'Imagination Lady' is the fifth long-player for Stan Webb's Chicken Shack, originally released in 1971. In regards to original material, 'Daughter Of The Hillside' is without a doubt Webb's most impressive contribution to the album. It is arguably the strongest side on the disc. This straight-ahead rocker is an ideal trio effort with equal contributions from all three recalling the intense instrumentality of Cream or early Led Zeppelin. In an ironic contrast, the closing number 'The Loser' is upbeat and almost pop-oriented, again displaying the immense strength of this short-lived incarnation of Chicken Shack.

This album is an interpretation of the different stages that constitute the death of a supernova, as well as the hypothesis of the heat death of the universe. Both of these hypothesis stem from the second law of thermodynamics, which states that entropy tends to increase in an isolated system. If this system lasts enough, eventually energy would evenly dissipate, cooling it off. Compared to the previous album, 'Entropy Death' constitutes a more hardcore punk approach to kraut rock, along with a few other unorthodox rhythmic sections that give the album a singular yet original grit. 'Entropy Death' was composed, arranged and recorded at home with the help of Gustavo Jimenez on drums and Sergio Florean on electric guitar.
'Entropy Death' is De la Mora's 2nd solo album. Emitting from
Guadalajara, De la Mora's endeavour is to create futuristic landscapes that could be played in alien surgery rooms, spaceship pursuits, Martian extreme sports events, et al.
These compositions are being presented live as a group named El Nuevo Conjunto Musical de Fabriccio de la Mora (the new musical group of Fabriccio de la Mora), that includes the support of
the artists Gustavo Jimenez, Sergio Florean, Erick A. Torres, Alberto Ortiz, and Fausto Arellano. Limited to 250 copies on orange vinyl.

Repress! The fifth studio album and last euphoric mind-trip to Kikagaku Moyo's imagined island. Best-suited for counting stars, looking at the ocean, and dancing in one's daydream. In many ways 'Kumoyo Island' represents the culmination of a journey for Kikagaku Moyo. While their decade-long career can be summarized as a series of kaleidoscopic explorations through lands and dimensions far and near, there's a strong intention in each of their works to take the listener to a particular place, however real or abstract they may be. In that sense, the title and cover art for the band's fifth and final album draws you into a magical mass of land surrounded by water... but the couch suggests that 'Kumoyo Island'may not be a fleeting stop, but rather a place of respite, where one could pause and take it all in. Reconvening at Tsubame Studios in Asakusabashi, Tokyo, where their earliest material had been recorded, the five members of Kikagaku Moyo found new inspiration in a familiar and comfortable environment. With their adopted homebase of Amsterdam under lockdown and their touring activities halted due to the pandemic, the band felt a renewed sense of freedom being back in Shitamachi, or the old downtown area of their hometown. With unrestricted time in the studio, they began to build upon the demos and song fragments they'd amassed since their last tour. In the 1.5 months spent in Tokyo, everything started to come together. 'Monaka,' its name taken from a type of Japanese wafer sweets, takes melodic inspiration from traditional minyofolk styles, while 'Yayoi Iyayoi' is a rare instance of the band singing in their native tongue, its evocative lyrics utilizing archaic words taken from old poetry and nature books found in one of the many second-hand bookstores of Tokyo. For 'Meu Mar,' an Erasmos Carlos cover, the original Portuguese lyrics were translated into English, then to Japanese. Strangely enough, the words seem to conjure an image of the protagonist floating among the clouds, looking down upon Tokyo Bay. In fact, it may be possible to draw a parallel between the topography of the band's home country... an island nation, surrounded by bodies of water... and the mysterious isle of Kumoyo. Are they one and the same? Has the band finally made it back home? It's up to the listener to decide..

2018 album remastered and available on vinyl for the first time! "We all know that music moves in 'cycles'; a generation will discover, revisit and rework the music of a former generation. We've seen this happen on a regular basis with differing results. One of the most pleasing of these revisits sees contemporary bands look back to the early pioneers of electronic music, especially the Berlin scene of the seventies, and thus we see the likes of Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and Klaus Schulze becoming huge influences on modern music (it is fair to say, however, that these have long been major influences but now that influence is worn like a statement of intent). Add to this the rise in popularity of film soundtracks and a whole new generation becoming familiar with the likes of Fabio Frizzi, John Carpenter, Goblin etc etc and you have a heady brew of contemporary analogue music that treats these influences with the respect they deserve but add their own distinctive twist on affairs. That preamble leads to this album by Mutante, the pairing of Alec Wood and Jonathan Parkes, who you may know from their equally as excellent Korb project. Previously out in 2018 on CD and digital on Dreamlord Recordings, this wonderful slice of nostalgic electronica is receiving a well deserved vinyl outing courtesy of those fine dudes at Up In Her Room Records. Now, as a rule I do try, not always successfully, not to use the word 'cinematic' but in this case I'm just gonna have to... What is the origin of this strange, unplaceable music? What is its place in history, in the
unfolding of important conceptual ideas, turning musical modernism into something wider, more mysterious and blurred? From where comes the lightness of touch, and how does the transient nature of the sounds correspond to the sense of mourning hidden within the music? What makes the music so exciting and loaded is the feeling of change, both in the actual performances and in the atmosphere of the rooms

Px3Kauppila is Pauliina Kauppila is a respected percussionist and psychiatrist, a combination of two themes that is a red line in her debut album derived from endlessly curious about life. The first ever vinyl reissue of this rare, sought after and extremely stoned Swedish psych/progressive/experimental underground treasure from 1971. The LP was originally released on the legendary Gump label and features the mythical musicians Heinar Heckscher and Johnny Mowinckel. Side 1 is sung in English and side 2 in Swedish. The band name got mixed up many times by collectors and was thought to have been either Telefon Paisa (an earlier incarnation of the band) or Telefon (the album title), but this reissue sets the record straight and tells the true story. The LP is manufactured in a limited edition of 600 copies and includes a fine booklet with lots of previously unpublished photos and in-depth liner notes.

VON WIEDING, ALEXANDER - MAGIR - KLANGSPIEL
After his one-man-lo-fi-garage-doom-blues alter-ego Larman Clamor, Alexander von Wieding releases his newest musical child into the world. Far from his previous musical orientation, as AvW he explores simpler, almost more intimate paths. With this project, he sets his latest creation, the visionary graphic novel 'Magir', to music. With synthesizer sounds, which with their minimalist nature are reminiscent of soundtracks from '80s horror films, von Wieding "paints" musically once more. It hums, buzzes, crackles and purrs wonderfully analogue from the speakers. A completely different world opens up here than that previously known from Alexander von Wieding. Partly surprising and partly not - after all, the illustrator and musician's versatility in styles is already known and loved. But 'Klangspiel' is more than a normal soundtrack. Rather, von Wieding's performance sees itself as a kind of expansion to the image of the graphic novel written and drawn by him. Meditative and seething, 'Klangspiel' takes us into the mysterious and transcendental world of 'Magir'. The melodies eat their way into the ear canals like a smoldering fire comparable to great artists like Rudy Adrian, Steve Moore or Sinoia Caves, von Wieding does not shy away from exploring previously unknown territory with synthesizer sounds and almost new age-like music. Also working wonderfully on its own and as a pure soundtrack, 'Klangspiel' unfolds its full potential in combination with the graphic novel 'Magir - Erstes Buch: Sicht' ('Magir - First Book: Sight') and the so-called 'Wegweiser' ('The Guide'), a cryptic commentary on von Wieding's wordless story. Once again, von Wieding adds another creative and sparkling particle to his creative mosaic. And who knows where the journey will go next... But one thing is clear: his latest instrumental creation 'Magir - Klangspiel' is atmosphere at its finest!

Deluxe extended reissue of seminal LP from female-fronted essential underground New York City band featuring Howie Pyro that existed 1986-1989. Freaks - yes, no "The" - were an important underground New York City-based rock and roll band that grew out of the late-1970's and early-1980's punk and garage scenes. They existed between 1986 and 1989 and today remain a vital missing link between what was in that previous underground and what would soon become the alternative rock explosion of the '90s. This female-fronted - a rarity in those years - band was composed of seasoned veterans. Lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist, Andrea Matthews Kusten (ex-The Outta Place, future-Fuzztones), bassist Howie Pyro (ex-The Blessed, future-D Generation and Danzig), lead guitarist John Fay (ex-The Tryfles), and drummer Eric Eckley comprised the classic lineup. Musically, they fused their deep and deeply-shared punk, garage, psychedelia, acid, glitter, thrash, proto-metal and trash/pop culture obsessions into one cohesive sonic package they branded heavy orange rock. Live, they were a glittery, grimey shock troop. Like their heroes Kiss, they wanted to be the band you never saw. Freaks played every room in the Tri-State area, often with notable local and national bands - Raging Slab and Soundgarden, included. As they were fans-first, they helped kickstart the careers of many others - most notably the then-teenaged Lunachicks, who have recently reunited. They released one self-financed 7" EP as well as the 'In-Sensurround' LP on Resonance records. Sadly, the band imploded soon after the LP's release due to the pressures of having too many lineup changes in too short a period of time. Howie, Andrea and John all moved on to different projects while Eric retired from performing. Unfortunately, Howie - who in decades since had become a globally-respected DJ and museum-status pop culture collector/curator - passed away in 2022. His vast collection is now in storage with bills that now need to be paid. To honor that legacy, Andrea and John assembled and released the limited edition 'Still In-Sensurround' retrospective 2xLP on their own Orange Productions with nearly all material taken from the master tapes. It covers everything they ever recorded - including their mind blowing 'Pippi Skelter' mini-opera - which was only available on cassette - as well as their contribution to the long-lost Shonen Knife tribute album on Gasatanka records. All proceeds from the record go to Howie's estate, which seeks to preserve his legacy intact.

The Skeptics from Bartlesville, Oklahoma recorded a total of 6 45rpm's which were hard to get with picture sleeve when they were issued back in the day. The group has been best described as a garage rock version of the Zombies with a Southern accent of lead singer Jerry Waugh. On a scale from 1 to 10, with the Dovers being a 10, it is fair to say that at least four songs are on par with the Dovers and the rest not too far off mark.
Unheard of for nearly 50 years, an entire LP has been released for the first time on vinyl - the way it was originally intended. In 1965-66, The Bush ruled the teen scene in Californias Inland Empire with smash hits on the local charts and throngs of fans flocking to their gigs. Originally called the Bushmen, they were the first band in their area with the longhaired Rolling Stones look. After they opened for the Stones in 1965 they became local superstars almost overnight. Girls wanted to sleep with them while envious guys either wanted to beat them up or be them. The CD features 27 tracks including all the Bushs 45rpm releases along with 21 amazing unissued tracks unearthed from lead singer Steve Hoards personal archive of master tapes and acetates.
The deluxe CD packaging includes a 20-page booklet with full liner notes and tons of vintage photos. Here's the debut solo-album from Australian musician Jim Dickson. His career as a bass player has spanned 40 years, from the early days of '70s punk in Brisbane (Australia) with the Survivors to touring the world as a member of Radio Birdman. He also was a member of Sydney's Passengers and New Christs, and London-based Barracudas. Jim has also played and recorded with well known Australian artists s.a. Louis Tillett, Deniz Tek, Charlie Owen, and Steve Lucas. This album reveals elements of pop, psychedelia, rhythm'n'blues, folk and gospel, fleshed out with rock'n'roll. Prior to joining the Pretty Things in early 1967, Wally Waller and Jon Povey were members of another group from the same neighborhood, the Fenmen. Throughout 1965 and 66 the Fenmen crafted a strong harmony-based sound influenced by California groups like the Beach Boys, but retaining a strong English flavor. Their outstanding harmonies attracted the attention and praise of Graham Nash and Andrew Loog Oldham, who frequently employed them as backing singers on his sessions.
SUNSTROKE presents a treasure trove of rare and unreleased Fenmen tracks, including 1965 demo recordings, a 1966 BBC radio session, a raw early 1963 acetate, and seven new tracks by Waller and Povey in the harmony-rich tradition of the Fenmen and the 1967-71 Pretty Things, including a breathtaking new arrangement of "The Sun." The compilation kicks off with both sides from The Outspoken Blues' ultra-rare and killer $5,000 single of 'Not Right Now' b/w 'Mister You're A Better Man Than I' that was originally released on the highly sought after Orlyn Records studio label in 1966; that single is followed by 11 fabulous and never-before-released 1967 garage/r&b tracks from The Outspoken Blues' unreleased album, including seven originals ('Not Right Now', 'Sitting On A Sunday', 'A Wonderful Summer', 'I Can't Make You Love Me', 'I'll Stay','All Your Love' and 'N.Y.P.D') and five covers ('Mister You're A Better Man Than I', 'I Know', 'Hold On I'm Comin'', 'Turn On Your Lovelight' and 'Since I Don't Have You'). Also featured are two great and previously unreleased 1968 garage tracks ('Poor Rich Man' and 'Jr. Saw It Happen') that were recorded under the moniker of The Prod. Available again. 'Shades Of Deepest Purple from the BBC Archives 1967-1971'. With this second excavation of previously unreleased live BBC session performances spanning the period 1967 - 1971, 'Shapes And Sounds' becomes a series and volume 2 features a completely different line up of bands from last years' set. Pride of place on this second edition arguably goes to the Gun, with three astonishing performances that were recorded nearly a year before 'Race With The Devil' which illustrate their menu of mod and psych pop, with cracking versions of Rupert's Peoples 'Hold On', Paul Simons 'A Most Peculiar Man' and a quite splendid airing of their legendary 'Light On The Wall'! The Casuals surprise with the beat of 'Midnight Confessions' and 'Take Me For A Little While' as well as a fine rendering of 'Jesamine', whilst the Mirage perform a live version of their May 1967 single 'The Wedding Of Ramona Blair'. The Alan Bown play an excellent take of 'Magic Handkerchief' and even more interestingly offer two numbers that never appeared on any Bown release, with the self penned progressive popper 'Movie Star Baby' and a brilliant interpretation of the Association's 'Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies'. Also with three tracks on Shapes And Sounds are Wales' Bystanders, who turn in a lovely version of 'Royal Blue Summer Sunshine Day' as well as a glorious homage to the Byrds with 'Renaissance Fair'. Even better and long talked about in collectors circles but never previously released is their absolutely stunning rendition of 'I Am The Walrus', which Top Sounds are sure will disappoint no-one! Sourced from an off air recording of their only British television appearance on Disco 2, Killing Floor perform "Milkman" from their Out Of Uranus LP in superb quality (the TV show was wiped decades ago) and of similarly heinous rarity are live tracks from Portrait and Katch 22, who turn in forceful renderings of 'Born To Be Wild' and 'The Price Of Lov' respectively (the latter of which is better than the Status Quo cover!) The sound quality is absolutely superb throughout, with twelve of the sixteen tracks sourced from original BBC Transcription records. The other performances have been taken from excellent off air recordings and similarly shine and though few of the tracks on the collection needed much enhancement at all, all have nevertheless been professionally restored and mastered.

Available again. Top Sounds Records return once again with another collection of music recorded live for BBC radio and TV during the late 1960s and early 70s, with a significant proportion of wonderful material long thought lost. The compilation begins and ends with some most welcome performances from BILL FAY, documenting his appearance on the Disco 2 television show in early 1971. With the TV programme being wiped this is the only known evidence of Bill playing live, and he performs in superb audio quality 'Tell It Like It Is' and a song he never recorded anywhere else called 'After The Revolution'. Three tracks from THE PRETTY THINGS late 1968 session for Top Gear have been widely available for a while but the fourth, a version of 'Old Man Going', was never retained by the BBC - needless to say Top Sounds have located a master tape of the performance and are pleased to inform the Pretties' fans that its even better than the album version, with the fuzzed guitar cranked up to maximum! A double CD of DAVE DEE, DOZY, BEAKY, MICK and TICH's BBC sessions was released in 2008, but Shapes And Sounds Three adds to that considerable legacy with a better version of 'Frustration' and more spectacularly, the band's fantastic psychedelic rock assault on the First Edition's ust Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)'. Long time favourites with psych pop enthusiasts are THE END who have had much previously unreleased music released in the past, their BBC sessions however have always proved elusive as the BBC wiped their tapes. Rescued from off air recordings Top Sounds present two numbers from their 1968 'Top Gear', with an atmospheric rendering of 'Shades Of Orange' and a brilliant take of 'Under The Rainbow' which is wildly different from the studio version on the 'Introspection' album. Like The End, Geordie psychsters SKIP BIFFERTY have been well served by compilations - 'In The Morning' and 'Follow The Path Of The Stars' however now appear in pristine quality straight from transcription disc whilst 'On Love' and 'Yours For At Least 24' (from their first ever radio session) make their debut and were previously presumed lost. BBC material by CUPID'S INSPIRATION similarly emerges for the first time with a quite splendid mix of pop, blues and rock across four numbers, only one of which was ever released in their original discography. Especially noteworthy is a crunching take of 'Dream' and a frantic version of Garnet Mimms' 'As Long As I Have You'. GULLIVERS PEOPLE prove admirably they could deliver psych pop with an excellent performance of the Bee Gees' psych opus 'Horizontal' whilst 'On A Day Like This' improves on the single, then finally Plymouth group THE EARTH offer some rather good tunes with live versions of 'Everyone Sing The Song' and the prog rock favourite 'Resurrection City' from 1969. The music has all been professionally restored and mastered and the presentation is immaculate and as with the previous 'Shapes And Sounds' volumes, Artholeghraphics have designed a memorable period flavoured package. The CD has a twenty eight page colour booklet based on a vintage Radio Times magazine packed with illustrations, band histories and listings of all their known BBC sessions written and supplied by Nigel Lees, author of much of Record Collector magazine's 'The British Psychedelic Trip' series. Bar the appearance of some of the Skip Bifferty recordings which have previously appeared in off air quality, none of these performances have ever been commercially available and most have not been heard in public since the 60's. 'Shapes And Sounds Volume Three' is a legitimate release, licensed from the BBC with the blessing / co-operation of many band members.
