen and shows a slightly more mature band, but the tracks are just as instant and lovable. These tracks have a more '60s girl group sound but with more energy. Most people will know the tracks from the 'Demonstration Tapes' album but these versions are better recorded and show the band moving forward. The last session from October 1983 was for Kid Jensen and again shows a band evolving but still with tunes that over forty years later are still loved and adored. All in all 14 perfectly rounded pop nuggets wrapped in a beautifully designed sleeve and poster by Paul Kelly.

South African band Harari was a band that was deeply rooted in pan-African politics, the parallel cross-influences of the Black Panther Movement and Black Consciousness. African American soul music and Soweto Soul contributed to the way Harari became purveyors of all the styles we know today as Afro-soul, Afro-pop and Afro-jazz. Harari (originally known as The Beaters) left behind a body of work that fused traditional African sounds with rock, funk, jazz, soul and psychedelia into a unique and coherent sound. It shows their ability to capture the many genres flying around South Africa during a time of intense political and cultural shifts. The album 'Genesis' from 1977 comes swinging with a set of six anthems, explosive up-tempo jams, gorgeous vocal harmonies and chants, Afro-centric fusions of rock, funk and indigenous influences. The album is packed with mesmerizing drum-grooves, psychedelic improvisations and catchy Afrobeat rhythms.

Among them, this first album released from Clarence Johnson's G.E.C. Label could be considered their most overflowing work of the charm of their sweet vocals. This piece, where Dwight Dukes' consistently sweet falsetto is prominently present, has never been reissued on record since its release in 1976 until today. The P-VINE edition includes the additional track 'Promises', which was only released on a single.

Black Friday 2023 release. Galt MacDermot (1928-2018) was an award-winning Canadian-American composer, pianist, writer of classical music and theatrical pieces. MacDermot also composed music for several film soundtracks, like the 1970 blaxploitation film 'Cotton Comes To Harlem', and released several jazz and funk albums on his own label Kilmarnock Records. He is best known for his work on the 1967 musical 'Hair' and 'Two Gentlemen Of Verona' from 1971. Working with jazz and soul musicians such as Bernard Purdie and Idris Muhammad, MacDermot created pieces that used African rhythms and in recent decades, his work has become popular with hip-hop musicians including Busta Rhymes, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Gang Starr, Action Bronson, Public Enemy, MF Doom, Madlib, J Dilla, Obie Trice, Naughty By Nature, Run DMC and Digable Planets. The album 'Ghetto Suite', written in 1970 and released in 1972, is considered one of the most ground-breaking records ever issued on Galt MacDermot's Killmarnock label and consists out of a selection of songs and poems by Harlem/Bronx school children, set to Galt's music, and sung by vocalist Angela Ortega. Here comes the very first vinyl reissue of this exceptional conceptual album, comes on 180 gram vinyl, strictly limited to 1000 copies, with obi strip and features the original artwork and extensive sleeve notes.

Antonio L. Newton a.k.a. Tony Newton is a multi-instrumentalist from Detroit, who began his professional career playing bass guitar with blues legends like John Lee Hooker and T-Bone Walker. Later he became the touring bassist with Smokey Robinson and he has recorded with Motown artists like The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. Newton also recorded several solo albums during his impressive career, of which 'Novaphonia' from 1987 now has been reissued. On the album, Newton is a real multi-instrumentalist, playing synthesizers, bass and programming the drum machine. Experimental is the keyword througout the album, sounds vary from psych/trance like a soundtrack from a space movie, to funk, fusion, rock, R&B, soul and jazz. Comes on 180 gram vinyl.
