BLACK ELEPHANT - THE FALL OF THE GODS
Heavy blues, check... fuzz, check... psychedelic, check! At 14 years of existence Italy's Black Elephant return with a monster of an album entitled 'The Fall Of The Gods.' We are talking album of the year material! It is that good. In 2018 the band unleashed 'Cosmic Blues,' a true underground classic. In 2020 the band delivered the Japanese themed 'Seven Swords.' The DNA shared between these two albums are very simple: both are collections of classic-minded heavy groovers, picking the best the '70s, '90s and '10s had to offer in face melting riffery. 'The Fall Of The Gods' continues in the tradition of their two previous sonic gems, and really takes things to a heavier place, both figuratively, and literally. A wide range of dynamics are present (All Them Witches come to mind). Hints of Hendrix meld with moments of '90s shoegaze (think the Verve's 'A Storm In Heaven' album), and then head down a long desert highway that would make Brant Bjork feel at home. Fuzz pedals preach on, the sky cracks, and the riffs crush. The world's ending anyway. You might as well have some fun with it.

"'Storia Notturna' is a collection of music written, produced and recorded mainly in September 2021, but its origins goes back in time. As far back as my University studies in the early '90s. For one of the many extra-departmental courses that my study plan in Philosophy allowed, I chose Social History
and found myself studying the seminal study by Carlo Ginzburg I Benandanti: 'Stregoneria E Culti Agrari Tra Cinquecento E Seicento' (Einaudi, 1966). It was a revelation. Ginzburg started from the analysis of a curious and widely documented Friulian fertility cult to show, on the one hand, how the
Catholic inquisition overturned the perspective of the suspects, turning them from enemies of the witches for the defense of the crops into worshipers of the devil and, on the on the other hand, how some of the distinctive aspects of this cult had very ancient origins and, above all, traits common to
traditions traceable in an enormous variety of times and places all over the world. In the following years, for pure personal pleasure, I continued to deepen my studies on these topics, and a couple of years ago my bookseller friend (and author of a beautiful book published by Utet) Giovanni Spadaccini got me a copy of the first edition of 'Storia Notturna,' an essay from 1989 in which Carlo Ginzburg deepened and expanded the investigation on the themes already treated in 'I Benandanti.'
By the end of the book, something clicked in my head. Suddenly some of the many musical tracks that I continuously produce in my studio began to suggest a path that I hadn't guessed before. I felt the urgency to immediately write and record other songs that would complete the picture that had by now outlined. In a few weeks I had an album, "a tale of Italian psychomagic in music", as a friend defined it. I'd like to thank Giovanni Spadaccini not only for providing the book, but also for having
been the very first listener and critic of my music, immediately followed by my bandmate and lifelong musical companion Nicola Caleffi. Their encouragement convinced me to overcome my chronic indecision, my well-founded self-criticism and to decide to publish this material. Pasquale Lomolino

I've played, recorded and produced this music myself, with the help of some contributions from friends and family, often unaware of the use I would make of their voices. Gotho is an experimental instrumental duo formed in 2020.
Their debut track, 'Gatta De Blanc,' was a 25-minute composition, showcasing their signature mix of synthesizers, electric piano, and drums, with no backing tracks or overdubs. Blending elements of progressive rock, metal, jazz, disco, psychedelia, post-rock, and classical, their sound defies categorization. After gaining acclaim for their live performances, they released their first album, 'MindBowling!,' in October 2022 through Controcanti Produzioni, receiving strong reviews. In November 2024, Gotho releases 'Gothron Versus Fartark' with Supernatural Cat. Set in a sci-fi world, the album tells the story of two robotic enemies battling for their world's survival, using synthesizers, electric piano, vocoder, trumpet, and drums to narrate Gothron's victory over Fartark. Like their previous work, the album spans multiple genres, resisting any single classification. Gotho are Fabio Cuomo (Elder, Eremite, Liquido Di Morte) on synth and electric piano and Andrea Peracchia (Tons, Dogs For Breakfast, Slaiver) on drums.

Essentially a duo, with the aid of select studio musicians, Jupiter Fungus combine captivating themes with meticulous arrangements and passionate performances, not unlike their heroes. Their holistic approach, including their breathtaking artwork, adds to the legacy of 'Garden Electric,' making for one of the best albums of the genre. A studio band duo from Piraeus, Greece, formed in 2012 by Ares Papatriantafillou (ex-Father Sun) on keyboards and vocals and Fotis Xenikoudakis (ex-Father Sun, The Telestons) on flute. Following the breakup of their band and having spent several years in the local stoner-rock scene, they decided it was time for a change and moved on to their next project, a roots-inspired progressive rock album. Between the search for musicians to accompany the duo and time-consuming setbacks, such as the theft of their studio, it was evident that the project was showing signs of an ill-fated future. Eventually they managed to override the obstacles and with the combined forces of George Emmanuel from Pentagram Studio (ex-Rotting Christ) on the mixing boards and guitars and Nick Vell (Chaostar, Kinoskop) on drums, both from the ranks of Lucifer's Child, and George Papageorgiou on bass, they managed to fulfill their aspirations and present you with a familiar yet fresh approach to a remarkable era. The Kryss Talmeth Experience is a psychedelic stoner blues band based in Edinburgh Scotland, serving up a heady blend of filthy riffage, groovy basslines, swinging rhythms and more fuzz than an illustrated copy of the joy of sex. Gotho is an experimental instrumental duo formed in 2020.
Their debut track, 'Gatta De Blanc,' was a 25-minute composition, showcasing their signature mix of synthesizers, electric piano, and drums, with no backing tracks or overdubs. Blending elements of progressive rock, metal, jazz, disco, psychedelia, post-rock, and classical, their sound defies categorization. After gaining acclaim for their live performances, they released their first album, 'MindBowling!,' in October 2022 through Controcanti Produzioni, receiving strong reviews. In November 2024, Gotho releases 'Gothron Versus Fartark' with Supernatural Cat. Set in a sci-fi world, the album tells the story of two robotic enemies battling for their world's survival, using synthesizers, electric piano, vocoder, trumpet, and drums to narrate Gothron's victory over Fartark. Like their previous work, the album spans multiple genres, resisting any single classification. Gotho are Fabio Cuomo (Elder, Eremite, Liquido Di Morte) on synth and electric piano and Andrea Peracchia (Tons, Dogs For Breakfast, Slaiver) on drums.

A studio band duo from Piraeus, Greece, formed in 2012 by Ares Papatriantafillou (ex-Father Sun) on keyboards and vocals and Fotis Xenikoudakis (ex-Father Sun, The Telestons) on flute. Following the breakup of their band and having spent several years in the local stoner-rock scene, they decided it was time for a change and moved on to their next project, a roots-inspired progressive rock album. The year, and yes the title of this album: '1989.' The band is making a latterday return visit to their first label: Utrecht's Kelt Records. The track 'Girl In The Park' was originally released on a compilatiom EP and the debut single 'Stand Up' was a big radio hit with the alternative radio programme 'Nozems-A-Gogo' and enjoyed heavy rotation on national radio. And heavy was the word for this power trio. Influenced by seventies rockbands but always with an ear for what was going on at the time. This is followed by Mototeru's solo 'Remember.' Side B of the LP starts another solo by Choi Sun Bae this time. The set ends with the absolute highlight: a powerful trio track 'Step By Step.' A great documentation of the fame and glory of free jazz in Japan!
