BARBICAN ESTATE - BARBICAN CITY OF TOKYO
A fabulous mini LP from London based, Japanese psych band Barbican Estate. Four beguiling tracks of atmospheric, occasionally acid folk flavoured, melodic freakout shifts, taking in tips of the hat to Popol Vuh (check Miri's beautiful vox on 'Angel'), Amon Düül and fellow countrymen Acid Mothers Temple and Kikagaku Moyo amongst others. Formed in 2019, this three-piece consists of Kazuki Toneri (guitar, sitar), Miri (bass, flute, vocals), and Koh Hamada (drums, percussion). Each member is well-versed in music, film, and various other arts, drawing inspiration not only from experimental, psychedelic rock, and noise music but also from art across the world, both past and present. Their music weaves solid, architectural elements with destruction into a dark and gloomy soundscape, is often described as "dark psychedelic." They released their first album, 'Way Down East,' in 2021. In 2022, they relocated to London, where they performed on UK tours and at festivals. Having already played nearly 50 live shows, they are gaining attention in the local scene. Their EP 'Viscum' was released in June 2024. 'Barbican City Of Tokyo' is a compilation of tunes previously consigned to digital release only that label head Dom had free rein to assemble an EP from, which luckily the band wholeheartedly agreed upon! ...and all four tracks appear on vinyl here for the first time. This release hopefully cements a growing interest in the band's fabulous music, and early reviews of both the LP here and their live shows are overwhelmingly positive. Limited to 100 copies, so be fast!

After he finished his damaged-biker 'Back To Ohio Blues' LP in 1975, the man known as Raven gave away most of the few hundred copies that were pressed. The little-heard album was both of its time and timeless. Today, after it's reached a wider audience, mostly via word of mouth and the internet, it seems to hold an ethereal psychic influence over all the great lo-fi stoner music that's emanated during the past 30 years from Raven's hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

A classic album from the Tiger Lily 'tax scam' label, reissued on red vinyl. Long Island, NY-based psych/proto hard rock outfit Stonewall recorded its sole LP in the late '60s, but had to wait a few years before the album actually saw its first release. SUNCRAFT - FLAT EARTH RIDER
Heavy, stoner-inspired rock'n'roll from the underground scene of Oslo, Norway. 'Flat Earth Rider' is Suncraft's debut album, written and recorded during 2020. The album is a collection of six unique tracks that show off the band's wide array of songwriting prowess. They draw from diverse rock'n'roll influences, from the classic rock-inspired riff of the titular track, to the doomy chorus of 'Commie Cannibals,' the spaced-out vocals on 'Adaptation' and the blast beat-induced ten-minute closing track 'Bridges To Nowhere,' this album is filled to the brim with genre-breaking tricks-up-the-sleeve.
The album was live recorded with the full band, adding solos, vocals and extra goodies afterwards. This adds a liveliness to the flow of the songs, and an organic feel. Produced, mixed and mastered by Ruben Willem who has recorded Norwegian hard rock heavy hitters such as The Good The Bad and The Zugly, Okkultokrati and Djevel, the production is gnarly and lush as ever. Released on turqoise vinyl.

The long-awaited seventh album the Dutch/French/Italian band
Templo Diez, titled after a Californian ghost town. The start of a new album trilogy, the album takes the listener on a
journey along 9 songs in the introspective and cinematic
style characteristic of the band. Inspired by ghost towns
along the US Pacific states and mostly written during the
pandemic, 'Sunland' embarks the band on a new voyage
across a mythical America, exploring further themes of
loss, loneliness, hope and redemption. Back to their
original trio configuration, this seventh album (and start of
a third trilogy!) marks a renewed creativity for the band.
At the crossing between Americana, slowcore and indie rock,
Templo Diez' music draws its inspiration from travels,
landscapes, from true stories and dreamt memories, from
movies, films, novels, poetry, as on previous releases, each
song could be experienced as a short movie soundtrack. On
'Sunland,' in typical Templo Diez fashion, each track is also a
short story, an emotional study of the song characters, with their fears, wounds and motivations. The resulting tracks are a kaleidoscopic ensemble alternating personal and introspective themes with gothic impressions of an America born of fever dreams and cheap late night TV in deserted motels.

"The holidays evoke different feelings in different people - love, wonder and joy, yet also sometimes sadness, longing or loneliness," DeNicola says. "Reflecting on this, I invited the OMAD family to express in song what the season stirs in them, and what I got in response truly touched me."

The album Bedmonster by the Norwegian jazz trio "I Like to Sleep" combines elements of avant-garde jazz with high-energy improvisation. It features a unique setup of vibraphone, baritone guitar, and drums, delivering a fresh take on jazz that draws influences from the 1960s free-jazz era. Tracks on Bedmonster range from intense, high-tempo sections reminiscent of Frank Zappa's experimental style to smoother, almost lounge-like melodies that evoke a classic jazz vibe. A standout characteristic of Bedmonster is its raw, live recording approach, where the trio's synergy is palpable. The group makes use of complex rhythms and sonic shifts, moving from heavy, groove-driven parts to ambient soundscapes, all enriched by the vibrant timbre of the vibraphone.

Recorded in 1993, towards the end of the Ramones' career, this album is often set apart from other Ramones releases in that it is entirely composed of covers. 'Acid Eaters' forms a musical tribute to the Ramones' '60s favorites, and highlights the influence that garage rock bands like The Seeds or the Amboy Dukes, and better known bands such as The Beach Boys, The Who, Love, The Troggs and The Rolling Stones (all of whom are covered in this album), had on their music.
