Bronx bard Tom Crosgrove got his start in garage rock group Elegant Four, AKA the Elegants, forming Brethren with bassist Stu Woods and drummer Rick Marotta, the unit backing Al Kooper in tandem with their own career; future Bowie keyboardist Mike Garson completed the picture. The great Dr John appeared on their self-titled debut and wrote opener 'Loop Garou' for 'Moment Of Truth,' a heady blend of swamp rock and gospel-tinged blues rock, with fine finishing touches from top NY session players; Crosgrove's rocking guitar riffs and Garson's keyboard melodies really shine. Another lost gem, ripe for rediscovery!

DELTA BLUES BAND - DELTA BLUES BAND
Delta Blues Band was originally formed in 1968 in Copenhagen. In the spring 1969 they got the chance to record an album for the big record-company EMI and their album was one of the first rock-albums using the multitrack technique in Denmark. Just after the release of their debut album the brothers Thomas and Michael left the group to form the successful group Pan. By 1968 the main rhythm and blues group in Denmark was Beefeaters. However, Delta Blues Band was distinct from both Beefeaters and the many other groups playing British inspired rhythm and blues in Denmark. Delta Blues Band was rather American blues inspired with a massive psychedelic touch (and light show). Delta Blues Band opened for Chicken Shack, Taste, Fleetwood Mac and John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers. This sole album by Delta Blues Band is very rare and it is fetching very high prices among collectors. The album has a solid status among those early underground blues albums we like so much such as Keef Hartley Band, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and Savoy Brown. A jewel from beginning to end.

Reissue of this legendary Danish progressive album. The trio's sole release, this 1971 album is considered one of the top Danish rock records of all time. The furious guitar playing of Claus Bohling is definitely the band's secret weapon, deftly maneuvering through heavy progressive, blues and jazz. The Kryss Talmeth Experience is a psychedelic stoner blues band based in Edinburgh Scotland, serving up a heady blend of filthy riffage, groovy basslines, swinging rhythms and more fuzz than an illustrated copy of the joy of sex. Formed in late 2016, the band's first foray into the studio came in October 2019 with debut album, 'Buy The Ticket Take The Ride.' The guys then spent the next two years gigging around the UK, honing their signature riff heavy, groove laden sound. 'When The Wheels Fall Off' is a testament to the band's diverse musical background, taking influences from jazz, blues, funk, metal and good old rock'n'roll music with a healthy scoop of grunge thrown in to the mix for good measure. Likevel is the dream world of Jason Mosher and Bridget Hauser, two gen x'ers involved in the Chicago music scene since the 1990's (Mosher was the guitarist in the late-era work of pop phenomenon band Green). Ethereal but subtly heavy, with jangly human themes delivered intimately, Likevel sets off into the future on a dreamship of their own. This is an authentic DIY low-fi endeavor, recorded late at night in an apartment, with some tracks one-take improvisations. "If forced to make comparisons, I'd say that there is an undercurrent of 'Ecstasy And Wine'-era My Bloody Valentine in Hauser's vocals, which to my mind is high praise, as that's some glorious stuff, and being compared to Belinda Butcher is major. I also hear (on certain songs) what reminds me in a tangential way of Galaxie 500 subterranean minor-key grooving. I particularly like the the slow-burn intensity of 'Overseas,' with its soaring and slashing guitar runs, and the openers on both sides ('Marigold Tea' and 'Highbird') are equally wonderful." Altogether dreamy and yet warm, thanks to the mastering by JJ Golden of Golden Mastering, "and in the night light you'll know what's revealed in the glow." "I like it!" ~Suzy Shaw, Bomp!

Heavy, stoner-inspired rock'n'roll from the underground scene of Oslo, Norway. 'Flat Earth Rider' is Suncraft's debut album, written and recorded during 2020. The album is a collection of six unique tracks that show off the band's wide array of songwriting prowess. Canadian singer-songwriter Elyse Weinberg got her start in the Toronto folk underground that birthed Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. Making her way to Los Angeles to visit Young, she shacked up with Cass Elliott of the Mamas & the Papas, whose friend Roy Silver signed her to Tetragrammaton. Backed by local band Touch, debut album Elyse placed medieval folk and psychedelic rock behind her raspy vocals, the unusual arrangements adding strings in places and even sitar. Despite reaching a respectful 31 on the Billboard charts, the glory faded when the label went bust, leaving Weinberg unmoored. A beloved lost gem, finally available again!

BOUZIDA, NASSER - MR BONGO MAN
Nasser Bouzida is a self-taught musician who has been playing and composing since the ripe age of 15. He made his TV debut on 'Saturday Superstore' when he was just 12 years old. Starting his journey on his mum's pots and pans, she eventually bought him a drum kit, and he slowly started playing percussion, bass guitar, piano and keyboards, eventually moving on to production and mixing too. Nass formed the ska band The Loafers with his school mates when he was just 15. They backed Laurel Aitken for two years and regularly supported Desmond Dekker and Bad Manners. He has since played in groups such as Skooby, Espadrille and currently Big Boss Man (with his life-long friend Trevor Harding), also recently releasing a solo reggae/roots/ska album under the pseudonym Big Boss Sound.
Nasser has also contributed on recordings from Morcheeba, Prince Fatty, Holly Golightly and The Link Quartet to name a few, also collaborating with Fay Hallam, remixing Paul Weller's version of 'The Bottle' (the Big Boss Man remix), and is also a visual artist. Following Nasser's solo 7" and LP releases in 2023, here again we see multi-instrumentalist Nasser Bouzida in his purest form... 'Mr Bongo Man' is a dance floor smash, with two versions for choice, along with a selection of the effects and scratches for your very own artistic expression. Limited to 300 copies.

CTMF (The Chatham Forts) was the first group name Billy Childish came up with for a group whilst he was Head of Research for The Medway Military Research Group - investigating the Medway Fortifications (as well as being an Apprentice Stonemason at Chatham Dockyard, Kent, 1976). It wasn't until 2013 that Billy got around to utilising the name. CTMF features his wife Julie on bass/vocals and Wolf Howard on drums (both playing with Billy in previous incarnations over the years). CTMF - described by Billy as `the epitome of modern: the sound of yesterday, tomorrow!', CTMF have released ten albums and over thirty singles/EPs. Come September 2024, The CTMF found themselves in the studio, the tape machine running. Quick as you like Julie (bass) suggested they record three of her favourite 'hits' from The Yardbirds song book. Precision bass in hand, and taking lead vocals (with their 14 year old kid Atticus on backing vocals), The CTMF got to work, thus revealing these manley Yardbirds ditty's are gems for the female voice also. Top marks! 'For Your Love' takes Face A, with 'Shapes Of Things' and 'A Certain Boy' for Face B. Limited to 500 copies.

Les Disques Bongo Joe is reissuing 'Au Revoir,' the debut album by Société Étrange, originally released in 2015 on the Lyon-based label S.K. Records, and now considered a cult classic. This Lyon trio, composed of Antoine Bellini (electronics), Romain Hervault (bass), and later joined by Jonathan Grandcollot (percussion), explores a minimalist instrumental soundscape, where repetition and tension play a central role. 'Au Revoir' was created with a raw and intuitive approach, mostly composed during the group's earliest days. At the time, Antoine and Romain were working as a duo,
experimenting with drum machines and electronic sounds inspired by the post-punk of the '80s, the robotic grooves of Neu! and Cluster, and the DIY spirit of early hip-hop. The result is a music that is both hypnotic and introspective, where the presence and absence of sonic elements balance with minimal precision. Between electronic layers and winding bass lines, the tracks move forward like on a foggy road, uncertain but
captivating. This reissue is more than just a re-release of an out-of-print album. It is a testament to the evolution of Société Étrange, a group that blurs genre boundaries, seamlessly blending post-punk, krautrock, dub, and electronic minimalism. With 'Au Revoir,' the trio crafts a singular instrumental sound, where each note seems to carry a unique weight and intention, borrowing equally from abstraction and narrative.

Les Disques Bongo Joe is reissuing 'Au Revoir,' the debut album by Société Étrange, originally released in 2015 on the Lyon-based label S.K. Records, and now considered a cult classic. This Lyon trio, composed of Antoine Bellini (electronics), Romain Hervault (bass), and later joined by Jonathan Grandcollot (percussion), explores a minimalist instrumental soundscape, where repetition and tension play a central role. 'Au Revoir' was created with a raw and intuitive approach, mostly composed during the group's earliest days. At the time, Antoine and Romain were working as a duo,
experimenting with drum machines and electronic sounds inspired by the post-punk of the '80s, the robotic grooves of Neu! and Cluster, and the DIY spirit of early hip-hop. The result is a music that is both hypnotic and introspective, where the presence and absence of sonic elements balance with minimal precision. Between electronic layers and winding bass lines, the tracks move forward like on a foggy road, uncertain but
captivating. This reissue is more than just a re-release of an out-of-print album. It is a testament to the evolution of Société Étrange, a group that blurs genre boundaries, seamlessly blending post-punk, krautrock, dub, and electronic minimalism. With 'Au Revoir,' the trio crafts a singular instrumental sound, where each note seems to carry a unique weight and intention, borrowing equally from abstraction and narrative.

Spo-Dee-O-Dee, were, with their average age of 19 years, the teenagers of the so-called 'Amsterdam Guitar School.' Fore-runners were Fatal Flowers and still active Claw Boys Claw. The year, and yes the title of this album: '1989.' The band is making a latterday return visit to their first label: Utrecht's Kelt Records. The track 'Girl In The Park' was originally released on a compilatiom EP and the debut single 'Stand Up' was a big radio hit with the alternative radio programme 'Nozems-A-Gogo' and enjoyed heavy rotation on national radio. And heavy was the word for this power trio. Influenced by seventies rockbands but always with an ear for what was going on at the time. On this CD of their first recordings, you'll hear the three released single-sides, five previously unreleased tracks and two alternative versions of songs they recorded for the debut album 'Going Walkabout.'

Innovative tenor saxophonist/composer Eddie Harris brought the electric sax to prominence and many know him for 'Freedom Jazz Dance,' which Miles Davis recorded in 1966. 1970's 'Smokin'' was probably culled from earlier Vee Jay sessions, but whatever the case the LP is a beautiful blend of soul jazz, hard bop and outré influences that contrasts later work for Atlantic. High points include an alternate of the moody 'Oliphant Gesang,' the relaxed 'Indonesia,' the vibraphone-heavy 'Sounds At The Archway' and 'Step Da Co Eel Waltz,' and the appealing groove of 'Ed's Blues.' In the short time of the band's existence, The Raunch released one scorching 7-inch, contributed a cool Paul Revere cover to the collectable local 'Battle Of The Bands' compilation and recorded notable covers of 'Hey Joe' and John D. Loudermilk's 'Tobacco Road'. This one-sided LP collects all those five tracks and adds a 4-page info sheet, including rare pix. The two songs from the single, originally issued by Bazaar Records, are the crude garage track 'A Little While Back' b/w the more moody 'I Say You're Wrong'. Though we only get five tracks, there's enough energy, sharpness and garage-punk excitement to fill a complete album.

The Abstracts from Long Island, N.Y. are best known for their classic song 'Always Always'. As one of the first US bands to create an American answer to the British Invasion, their songs were already written and a master plan already in the works when the Beatles started their meteoric rise in the US. But like many of the first wave UK beat bands, The Abstracts were together only for a little more than two years and split when rock and roll moved into a direction that wasn't theirs. Though during this short period, with their storming and ingenuous beat, they recruited a huge following and accomplished a great deal. They were one of the first bands to utilize a light show and besides their sole 45, their legacy contains a cache of unreleased period recordings, some of them made for Columbia Records in 1964. Finally, over four decades later, this album collects the bands entire studio material alongside two excellent sounding 1966 live tracks. An in-depth insert with a wealth of never-before-seen-photos traces the history of the band that brought "Abstractmania" to the New York area in the sixties.

CATHERINE'S HORSE - GARAGE BLUES FROM CONNECTICUT
Due to a long time growing interest into local '60s rock, most band stories, even of those who did put out rare and local records, have since been written. Not so with Connecticut band Catherine's Horse. Their sole album dates from 1969 and was released only in an inner sleeve and no cover. Due to its rarity it is still a largely unknown release among today's record collectors and honoured with five stars in Hans Pokora's '1001 Record Collectors Dream Book'. But those who happen to be familiar with it, appreciate it for the fresh sound of the music and the clear production. That and the fact, that it's an amazing white blues rock album with a strong garage attitude provided by five high school students who never played professionally. The tracks are nearly all cover versions of classic, often moody blues tracks reminiscent of early Paul Butterfield Blues Band or Blues Project. Includes long time standards such as 'Good Morning Little School Girl', 'Think Twice', 'One More Mile' or 'Can't Keep From Cryin'' mixed with covers of Jimmy Brenston's 'Rocket 88' or Jagger/Richards' 'Good Times, Bad Times'. The only group original 'Sun Going Down' hints at the talent and potential the band had and rounds off the group's effortless white electric bluesrock expertise. As the vinyl release, this CD release comes with the originally intended coloured cover-art. The detailed booklet has the band's history as related by original members Roger Goodspeed, Jay Geary and Putnam Smith, alongside rare photos and memorabilia.

HORDE - PRESS BUTTONS FIRMLY
Undoubtedly the most exciting mid sixties garage album to be recently discovered in the genre, is that by The Horde from North Carolina. The existence of this self produced album came to collectors' ears and eyes in 2012. It was recorded more or less accidently in early 1967, released in a micro quantity of only 25 copies and among the local US garage albums of the decade it is one of the few eclectic examples with all the ingredients that makes it outstanding compared with the usual prep-school albums of the time. It contains a blend of exciting originals and well chosen, inspired covers (a.o. of songs made famous by Love, Blues Project and The Stones), played in a raw, crude and frantic style. If ever it were true that the over-used assertion that a band's cover versions measured up to the originals, then it is true of The Horde. Why? These five 19-20 year old students from all over the United States did not only blaze a trail for '60s rock in then conservative North Carolina, they also had a general attitude that finds its origins in the young peoples' mindset of the mid-sixties that put them outside of the local mainstream and gained them a sort of regional underground popularity. This CD has 4 bonus tracks.

LONDON DRI - WESTERN SKIES: L.A. PSYCHEDELIC 1967-69
In August 1967 LA-based group The London Dri recorded what would be their only 45-rpm single. 'Life In Your Hand', an original song written by guitarist Bruce Thomas, was backed by 'Dona, Dona', a re-working of a Jewish folk song with a new arrangement by the group. Released on the Yobo label, the two songs represented the entire released output by the combo. For years, if recalled at all, The London Dri would be remembered for that lone single. Between their 1965 formation and their disbandment in 1970, however -and in between hundreds of performances and even a movie appearance- The London Dri recorded several other songs that, had they been released, would certainly have earned the group a more prominent standing today among Hollywood rock groups of the era. One of the most remarkable tracks is 'This Is Life', practically the London Dri's version of the Caretakers Of Deception's legendary garage/psych classic 'X+Y=13'. 'The Other Side Of Soul' and 'Western Skies' are both melodic period westcoast rock pieces with excellent psychedelic guitar playing. 'Hurry', 'Wanting To Know You' and 'Sorry' are all from The Misunderstood school of sound and show some clear shades of UK freakbeat/psych bands such as The Game, Mike Stuart Span or The Attack. The only cover version is a 5-minute+ rendition of Big Brother & The Holding Company's 'Combinations'. London Dri had it all, from garage-rock to classic US psychedelic to UK styled mod/psych. Finally here's the band's entire legacy; 11 killer tracks in the distinctive London Dri style. Included is a detailed 8-page booklet with history by Mike Dugo and pics.

CD version with a different artwork. The Roosters have been known among fans and followers of the Californian mid-'60s folk rock scene for a long time. Their 'One Of These Days' b/w 'You Gotta Run' 45 has been included on early garage compilations and is a huge favourite among collectors. Less well known is their second and at least as brillant 45 'Rosebush'/'Ain't Gonna Cry Anymore.' Additionally there's a rare 1965 surf/mersey punk single released under the name Five More, an early 1965 acetate put down as The Avengers and most of all, three 1966 stunning unreleased folk/garage janglers recorded at Gold Star Studio. This collection finally puts all these gems in one place and unravels the enigmas behind the band on an LP sized full glossy insert with a detailed history of the band emerging from the memoirs of guitarist and songwriter Timothy Ward and the band's vocalist Ray Mangigian. This is embellished with a load of stunning never-before-seen photos. Finally here's the legacy of an underrated, but excellent band direct from Los Angeles, the mid-sixties epicenter of jangle - The Roosters!

A collection of rare '60s L.A. garage rock taken from the band's 7-inches, plus four so far unreleased period recordings. The 8-page booklet offers pictures and band history by Mike Stax. The story of the Syndicate runs along similar lines to countless other rock'n'roll bands in the mid-sixties. They got together to have fun, made some noise on the local teen scene, recorded a couple of singles and then vanished into thin air, all within the space of the magical years 1965 and 1966. What makes the Syndicate special are those two hard-to-find singles. 'My Baby's Barefoot' and 'The Egyptian Thing', both released in 1965 are two of the most savage, hot-wired blasts of punk R&B mayhem ever etched into wax, while the flipside of 'The Egyptian Thing', entitled 'She Haunts You', showed the group were equally adept at moody, minor-key material. The 'Egyptian Thing' album presents the band's four A's & B's alongside four unreleased, same-calibre tracks from the same period, and an earlier 45 by the Ris-Kays featuring Syndicate front man Bill Rash.
