18 KARAT GOLD - ALL BUMM
An official reissue of the legendary album 'All Bumm' by German supergroup 18 Karat Gold. Featuring studio musician Keith Forsey on drums (Hallelujah/Amon Düül II), bass genius Lothar Meid (Amon Düül II), Jörg Evers (guitar) from Embryo and American-German guitar talent Klaus Ebert on lead guitar, the idea behind 18 Karat Gold seems to have been to present a krautrock influenced take on English icons like David Bowie, Roxy Music and perhaps T.Rex and Slade. Stunning instrumentals, catchy pop and gaudy rock, and the ocassional cosmic murmur à la Amon Düül II will satisfy all your musical needs. The LP comes in a special gold coloured cover.

ANUNNAKI - (PURPLE) MARTYR OF ALEXANDRIA
Limited repress of 100 copies on purple vinyl, only ahandful available, so first come, first served. Across their previous seven releases the Nanaimo, BC Canada-based instrumental duo Anunnaki have explored such intriguing sources of inspiration as Hermeticism, Japanese UFO folklore, and beckoning the Apocalypse. These topics considered, it will surprise few that on their EP 'Martyr Of Alexandria', the bicephalic psych-drone-rock powerhouse have turned their exploratory gaze to specific events that occurred in 5th century Alexandria. Indeed, having named themselves for mythological Sumerian deities, Dave Read (Moths & Locusts) and Arlen Thompson (Wolf Parade) suggest an intent to operate as wide-eyed sonic archeologists on a quest for truths both musical and spiritual, and as such are delving deeper and deeper into their historical fascinations with each successive release. With three brain-melting tracks occupying 30 minutes, on 'Martyr Of Alexandria; Read (basses/guitars/synths/effects) and Thompson (drums/synths/samples) have crafted a visceral aural tapestry examining the harrowing demise of Hypatia, a pagan philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician known in her day as a teacher possessed of great wisdom. As a victim of accusatory rumours emanating from a complex religiopolitical situation at a violent time in history, Hypatia was martyred following her brutal end at the hands of an incited, rabid Christian mob in 415 AD: 1,606 years on, Anunnaki pay tribute.

ANUNNAKI/CHINO BURGA - PANAMERICAN SONIC PRAYERS (PD)
High evolutionary sonic meditations from two of the best practitioners of free flowing drone from the Americas in Anunnaki (Wolf Parade/Moths & Locusts) and Chino Burga (3AM/Culto Al Qondor). Over 2 side-long hypnotic meditations where minimal electronics flow into languid low-end reverberations and drones that tug on the loose threads of the cosmos. Think of Tangerine Dream, Cluster and Eno floating on a raft in the middle of the Pacific Ocean as the electronic and bass create a rippling and immersive flow that rises and falls in time with the rhythm of your psychedelic soul. Within the grooves of 'Panamerican Sonic Prayers' you are given access to a deep and spiritual peak if you follow these instructions. Step one is to put away the earthling and relative concept of time. Once you put away that concept, second step is to realize that everything is vibration and that consciousness changes via repetition. Third step is to jump into the space-time void.
Limited to 300 picture discs.

ARS NOVA (USA) - ARS NOVA
Ars Nova was an American psychedelic/progressive rock band that performed and recorded from 1967 to 1969. They recorded two albums. The first was a 1968 self-titled album for the Elektra label, on which the personnel comprised Wyatt Day (guitar, vocals, piano, organ), John Pierson (vocal, trombone), Maury Baker (organ, percussion), Giovanni Papalia (lead guitar), Bill Folwell (trumpet, bass, vocals), and Jonathan Raskin (bass, guitar, vocals). The album was produced by Paul Rothchild and Arthur Gorson. On their first album Ars Nova write lovely tunes and the whole album does, surprisingly enough, not become as pretentious as it could have been, the name of the band notwithstanding. Two of the tracks even get covered ('Fields Of People' by The Move and 'I Wrapped Her In Ribbons' by Galliard, both U.K. bands!). Other highlights include 'March Of The Mad Duke's Circus,' with vaguely renaissance- like harmonies and 'General Clover End A War,' a bitter and driven satire on military affairs. 'Automatic Love' contains a Dixieland part, while 'I Wrapped Her In Ribbons' begins with beautiful choral singing before it becomes a ballad underscored by baroque acoustic guitar. 'Song To The City' has a nice church organ intro. Besides that, there are many baroque elements, even to the point of counterpoint. Great, for example, the interplay of trumpet and acoustic guitar on 'Pavan For My Lady,' in quiet 6/8 time (which one can argue would later become the progressive rock beat par excellence). At that time a highlight was certainly the interesting adaptation of the beginning of 'Also Sprach Zarathustra,' which is not simply replayed here, but becomes the occasion for own, partly very humorous, further developments of the theme in Beat sound of the late '60s. Most tracks were penned by Wyatt Day sometimes helped by John Pierson. Certainly, one of the best early prog albums and an absolute gem! The album comes as an original reproduction of the US-cover (gatefold sleeve) with all lyrics, band story, rare photos in a 4 sided cover sized insert sheet. Remastered from a master copy out of the vaults of Warner Music. Brillant sounding! This is a real jewel of US psychedelic music. An absolute classic. Don't miss it.

BAILEY, STEPHEN - 9
The last we heard from Stephen Bailey was in May 2018, when he released his debut album 'Silo', a sprawling collection of warped psych-pop that zigzagged between classic '60s rock and eerie freak folk, and served as an impressive introduction into his expansive sound. It has been a little bit of a break, although he certainly hasn't been resting on his laurels, as he also fronts Perth heavy-hitters Mt. Mountain. '9' picks up where 'Silo' left off, creating a familiar sense of warmth and lushness, however, this time around things feel more considered, compared to the lo-fi bedroom psych pop nature of 'Silo'. Led by woozy keys that constantly stab over a laid-back drum and bass grooves while grainy guitar chords chime in as instruments leave plenty of space for Stephen's warbly voice to cut through, up close and delicate, as he weaves the track's strongest hooks almost effortlessly. Expressions of indecisiveness towards love, misinterpretation and happiness in isolation litter the lyrics of '9' creating a introspective mood that suck you further into the lush atmosphere of Stephen's recordings.

BAND OF CLOUD - A IS FOR ANDROMEDA
The journey along the 'Space Time Continuum' brings us to 'A For Andromeda' - the second album from Band Of Cloud following the success and critical acclaim for the 2022 debut album 'This Is Tomorrow.' Band Of Cloud return quickly with the album 'A For Andromeda.' Written and recorded by David Owen (The Hollow Men, Storm Chorus, The FLK) and Peter Bingham (Sendelica, The Lost Stoned Pandas etc.). It's 4 tracks of hypnotic, psychedelic ambiance, floating through space and drifting through time. Sometimes, it's an assault on the senses. Othertimes, it's an LSD trip without drugs. Occasionally, it's Spermatozoic colour and sound. Possibly, it's a signal from another galaxy. Maybe, it's an instruction for design. Limited to 300 copies on white vinyl including postcards and sticker.

BIRTH - LIVE IN TUCSON
Birth is the project of Grant Beyachau and Nik Rayne from The Myrrors who performed as Birth for this live improvisational performance in Tucson (USA). The performance was captured onto a handheld recorder (you can hear instrument leads buzz and cut out for a second here and there as things start up) as Birth, seated on the floor, journey towards a state of transcendence in front of a small but appreciative audience. Taking cues from Terry Riley, LaMonte Young as well as Spacemen 3 ('Dreamweapon'), minimalist artists who offer no concessions to the listener except to surrender yourself to the drone. Grant creates swirling cyclic passages via analogue synthesizer and tape machine loops as Nik conjures subliminal notes via guitar and space echo. Over 25 minutes they create an experience of devotional music influenced by Middle Eastern and Sufism cultures, as notes bleed and swirl together in a lysergic haze. Its fluidity is its greatest strength as the piece offers no navigation points - all they ask is that through a mixture of drone, repetition and simple melodies that you surrender yourself to the trance-like and hallucinatory delirium created. It is captivating. 'Live In Tucson' is a one off 300 pressing - all black vinyl. Housed in a 350gsm sleeve and given a private press like presentation via the sleeve and labels. Download code included.

BLACK SUN ENSEMBLE - THE BLACK SUN ENSEMBLE (VOL. 2) (BLACK)
Lion and RTA's second volume of the Black Sun Ensemble's recordings for their classic first album contains an alternate version of that album, including the tracks from the Camera Obscura label CD (c. the year 2000) version of that album - well, sort of. When sifting through the masters while preparing the Lion/RTA reissue of the real, actual first Black Sun Ensemble album - as issued in 1985 on Pyknotic - it became clear that many of the original LP tracks were also on the Camera Obscura CD release, but under the wrong names. Others were present, but in versions which differed from the Pyknotic LP versions - and again, under the wrong names. So, for example, 'Mayan Dance' on the CD is actually the same theme as the Pyknotic LP 'Heart Of The Sky,' but not the same take. Here's the kicker: some of the tracks on the Camera Obscura CD share a name with a track from the Pyknotic LP, but are in fact completely new recordings, with no comparable on that original LP. 'Blue Thunder,' 'Red Ocean,' and 'Mandolin Winds' are three such compositions. This means that there are basically two quite different 'Blue Thunder's written by Jesus; two utterly different 'Red Ocean's; and two absolutely not-the-same 'Mandolin Winds' too. As a result, there are two separate Lion LP releases of Black Sun Ensemble's debut recordings: volume one (LION LP-193/RTAI007) with a black cover, as per the original, is just that: the original 1985 Pyknotic LP reissued for the first time. This second LP (LION LP-194/RTAI008), with a white cover, contains alternates and new tracks, as released on the CD reissue of BSE's debut. We felt it was important to keep the Pyknotic LP separate, to do justice to the original vision Jesus Acedo had when he self-released that music, and (eventually) found a segment of the world very willing to embrace it. But the other variations of that music are equally excellent and important, thus this second, separate LP for those gems. Comes with an 8-page booklet, with notes by Byron Coley, BSE bassist Mike Glidewell, Rich Hopkins (songwriter, Sidewinder, and founder of San Jacinto Records), and a reproduction of a poetry volume by BSE's Jesus Acedo.
This RTA edition is limited to 500 copies on black vinyl.

BLONDE ON BLONDE - CONTRASTS
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1969 on Pye Records. To check out Blonde on Blonde's 'Contrasts' album, light a joss stick and prepare to take a psychedelic trip back in time to those incense and peppermint flower-power days of the glorious late 1960s. The album starts with the dramatic introduction 'Ride With Captain Max' that sounds like something that was left out of the sessions of the Rolling Stones 'Their Satanic Majesties Request' with a pounding percussion roar, sneering guitars, and a thundering bass line that makes it perfect for a roller-coaster ride before going into a calm folk-like lyrics that is yet a breathtaking experience. This song is a veritable potpourri of acid-drenched guitar leads, gloriously combined with gentle acoustic guitar passages. Next, we have the early beginnings of raga-rock with sitar and flute on the groove with 'Spinning Wheel'. This guitar and sitar song sounds very Indian featuring a simply stunning sitar solo that radiates 1960s flower-power like a bright ray of sunshine. 'No Sleep Blues' is an entertaining interpretation of the Incredible String Band song, full of angelic slide guitar, tempo change, and such a connection with the original spirit of the piece, that if the ICB had ever rocked up, this is probably what they would have sounded like. 'Goodbye' is a bittersweet ballad with a lovely 1960s melody with a baroque pop sound. The garage rocker 'I Need My Friend' has a great pounding piano work, fuzz tone guitar sounds, another wild psychedelic excursion along the hippie trail. The doomy and explosive 'Mother Earth' is a sophisticated dramatic composition, still in a heavy blues rock vein, but with a more progressive atmosphere. Bonus track 'Country Life', the flipside of the first 7", a wonderful psych-pop song, closes side one. Side B starts with a very accomplished version of the Beatles' classic 'Eleanor Rigby', given the Blonde on Blonde jangling guitar treatment with an almost unrecognisable introduction, and replaces the string quartet with an insistent acoustic and gentle percussion - and a trumpet. 'Conversationally Making The Grade' is another rip-roaring sonic boom of keyboard prog with some wild psychedelic guitar riffing thrown in too. This music is a blast! 'Regency' is a short instrumental piece that goes into the classical sound of the 15th century with harpsichord and Spanish guitar fingerpicking techniques before seguing into the Renaissance folk beauty on 'Island On An Island', a lovely nautical-sounding folk song that dances merrily along on a wave of flutes, acoustic guitars and gorgeous multi-part harmonies. There's a beautiful ballad on the way with 'Don't Be Too Long', which is a complete contrast to the heavier psychedelic numbers on side one, and it's a welcome diversion too, featuring a vibrant acoustic guitar and with the singer in appealingly fine voice. This is probably one of the best 1960s pop songs that no one's ever heard of. The original album ended with the beautiful 'Jeanette Isabella', a gloriously uplifting piece of music, featuring scintillating sitars and acid-soaked electric guitars. On this reissue we have another bonus track with 'All Day All Night', the A-side of a 1968 single, heavy in sitar, recalling the Beatles' early use of the instrument, like a hi-energy 'Within You Without You'. This album is an authentic representation of what was being called progressive rock in 1969, before the release of King Crimson's debut, although not really what we'd think of as prog rock now. The quality lies in how the several genres (folk, blues, psych and rock) are fused together with a fresh energy, that successfully heralds in, and provides a missing link from psychedelic rock to progressive rock that was about to explode on an unprepared world. This rare album is a must have for anyone who wants to get into the deeper realms of the underground-era. The album comes with exact reproduction of original cover sleeve, additional cover-sized insert with bandstory and photos. A highlight! Highly recommended!

BRETT, PAUL -SAGE- - SCHIZOPHRENIA
This is the first official re-release of Paul Brett's Sage's third album, originally released 1972 on Dawn, under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. This album holds a special place with its solid production and melting of styles that range into rock, acid folkrock and blues with hints of flamenco and classic guitar thanks to Paul Brett's 6- and 12-string guitars. This final studio album from Paul Brett's Sage took on a more electric tone with Brett's wonderful guitar playing, additional electric guitar playing by Stuart Cowel of Titus Groan fame, and a solid supporting cast, a.o. Dave Lambert (Strawbs) on keys and great song selection, which still place this record above most of their contemporaries. The musicianship on this album is impeccable, the songwriting creative and engaging, and most of the songs combine tight guitar work with catchy rhythms. 'Custom Angel Man' and 'Slow Down Ma' are model examples of guitar oriented psych with strong vocals from Brett. Side 2 is more acoustically oriented, with 'Take Me Back And I Will Leave You' being the most progressive track. 'Tale Of A Rainy Night' and 'Autumn' are also fine predominantly unplugged tunes. The album comes with 4-sided insert with story, all lyrics, photos and other memorabilias. Bonus track 'Dahlia' is from an 7" in 1972. This is one of Long Hair's favorites. Don't miss this absolutely great album! Special "gimmix" gatefold sleeve.

BURNIN RED IVANHOE - BURNIN RED IVANHOE
Burnin Red Ivanhoe, in their most fertile phase of existing from 1969 till 1972, were one of Denmark's finest groups from this period. Their innovative and powerful mixture of psychedelic and progressive Rock along with mild experimental or jazz influences gained some international recognition in Germany, UK and the U.S. Comparisons might be drawn to Traffic, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd and Colosseum (Dag Erik Asbjornsen).
Their eponymous (2nd) album from 1970 was recorded in London with famous DJ John Peel and Tony Reeves (of Colosseum fame) as the producers. Six epic tracks, such as 'Rotating Irons' (8:25) and 'Secret Oyster' (9:45), both offering interesting and exciting interplay between sax and keyboard player Karsten Vogel, flautist, trombone and tenor sax player Kim Menzer
and extraordinary guitarist Ole Fick, driven by an absolute tight bass and drums rhythm section formed by Jess Staehr and Bo Thrige Anderson. Karsten Vogel's versatile songwriting (he composed 5 out of 6 tracks) dominates and he also had not forgotten to write enchanting "pop" songs either - 'Near The Sea' is a minor masterpiece of 4 minutes. The album comes with comprehensive linernotes by Karsten Vogel and rare photos on the insert. The music is warm and mildly remastered. Don't miss this top highlight of Danish progressive rock music. Burnin Red Ivanhoe, in their most fertile phase of existing from 1969 till 1972, were one of Denmark's finest groups from the period. 'W.W.W.' from 1971 was the band's 3rd album with an unchanged line-up. It was their most progressive offering with even more instrumental parts than before. Great soloing by brass player Vogel and Menzer duelling with guitarist Fick moves the music to the next higher level, a holy mass for all lovers of progressive music with slightly experimental or jazzy influences, all fantastic sounding! Highlights are '2nd Floor, Croydon' (8:25), title track 'W.W.W.' (6.05) and 'Oblong Serenade' (6:15). How the truly forward-looking album title was found tells Karsten Vogel in his notes. CHAMPIGNONS - PREMIERE CAPSULE
Repress on clear vinyl. Excellent mostly-instrumental combination of prog and psych served up by Champignons, a tight and experimental band from Québec. Released in 1972, 'Premiere Capsule', resplendent in its trippy day-glo mushroom sleeve, is a succession of seven guitar driven original compositions that manage to maintain any incredibly high standard from start to finish. All the tracks are superb, but several in particular stand out including the 11-minute experimental jam, 'Le Chateau Hante' (The Haunted Castle) and two instrumental numbers, 'Folies Du Mercredi' and 'Pop-Pino'. There is extremely good fuzz guitar throughout, as well as some exceptional flute solos courtesy of flautist Emile Naud. Hugely enjoyable and highly recommended

Though the title of the german band's sole full-length, 'Hardrock In Concert', may raise the impression that the band's style was rather mundane, the music in fact is rather creative, at times reminding of early UFO, Wishbone Ash, or May Blitz. CMU - SPACE CABARET
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1973 on Transatlantic Records.
CMU (stands for Contemporary Music Unit), were founded 1970 in Cambridge (UK) and recorded 2 albums ('Open Space', 1971 and 'Space Cabaret', 1973) before they called it a day late 1973. They were mixing various aspects of art-, westcoast-, jazz- and folkrock with psychedelic rock to really great impact! They combined female and male vocals, accoustic with electric guitars, early Caravan sounding fuzzed-out organ play and Mellotron as well as a Rhodes piano (keyboards all played by Leary Hasson from labelmates Marsupilami) and slightly spacey synthesizers. Titles 1-4 from the A-side of the album are part of a more than 17 minute suite, full of beautiful tunes, great vocals by Larraine Odell and Richard Joseph (guitarist and main composer), with Mellotrons, fuzzed out organ and guitar. 'Doctor Am I Normal', brings Jefferson Airplane westcoast style to mind closes Side A. Side B starts with the 10 minute long Ian Hamlett (guitar, flute) composition 'Dreams' with a catchy psychedelic intro (hypnotic monotonous rhythm, choir vocals) bringing 'Kanaan' from Amon Düül 2's 'Phallus Dei' to mind, female/male vocals until the guitar goes funky and the Rhodes arrive for some verses when the track floats away into a psychedelic dreamland, the guitar sounds a bit "Hendrix-ey" and in combination with the fuzzed-out organ develop a Jam-like play till 'Dreams' end. This is followed by another 10 minute highlight called 'Lightshine', a piano-written piece. After the intro follows a Moog interlude similar to ELP's 'Lucky Man' growing into a raga, where both singers present their verses over vast early Caravan-like soundscapes, dominated by Hasson's fuzzed out organ. Final and bonus track 'Heart Of The Sun', very westcoast sounding, is the A side of 1972 single, b/w 'Doctor, Am I Normal?'. CMU's 'Space Cabaret' is a highlight of Long Hair's catalogue! The album comes with insert containing bandstory, some rare photos, poster and lyrics. Don't miss this very extraordinairy and great album!

COMPLEX - COMPLEX (2LP)
This is the first official re-release on vinyl of Complex's first album as a 2 LP-set under licensed courtesy of Cherry Red Records Ltd, UK. The first eponymous album by Complex is among the most sought-after artefacts of British psychedelia. Only 99 copies of the album by this Blackpool-based band were pressed. Despite the fact the debut album was recorded in November 1970 it sounds like it's a straight out of the Summer of Love. They tear open the album with a fire-breathing combo organ lead; 'Funny Feeling' is a 3-part tune revealing two factors of the Complex sound - intelligent and endearing compositions filtered through fuzzy, raw energy. 'Green Eyed Lucy's vibrating bass guitar groove helps strike the balance between blues, soul, and unbridled teenage garage. Gratuitous guitar shredding on 'Witch's Spell' and "sensitive" boppers like 'Norwegian Butterfly,' seemingly written to get the lead singer, whose confident voice is a sweet surprise, some groupie action. 'Self Declaration' features an epic Iron Butterfly-esque prog-organ solo and has lot of fuzzy quitar. Then there's the favorite track - the unexpected, wildly out-of-place but somehow perfect 'Josie.' It's a surprise that this group of white suburban kids could pull off a convincing reggae dancehall number, but a joy to hear the squeaky combo organ bouncing along with the ragtag orchestra backing this weird little number. Further highlights are 'Witch's Smell' and 'Storm On Way' both notable for some punchy organ work and strong vocals. In January 1971, they departed for Craighall studios in Edinburgh, and over the course of the weekend, re-recorded two tracks from the LP, 'Norwegian Butterfly' and 'Images Blue' (both are as bonus title on the bonus album). Long Hair's issue of this lost gem comes with a full-time bonus album (all titles are for the first time released on vinyl), containing some new remastered and better sounding alternate takes and a great cover of 'Hush' (Joe South/Deep Purple) from a 7" acetate from 1970 and on Side 4 two long tracks (over 8 and 6 minutes long) from a 10" acetate from 1972. This is really great music. The album comes with new improved remastering, full band story and rare photos in a 4 sided cover sized insert sheet. Don't miss this special edition!

CORPORAL GANDER'S FIRE DOG BRIGADE - ON THE ROCKS
Reissued on vinyl, including the band story, this is a killer German exploitation hard-psych album from 1970, originally released by the Europa label, which - besides tons of mainstream cash-in albums - also put out acclaimed late '60s-early '70s LP's by a.o. Hell Preachers Inc., The Petards, John Deen & The Trakk and Electric Food. In this case we're dealing with the band that soon after would become popular as krautrockers Wind. If you fancy the idea of Wind's first LP 'Seasons' done in a more direct and hard hitting style, then you should get this reissue of 'On The Rocks' straight away!

CREEPY JOHN THOMAS - BROTHER BAT BONE
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of Cherry Red Records Ltd, UK, remastered from a master copy. In 1967 Australian John Thomas moved to Düsseldorf, got a record deal with EMI and recorded one of the era's great lost albums: Rust's 'Come With Me,' (Long Hair LHC281), followed by the eponymous 'Creepy John Thomas' album (LHC282), recorded in winter 1969 at the studio of legendary producer and sound engineer Conny Plank, who wanted to do another album with John. With John and Andy Marx now joined in the studio by Dave Hutchins and Roy Temro, 'Brother Bat Bone' continued in the same direction as the first Creepy John Thomas album with the band's leader still trippin' like a dog and rockin' like a bitch as he pursued a similar sleazy, dropped out psychedelic blues sound. Another Vietnam/acid burnout lament 'Down The Bottom' occupied the same soundscape as Lemmy's work with Sam Gopal, the title song was a sprawling nine minute acid blues blow - out while 'This Is My Body (You Know Me I'm Stoned All The Time)' was a wild fuzzed-out rocker. Possibly the album's high point though was another epic creation, 'Standing In The Sunshine,' pretty much a definitive acid comedown song. Further excerpts of reviews: Second album 'Brother Bat Bone' are 6 tracks full of heavy blues rock from of the highest shelf... forgotten British band playing heavy psychedelic/progressive rock with lots very juicy play guitars, cool vocals in the style of young Lemmy and a solid rhythm section - a complete success... These dudes can groove... Fave is 'This Is My Body,' which sounds a bit like Bob Dylan through a boogie Grand Funk filter... this album rocks along nicely... Rather irresistible progressive blues/boogie album. A totally inspired effort from start to finish (all killer/no filler) with emotionally strong, at times deeply moving vocals, tremendous axework and a loose, groovy rhythm section. Warmly recommended to Canned Heat or (early) Fleetwood Mac affectionados... Sounds at times like a mixture of Captain Beefheart and the Pink Fairies... The album comes with comprehensive insert sheet with bandstory, different covers and photos. Recommended!

Vinyl reissue of Dauner's famous release 'Rischka's Soul'! Recorded in November, 1969 and first released as a so called private pressing the recordings had a second release nearly three years later on famous German label Brain (1016, 1972). After The Nice hat split at the end of 1969, drummer Brian Davison founded his own band Every Which Way in spring 1970. They played a rather meditative and hypnotized sound with strong vocals and fine guitar and sax playing. DEAR MR. TIME - GRANDFATHER (FR)
This is an official reissue under courtesy of Cherry Red Records of this highly sought after album, originally released in February 1971 as Square Records 103 in the UK. The album is an obscure but genuinely impressive example of the British late psychedelic/early progressive rock sound, firmly in the same vein as the likes of the Moody Blues and early King Crimson slightly influenced by Procol Harum, contemporaries the band liked very much. Originally scheduled for December 1970 'Grandfather' was finally released in mid February 1971. Music Business Weekly said the band showed a great deal of originality and the highly influential Melody Maker wrote: "As album conceptions become more ambitious, so standards of judgement become harsher. This one makes it. It's an album to listen to. The ideas incorporated in the lyrics are imaginative. The music is carefully stitched into the fibre of the album. Although a large amount of instruments is used, there's nothing that's superficial. There are Moody Blues influences throughout including the stunning opening track 'Birth' that moves effortlessly into 'Out Of Time' - think 'On The Threshold Of A Dream' period. Another surprise is the periodic use of the "wall of saxes" that King Crimson, Van Der Graaf Generator and Jonesy used. The album consists of 11 parts - superb psych/prog, with excellent acoustic elements, great strings and flute, competent and pleasant vocal harmonies. 'A Prayer For Her' could easily have commercial success even now (I cannot understand why it didn't happen?), 'Your's Claudia' has interesting sound effects, while 'Years & Fortunes' and 'Grandfather' have strong flavour of medieval pieces, and 'Out Of Time' and 'Your Country Needs You?' are rather hard-edge about them. The album is an excellent addition to the collection of a conservative tuned music love of proto-progressive-psychedelic rock. The album comes with comprehensive bandstory, photos in a 4-sided cover-sized insert sheet. Don't miss this album. Secret tip!

DENNIS (GERMANY) - HYPERTHALAMUS
Repress! This is the first official reissue on vinyl of the ultra rare, legendary album 'Hyperthalamus' (originally from 1975) by Hamburg-based group Dennis. Dennis was a kind of session group including musicians from Frumpy, Tomorrow's Gift, Thirsty Moon and Xhol playing free-rock. Leading member was Frumpy drummer Carsten Bohn (the band was named after his son). 'Hyperthalamus' comes across as a collection of extracts from acid-jams and freak-outs. The style is a hybrid of progressive, psychedelic and cosmic styles, showcasing elements of late Tomorrow's Gift, Thirsty Moon, and even hints of Embryo and Guru Guru. It's a musical melting pot of surprising diversions and fusion sounds. Pressed in a limited edition, this reissue comes with liner notes unfloding the story of the band.

DZYAN - ELECTRIC SILENCE
Repress! Originally released in 1974 on famous German label Bacillus, Dzyan's third and final album, 'Electric Silence' is recognized for its daring world beat elements, and totally acidic album cover art. Dzyan refined their sound even further into improvisation and exotic sounds, mixed with weird experimentations and mysticism. 'Electric Silence' offers other-worldly music of incredible beauty and strangeness, influenced by the music of Asia but taking it into far more original realms. Multi-instrumentalists Marron and Karwatky experimented with sitar, saz, tambura, mellotron, synthesizers, bass-violin, and a mysterious invented instrument called "super-string", all merged in an extreme melting pot of styles, ideas and fertile imagination, interacting into a "psychedelic worldgroove"; while Giger, bursting with creative power and virtuosity, holds it together with his fantastic drumming. From the weird opium-den trance soundtrack of 'Khali' to the more funky 'For Earthly Thinking,' to the even wilder tracks like 'The Road Not Taken,' Dzyan crafted one of the finest and most unique works of the krautrock era. 'Electric Silence,' an amazing work on its own, rhythmically adventurous and unique jazzprog, is indeed one of the landmarks in experimental rock, a masterpiece. A highlight in German rock history. Don't miss this vinyl reissue transferred from original mastertape with 4 pages insert, band history, unseen photos et. al.

DZYAN - MANDALA
Dzyan recorded 3 albums between 1972 and 1974. Each album they released was quiet different. After the release of the first album the line-up changed and Eddy Marron was the new guitarist. The SWF-session reminds a lot to their first album. Dzyan played a slightly jazzy form of progressive rock with flashes of Zappas Hot Rats and even some VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR saxophone- fronted diversions. These radio studio recordings are even more rock oriented then the first album recordings. There are five titles. 4 new compositions and a longer (11:00 minutes) and different version of probably the best title from the first album "Dragon Song". Steels Electric/Daddy Groove is a 15 minutes suite, very inventive and with great guitar playing by Eddy Marron. ZAZ has a great ethnic feel produced by fine Zaz (Turkish stringed instrument) also played by Eddy Marron and oriented rock rhythm patterns. Finally "Resurrection" was part of a one hour suite, Dzyan sadly never recorded. This recordings are among the best ever recordings at the SWF session studio.
Remastered from the original master tape. Fine booklet (vinyl version has an insert) with a cover painting by Helmut Wenske (never used before on a cover), band story, photos

EAT LIGHTS BECOME LIGHTS - THE ROMANCE OF THE STARS
Held up by the mammoth waiting times on new vinyl, Polytechnic Youth return to the fray here with an absolute beauty. The label is stoked to present the first new Eat Lights Become Lights full length in almost five years, and 'The Romance Of The Stars' is an incredible record, and more than worth the wait. We'd be amazed if there is a more starkly beautiful record released this year - an absolute stripped down, minimal masterpiece recalling nods to Eno, Cluster, Popol Vuh and Steve Reich amongst others. Richly rewarding and beautiful, it's Neil ELBLs' "classical" record in many ways - stripped right down from his trademark, layered Neu! homages and driving motorik grooves, longterm devotees may at first be taken aback, but the albums' absorbing, meditative grooves are utterly intoxicating, and all parties here, agree that it is his finest offering thus far. EULENSPYGEL - AUSSCHUSS
Comes in original repro "Wellpappe cover" (corrugated board cover). The record company came up with the idea to have the second album recorded in the Apple Studios In London, instead of in a crummy German studio. At the beginning of April 1972 Eulenspygel went to London by train with their string instruments to start the recordings. Intercord had booked the band for only five days in the studio: for the German and English ('Trash' on Long Hair LHC 277) versions of the album. 'Abfall,' the 22 minutes sole track on side 1 is a long suite which is really a rock opera Of sorts about orphans. A haunting intro with mellotron as spoken German words join in. The music kicks in around 2 minutes. The vocals before 3 1/2 minutes as it settles some flute too. It turns experimental as the vocals stop. The atmosphere stops before 9 minutes as strummed guitar takes over followed by flute then vocals 10 1/2 minutes in and some heavy organ before 12 1/2 minutes with electric guitar, drums and a full sound. It then picks up with vocals including some chunky bass. It settles back 16 1/2 minutes in with floating organ and almost spoken vocals. It's building and the vocals sound so good here, very powerful and opera-like. It settles again after 19 minutes with organ and a beat as the mellotron joins in. An incredible track! Track one on side 2, 'Menschenmacher,' is very much a riff-driven track and pretty straightforward. Vocals are the focus as the organ, drums and guitar help out. The organ solo followed by the guitar solo later on, great stuff. 'Teufelskreis' is a cool sounding tune with the vocals sounding more laid back as the drums and acoustic guitar offer up some energy. A sitar before 6 1/2 minutes to the end. 'Herzliches Beileid' has a beat as reserved and melancholic vocals join in. The organ replaces the vocals, but they switch back again after 2 minutes. 'Der Fremde' opens with organ as the guitar joins in. It kicks in hard around a minute then settles back with vocals. Spoken words come in after 4 minutes and then it all picks up again. 'Untertanenfabrik' has a good heavy intro and the vocals come and go. Mellotron before 2 minutes as we get this haunting mood taking over. Guitar before 3 minutes then organ. Vocals are back late; this is a masterpiece of a krautrock album. The instrumentation on this album is vast as well with some sitar, lots of mellotron, violin, flute and hand percussion. According to the liner notes, during this recording they borrowed Rod Argent's keyboards (who was in Abbey Road Studios at the same time)... this also explains the heavy and wonderful keyboard work on this album. This is clever ever-changing '70s vintage krautrock which we guarantee will make you smile! This might be just simply one of the best krautrock albums you have ever heard. The album comes with exact reproduction (!) of original cover sleeve with 4-sided cover sized insert sheet. Remastered.

EULENSPYGEL - TRASH
Comes in original repro "Wellpappe cover" (corrugated board cover). This is a real sensation! Eulenspygel's English version of 'Ausschuss' was intended for release by Intercord in 1972, but never went beyond the status of an 8-track that had been produced for the American market. 'Trash', the title of the English version of 'Ausschuss', contains partly different mixes, consequently English vocals and was partly recorded with the help of English musicians. The recordings took place from 4.4.-8.4.1972 at the famous Apple Studios in London. The band enlisted the help of a bass player who had just worked in the studio for Ringo Starr or Rod Argent, and whose professionalism saved further takes during the recording. 'Trash' is the side long suite which is really a rock opera of sorts about orphans. It starts with a haunting intro with mellotron as spoken words join in. The music kicks in around 2 minutes followed by emotional and powerful vocals and flute. The atmosphere stops before 9 minutes as strummed guitar takes over followed again by flute and some heavy organ before 12 1/2 minutes with electric guitar, drums and a full sound. It then picks up with vocals including some chunky bass. It settles back 16 1/2 minutes in with floating organ and almost spoken vocals. Very powerful and opera-like. It settles again after 19 minutes with organ and a beat as the mellotron joins in. Incredible track! 'Mindscraper' is pretty straighforward. Vocals are the focus as the organ, drums and guitar help out. A great organ solo followed by the guitar solo later on. 'Vicious Circle' is a cool sounding tune with the vocals sounding more laid back as the drums and acoustic guitar offer up some energy. Sitar before 6 1/2 minutes to the end. 'Annoying' has a beat as reserved vocals join in. Very emotionally! The organ replaces the vocals but they switch back again after 2 minutes. 'Stranger' opens with organ as the guitar joins in. It kicks in hard around a minute then settles back with vocals. Excellent. Spoken words after 4 minutes then it all picks up again. 'Battery Farm' has a good heavy intro. Mellotron before 2 minutes as we get this haunting mood taking over. Guitar before 3 minutes then organ. Vocals are back late. The instrumentation on this album is as vast as well with some sitar, lots of mellotron, violin, flute and hand percussison. This is clever ever-changing '70s vintage krautrock which will make you smile! This might be just simply one of the best krautrock albums you have ever heard. FANATISM - THE FUTURE PAST
Repress of 250 copies on red with black splatter vinyl. 'The Future Past' is the debut album by Fanatism, an offshoot of the superb Kungens Man. You will meet Fanatism somewhere on the crossroads between Stooges Street, Can Road and Morricone Avenue. "The variety contained within makes it a real smorgasbord of delights... the way it trips from motorik based krautrock to more pastoral psych and finishing with some retro synth sounds is truly wonderful and goes to make this an album of many dimensions... a trait that is sadly missing in so much music these days." ~Dayz Of Purple & Orange.

FELLOWSHIP OF HALLUCINATORY VOYAGERS - THE IMAGINARY GALLERY (FOREST GREEN)
"It's been a very challenging nine months for most musicians, I've really missed the collaborations of working face to face with people, the adrenaline and creative rushes that they bring to our lives. At one point I was seriously considering the potential of learning morse code with my eyebrows as a new way of communicating with masks on! Pushing through the barriers of isolation is what music does and this project in particular has certainly engaged my brain cells. The premise was simple, I gave five pieces of music to the painter Rhiannon Jones, she listened to them and immersed herself in the music while she painted five oil paintings. Then the process was reversed and she sent me five paintings to write music too. You may have noticed there are eleven paintings and eleven tracks, a great example of the fact that nothing ever quite works out the way you thought it would." ~Pete Bingham. FIELDS - FIELDS
This is an official reissue on vinyl under courtesy of Cherry Red Records of this highly sought after prog album, originally released in 1971 on CBS, UK. Fields was an English progressive rock trio formed in 1971 by drummer Andrew McCulloch, keyboardist Graham Field, and bassist, guitarist-vocalist Alan Barry. McCulloch had previously been a member of King Crimson, appearing on the band's third album 'Lizard.' Field founded Rare Bird (and composed their worldwide hit number 'Sympathy') and Barry played with the Giles brothers Peter and Michael who would eventually become members of King Crimson. This is a very clean and clever production. It has some very nice melodic qualities about it. Fat and playful organ, wonderful vocals, dynamic bass and the drummer McCullogh is all over the place.
The album opens in fine booming and bombastic style with 'A Friend Of Mine,' a rollicking song driven by the sound of the powerful Hammond organ. The song has something of a baroque feel to it, with the organist throwing in a few classically inspired fugues for good measure. Onwards now to 'While The Sun Shines,' an uplifting number which you can feel free to enjoy while walking through Fields of golden barley in the warm sunshine. 'Not So Good' is next, but it IS good! It's an emotionally appealing song designed to pull on the heartstrings. 'Three Minstrels' is folk with a rockin' attitude. 'Slow Susan' is next, and slow it is, but in a good way. It's always good to slot in a slow number every now and again in the middle of a rocking and rolling album. The organ soloist is in church fugue mode as he takes us on an inspirational journey in this lovely instrumental number. It's enough to make an atheist get all religious. Side two opens with 'Over And Over Again,' a rollicking song with its powerful throbbing rhythm. It's another keyboard-driven ELP-style number, but without the stage antics and keyboard histrionics. It's just a good solid slice of heavy British rock. There's a change of pace now with 'Feeling Free,' a rousing and uplifting song full of joy and happiness, just as the song title implies. Next up is 'Fair-Haired Lady,' a mournful but beautifully romantic ballad with the silver-toned singer pouring his heart out. It's a song which Uriah Heep might have recorded in one of their quieter reflective moments. Onto the penultimate song on the album, 'A Place To Lay My Head,' a nice solid slice of bluesy and soulful British rock. Highlight of the album is last title, 'The Eagle.' The organist displays his classical credentials in fine style here with what sounds like a Bach cantata, before embarking on an impressive display of keyboard dexterity on the organ and then bringing the album to a close with a soothing and sophisticated piano piece. A beautiful piece of music to put the icing on the cake of a great album with the sound of powerful, organ-driven, heavy British rock. These are Fields of Gold! The album comes with 4-sided insert sheet, story, lyrics and photos. Remastered. Don't miss it!

FUCHSIA - FUCHSIA
Originally released in 1971, the Fuchsia album is one of the best examples of British progressive and psychedelic folk-rock, full on inventive arrangements and songwriting. Here's a long overdue vinyl reissue. Fuchsia was formed by a group of Exeter University students. They were Tony Durant (previously of psych band Louise) on acoustic/electric guitars and vocals; Michael Day on bass and Michael Gregory on drums plus the three-piece classical ensemble of Vanessa Hall-Smith (violin, backing vocals); Janet Rogers (violin, backing vocals) and Madeleine Bland (cello, piano, harmonium, backing vocals). Signed to Pegasus Records (the "progressive" branch of B&C Records), Fuchsia recorded their self-titled album at Sound Techniques studio with producer David Hitchcock (Caravan, Mellow Candle, Genesis, Camel...) The main inspiration for the album was Tony Durant's readings of Mervyn Peake's gothic novels such as 'Titus Groan' and its fictional character Lady Fuchsia Groan.
Like some of their contemporaries (Comus, Mellow Candle...) Fuchsia only started gaining recognition in the following decades, thanks to fans of obscure psychedelic folk. Today, Tony Durant leads a new version of Fuchsia, still playing and recording. Newly remastered sound. Original artwork in hard cardboard sleeve. Insert with liner notes and rare photos/memorabilia. Repro of the rare promo insert. "Recommended to fans of bands like Spirogyra and String Driven Thing" ~Aaron Milenski (Galactic Ramble).

GEBARVATERLI - IM TAL DER EMMEN
This is the first official reissue of this extremely rare album, originally released in 1978 on the Brutkasten label. A very varied fusion album, 'Im Tal Der Emmen' blends Embryo and Zappa/Mothers like rock and jazz mixtures, with a rich instrumental palette, full of solos and invention. Mostly it intended to sound like an instrumental Out Of Focus (Freeman Brothers in 'The Crack In The Cosmic Egg'). The album has this charming kraut/fusion style. The sextet line-up resulted in a very rich sound with technical drumming, smooth instrumental interactions and loose executions on flute, guitars and organ, not to mention the scratching sax soloing of Mandi Riedelbauch (who also played on Marsupilami's 'Arena' album from 1971). Moreover there are slight psychedelic underlines over a jazzy attitude, typical of the kraut rock stylings, featuring steady but frenetic rhythmic parts over extended instrumental solos. The band had however a good sense of melody to support their jazzy style with melodic trombones and some delicate flute lines in the more mellow segments. Every track in here seems to have its own hero, no matter if it's the keyboardist, the flutist or the sax player. They do remind of classic acts such as Kraan and Embryo pretty often with a touch of Supersister in the furious interplays. Interesting and at moments fascinating kraut fusion with decent interplays and plenty of well-performed solos. Recommended both to krautrock and jazz/fusion fans (Apps79, Progarchives reviewer). The LP comes with 6-sided cover sized insert sheet with bandstory, many photos and other memorabilia.

GENRICH, AX - HIGHDELBERG 1975
This is an official release in cooperation with Ax Genrich. Ax Genrich joined Guru Guru in 1970 as the extraordinary guitarist on their first five albums. One can't overstate Ax Genrich's talent, as one of the most phenomenal and unique German guitarists (Freeman Brothers in 'The Crack In The Cosmic Egg'). The music on his first solo album 'Highdelberg' comes from recording sessions with Conny Plank at the controls and the music was done by friends stopping by to jam. With the likes of Mani Neumeier, Cluster, and 3/4ths (Hattler, Wolbrandt, Fride) of Kraan by his side, Genrich made his first recordings since leaving Guru Guru in 1973. The standout track, 'Kosmische Phyrze' is a 8-minute dreamy instrumental containing guitar-based rock and electronic sound effects supplied by Cluster resulting in a very original sound. 'Saure Drops Und Suesser Wein' contains a goofy rock sound which can be compared to Guru Guru's self-titled 1973 LP. This "supersession project" was very much in parallel to Mani Neumeier's 'Mani Und Seine Freunde' album. The album offers various musical styles in the Ax Genrich vein: rather psychedelic, slightly jazzy and bluesy played with a lot of fun and energy. This officially released vinyl version comes with cover sized insert sheet containing liner notes by Ax himself, photos from his archive and with a newly remastering by Rocking Riesling Productions. Don't miss this legendary album!

GIFT (GER/KRAUT) - BLUE APPLE
This is the first official vinyl reissue of Gift's second LP 'Blue Apple', originally from 1974. For these sessions Gift added a keyboard player and a second guitarist. Still hard rocking, the music had become a lot more progressive, featuring wonderful guitar riffs and brilliant keyboard playing. The album is not your typical Krautrock offer, but rather British hard rock oriented with a typical German feel. The insert includes rare photos and the band story as told by guitarist Rainer Bauer. GINHOUSE - GINHOUSE
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1971 on B & C records (UK) and on Philips (Germany). Hailing from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Ginhouse were a short lived progressive rock trio featuring Geoff Sharkey (lead guitar & vocals), Stewart Burlinson (bass guitar & vocals) and Dave Whittaker (drums). This power trio played a highly imaginative and powerful form of rock. The band recorded their only album at Abbey Road studios with producer Anders Henriksson (also producer of the legendary Quatermass). On several tracks the keyboard parts played by producer Anders Henriksson push the music of Ginhouse towards a musical style strongly related to 'In The Court Of The Crimson King' (1969), the debut album by King Crimson. The combination of the lead vocals, which occasionally sound like the voice of Greg Lake, the acoustic guitar, organ and Mellotron flutes reminded one of several tracks from that album. Ginhouse were also influenced by the music of The Beatles which can be heard throughout the album. The resulting record featured excellent original compositions such as 'Tyne God,' 'The Journey,' 'The House' and 'Sun In A Bottle,' along with a highly effective reworking of The Beatles' 'And I Love Her.' The overall sound is clearly dominated by the electric guitars. There are slightly elements from psychedelic rock and folk music. If you like guitar driven progressive rock mixed with some hard rock and minor psychedelic elements you might wanna give a try to Ginhouse's lone LP. Another critic describes similarities to Jethro Tull (flute), May Blitz or T2. The guitars, depending on the arrangement, were either heavy or light sounding, both electric and acoustic. Sharkey could play fast when called for, but also used acoustic guitar to good effect. You'll also hear occasional judicious use of strings ('Portrait Picture') and flute ('Fair Stood The Wind') mixed in among some songs, which help flesh out the music. The vocals are right out of the '70s British scene, nothing truly outstanding but (along with the lyrics), were a good example of progressive rock of the period. Disbanding soon after the release of their only album, the music of Ginhouse is now highly sought after by collectors of early '70s progressive rock. This a fantastic album of old school rock of the early 1970's. There's not a bad track on the album. Shame they only made this masterpiece. Everyone should have a copy. The album comes with original gimmick cover gatefold sleeve with a 4-paged insert sheet with bandhistory and photos. Remastered.

GODS & PUNKS - DEATH (BLACK)
Formed in the tropical city of Rio de Janeiro in 2013, Gods & Punks emerged as a beacon of sonic exploration, blending the heavy riffage of Black Sabbath with the intricate melodies of Rush. Founded by brothers Alexandre and Pedro Canhetti, their journey began with a shared passion for the cosmic resonance of stoner rock. Inspired by a Monster Magnet song, the band's name became a testament to their love of psychedelic music.
'Death' is a cathartic journey through frontman Alexandre's harrowing near-death experience in 2021. Recorded across continents between Santos and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Paris, France, 'Death' is a testament to the band's resilience and artistic evolution. 'Death' tells a narrative woven through seven tracks, spanning 40 minutes of intense musical exploration.

GRAVESTONE - DOOMSDAY
This is an official reissue on vinyl supported by the bandmembers Wolfgang Rittner (lead guitar) and Rudi Dorner (rhythm guitar). The recordings took place in February 1979 at the AVC Studio in their hometown in the Munich area. All songs were written by Wolfgang Rittner. Bonus track 'Flying' (originally by UFO) was also recorded during the sessions for the album and newly remastered for this issue. Gravestone is perhaps best known for their '80s heavy metal albums, but the band started as a psychedelic krautrock group. The line-up faced lots of changes in the '80s compared to their earlier years. 'Doomsday' was their only album released in the '70s and it includes a mostly instrumental jam band-oriented style. It sounds like a mid-'70s doomy-krautrock, heavy and sinister album. We will recommend it for real proto-doom fans and fans of classic krautrock with psychedelic hints - both will be satisfied well. All titles do their job very well. Featuring some fine guitar playing by Wolfgang Rittner, the band reminds of early UFO, with that space rockin' vibe. Check out the instrumental 'Live In The Coffin' and the fantastic 'Corrine.' A clue to the band's roots is found in the bonus track, a version of the song section from UFO's classic opus 'Flying.' 'Doomsday' is a very solid krautrock disc which is also damn rare as the original pressing. The album comes in an exact reproduction of the original cover sleeve and includes a 4-sided cover sized insert sheet with bandstory and a lot of photos.

HAIRY CHAPTER - EYES
Formed late 1968 in Bonn, West Germany, Hairy Chapter intended to create a kind of white blues, playing own material with a permanent rock feeling, influenced by John Mayall, Cream and Jimi Hendrix but spiced up with its own ingredients. According to the band not only the Bonn music scene was enthusiastic about the band, but also a certain young Dieter Dierks was impressed and offered the band to record their first album in his new little studio, a former pigsty in Cologne-Stommeln, a rural setting north of Cologne, Germany. Their first album 'Eyes' was released in 1969. The album's release was accompanied by a professional promotion campaign. Every popular German radio station but also BFBS British Forces Broadcasting Service, located in Cologne, featured the album with great success and gave the band the opportunity to play 2 songs live in the studio, featured for the first time as bonus tracks on this reissue. 'Bad Dreams' started the album, a kind of standard blues-rock structure with pedestrian guitar from guitarist Titlbach and a haphazard harmonica solo. Imagine a Teutonic, second string Black Sabbath and you'd know what to expect on the first two thirds of this one. The last third of the track lead into a much tougher song, complete with a blazing Titlbach solo and some funky studio effects at the tail end. 'Pretty Talking Girl' was an unexpected ballad. Surprisingly pretty, the only complaint was that clocking in at under 90 seconds the song ended before it really got going. 'Pauline' kicked along by a funky! Oldenburg bass line and some of Titlbach's best playing, 'Pauline' was one of the album's highpoints. Yeah the song briefly lost its course midway through, but stumbled back home for the second half. 'Illusions' closed side one with a striking rocker. A fantastic laidback number with Unte holding back some of his normal aggressive vocal power to deliver a surprisingly sensitive performance. This one had another nice Oldenburg bass line and chiming Titlbach lead guitar. The only complaint here was that the song closed out as a standard blues-rock jam complete with hideous harmonica solo. Side two starts with 'Looking For A Decent Freedom' and found the band branching off in a more psych direction. The overall feel was still heavy metal with a nice guitar hook, but Unte's screaming vocals were treated to give the song kind of lysergic feel. With its pounding opening 'Cry For Relief' instantly attracted my attention, but about 20 second in the track abruptly switched tempo becoming a Doors-styled blues-rocker. I will tell you that Titlbach turned in one hell of a wah-wah solo on this one. Another atypical number 'Thought After' offered up an pretty 90 second acoustic ballad. Would have been one of the better tracks if they'd bothered to extend the length. 'Life 69' was a relatively funky blues workout with multi-tracked vocals. It was also one of the few tracks to showcase drummer Haubold. 'Big Fat Woman Blues' is a blues-rocker that showcases Rudolf Oldenburg's bass work. Just after the release of the second album 'Can't Get Through' in the middle of 1971, the group called it a day. 'Eyes' is an early classic of German independent underground music. A real monster of sound. A must have for your collection. The album was remastered and comes with 2 bonus tracks recorded live at BFBS Radio Studio Cologne in 1969, reissued for the first time. There is also a 4-sided cover sized insert sheet with story and many photos. Don't miss it!

HAWK - AFRICAN DAY (BLACK)
"It's dark and still in the chief's village protected by mountains of the great southern regions of Africa..." so begins the seventeen minute epic 'African Day' that kicks off the greatest Afro-psychedelic concept album ever made - first released on Parlophone in 1971. Hawk's music on this epochal album is a fusion of tribal African rhythms with acoustic hippie music elements - long solo jams, saxophone breaks, percussion - sounding at times like an African version of Embryo fronted by Tim Buckley! In Johannesburg, bursting, like Durban, with musicians aeons ahead of their time, Hawk added the sunburnt, brown prairies of Africa to the genre of the concept album - the heady, steady beat of drums, and enough cross-rhythms to make you dizzy. Add the mesmerizing voices - and the telling of a story. Tuck in the ranging flute, the saxophone. The deep bass buzz. And the hypnotic talking drums. Music the African way: earthy stuff - virile, extraordinary, substantial. Hawk were listening to a lot of Hugh Tracey tapes (the Afro-musicologist who travelled Africa capturing sounds and music on tape for posterity). They went to Swaziland and came back with their own sounds: drums and a burning desire to make their own brand of African music. From all of this came 'African Day.' The Lion/RTA reissue comes with an LP-sized 12-page booklet which includes a complete band history by music writer Owen Coetzer, packed with photos, plus the story of the re-discovery of the multi-track master tapes and the transfer of those newfound tapes that resulted in this very reissue.
The Return To Analog edition is limited to 500 copies on black vinyl.

HECKSTALL-SMITH, DICK - A STORY ENDED
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG, originally released in 1972 on Bronze Records. Co-founder of Colosseum in 1968 with Jon Hiseman, he knew from his Jazz Club years as drummer for Georgie Fame, Dick ran through this group's hectic recording and touring schedule for over 3 years until November 1971, when it disbanded. In his late 30s at that time, on top of his musical shape, he moved on to start recording on his first solo project, with material left over from Colosseum days (written by D. H.-S., Clem Clempson and Jon Hisemann) and new material jointly composed with well known lyricist Pete Brown. He recruited the help of Colosseum mates, Hiseman, keyboardist Dave Greenslade and vocalist/bass player Mark Clarke, plus the brilliant ex-Elton John group Caleb Quaye (Hookfoot) on guitars and Rob Tait (ARC, Battered Ornaments) on drums; old pal G. Bond is featured providing remarkable moog work on 'Pirate's Dream', funky organ on 'Moses In The Bullrushourses' and sharing piano duties with Gordon Beck (G.B. Trio, Nucleus) on 'What The Morning Was After'; Paul Williams (Juicy Lucy) gets the lion share of vocal duties, and Chris Farlowe and Chris Spedding (Nucleus, Battered Ornaments) have respectively a sole vocal and a guitar spot on 'Pirate's Dream'. The album track by track: Side one starts with 'Future Song', the track that really rises above the other tracks here. The guitar, vocals (by Mark Carke) and sax are great on this one. Killer sax 2 minutes during an excellent instrumental interlude. H.-S. sounds slightly eastern-influenced on his outstanding sax lines. Such an uplifting track with it's repetitive riff and hard, driving sound! Next is 'Crabs', starting off in a mellow way with Greenslade's piano and reserved vocals as the sax joins in followed by guitar and drums as it builds. Irresistable! Great vocals by Paul Williams. One could easily imagine both tracks on a Colosseum album. 'Moses In The Bullrushourses' is uptempo, owing just as much to jazz, blues and hard rock. Great groove! Lots of organ here to send shivers down your spine and perfect guitar playing. 'What The Morning Was After' opens with some sax excursions as the drums help out. Acoustic guitar by Quaye and powerful vocals by Paul Williams take over as the piano joins in. Our second favourite tune on here after the opener. A folky song really until it picks up half-way through. Side 2 opens with the 11 minutes 'Pirate's Dream', with Farlowe on vocals and Spedding's initial rock blues riff, but soon evolving to a complex multi parted composition in the best spirit of Valentyne Suite, driven by Hiseman multi faceted drumming. D. H.-S. twin saxes soar on a calmer mid section with Spedding doubling the licks and the bass grumbling relentlessly behind; it slowly gains speed with moog, sax and vocalizations duelling and answering each others with dazzling, demanding and inspired phrasings on top a thundering rhythm section; after the lyrics resume it evolves into a majestic, grandiose finale. A bluesy clean guitar lick opens 'Same Old Thing', a swinging, calm heavily modulated twisted blues, with a punchy rhythm section, a soulful Williams on vocal, Quaye delivering an inspired sparkling solo and D. H.-S.'s sensitive fat sax enhanced with some double tracking on the solo part. A great ending to a great album. Album comes with the reproduction of original gatefold cover sleeve, additional coversized insert with bandstory, lyrics and photos. A highlight! Highly recommended!

HOPITAL DE LA CONCEPTION - THE ELECTRIC ROCKIN' CHAIR
2019 release. Vinyl edition of this enigmatic artefact: Hôpital De La Conception's 'The Electric Rockin' Chair', presenting primitive electric guitar fury. The band has seemingly arranged it all well in order to maintain an aura of mystery and ensure to conceal the members' identity. The recording offers two massive instrumental pieces like resonant monoliths, fully urban and in (most likely) unusual open chord tuning. Besides, a haunting sporadic singing is found interspersed in the flow, it arises in sudden bursts and in an unexpected way like to summon the spirit of a forgotten protest.

JAHN, LOTHAR - DREAMS OF 75 (BLACK)
Lothar Jahn's 'February '75' single was released by the German label Sound Records in 1977. It was a very unusual record, somewhere between psychedelic, folk and krautrock. It was reviewed thus on Discogs: "A mysterious journey through cosmic psych folk kraut, whatever you may call it. Fantastic, from beginning to end. Another kraut on 45 milestone." This newly recorded album, 'Dreams Of 75,' is an extended riff on the original single, taking that smaller vision as a starting point and then launching into a weirder and wilder psychedelic/progressive stereoscopic headspace than was evident (or possible) on the original single. So, who is Lothar Jahn? He is a singer/songwriter, presenter and multi-instrumentalist who has been active in the German music scene since the early 1970s. Since 2020, Jahn has his own television show, Lothar's Liedertreff. And what were Jahn's dreams of '75? "They were wistful dreams of boundless love, community and peace, boundless sex, boundless freedom and a lot of wonderful music. What better time to grow up than back then, in the middle of works like Oldfield's 'Ommadawn' and Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here'? says Jahn. RTA edition on black vinyl.

JEREMY & THE SATYRS - JEREMY & THE SATYRS
Originally released in 1968, and now for the first time on vinyl, this classic psychedelic/blues rock/jazzrock album is a real gem. This is a gorgeous mix of wonderful trippy psychedelic rock on opener 'World Of Glass Teardrops' and jazz and blues rock featuring extensive use of flute by frontman and bandleader Jeremy Steig, along with Warren Bernhardt (keyboards), drummer Donald MacDonald (who played on the legendary Sabicas - 'Rock Encounter With Joe Beck' album), extraordinary guitarist Adrian Guillery and famous Eddie Gomez on bass. In 1966 The Satyrs were formed as backing band for folksinger Tim Hardin. Jeremy & The Satyrs were one of the first jazz fusion ensembles that recorded on Reprise Records in 1968, USA. Remastered from the archive tapes, the sound is brillant. Comes with Jeremy Steig bio. Don't miss this legendary album. Limited edition.

JONESY (UK) - KEEPING UP (FR)
This is the official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG, originally released in 1972 on Transatlantic progressive rock label Dawn. Jonesy were an early 70's progressive rock outfit whose albums were reputedly delicate, melodic affairs, somewhat similar to King Crimson and with a lot of mellotrons V.Joynson, Tapestry of Delights). They recorded three albums on the Dawn Label "No Alternative", "Keeping Up" and "Growing" (all now newly reissued on vinyl by Long Hair). All are strong with the aforementioned KING CRIMSON influences. The music is very British sounding and holds similarities to other bands of the day, apart from King Crimson to name a few Tonton Mocoute, Ben, Spring and others in that field. The really heavy use of mellotron gives the music that particular sound of early prog. Just like Spring, Jonesy makes emotive prog which is both epic and melodious. All three album are great stuff! The first few pieces on KEEPING UP with the dominant Mellotron, the well-crafted vocals, the smooth string/piano lines and the mix of calm and more passionate material showcase why Jonesy were fairly compared to KING CRIMSON and Spring. Discreet psychedelic touches, jazzy guitar and trumpets and symphonic Mellotron offer a consistent blend of different influences. There are hard rock passages on here as well but the overall complexity and diversity is more to the fore, making "Keeping up" a much more entertaining affair. The mellotron is also augmented by brass and strings this time around, which also adds to the emotive side of the music. From the opening "Masquerade", to the ever so beautiful and emotive "Sunset and evening star" and onward "Keeping up" is filled with great music. Inventive, bustling with ideas and visions. The jewel in the crown is the last track, the most epic and perfect realized "Children". The presence of brass, stabbing and hitting with extreme precision, and the lyrics in conjunction with the shifting sections of music means that this track is one of almost perfect progressive pedigree. For some critic "Keeping up" is Jonesy's best album and some critic once wrote that Jonesy was the best progressive band you've never heard and that is true enough. Their music, especially on "Keeping up", is just as great as other bands of the era and anyone with an interest in the origins of prog would do well to listen to them. Albums comes with comprehensive bandstory. All tracks are remastered. Don`t miss this high quality album! Limited edition!

JONESY (UK) - NO ALTERNATIVE
This is the official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG,
originally released in 1972 on Transatlantic progressive rock label Dawn. The really heavy use of mellotron gives the music that particular sound of early prog. Just like Spring, Jonesy makes emotive prog which is both epic and melodious. All three album are great stuff! The interplay between the mellotron and fuzzed out and sometimes screaming guitar is excellent and bridges the early progressive rock with the early type of hard rock, making it heavy and complex. While the album generally is very much on the hard rock side of things, there are mellow exceptions such as the gorgous "Heaven" and "Pollution". These are epic, long tracks with beautiful mellotron and very emotive soundscapes. The track "Ricochet", also released as a single (B-side is bonustrack), is a tremendous rockin` track. Really rough, crude and blessed with wah-wah guitar. No Alternative is an excellent diversified debut you want to hear again and again! It`s a fine slice of strangely- undervalued prog from a finely-tuned British outfit. Albums comes with 2 bonus tracks and comprehensive band story. All tracks are remastered. Don`t miss this high quality album! Limited Edition!

JUICY LUCY - GET A WHIFF A THIS
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1971 on Bronze. 'Get A Whiff A This' itself was very much the son of its predecessor 'Lie Back And Enjoy It', but looking out towards more unexpected pastures. The funky 'Big Lil' and the blistering anti-war anthem 'Midnight Sun' were both strong inclusions, while a take on the Allmans' 'Midnight Rider' remains one of that particular anthem's most dynamic revisions. 'Get A Whiff A This' track listing: Side 1: 1. 'Mr. Skin': Williams' growling voice sounds quite good on the rocking melody. The melody and general vibes are quite similar to the Spirit original. 2. 'Midnight Sun': Boogie with interesting anti-war lyrics, some nice Mick Moody acoustic slide guitar and Paul Williams seldom having sounded as authentic. Great. 3. 'Midnight Rider': Yeah, again a cover, but give them credit for having good taste in their outside material - in this case one of the best Allman Brothers tunes ever written. 4. 'Harvest': Paul Williams basically taking his way through the bland swamp-rock flavored tune. At least Mick Moody got a chance to strut his stuff on this one. A highlight. 5. 'Mr. A. Jones': Pretty acoustic country-folk number. Side 2: 1. 'Sunday Morning': Country flavored ballad that gave Glenn Ross Campbell another opportunity to shine. 2. 'Big Lil': Opening up with a funky little Moody riff, followed by some tasty slide guitar, 'Big Lil' was the album's best performance. The song reflected some energy and Williams deserved some kudos for turning in his best Greg Allman impression. Another highlight 3. 'Jessica': No, it wasn't another Allman Brothers cover... rather 'Jessica' was a country-tinged rocker that showcased Glenn Campbell's slide guitar moves. 4. 'Future Days': Blend country-rock. Based on Williams' growling southern twang, you would be hard pressed to identify them as being English. The album is a great piece of funky bluesrock, with a perfect balanced sound - such a deep and clear bass, a lot of great guitar playing by Moody and Campbell and of course the damn cool vocals by great singer Paul Williams. The album was remastered and contains a 4 page insert with band story. Don't miss this great album.

JUICY LUCY - LIE BACK AND ENJOY IT
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Juicy Lucy's second album 'Lie Back And Enjoy It' was released in 1970 on Vertigo. Although several members of the band had been replaced since the release of their famous first album, it was generally considered to be a respectable follow up to their eponymous debut album of the previous year. The bulk of the songs were written by the band, although the album does feature the addition of Willie Dixon's classic 'Built For Comfort' and a terrific cover of the Frank Zappa song 'Willie The Pimp'. The album peaked at number 53 in the UK Albums Chart in November 1970. If Juicy Lucy's debut album ranks among the most haunted blues-rock albums of the late 1960s, its follow-up illustrates more of the evil electrics and swamp-conscious blues that gave Juicy Lucy its most scintillating shivers. The interplay between Glenn Ross Campbell's steel and Chris Mercer's sax is as chilling as ever and songs like 'Built For Comfort,' 'Thinking Of My Life,' and the best ever cover of Frank Zappa's 'Willie The Pimp' are heavily blues based. But the band also expanded into hard rock, psychedelia and early prog. Campbell's guitar work is simply stunning and miles above anything done at the time. Williams' throaty vocals are superbly expressive, a powerhouse on his own, and all the other band members play incredibly well, turning this album into a timeless masterpiece. In many respects this album encapsulates everything that was great in music by the end of the 1960s: originality, innovation, guts and talent. Essential music for body and soul! Another critic describes it as a surprisingly excellent 1970 boogie rock album with as-good-as-it-gets sound quality. 'Mississippi Woman' and 'Whiskey In The Jar' are also very hot tracks. Interesting to compare the huge fat British sound here to the trebly weedy sound you get on many US albums around this time. It's well thought out and explosive/dynamic music. Kinda like Grand Funk Railroad meets Cocker's 'Mad Dogs' period with a bit of Creedence for those Southern overtones or think of an English incarnation of Leslie West's Mountain.
The album cover is also awesome, folding out to reveal a 6xLP sized cardboard/heavy paper poster. Damned cool! The extra track 'Thief' was the B-side of single 'Pretty Woman'. The reissue comes with an exact reproduction of the original cover and a 4 page insert with band story and photos. All titles are remastered. Don't miss this great album.

KARTHAGO (GERMANY) - ROCK 'N' ROLL TESTAMENT
First official vinyl reissue of this famous German rock album from 1974. Probably no other Karthago album was as extensively and intensively prepared as this one with songs finally composed by Joey Albrecht. This 3rd album of Karthago was a big step foreword, produced in London and with the participation of Glenn Cornick, famous bass player of Jethro Tull. Karthago developed a more mainstream style than most Berlin acts with strong songs, jazz and funk elements, backed up by excellence musician ship. Especially Joey Albrecht, influenced by Jimi Hendrix, had a real rock star appeal. This limited edition of the album is an exact reproduction of the original gimmick cover. The album is strictly limited to 500. The sound is brilliant and digitally remastered from original master tape. Not only for fans of the genre but also for lover of great Helmut Wenske artwork, who did the cover artwork and proved that he was a great painter of the psychedelic era.

LOVE CRY WANT - LOVE CRY WANT (BLACK)
Avant-jazz/psychedelic rock recorded live at an anti-war rally in Washington D.C., in June 1972. "Richard Nixon has heard Love Cry Want; you probably haven't - we're here to remedy that. The story: In June 1972, Nixon ordered aide J.R. Haldeman to cut short a concert in Washington, D.C.'s Lafayette Park because the president feared that Love Cry Want's roiling sounds would trigger rioting and possibly levitate the White House. It may have been the disgraced leader's most astute decision ever. For Love Cry Want's lone recorded artifact harnesses a scary power that rightfully put the fear in corrupt politicians. The six pupil-dilating tracks here still strike the ear as alien and terrifyingly wild. Love Cry Want consisted of Joe Gallivan (drums, steel guitar, Moog synth, percussion), Nicholas (guitar synthesizer, ring modulator), Jimmy Molneiri (drums, percussion) and Larry Young (Hammond organ). After establishing himself as a leader on the Blue Note label in the 1960s, Young played on Miles Davis' 'Bitches Brew,' John McLaughlin and Carlos Santana's Love Surrender Devotion, and the first three Tony Williams Lifetime albums. He emerged from those sessions at an exalted level of inspiration and with a formidable fire in his belly, and these traits helped shape Love Cry Want into a sui generis classic - a tone poem expressed with a flamethrower. Nicholas and Gallivan more than rise to the occasion. Using a self-built guitar synthesizer, Nicholas stuns throughout the disc with brash flashes of Hendrix-ian extravagance. Gallivan displays both inventive exoticness and cyclonic power as he and Molneiri deftly guide the group through its furious paces." -Dave Segal, Jazz Times. RTA version of 500 copies on black vinyl. Comes with an 8-page booklet with rare photos, bios of the artists + drawings and liner notes by legendary artist/author/musician Alicia Bay Laurel.

MAGI - WIN OR LOSE (BLACK)
First time authorized reissue of Rust Belt hard rockers Magi's 1976 privately-pressed hard rock nugget 'Win Or Lose', originally issued on the infamous Uncle Dirty's Sound Machine label. 'Win Or Lose' carries similar glimmers to other vulgar, pre-PC, mid-Amerigan rock whose stock-in-trade boy meets girl early rock'n'roll topicry could easily be pulled from the Rock 101 playbook, but Magi was more than mired in muscle and machismo. Magi displayed the general insouciance, hormones, and discontent of their age, but also a concerned and wounded heart underneath the veneer, much less common to the field. While essentially a meat-and-potatoes hard rock record, the album flies closer to the early '70s beginnings of the genre (with nuance and psychedelic hangover in tow), when the definition was less rigidly and generically defined, and is additionally expertly sequenced across its eight strong tracks, improved by a masterful mix and remaster by T. Dallas Reed (Electric Wizard, Iron Claw, Mos Generator, Orange Sunshine, Poobah, Saint Vitus, Treepeople, Truth And Janey, et al.), utilizing a reel-to-reel from the original recording sessions. In-depth and informative liner notes by Jeremy Cargill (Got Kinda Lost/NTS Radio) and Patrick Lundborg. As the uncredited seeker who penned the original rear sleeve text expressed... "Energy is apparent, the subtleties are there, listen, there's no question how they feel! Feel it with them! Feel the Magi!" "...quite contemporary in style for its 1976 release year. Regional and local bands tend to lag behind dominating music trends by a few years, but Magi's sound seems entirely in line with then popular acts like Aerosmith, early Kiss, and maybe Ted Nugent."
~Patrick "The Lama" Lundborg (The Acid Archives). RIYL: Aerosmith, Blue Öyster Cult, '70s Alice Cooper, Eternity, Foghat, Grand Funk Railroad, James Gang, Led Zeppelin, Lodestar, (early) Ted Nugent, Orang-Utan, et al.

MAN - 2 OZS OF PLASTIC WITH A HOLE IN THE MIDDLE
This is an official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1969 on Pye records. Man are a rock band from Wales whose style is a mixture of American West Coast psychedelia, progressive rock, and blues. As most of you know Man have an enormous back catalogue with a big list of albums that proved that they are one of the greatest bands to emerge from Wales and the UK. Still active today after countless line-up changes they are still part of the psychedelic, progressive jam rock scene. Let's go back to September 1969 when '2 Ozs Of Plastic...' was released on Pye Records (home of The Kinks). The band's second album is a vast improvement from their debut album 'Revelation'. Still heavily influenced by their west coast psych peers, the performances have tightened and great experimental ideas were flowing. The LP starts with the magnificent 'Prelude/The Storm', which lasts for over 12 minutes. A really unusual piece to kick off an album with, but it works. It's so full of atmosphere from all musicians. Crashing cymbals, a wall of noise from the Hammond and unusual sounds from Deke Leonard on guitar, making convincing seagull noises. The whole track emulates a storm perfectly as the title would suggest. Things continue to build towards a seemingly limitless crescendo before easing off to an altogether more relaxing, almost ambient phase. As we move into 'It Is As It Must Be' (originally to be titled 'Shit On The World' till the record company took fright), we begin to uncover what would become the essence of the band. Here we have a heavy, bluesy guitar driven riff laden number with the first vocals of the album. Apart from that brief vocal excursion, the track is primarily an elongated jam featuring lead guitar and harmonica. Other highlights include 'Spunk Box' (known as 'Spunk Rock' to the band and fans). A killer riff opens the first track on side two followed by some dirty sounding vocals to follow. This has remained in their live set and has been jammed to a jaw dropping length of 30+ minutes! With Man you get a real sense of West Coast US meets Methyr Tydfil (Wales) with an undercurrent of hard rocking trying to break out through the dreamy sounds of the Pacific surf, sort of. 'Spunk Box' is the standout track on this album. It really started to define the Man sound and still deserves great appreciation as one of their best titles ever. It remains though one of Man's signature numbers. 'My Name Is Jesus Smith' is the most commercial track on the album, reverting to the Bystanders light psychedelic pop rock style with pleasant harmonies. Midway through, the song bizarrely transforms into a hoe-down style country piece. 'Parchment And Candles' was reputedly performed on a harpsichord belonging to producer/song writer Tony Hatch, who took exception to the band using it without his permission. The piece itself is a brief reflective instrumental, quite unlike what we have come to expect from Man. The album closes with 'Brother Arnold's Red And White Striped Tent'. Not a particularly memorable track by any means, but fine all the same. 'Two Ozs Of Plastic...' is the album which sees Man starting to find a clear direction, while still experimenting with a few disparate styles. A high enjoyable trip. The album comes with 4 sided cover-sized insert with different German cover, stories and photos. Don't miss this classic item!

The album was originally released in 1971 on Transatlantic, produced by Peter Bardens (Camel). Marsipulami's sombre and slightly spooky flute-laden music, often evoking mythology, certainly was groundbreaking stuff and should've caught many more "underground public" ears. Side one: 'Prelude To The Arena' starts quite violently with Sabbath style dramatic chords and the theatrical exclamations of vocalist Fred Hasson. This leads to alternating calm and rock sections with organ, guitar, flute. Bass and some furious drumming are pretty stellar throughout the jamming. Quite a nice opener. 'Peace Of Rome' starts with a back and forth between vocalizations and flute followed by further lovely flute playing and another fluent rock section with organ. 'The Arena' begins with more dramatic narration over Hammond blasts and then some extended organ over subdued drumming, bass, and female background vocals. The flutes come in and the sound is quite eerie and a bit exotic. In the middle there is a great section of piano, flute and whispered female vocal, the calm before the chaos to follow. Starting at 9:20 is a section that sounds quite Camel-ish, one wonders if Barden's picked up some subconscious influence here although most of Marsupilami is much more captivating than Camel. The latter half of this song features again some truly fine prog rock moments, great guitar work, mellotron, vocals, and overall memorable textures. Side 2 begins with 'Time Shadows', which starts with echoed vocal and organ, then acoustic guitar and flute join and then harmonica and vocal. Soon a brisk bass and jazzy drum beat grabs the weirdness and pulls it along, then some piano joins in. About half way through we get the saxophone and electric guitar trading licks with an urgent flute and rhythm section behind. The last minute gets pretty crazy with the sax and guitar laying down some very heavy rock. 'Spring' is a great closer and another good hippie rock moment. After yet another insanely dramatic beginning the track suddenly jumps into the most delightfully melodic passage of flute, piano, and gentle Camel like rhythm. That stops and we move into a vocal weirdness section with cathartic wailing to edgy strings and keys, then a short e-guitar solo - the lead guitar work is pretty fine. After several minutes it slips back to the Camel-like melody to provide a pleasing and memorable ending. The organ work gives a bit of a early '70s psych feel. 'Arena' is a concept album with songs run in the 7-11 minutes range. Earthy, powerful and intriguing, Marsupilami was one of the first true progressive rock bands. This is a must for all lovers of early British prog rock. The album comes with 6-sided cover-sized insert sheet with comprehensive story by singer Fred Hasson and additional Glastonbury story by organ player Leary Hasson, rare and unseen photos and lyrics. Don't miss it!

MARSUPILAMI - MARSUPILAMI
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1970 on Transatlantic. Marsupilami is one of those early '70s groups that should've emerged but didn't, like Audience, Gravy Train, Gnidrolog and a few more. This south-west England sextet, built around the Hasson brothers Fred (vocals) and Leary (keyboards) and the latter's girlfriend Jessica Clarke (flute and vocals), released two superb albums that have gone way too long without being noticed. Marsipulami's sombre and slightly spooky flute-laden music, often evoking mythology, certainly was groundbreaking stuff and should've caught many more "underground public" ears, but the offer was plentiful in those times and the places in the sunshine a bit scarce. The opening 'Dorian Deep' is often sombre and brooding, heavy, organ-driven, with the fuzz guitar and the flute adding more drama, Fouracre's drumming being very strong, this leaves Hicks' bass playing often the anchoring role, but does it brilliantly. 'Born To Be Free' starts off as languid flute-driven piece before suddenly exploding into another frenzied jam, although the Leary Hasson organ solo gives this one a jazz tinge... that is until the harmonica solo comes in! Finally the flute reclaims the piece and the listener is thrown back to that now seemingly distant mellow beginning. The imagery in 'And The Eagle Chased The Dove To Its Ruin' drips with the rhythmic energy of classic psychedelia and is probably the listeners' declared favourite track. Side two starts with 'Ab Intio Ad Finem (The Opera)' which runs for nearly 11 minutes. It begins with a musical box kind of sound before a march gradually takes over. Some churchy organ creeps in and after 2 minutes, an excellent organ/tribal drum jam ensues and after a minute or two, some delightful flute chips in. It then becomes a guitar freak out, before flute leads the band back into a pastoral section, before everything takes off again on a wild jazzy jam at around the 7 minute mark, really great prog stuff. 'Facilis Descencus Averni' is a different beast altogether, perhaps even more jarring than the most manic moments of 'Dorian Deep' and a another high-powered jam, with a drastic switch to a meditative flute passage... before the great vocal part restates itself. There is a vibe that reminds occasionally of Quintessence and at other times of Iron Butterfly, but Marsupilami has more to offer.

This is an official reissue of Message's fourth album from 1976, remastered from the original master tape out of the vaults of Warner Music Germany. A little bit less hard-rock, more prog and a bit more jazz rock, but also song-oriented. On 'Synapse' Murdochs continues his quirky experiments with his vibrato-tremolo-heavy-guitar-sound. Sometimes it reminds of a less quirky, more linear-version of Kraan. Slightly underrated by krautrock fans, but highly recommended.

MOORCOCK, MICHAEL -& THE DEEP FIX- - THE NEW WORLDS FAIR
This is the first official reissue on vinyl under courtesy of Cherry Red Records of this highly sought after album, originally released in 1975 on United Artists, UK. Michael Moorcock is an English writer, primarily of science fiction and fantasy, who has also published literary novels. He is also a successful musician, well known for his collaboration with Hawkwind, Robert Calvert and Blue Öyster Cult. His own project is named Michael Moorcock & The Deep Fix. Michael's first performance with the Hawkwind was at The Green, Portobello Road. He also worked with the band on their album 'Warrior On The Edge Of Time,' for which he earned a gold disc. Michael Moorcock & The Deep Fix's 'The New Worlds Fair' included drummer Snowy White and a number of Hawkwind regulars (Dave Brock, Simon King, Simon House) in the credits. A non-album single, 'Starcruiser' coupled with 'Dodgem Dude,' (here included as bonus tracks) was belatedly issued in 1980. 'The New Worlds Fair' seems to be a concept album, a guy known only as Dude goes to the local fair. He sees a cute 16-year-old girl out with her friends, has a go on some of the rides, visits the music tent to watch the band and then gets caught in the middle of a nuclear war. It's a concept album, where Moorcock's lyrics and crowd noises is the red thread binding together a story about "Dude" going to the fair. It's a rather unique experience in many ways, the psychedelic tinged tunes with a distinct '60s flavor to them mixed in with dark and eerie lyrics - and a high level of theatrics in songs as well as the passages read out by Moorcock and slightly rockin' glamrock guitars submit a diverse, engaging offer, with a lot of catchy tunes. This is very much a one-of-a-kind release; worth checking out. Fans of retro psychedelic rock should find this one interesting, as well as fans of Hawkwind. The album comes with 4-sided insert sheet with an exact reproduction of the cover and the inner sleeves, including story and memorabilia. Plus 3 bonus tracks This is a secret tip! Don't miss it.

MR FOX - MR FOX
This is the official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1970 on Transatlantic Records. Mr Fox were an early 1970s British folk rock band. They were seen as in the 'second generation' of British folk rock performers and were compared with Steeleye Span and Sandy Denny's Fotheringay. They demonstrate the impact and diversity of the British folk rock movement and disbanded in 1972 having recorded two highly regarded albums. Married couple Bob Pegg (organ) and Carole Pegg (violin) started as a folk duo. For their first album they recruited Alan Eden (drums), Barry Lyons (bass), Andrew Massey (cello) and John Myatt (clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon) and adopted the name Mr Fox, which was also the title of their signature song, based on a bloody English folk tale - a version of the Bluebeard legend - in which a young woman outwits a serial killer. Mr Fox's first album is a classic of its own within the loose realm of British "folk-rock". They put themselves in the ranks of other great post-Fairport acts like Trees and Spirogyra. Stellar vocal harmonies, skillful arrangements and playing make this album irresistible. The use of classically trained musicians and the wide variety of instruments (including electric organ, melodeon, tin whistle, terrapin, fiddle, cello, flute, clarinet, bassoon, in addition to electric bass and drums) produced a hybrid sound which was predominantly acoustic in character. Carole Pegg is a gifted violin-player and the cello adds a special flavor at times. The stories they tell in their songs are very sinister, which is intended due to tradition. The album was well received by the music press and was made Melody Maker folk album of the year. The album comes with insert including bandstory and rare photos. Don't miss the nearly forgotten pearl of English folkrock!

NINE DAYS WONDER - WE NEVER LOST CONTROL
This is the first officially reissue of the 2nd album of legendary German Krautrockband Nine Days Wonder. After falling apart during their first British tour, Nine Days Wonder called it a day in 1972 and bandleader Walter Seyffer had to search for a new band. He soon met up with also Mannheim based Michael Bundts group Medusa, who agreed to join up and became a new incarnation of Nine days wonder. In comparison with extraordinary 1. album (also reissued in its original green foam artwork on Long Hair, LHC 100), "we never lost control" is more richly texted and feature a mellow progressive rock with slightly hard-rock touches and remind to David Bowies "Ziggy Stardust". Without the jazzy elements of the 1. album this album is a step forward into the at that time upcoming glam- rock sound but with that special German krautrock feel. Hard to describe this highly gifted mixture: a tuneful, powerful, excellent German Krautrock document of sound! Album comes with exact reproduction of original artwork, continuing band story and rare photos (insert).

PARADES AGAINST PARADES - DRIVING ME STONED
Parades Against Parades were formed around Saskatoon's (Canada) punk rock and indy scenes where the four teenagers exploded into their own, playing furiously and as often as possible to many riotous dance parties. These recordings though capture the band as they left behind their volatile and Wire-ish style into something more wasted and decadent as Chris Laramee bullied his way into the band on third guitar duties. Playing on the turntable was Spacemen 3, The Gun Club, Howlin' Wolf as the bands playing became more ragged and maybe sloppy but infused with feeling and bravado. A sound more wasted - like a mushroom infused Rolling Stones via the whips of the Velvets where broken strings, amps and bottles couldn't wake them from the spell as buzzsaw guitars slasjed the jugular in these recordings. Suck it in kids please. Limited to 200 copies worldwide. Comes with band history insert via Chris Laramee and download code. Only few available, so order fast! Co-release with Klassik Go Disko.

PURE LAND STARS - TREMBLING UNDER THE SPECTRAL BODIES
Pure Land Stars began as an exercise in improvisation involving David Johnson, Anthony Taibi, and Michael Dieter, all of whom are quite familiar with one another from their years together in White Manna. Their familiarity allowed these improvisations to quickly take on a life of their own and soon enough, with the help of Russ Thallheimer and Valerio Cosi on saxophone, an album took form. There are nods to krautrock on this album, not only in sound but also in tone, a distinct kind of ominous feeling reminiscent of the Cold War vibes often emanated by German groups in the 1970s. Considering the recent state of the world, this makes sense. It seems hard not to have an ominous feeling in one's periphery these days. Whereas White Manna's sound is primarily based in guitar, Pure Land Stars prioritizes synthesizers and drum machines, so much so that the members felt a new identity was warranted. With that said, those familiar with White Manna won't be too surprised with Pure Land Stars' direction, as there has been an increasing presence of synthesizers and electronic sounds over the past few years. And now it all exists in complete fruition.

REVERENDS - THE DISAPPEARING DREAMS OF YESTERDAY
Atlanta psych 5-piece Reverends drifted into our musical landscape in 2016 with a sole 7" pulsating with 'Psychocandy' fuzz called 'Dark Demon', then quickly followed up the hype with a full-length the same year. Titled 'Derealization Blues', it was immediately evident from the first note that these guys weren't just one-trick ponies. Cutting their teeth into the gospel comedown of Primal Scream, driving krautrock rhythms, Verve swagger and all the while maintaining that heaping helping of shoegaze godliness, Reverends became a lot of psych fans' new favorite group. Well, friends, they're back with a long-awaited follow-up titled 'The Disappearing Dreams Of Yesterday'. Comes on mint green vinyl. Only a handful available, so order fast.

RHYTON - KRATER'S CALL
By the time Rhyton unveiled 'Krater's Call' on Bandcamp in June of 2020, against the backdrop of a worldwide pandemic and the George Floyd demonstrations, four years had gone by since their last album, 'Redshift,' had been released. These 'Krater's Call' sessions were tracked in November of 2017 as mere improvisations. It was simply three guys getting together in the studio and doing what they loved to do - jam. This collection of songs, while clearly recognizable as Rhyton's ever evolving brand of psychedelic meanderings mixed with European, Middle Eastern, and other worldly folk leanings, is a version of Rhyton we hadn't quite heard before. The playing is quite loose and playful. Some of their past dissonance has been exchanged for warmth. Years of experimentation has led to a familiarity that allows each musician to open spaces in their playing and fall into comfortable grooves. They easily and effortlessly feed off each other's exploratory wanderings in ways that recall Can or even the Grateful Dead. All of this plays out in a very entrancing fashion, and sees the band flirting within the space between blissful heady daydreaming and the desire to, gulp, dance - something they continue to develop and carry over to 2021's 'Pharaonic Crosstalk.'

SAMUEL PRODY - SAMUEL PRODY (BLACK)
Heavy rock classic from 1971 now officially reissued for the first time. Samuel Prody was a British psychedelic hard-rock band which evolved from another group called Giant (originally with Viv Prince of the Pretty Things on drums!). Led by bass player/vocalist Tony Savva and featuring top guitar player Derek Smallcombe (Jason Crest), they recorded their sole album in England but for some weird reason it was only released in Germany back at the time, making it a true rarity of the heavy prog era. Wild vocals, pounding drums, distorted guitars, psych effects_culminating in the eight-minutes long 'Hallucination.'
Bootlegged many times, Guerssen presents the first-ever band sanctioned reissue with their amazing history told for the first time. Remastered sound. Original artwork in gatefold sleeve. Includes insert with liner notes by Klemen Breznikar (It's Psychedelic Baby) and photos and download card. RIYL: Black Sabbath, Edgar Broughton Band, Pink Fairies, Orang-Utan, Jerusalem.

SECRET OYSTER - STRIPTEASE
The recordings of 'Striptease' were a long time lost. In 1975 Secret Oyster had reached broad acceptance in Danish cultural life and on the music scene. Their 3rd album 'Vidunderlige Kaelling (Astarte)', reissued on vinyl and CD by LongHair, received massive media attention and a big audience. After finishing the rcordings for their 4th album 'Straight To The Krankenhaus' (also reissued on vinyl and CD by LongHair) the band was pleased to work on the recordings for another "ballet" with working title 'Striptease' by famous choreographer Flemming Lindt. The recordings took place in May 1976, 8 tracks, all composed by saxophone and keyboard player Karsten Vogel and further keyboarder Kenneth Knudsen. Musically a mixture of the 3rd and 4th album with the 7 minutes highlight 'Pas De Deux' which features Claus Böhling on guitar at his best. Great atmospheric music, dominated by organ and sax, wonderful melodies: these recordings had that special Secret Oyster feeling; great stuff, intelligent fusion rock with changing moods. Includes liner notes by Karsten Vogel, rare photos and is remastered.

SECRET OYSTER - VIDUNDERLIGE KAELLING
Reissued on vinyl is the third full-length by Danish band Secret Oyster, including ex-members of Burnin' Red Ivanhoe, Coronarias Dans and Hurdy. Originally dating back to 1975, this remarkable album was made on request for a ballet of the same title, starring one of the greatest Danish female ballet dancers of the era, Vivi Flindt. (It's also Vivi who posed naked for the cover of the album.) Musically we're talking progressive rock and jazz fusion of the highest level. Weather Report probably is the most obvious reference, although Secret Oyster had an amazing guitarist who gave the group a much more rocking sound. This edition comes with two bonus tracks and an insert featuring liner notes and rare photos.

SILBERBART - 4 TIMES SOUND RAZING
Repress! Official reissue of this legendary collector's item,
recorded by a heavy progressive underground power trio from
Hamburg. The album contained just four songs, 'Chub Chub
Cherry' (a short and heavy rock song sounding like a more
freaky Cream), 'Brain Brain' (16 minutes of acid drenched
nightmares, continuously shifting tempo in amphetamine-driven
mayhem), 'God' (a much more melodic composition with powerful
guitar arrangement, sounding like Black Sabbath meets Hendrix
and collectively going paranoid) and 'Head Tear Of The Drunken
Sun' (the closing piece that offers 12 minutes of hazardous power trio pyrotechnics). This is an extreme album in many
ways: the raw power, the cranky vocals, the restless
arrangements, and of course that ugly silver gnome on the front
of the sleeve. Includes many rare photos and the story of
Silberbart as told by leader Hajo Teschner. Fans of '70s prog,
psych and kraut rock will love this album.

So much so in fact, that it was one of his tracks that was chosen to open the recent Drone Rock Records 50th release compilation album, 'Sounds From The Psychedelic Underground.' STRANGE FLOWERS - AEROPLANES IN THE BACKYARD
The Strange Flowers are back in action with a new album that brings them back to their rnr origins. Its a very fresh and elegant release that revisits all areas of 60s sound, from hard-garage to psychedelia, from rhythm & blues to country-western. With moods ranging from darkness to light, from colours to black & white, the guys from Pisa go further beyond the clichs of garage revival, and make a step forward into modernity with the unique style that has characterized a remarkable carrier. Thus, having been around for quite a few years, The Strange Flowers are regarded as one of the most original and valuable acts of the psychedelic and garage scene in Europe. Aeroplanes In The Backyard is probably their best release ever. A very nice production under every point of view. Inspired songwriting, beautiful lyrics, a solid and convincing performance, exquisite arrangements, elegant cover art. An absolute must!"

STRAY - MOVE IT
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1974 on Transatlantic Records. It opens with a drum solo called 'Tap' (after all, this was 1974, and it was illegal for all prog and rock albums to be released without a drum solo). They then launch into great 'Move It', which was completely Strayed up and has plenty of that guitar and power they well were known for. It is a great rock song, led by a driving beat, straight forward hard rocking riffs, tasteful solo and vocal harmonies. The rest of the album, whilst being classic Stray, has always been regarded by the band as a bit of a mish mash. Tracks like Bromham's rocking 'Hey Domino', their cover of Jimmie Helm's 'Customs Man' or Gadd's slightly psychedelic and mellow 'Mystic Lady' and 'Our Plea' especially, moving the band into more melodic areas. Whilst one critic wrote, 'Move It' marks a dramatic improvement over its predecessor. It has vastly superior song writing, on a mix of pop/psych and hard, classic rock with vocal harmonies and great guitar playing. Great recording quality, great production qualities. Steve Gadd would leave the band following 'Move It'. Unhappy with Transatlantic`s promotion Stray decided to leave the label and were signed by Dawn, PYE's imprint for progressive rock. The album comes with 4 sided cover sized insert with bandstory, photos etc., remastered and brilliant sounding. For all lovers of melodic, psychedelic hard rock!
Comes in gimmick cover and includes 1 bonus track.

STRAY - MUDANZAS
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1973 on Transatlantic Records.
'Mudanzas' (a Spanish word meaning to change or to move on) was the beginning of a new phase of Stray. It saw a more widescreen approach in term of production, with orchestra and brass on tracks like the driving 'Come On Over'. It certainly smacks of ambition and puts a bit more commercial sheen on the sound. Tracks like the brilliantly bluesy 'Gambler' work well with the brass and the funky bass of Giles, who, along with Coles, is the powerhouse rhythm section that keeps the band motoring along. 'Pretty Thing', (atmospheric Hammond organ based) 'Oil Fumes And Sea Air', (The Who-sounding) 'Alright Ma' and 'Leave It Down To Us' are also stand-out tracks. Bromham's guitar is fine as ever, the band's melodic hard rock instincts remained intact, and the harmony vocals he now also provided, add so much more to the music. The 'Mudanzas' album was approached with a great sense of excitement and energy. The band felt that after years on the road at last they had the chance to show that Stray was not just another heavy rock band. This was a chance to really expand their music and show what they could do. 'Mudanzas' was on another level to the previous three albums! 'Mudanzas' brought the band their first gold disc and so many years after its release it is considered to be an acknowledged pearl of 1970 rock. The album comes with 4-sided cover sized insert with bandstory, photos etc., remastered and brilliant sounding. For all lovers of melodic, psychedelic hard rock!

STRAY - SATURDAY MORNING PICTURE
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1972 on Transatlantic Records. 'Saturday Morning Pictures' was the band's third album and is guitar player Del Bromham's and Steve Gadd's favorite album to this day. It is a great album with songcraft better than most, and with a more 'matured', embellished and varied style compared to the previous two albums. Stray made greater use of keyboards, including a VCS3 synth, as well as guest musicians on extra percussion and a sparingly-used violinist. Certainly they'd stepped more in a progressive direction, without discarding hooky, well-crafted songs, but there was less this time around to give full psycho-rock satisfaction. The band moved toward mellower songs but nevertheless it was still a hard rocking effort with a lot of distorting guitars and psychedelic influences. According to lead guitarists and main composer Del Bronham by the time Stray made 'Saturday Morning Pictures' they felt they really wanted to experiment with recording techniques and multi instrumentation (this was something Del always admired George Martin and The Beatles for). 'Saturday Morning Pictures' opened up the band's sound, due in part to the maturity of their song writing (check out 'After The Storm' or the instrumental passage in 'Queen Of The Sea') but also due to the production by the legendary Martin Birch, who was moving into production after making his mark engineering for bands like Deep Purple and of course later made his mark with Iron Maiden. This was a step up in sound and quality and it was due to the band's building success. Further highlights are the band compositions 'Our Song' and 'Mr. Hobo', a country blues lament. It should also be noted that Mike Evan from the Bristol band Stackridge played violin and Andy Bearne contibuted harmonica. Transatlantic hired the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park to promote the album, with Stray performing a Saturday morning matinee gig at the venue. The album comes with 4-sided cover-sized insert with band story, photos etc. It is remastered and brilliant sounding. For all lovers of melodic, psychedelic hard rock!

STRAY - SUICIDE
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. The album was originally released in 1971 on Transatlantic Records. 'Suicide' was the band's second album and is another hard rocking, guitar driven effort with psychedelic influences. 'Son Of The Father' (5:46) begins the album as a slow martial lament, with a ghostly distant wind of very quiet drum washes and acoustic strumming, before kicking into a jubilant up-tempo fuzz riff verse/chorus part and going through numerous highly charged metal riff changes tempered by pathetic sounding strings on the mellotron. 'Nature's Way' (3:28) is a fuzzed heavy riff-rocker more reminiscent of the first Stray album, with balls the size of pumpkins and a complex middle section. 'Where Do Our Children Belong' (3:37) is one of the soft songs. It's all lazily paced acoustic guitar (or perhaps just quiet electric), nice harmonies, and totally appropriate bass and drums, actually a pretty nice track. 'Jericho' (4:53) remedies that, with a timely arrival of kind of dramatic, hard charged ever-changing riff sequences with urgent lyrics, sliding beyond belief into a tumbling dervish of chiselling guitar as the walls of Jericho "tumble to the ground!" from the sheer power of loud music. This one's a contender for the best song on the album, the other being 'Suicide'. It could have been a hit single because it's damn catchy and brilliantly constructed. 'Run Mister Run' (3:53) rides a hard, funky bass riff and almost southern rock guitar, complete with stomping drums and cowbell. It sounds very much like Mountain meets the James Gang? 'Dearest Eloise' (2:27) is a love song, soft all the way through, with strings and much flowery balladry and muzak all round. Pretty nice. 'Do You Miss Me' (6:26) runs at a jumpy pace, almost with a late '60s American jazzy psych/pop/soul feel until the song switches into some heavy downer riffing before picking up speed again and galloping into a fast and hard boogie jam. 'Suicide' (7:37) closes the album as its heaviest moment, weighty, (cock)rock-hard demon riffing sounding, a true highlight to finish this terrific album! The album comes with a 4-sided album-sized insert, including band story, photos and lyrics. It's remastered and brilliant sounding. A must for all psychedelic hard rock aficionados!

TAJAK - LA SOMBRA DEL AGUA (2LP)
'La Sombra Del Agua' is the fourth studio album by Tajak. It was recorded in Coatepec, Veracruz, Mexico, from March till December 2020 during an isolated residency in the forest. The recording process was quite different from previous experiences. Former albums were recorded much quicker, in one or two days of studio sessions. In this latest album, aside from not being recorded in a studio, it was a much more patient, meticulous and intimate process. The main and intimate process. The maintracks (drums, bass and guitar) were recorded outdoors at the side of the Pixquiac river, a fact which is not very usual. After recording the main tracks, there were several weeks spent afterwards editing, recording overdubs and mixing. In this case a lot more instruments were used than they normally use. They kept the traditional bass, guitar, drums and vocals format, then added lots of layers of texture including field recordings, synths and other instruments like ocarina, sitar, flute, twelve string guitar, thunder drum and tape effects, the last one being a very important and special contribution from Pedro Tirado/Servicios Eléctricos. In the background you can hear the ambient sounds from the morning, afternoon and night at the cloud forest. It's the first Tajak album written completely in Spanish. The influence of the cloud forest was very present in the composition of the album. In many of the songs you can perceive the interactions and conversations between the music and the surrounding outdoors environment. The ending result are seven songs which start with solid structures that are eventually unassembled and molten into a soundscape of fractalic sounds that dance between the spacial and the earthly. Co-release by Little Cloud Records in the US, The Acid Test Recordings in the UK and Hole Records in Mexico. Limited to 350 copies on coloured vinyl.

TEMPEST - LIVING IN FEAR
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1974 on Bronze, Island this is the second (and last) official album by the UK heavy progrock group Tempest, formed by famous drummer Jon Hiseman following the breakdown of the original Colosseum lineup. The second incarnation includes, still as before, Colosseum bassist Mark Clarke, but (after former guitarist Allan Holdsworth left) new on guitar, keyboards and vocals (former vocalist Paul Williams had to leave the group due to alcohol problems), Ollie Halsall of Patto fame! Halsall's playing is simply glorious throughout, blending jazz-rock and accurate heavy rock. He also plays various keyboard on the album, adding to the progressive textures of the music. Moreover, Halsall proves to be a very exciting and gifted vocalist! Mark Clark (Colosseum, Uriah Heep) still is a great groovy and melodic bass-player. The songs have rock 'n roll, heavy rock, art-rock and jazz-rock influences. The band has an intense feel and well performed vocals that give the music an extra push. Within the song Tempest manages to integrated progressive elements (rhythms, chords-changes, original harmonies) without loosing that fine rockin' atmosphere. During some extended solo-sections the band freely shoes how brilliant it can play, with the guitars of Halsall being especially exciting, the tracks are very catchy and uplifting. Like most early heavy progressive rock groups Tempest must have been unable to find its audiance, being to progressive for rockers and to straightforward for symphonic prog listeners. If you like heavy prog like May Blitz and Captain Beyond this will surely please your ears. Fans of Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy (because of the melodic bass) and Colosseum might also want to give this album a try. The original recordings were carefully and proper remastered. The album comes as a reproduction of the original gimmick cover with bandstory and photos summed up in a 4-sided cover sized insert sheet. Like Tempest's first album this is a must to all hard/heavy progrock fans!

TEMPEST - TEMPEST
This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1973 on Bronze, Island this is the first album by the UK heavy progrock group Tempest, formed by famous drummer Jon Hiseman following the breakdown of the original Colosseum lineup. It includes Colosseum bassist Mark Clarke, guitar and violin are handled by the brilliant Allan Holdsworth and vocals by one of the strongest UK vocalists Paul Williams (ex-Juicy Lucy). The music is a mixture of really virtuoso and energetic hard rock/heavy rock performances with slightly jazzrock (Colosseum) influences. Absolutely at the peak of hard-rock, with blinding musical prowess of a certain kind, this is a grower... the riffs, composition, rhythms, and melodies are pretty fantastic, better than 90 percent of the highly regarded output by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, or Black Sabbath, as one critic wrote. TIGER B. SMITH - WE'RE THE TIGER BUNCH
For the first time reissued on vinyl, this is the second album by Frankfurt's heaviest from the 1970s. In 1972 heavy blues rock trio Second Life (album on Metronome in 1971) changed to Tiger B. Smith. While the first album 'Tiger Rock' was quite an ordinary rock'n'roll album, 'We're The Tiger Bunch' (1973/1974) apparently attempted to create a fuller, more progressive sound with several guest musicians, namely guitar player Rainer Marz, Veit Marvos (organ, piano) and Hanus Berka (sax and flute) from Emergency and Curt Cress (Orange Peel) on drums. This album is for all friends of a heavier guitar sound. Remastered from the original master tape, the LP contains an insert with the band story and rare photos.

TITUS GROAN - TITUS GROAN
This is an official re-release of Titus Groan's eponymous album originally released 1970 on Dawn under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Titus Groan were a short-lived British jazz-rock quartet, named after the first 'Gormenghast' novel by Mervyn Peake. The original album contained five tracks all over five minutes long, including one extended suite 'Hall Of Bright Carvings' with a running time of nearly twelve minutes. This reissue adds three bonus tracks to the album from an EP also released in 1970. The group, before their premature split, was four-strong, featuring Stuart Cowell (keyboards, guitars, vocals), Jim Toomey (drums), Tony Priestland (sax, flute, oboe) and John Lee (bass). Their sound was a lighter variant on the Van Der Graaf Generator school of prog, just without the discordant rumblings and shrieking vocals. Titus Groan means high energy melodic songs with lots of guitars. Sax, vocal harmonies, and great percussion work/drumming. There's occaisonal organ and electric piano, but mainly a much earlier guitar battling with flute, sax, and oboe sound. The first song 'It Wasn't For You' is very bluesy and grooves along with a restrained hard edge. The vocal sounds eerily like Ian Anderson. The guitar, which is strong and confident brings again Jethro Tull to mind, while the bass and percussion have a jazzier approach like Cream or King Crimson. Now that Titus Groan have grabbed our attention with the lively opening number, it's time for the extended nearly 12 minutes long four-piece suite 'Hall Of Bright Carvings'. This epic song is a real musical tour de force, featuring flamboyant flutes, heavy guitar riffing, booming bass-lines and pounding percussion. The dynamic contrast between the gently melodic pastoral passages combined with sudden explosive outbursts of musical artillery fire are what really sets this music alight with power and passion. Titus Groan can really carve their names with pride for producing stunning jazz-rock like this. Side one closes with bonus track 'Liverpool', a very dynamic track, always marching forward. Side two opens with 'I Can't Change', which ironically, is a song full of constant change. It's a resonant flute-driven refrain that draws obvious comparisons with Jethro Tull, although the song takes a very unexpected turn midway through with a pleasant country rock diversion, before a return to more familiar fluty jazz-rock pastures. Either way, it's a great song that barrels along relentlessly and features enough sudden tempo changes to delight devotees of jazzy prog-rock. The next song 'It's All Up With Us' is very commercially appealing, which would have made it an ideal choice for release as a single. The impassioned silver-toned singer is positively bursting with optimism here and the heart-warming music sounds as bright and uplifting as a radiant sunburst of rainbow colours after a summer shower. This is timeless music where all the brightly-coloured flowers in the garden are blooming. 'Fuchsia', which is sadly the final song on the album, is another flawless funky fusion of pounding jazz-rock energy, which is altogether upbeat, up-tempo and uplifting and offers again frantic jazz-prog with flute and fuzzed out guitar. Two further bonus tracks 'Open The Door, Homer' (in fact a Dylan cover from the 'Basement Tapes' bootleg) and 'Woman Of The World' closes this underrated album. Titus Groan have delivered a memorable timeless jazz-rock classic. This energetic fresh album sounds just as good today fifty years on as it ever did back in the halcyon days of the proggy 1970s. The album comes with an exact reproduction of the original album gatefold sleeve and a 4 sided cover-sized insert with bandstory and photos. Highly recommended.

TOUCH (USA/OR) - TOUCH
This is an official reissue under courtesy of Cherry Red Records of this legendary album, originally released in spring 1969 as Coliseum DS 51004 in the US and as DERAM Sml 1043 in the UK. The incredible track 'Down At Circe's Place' was chosen as the opening track on the Top 30 charting sampler 'Wowie Zowie - The World Of Progressive Music' later that year.
Some critics will bring up the album's historical meaning, being the first U.S. progressive rock album. Even by "Zappa" standards. Instrumentation was mostly bass, drums, guitar and organ (and fine vocals) that would see the first serious creative use of effects we take standard for today; the beginnings of a whole new way of recording and of using the studio as a creative tool as well as taking keyboards, especially organs, and creating a new wall of sound. Released a full year before King Cimson's first album, this seems to be the original blueprint for many symphonic prog records to come. Sure, there were the Mothers, Velvets, Pink Floyd and other amazing bands preceding them, but none sounded anything like Touch. Imagine a blend of Vanilla Fudge, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and The Nice. It's like a missing link between psychedelic rock and progressive rock, and it's in a class by itself. The playing is good, and the arrangement by keyboarder Gallucci outstanding: it is evident that innovative studio techniques were being used to produce new sonic effects. With the examples of the two tracks 'Alesha & Others' and 'Seventy-Five' - particularly when run in sequence for a 13 minute plus prog gem - these have many forms of arrangement heard later in British prog releases. Listening to 'Friendly Birds' you will hear the origins of Yes and Genesis. The
album comes as a reproduction of the original gimmick cover including the big poster with a 4-sided insert sheet with bandstory and photos. Remastered from the mastertapes. A HIGHLIGHT!!

VELDT - (CLEAR) ENTROPY IS THE MAINLINE TO GOD
Limited to 175 copies on clear vinyl. Only a handful available, so be fast! Performing since they were children, the Chavis brothers' musical roots lead back to the church and southern juke-joints, and listening to music that included gospel, Motown and Pink Floyd. The Veldt formed in the late '80s in Raleigh amongst the legendary North Carolina music scene of the time, initially signing with Mammoth Records - leading to a chain of major-label relationships (and major-label failures) that took the group across Europe and the U.S. playing shows with the likes of Throwing Muses, Pixies, Cocteau Twins, and Jesus & Mary Chain. The major labels' dependence on shake-and-bake musical formulas left the band to work with a variety of indie labels after the release of their 1994 LP 'Afrodisiac,' cited by Pitchfork as one of the top 50 shoegaze albums of all-time. After the release of 1998's 'Love At First Hate,' the band's last full-length album, The Veldt briefly changed their name to Apollo Heights and released the album 'White Music For Black People.' After a brief hiatus, the band returned under their original moniker with the 'The Shocking Fuzz Of Your Electric Fur - The Drake Equation' EP, and have been steadily releasing singles and EP's since. With a headlining tour beginning in August 2022, and the release of the full-length 'Entropy Is The Mainline To God,' (via Little Cloud Records/The Acid Test Recordings/5BC) The Veldt is demonstrating that they have no intention of slowing down.

YAMA & THE KARMA DUSTERS - UP FROM THE SEWERS (BLACK)
Quintessential underground anarcho-hippie, anti-establishment private press blast by a band (and commune) from Chicago c. 1970, with poetic, sometimes vicious lyrics (Dylan-esque, or Arthur Lee and Love? you decide), and funky, hard-edged bones. Yama & the Karma Dusters (a.k.a. the Euphoria Blimpworks Band) were inter-racial, anti-war, Stop the Bomb, free love hippies, the wildest of the wild kids. They really cook on the up-tempo tracks, sounding like a cross between The Blues Project and Dylan's early electric period band circa 1966, augmented by a violin player. On the hard rockers, founding member Howard Berkman spits out protest without becoming precious, while the band simmers and sizzles. There are melodic folky ballads too, culminating in the gorgeous 'Hello Big City.' The band's ability to mix these elements into a coherent statement - recorded in surprising fidelity - solidify this an overlooked gem of the period. Need to know more? Check out the the massive 16-page gonzo memoir of their hippie commune - you can find out what happened when when Crazy Steve spiked the Gallo jug with acid! RTA exclusive of 500 copies on black vinyl. First legitimate reissue of this anti-establishment private press gem. CRIMSON SHADOWS - IT'S THE CRIMSON F****** SHADOWS!
Mid '80s Swedish neo garage teen punks the Crimson Shadows
set the standards for the garage scene to come playing all
original material in a time when most similar bands relied heavily on covers. They also understood that the clothes are as important as the music. During the short life span the Crimson Shadows released two self produced 45's, and due to demand a few more records were released after the demise. The second 45, 'Even I Tell Lies,' stands as one of the classics of the whole eighties garage wave. 'It's The Crimson F****** Shadows!' is the definite collection of this legendary band containing a slew of horrific hits plus two previously unreleased tracks culled from a 1986 rehearsal tape. JEAN LUK - ODIO QUELLE CHE SOGNANO
Here are all the songs recorded by Jean Luk (born Luciano Gentile, on April 25, 1945, in Poggio Moiano a little country town close to Rome), published on 6 singles and a couple compilations between 1962 and 1963. An attitude, a great and unique voice and a killer guitar style, just perfect for RNR, crude and primitive, minimal and essential! Released with a beautiful color picture sleeve, with notes, photos and discography. One of the few Italian singers with the "right attitude" real RNR needs... raw and wild! Drawing inspiration from the cool ones, like Gene VIncent, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran... untamed "teen idles", and black originators (a la Little Richard)... this is what he listened to when he starts the Little Boys, in his family home garage (where you can still see wall graffiti about his RNR heroes!).

With a mix of garage-punk, echoes of Nederbeat and power pop these three Dutch guys deliver an instant underground garage classic. The songs are firmly rooted in '60s garage-rock, but you may also discover distant echoes of late '70s punk rock and '90s grunge. Limited to 300 copies, so order fast!

LIVERPOOL ECHO - LIVERPOOL ECHO
Reissue on vinyl of a remarkable album from 1973. Recorded by a band featuring former Mandrake Paddle Steamer mainstays Brian Engel and Martin Briley, 'Liverpool Echo' basically was an attempt to revive the early days of Mersey beat. The recordings sound authentic and remind of early Beatles and Hollies. At the time of its release, the days of hardrock, prog and glitter and glam, only few people showed interest in this "highly unfashionable" release. But now, some 40 years later, what remains is a splendid set of energetic and timeless beat/mod/powerpop tunes.

LOS VENTURAS - PLAYTIME! (BLACK)
After 18 years of playing, Los Venturas have marked their spot in the international scene of instrumental guitar music called surf music. That label however is too small for what the band brings its crowd: there's exotica, balkan, ska, soul, rock'n'roll. Some have already uniquely labelled it world surf music. The band itself rather sticks with penetrating guitar instrumentals.

MUTANTS (FINLAND) - DEATHRACE 3000
Funky garage. Afrogaragemambo. Psychedelic voodoo groove; Finland's The Mutants are tough to pin down when it comes to genres. The band originally started as an instrumental garage rock band in 1998. The line-up was completed by a percussionist and a saxophone player. The band released their debut 7" 'Le Mutant' in the summer of 2001 on Legal Records after which the band has released a bunch of singles and appeared on compilations. 'Deathrace 3000', originally released in 2002 on CD only, comes on green vinyl.

PEAU DE PECHE - THE LOST TAPES
Peau De Peche recorded an album in 1994. The album was to be released in Europe, but a string of unlucky coincidences happened; the label ran out of money, the master tape got lost in a fire at the recording studio. Years later, some cassettes were found with the songs for 'The Lost Album'. The band finally agreed that these recordings had to be released, so all tracks have been remastering and recreating. The 11 songs by Peau De Peche on 'The Lost Tapes' is one of the highlights of Norwegian garage-punk. From the era when The Cosmic Dropouts, The Lust-O-Rama, The Cutbacks, The Euroboys and Peau De Peche were the hottest bands on the scene.

SHAKERS (SWEDEN) - TRACKS REMAIN
Finally a The Shakers collection on vinyl! If Tages was Sweden's Beatles then The Shakers were Sweden's Stones. They were a little darker and a little more dangerous, but alas very short lived. They released a string of singles between 1965 and 1968, but did never manage to make an LP. So here it is, the first LP, 'Tracks Remain,' which compiles the band's best tracks remastered, of which several have never before been released on vinyl.

SICK ROSE - BLASTIN' OUT
The Long awaited new album by Italy's finest garage band of the '80s is finally done. Mastered by Dom Mariani of the legendary Stems in Australia, the album features fantastic new compositions in pure Powerpop style, mixed with the usual sixties/garage flavours that distinguish the band since twenty years now. In fact it's 20 long years from their brilliant debut "Faces" (planned to be reissued on Teen Sound records sometime by this fall...) produced by Claudio Sorge' seminal garage label, Electric Eye Records. Their songwriting has become incredibly professional and the awesome packaging will definitely capture as well as their new music. If you like Powerpop and sixties garage, strong harmonies, Rickembacker guitars, swirling organ..well, that's thee album you were waiting for...an unique chance to...blast out! The Sick Rose are definitely back in town.

TIMES - HERE COME THE TIMES, VOL. 1
Premier leaders of the mod and indie scene of the early to late '80s and beyond, Ed Ball's The Times produced some of the best '60s inspired tracks recorded - a string of pre-Britpop Britpop LPs that transcended the line between mod and a more refined commercial sound and here on this LP are a selection of favourites from the early years. Ed himself has kindly contributed some great liner notes that are on the rear sleeve and continue on the double sided insert.

TRASH BRATS - TRASH BRATS
1990 debut from Detroit's glam punks. Slipping through the cracks, looking for an audience. They had too much look and rock in them for the punk crowd and too much punk attitude and rough around the edges for the rock and glam metal crowd. They found their devotees from the Land of Misfit Toys. Developed their own army of the faithful. People who didn't mind (and actually liked) that they didn't fit neatly into one box or another. Hooks that get stuck in your head and heartfelt songwriting that makes you feel as if you know the characters in the songs. This is what those faithful cite as their definitive release. Deluxe package, gatefold jacket with lyric book and essay by the illustrious, industrious Jimmy Doom!

WOLFMANHATTAN PROJECT - SUMMER FOREVER AND EVER
'Summer Forever And Ever' succeeds 'Blue Gene Stew,' 2019's debut by the Wolfmanhattan Project, a collective unit co-starring three musicians familiar to In The Red listeners: singer-guitarist Mick Collins, front man of the seminal Detroit-bred garage units the Dirtbombs and the Gories, singer-guitarist Kid Congo Powers who played in such legendary bands as the Gun Club, the Cramps, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and drummer-vocalist Bob Bert, whose skin work has distinguished albums by Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, Lydia Lunch's Retrovirus, and Jon Spencer and the HITmakers. The group was founded as a studio project by three musicians who are kept busy by their primary bands. 'Blue Gene Stew' was written and recorded quickly. Powers says, "I think that the new record was much more a group effort. I think there's more of a group kind of sound, as eclectic as it is. I feel like we all played together, as opposed to playing on each other's songs." Bert notes that the band's music is grounded in spontaneity: "Me and Mick went in and had a couple of rehearsals, and I would come up with a beat, he would come up with a riff. I still have a cassette Walkman, believe it or not, and we'd put it down on that. It wasn't even a full song. We'd just put down a bunch of ideas. When it came to recording we'd lay down the basic tracks and work out different things, and a lot of it was made up on the spot. It really is a great collaboration." Recorded and engineered by Mark C. of Live Skull at his studio, 'Summer Forever And Ever' finds Powers playing piano and the Kaoss touch-pad effects unit and Collins playing synthesizer, in addition to their usual instruments. The album reflects the same eclectic mix of musical styles heard on the debut. References and sometimes even direct quotes from sources as diverse as the Andrea True Connection, Captain Beefheart, the Count Five, and Eurythmics leap out of the speakers.
