GURU GURU - KANGURU
'Känguru' is the third album by Guru Guru, released in 1972 on the Brain label. It was produced by Conny Plank and featured the "classic" Guru Guru line-up of Ax Genrich (guitar), Uli Trepte (bass) and Mani Neumeier (drums, vocals). 'Känguru' is basically made up of the same ingredients as its two predecessors 'Ufo' and 'Hinten,' which were released on Rolf Kaiser"s Ohr label in 1970 and 1971. 'Känguru' is pure krautrock, the album contains "only" 4 tracks, all between 10 and 15 minutes long. But the band moves away from the disorganized chaos of the previous two albums and gives the songs more structure, reducing the amount of heaviness. At the same time, the humorous component increases, see for example Mani Neumeier's spoken word in the introduction of 'Immer Lustig.' In short, 'Känguru' is a krautrock gem.

Psychedelic hard-rock and heavy blues with loud fuzzed-out guitars, keyboards and inventive studio production/effects by this band led by the great Neil Merryweather and featuring the Mama Lion musicians. This is their first album, originally released on Artie Ripp's Family Productions label in 1972.
The Heavy Cruiser project was conceived during the studio sessions for Mama Lion, the band led by Neil Merryweather and Lynn Carey. Artie Ripp always allowed Neil to experiment/jam in the studio and to record any cool ideas and songs he may come up with. Thanks to that creative freedom, Heavy Cruiser was born during Mama Lion jamming sessions. The initial idea was to operate both bands simultaneously with Lynn taking the backseat for Heavy Cruiser but providing vocals and helping with songwriting. Powerful cover versions of rock classics like 'C'mon Everybody' or 'Louie Louie' show the band having lot of fun in the studio and there was also room for more experimental sounds like 'Miracles Of Pure Device.' The term "panta rhei" refers to the concept that everything flows in the philosophy of Heraclitus from Greek mythology and is also a term that has been adopted as a band name for several groups including a Hungarian prog rock band, a German jazz-rock band, a Belgian folk band and once you remove the "h" and forming the alternative spelling Panta Rei, a short-lived Swedish prog band that emerged from the fertile city of Uppsala some 60 km north of Stockholm which is most famous for being the birthplace of Samla Mammas Manna but due to the wealth of support for the arts in Sweden also produced a huge number of lesser known bands including Panta Rei. Originally released in 1973 on Harvest.

Originally known as Captain Speed, Turquoise was a psychedelic rock band from Southern California who were managed by pioneering Tri-counties concert promoter Jim Salzer, who also operated the legendary Arcade Record Shop. Their sound was 100% psychedelic with swirling baroque organ, trippy guitar fills and driving percussion, all topped off by front man and Jim Morrison's lookalike Tim Pearson's lysergic lyrics. Turquoise shared stage with big names like Grateful Dead, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe & the Fish, The Seeds, The Strawberry Alarm Clock, Jimi Hendrix, and many others. SECOND DEATH - SECOND DEATH
Second Death debut with a 9 track MLP. Following the steps of London bands No and Permission from which the band shares half its members with additions from local bands Subdued and Last Affront. Pulling similar musical threads as their previous groups, their distinctive dissonant brand of hardcore is dense and claustrophobic, like there are too many notes crammed into too small a space, riffs poking out at odd, uncomfortable angles like the corners of a hand-me-down bureau in a cramped London bedsit. Second Death's manic rhythms are littered with unexpected accents that disrupt any slide into safety, comfort, or convention, and while moments in 'Sycophant' or 'Caving' threaten to break into a mosh, there's invariably an oddly timed accent that derails the choreography like a feral tweaker wandering into the pit. Ben from Last Affront handles vocals, and their voice and lyrics reflect the musics sense of tortured isolation: short, clipped lines from a nerve rubbed raw, torn between fighting and fleeing, sparks of anguish flying in the direction of everyone and no one in particular. Life isn't easy, and neither is Second Death's music, but there's poetry to how these nine tracks charge fitfully toward a resolution that never comes, a resonant echo of lifes self-perpetuating, ever-escalating cycles of anxiety and torment. Includes A2 poster and A4 lyric sheet.

NYC duo Straw Man Army return with their third LP, 'Earthworks,' to complete a trilogy of records begun with 2020's 'Age Of Exile,' and 2022's 'SOS.' Whereas 'Age Of Exile' dealt with the haunted landscapes of colonial history in the Americas, and 'SOS' gave voice to a crisis of the present moment, like a prayer in bewildering times, 2024's 'Earthworks' signals the band's attempt to close this trilogy by turning their gaze towards the future, where paradox, complexity and contradiction spiral in ascendance to an agonizing pitch. While continuing to develop their own style of anarcho-punk, 'Earthworks' finds the band pulling once again from jazz and ambient influences, expanded krautrock rhythms, and post-rock experiments, with a stronger emphasis on melodic vocals and varied song structures than on previous offerings. Taking cues from the wistful anti-war harmonies of The Byrds and the angry melodies of Zounds, tracks like 'Turn The Wheel' and 'Second Nature' mark new territory for a group whose messages and methods of experimentation have merged to form a singular sound equally at home on All The Madmen Records or in the spiritual legacy of ESP Disk. 'Earthworks' is an album that holds and subverts many contradictions - juggling the weight of melancholy, grief, guilt, impunity, and the yearning for clarity against the backdrop of boiling wrath; the wrath of nature, the occupied, the dispossessed, and of the mind against itself. To quote the track 'Spiral' - "Is this all that's left for us these days? / Apathy and rage?" - Straw Man Army offers this record as a companion to our frustration, our sickness, our despair, and a lifeline for our fugitive attention in the struggle for peace.

'FRONTS - MAMO WAVES
Active in the '80s San Francisco DIY culture and with connections to Camper Van Beethoven, The Whitefronts released their sole LP, 'Roast Belief', on their own Bogden label in 1985. Though practically unknown today, its a mid-'80s classic serving up eclectic derangement on a par with contemporaries like the Butthole Surfers, Meat Puppets, Sun City Girls, Tuxedomoon and Eugene Chadbourne. The 'Mamo Waves' LP was compiled from recordings made between 1982 and 1987, resulting in another mind-melting jumble of the genres explored by Whitefronts (here shortened to 'Fronts) throughout their existence. This is a limited edition of 300 copies.

CRACKER - GENTLEMAN'S BLUES (2LP)
The American rock band Cracker originates from Bakersfield, California and was formed in 1990 by lead singer David Lowery and guitarist Johnny Hickman, who both came from the band Camper Van Beethoven. For their fourth album, 'Gentleman's Blues,' which was released in 1998, they fall back to a '70s sound, mixing up blues and rock.

Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' tour began on November 4, 2011. The tour visited cities in thirteen countries across three continents. By June 2012, the tour was playing across Europe, following which it moved onto Australia, where the band played six dates - one in Adelaide, two in Melbourne, two in Sydney and a final show at Belongil Fields, in Byron Bay, on 28th July. Among the finest performances of the entire tour this festival set was recorded for live FM Radio broadcast and transmitted across the country simultaneously. Previously unreleased on vinyl, this superb event is now available here for the first time. Bonus cuts include her SNL performance in full, plus a series of interviews from the same year.

LP2 is a collection of works in progress entitled 'Softened By Rain The Making Of Astronauts.'

Originally released and sold on their fall 2009 US tour and now reissued on vinyl, Flower-Corsano Duo's 'The Chocolate Cities' stands as one of the duo's most spirited releases. 'Previte Chandler' is a conversation between two opposing approaches toward the same goal: reaching a natural autonomy. Previte employs an expanded conception of the modern drum set, a circularity that suggests rather than shows, using the powerful orchestrational might of the drum set to create form and meaning. Chandler uses his guitar as a tone generator (there are no synthesizers) to create "Sound Ribbons" - sonic fabrics made in real time that create a way of deconstructing and then enveloping and weaving together any series of individual pieces of music or film. These two musicians, who circled each other for years in the New York City music scene, are now turning the deep chasm between them into a bridge connecting the natural and the supernatural, the audible and the spiritual.

Previte employs an expanded conception of the modern drum set, a circularity that suggests rather than shows, using the powerful orchestrational might of the drum set to create form and meaning. Chandler uses his guitar as a tone generator (there are no synthesizers) to create "Sound Ribbons" - sonic fabrics made in real time that create a way of deconstructing and then enveloping and weaving together any series of individual pieces of music or film. These two musicians, who circled each other for years in the New York City music scene, are now turning the deep chasm between them into a bridge connecting the natural and the supernatural, the audible and the spiritual.

VARIOUS - ASKING FOR THE TRUTH (BUT PRAYING FOR A LIE)
Soul4Real returns to the south with a selection of eleven songs from Malaco, Muscle Shoals Sound Studios and Alarm Records.
There is no doubt that in the 1970s and 1980s, Malaco in Mississippi and Muscle Shoals Sound in Alabama were both highly significant in defining the southern soul sound. Malaco's Studio had opened in 1967, while Muscle Shoals Sound Studio opened its doors for business in 1969, when four musicians left nearby Fame Studios to go it alone. Alarm Records, meanwhile, based in Shreveport, Louisiana, provides us with four of the tracks on this album. Independent producers and major record companies sent their artists south to record, taking advantage of both Malaco and Muscle Shoals Sound's talented array of musicians, writers and producers. Muscle Shoals Sound, in particular, started to receive artists from Atlantic Records from the get-go; R.B. Greaves, Baby Washington, Sam & Dave and Solomon Burke led the way, along with Scotland's Lulu. The first relesase on their own record label was the timeless 'It Hurts So Good' by Katie Love. Meanwhile, Stax (amongst others) sent some of their artists to record at both studios, and Malaco would also lease some of its own productions out to Atlantic. Alarm Records was a smaller set-up which also produced some wonderful records. This album opens with the only female singer featured - Dorothy Moore. Her exquisite 'Girl Overboard' has been justifiably popular on the soul scene for decades. The other ten tracks showcase an array of fine male singers, most of whom (Bobby Bland and King Floyd aside), sadly and perhaps unjustly, never really made the big time. It is the first showing on vinyl for three of the tracks here (previously having only been issued on CD), and Jimmy Jules' reading of 'Having A Little Talk With Love' has never appeared anywhere before. Produced by Creed Taylor and originally issued on the CTI label in 1975, Jim Hall's 'Concierto' followed the path of Miles Davis' celebrated 'Sketches Of Spain' in presenting, among other tunes, an arrangement of Joaquín Rodrigo's 'Concierto De Aranjuez.' The LP was an all-star venture, with Hall accompanied by such luminaries as Chet Baker, Paul Desmond, Roland Hanna, Ron Carter and Steve Gadd. Desmond had along history of recording with the guitarist, but this was Hall and Baker's first out of just two recorded encounters. 'Concierto' received a 4« rating on AllMusic, with reviewer Anthony Tognazzini stating that it "ranks among the best albums of Hall's superb catalog and the personnel is a jazz lover's dream come true."

Back in stock - the unknown third album "Down Lucky's Way" by The Malombo Jazz Makers.
The band formed after guitarist Philip Tabane left the original Malombo Jazzmen in 1965, with Ranku joining Bahula and Abbey Cindi. Building on their predecessors' success, the Jazz Makers became a sensation, recording two albums and winning multiple jazz competitions.
Now "Down Lucky's Way" from 1969, has been reissued for the first time. The release includes liner notes with interviews featuring Julian Bahula and the late Lucas "Lucky" Ranku (1941-2016), one of Africa's greatest guitarists.
"Down Lucky's Way" marked a shift in their sound, incorporating organ bass and soprano saxophone alongside Lucky's innovative guitar work. This album's hypnotic, extended compositions made it their most visionary and atmospheric work. However, due to the apartheid era's erasures, the album was barely distributed, and original copies are extremely rare. Ranku himself was unaware it had ever been released. Fully licensed from Bahula, this reissue finally brings the album to light.

The Cyrkle produced one album's worth of solid garage rock, and it certainly proves that the band was an enthusiastic bunch of musicians. Much closer to late '60s garage (proto) punk than psychedelia, the album was released in 1969. They were best known for their 1966 song 'Red Rubber Ball' (written by Paul Simon) which went to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band was discovered and managed by Brian Epstein and given the unique spelling of their name by John Lennon. The group was formed by guitarists and lead singers Don Dannemann and Tom Dawes (bass guitar), who met while studying at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. The other members were Earl Pickens on keyboards and Marty Fried on drums. Includes 8 bonus tracks.

DESTROY ALL MONSTERS - BORED (UK)
Influential Detroit band Destroy All Monsters mashed up punk, garage and noise rock, their atypical work notably influencing Sonic youth's Thurston Moore. By the time of their first recordings, the group included pedigree members such as guitarist Ron Asheton of the Stooges and bassist Mike Davis of the MC5, as well as drummer Rob King, apoplectic vocalist Niagara, and assorted friends. 'Bored' is a must-have compilation that brings together their early singles from the late 1970s, including 'You're Gonna Die,' 'Nov 22,' 'Meet The Creeper,' 'What Do I Get?' and the outstanding title track that began their acceleration.

DR K'S BLUES BAND - DR K'S BLUES BAND
After briefly replacing Eric Clapton in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, guitarist/bassist Geoff Krivit formed Dr K's Blue Band with pianist Richard Kay and singer/harmonica player Mick Hasse, the lineup completed by bassist Harold Vickers, slide guitarist Roger Rolt and future Steve Hillage drummer Eric Peachey. Their self-titled debut had top-notch renditions of blues classics such as 'I Can't Lose,' 'Key To The Highway' and 'Pet Cream Man,' as well as spirited originals such as 'Strobe Lemming's Lament' and the piano stomp 'Crippled Clarence,' but the album failed to break through. Grab a copy of this rarity to be blown away! Originally released in 1968.

This incredibly rare release predates their more widely-known second album, 'Mice And Rats In The Loft.' This is superb psych-folk dated 1969. Jan Dukes De Grey started out as a duo of two multi-instrumentalists, Michael Bairstow and Derek Noy, who stood midway between Tyrannosaurus Rex and Jethro Tull with very short all-acoustic songs with strange lyrics. Similar to early Incredible String Band or Mark Fry, with a touch of Comus weirdness. A mixture of trippy and stoned songs and instrumentals with eastern feel. A unique album. One of the most brilliant acoustic experiments of folk-psych-prog rock ever.

Lead by composer Walter Boudreau (aka retlaW uaerduoB) and poet, singer, trumpeter Raôul Duguay (aka luôaR yauguD) this very loose collective featured up to 33 artists from various backgrounds ranging from free jazz, classical, contemporary, rock, visual arts and poetry. It's hard to understand why Warne Marsh was so neglected during his lifetime. It's harder still to substantiate the charges with which his music was branded - cerebral, cold, unemotional, uninvolving. This album alone, one of his best, should have been enough to put such absurd slurs to rest. The music on 'Ne Plus Ultra' is intimate, warm, passionate, risky. There is much beauty to be shared. 'The Voice Of Scott McKenzie' is the debut album by Scott McKenzie, released in 1967. The timeless 'San Francisco' is the featuring track on the collection but listen to what Scott does with John Phillips' 'Twelve-Thirty,' which went on to be a hit record for Phillips' own group, The Mamas And Papas. McKenzie's rendition of Donovan's 'Celeste' has a languid beauty, while Tim Hardin's 'Reason To Believe' is one of the best received by the song.

NUNEZ, FLIP - MY OWN TIME AND SPACE
Of Filipino descent, the expressive keyboardist, vocalist, and composer Flip Nuñez enjoyed a varied career in jazz. After backing Bev Kelly, Jon Hendricks, and others in the 1960s, Nuñez impacted in the Latin jazz-rock act Azteca. The marvellous 'My Own Time And Space,' his only solo album, showcases his versatility; the Latin cadences of Willie Colon and former Santana bassist Tom Rutley and the keen jazz phrasings of guitarist Michael Howell and drummer Vince Lateano make superb backing for Nuñez's piano and synthesizer flourishes, bolstered by his emotive voice. A lost classic, and one that sounds better with every spin.

Here's the official reissue of the album originally released on Dallas' Pompeii label in April 1969. When he was out on tour with his regular gig, the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, Ike found the time to cut this unbelievable instrumental album. Whenever he had some spare time he would drag the band into a local studio and lay down tracks, resulting in these 12 funky soul jams that sound like they were lifted from a blaxploitation movie. The band is tight and laid-back at once, with horns at the forefront most of the time. Los Angeles hip-hop group Jurassic 5 later sampled 'Getting Nasty' on their self-titled EP.
