::NEPAAL - BLACK BATIK I
Please introduce yourself to your favourite new psychedelic mind destroyers of far fucking out JAMS. From the Psychedelic Source collective family in Hungary we bring you ::nepaal.
A collective whose recordings where in part due to the sad passing of Tibor Strauzs (a passionate Hungarian musician) - who over a lifetime as a recording musician had collected some of the best recording equipment available. Tibor's son David was tasked with safekeeping all this equipment he felt the best way to test all this equipment was with a monumental jam session at Psychedelic Source Studios. ::nepaal was formed from that session and the title sums up the essence of this project - eastern psychedelic wisdom, far-out improvisation, the legacy of a good man and the crystallisation of decades of musical friendship. So over 2 LP's get ready for head spinning jams where you can start to feel the universe expand and contract with the vibrations that emit from the grooves cut into these slabs of vinyl. It is a truly a special feeling to be immersed in the wonderfully explosive, difficult to predict and utterly mind-melting psychedelic mantra of sounds and harmony created by ::nepaal - a place guaranteed to illuminate many tunnels of spiralling trip-time. Space is the place. Co-release between Acid Test (UK) and Tonzonen (Germany). Limited to 350 copies on heavy weight galaxy (yellow and black) vinyl.

This is Agusa's first studio release since their self-titled 2017 outing and the first one featuring new members Simon Ström (bass) and Roman Andrén (organ).

Limited reissue on black vinyl, with different artwork, single sleeve and the original different mix! On this album Agusa delivers a wide array of seamlessly-executed, organic rock. The band's tranquil music blends tripped-out psychedelic and progressive rock structures. These are inspired more by folk than occult influences, instilling visions of nature, the cosmos, and dreamlike passages, meandering into realms of a possibly supernatural or parallel existence. Though mostly an instrumental album, backing vocal mantras do seep in through purposeful cracks in the construction of these immense movements, adding an even more spacious feeling to the overall flow of the album.

AMBASSADOR HAZY - GLACIAL ERRATICS
Cardinal Fuzz and Feeding Tube Records are delighted to make available for you the debut release by Ambassador Hazy - 'Glacial Erratics' - previously pressed as a private press edition of 100 records back in 2020. Ambassador Hazy is a solo recording project by Sterling DeWeese who was previously in a slew of obscure bands including Heavy Hands, Dirty Rainbow, Terrapin Gun, Madison Electric and Black Fantastic. 'Glacial Erratics' is really a comeback record as Sterling had totally stopped playing for 7 or 8 years after he got married and started a family and the business of life took over - but the calling was always there and as his youngest began to grow - the time became available for Sterling to answer the call.
First though he needed to get his «" reel to reel 8 track back in working order and set up a studio space and fit it out with gear. It required the small matter of converting part of the basement into a studio, building the walls, and adding enough soundproofing to hopefully keep the neighbors and his wife happy - but such a thing was not going to stop Sterling. Soon he was playing again with some local musicians and recording some of those performances live to tape but the hassle of getting everyone together at the same time was hard so in the downtime Sterling began focusing on recording on his own. Thus the name 'Glacial Erratics' was born, as it was all a bit of a hodge podge (i.e. erratic) and ended up being done over several years (i.e. glacial). Once there was enough material finished, between band tracks and solo tracks Sterling compiled them. The resulting album is a kaleidoscope of contagious hooks and artfully crafted songs, laid to tape and brought to life in brilliant colour. 'Black Smoke Rising' is a blur of fuzz guitar and stuttering snare hits as Sterling tells us 'I believe in the future - don't take it away' and over 14 tracks you are treated to artfully crafted acid pop gems that are riddled with potholes and weird left turns, with hooks that seem to bubble out of nowhere before receding into themselves. The lo-fi aesthetic works perfectly, with the songs benefiting from the warm fuzz tones of the instruments and vocals recorded onto that now fully functioning «" tape machine. Limited to 250 copies on black vinyl.

AMBASSADOR HAZY - LEAVING HERE
'Leaving Here' is hallucinatory lightning in a bottle - it is the sound of sunny summer days passing by and old friends coming and going, and psychedelics slipping in and out of your mind in vast quantities. Each song is an acid soaked rabbit hole which sucks you in and leaves you immersed in an unusual sonic world projected before you in brilliant technicolour. Musically each song veers between bright sunshine fuzzy soaked pop and dark warping druggy-tinged nightmares that is the USA in 2024. It quickly becomes clear that Ambassador Hazy is an artist driven by an expansive musical vision; one which feels as sumptuous as it is otherworldly. Immaculately bright and infectiously catchy psych pop gems packed full of odd detours and abrupt freakish left turns. The songs here are far too densely packed with way too many ideas for them to ever sound uninteresting or bland, each passage is a triumph of an expansive musical vision; one which feels as sumptuous as it is otherworldly. 'Leaving Here' expands upon what Ambassador Hazy has experimented upon their previous releases, that sense of wonder and outlandish that leaves you immersed in a wonderful landscape of hypnotic, transcendental sounds and surrealistic lyrics. On the surface, 'Leaving Here' is a psych pop album, but when you peel back the outer layers, you're left with something that feels far beyond this world. Think all your favourite fuzzy bands on a nice, big, psychedelic drug cocktail. Limited to 250 copies on clear vinyl. Co-release with Feeding Tube Records.

AMBASSADOR HAZY - THE DOOR BETWEEN
Following 2022's much loved and long sold out 'The Traveler' Ambassador Hazy is back with 'The Door Between' (the title taken from an old detective novel) which is a perfect metaphor for album's explorations into consciousness and perception, seeing the connectedness between all things while also embracing one's solitude and separation from others. Themes that were amplified as the record was recorded alone in a basement during a pandemic. With some new mics and toys featuring on this recording, Sterling experiments a bit more with recording techniques and different sounds which bring about a more overtly psychedelic sound than on 'The Traveler' and with a few songs being more explicitly drug related (and or induced). 'The Door Between' is about being an outsider, or at least that feeling of being outside of things and the ways one might find connection be that through drugs, music, love. So while 'Orange Halos' starts the proceedings the overtly upbeat and infectious melodies we have come to know and love from Ambassador Hazy - by the time you reach 'Going Down' you are dropped into Martin Rev/Suicide synth/drum machine head trip.
So join Ambassador Hazy - maybe crack open a beer, smoke a joint, take a tab or just sit in your favourite chair - drop the needle on 'The Door Between' and let it transport you to that other place. 300 copies on black vinyl.

ANUNNAKI - (PURPLE) MARTYR OF ALEXANDRIA
Limited repress of 100 copies on purple vinyl, only ahandful available, so first come, first served. Across their previous seven releases the Nanaimo, BC Canada-based instrumental duo Anunnaki have explored such intriguing sources of inspiration as Hermeticism, Japanese UFO folklore, and beckoning the Apocalypse. These topics considered, it will surprise few that on their EP 'Martyr Of Alexandria', the bicephalic psych-drone-rock powerhouse have turned their exploratory gaze to specific events that occurred in 5th century Alexandria. Indeed, having named themselves for mythological Sumerian deities, Dave Read (Moths & Locusts) and Arlen Thompson (Wolf Parade) suggest an intent to operate as wide-eyed sonic archeologists on a quest for truths both musical and spiritual, and as such are delving deeper and deeper into their historical fascinations with each successive release. With three brain-melting tracks occupying 30 minutes, on 'Martyr Of Alexandria; Read (basses/guitars/synths/effects) and Thompson (drums/synths/samples) have crafted a visceral aural tapestry examining the harrowing demise of Hypatia, a pagan philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician known in her day as a teacher possessed of great wisdom. As a victim of accusatory rumours emanating from a complex religiopolitical situation at a violent time in history, Hypatia was martyred following her brutal end at the hands of an incited, rabid Christian mob in 415 AD: 1,606 years on, Anunnaki pay tribute.

ANUNNAKI/CHINO BURGA - PANAMERICAN SONIC PRAYERS (PD)
High evolutionary sonic meditations from two of the best practitioners of free flowing drone from the Americas in Anunnaki (Wolf Parade/Moths & Locusts) and Chino Burga (3AM/Culto Al Qondor). Over 2 side-long hypnotic meditations where minimal electronics flow into languid low-end reverberations and drones that tug on the loose threads of the cosmos. Think of Tangerine Dream, Cluster and Eno floating on a raft in the middle of the Pacific Ocean as the electronic and bass create a rippling and immersive flow that rises and falls in time with the rhythm of your psychedelic soul. Within the grooves of 'Panamerican Sonic Prayers' you are given access to a deep and spiritual peak if you follow these instructions. Step one is to put away the earthling and relative concept of time. Once you put away that concept, second step is to realize that everything is vibration and that consciousness changes via repetition. Third step is to jump into the space-time void.

BAILEY, STEPHEN - 9
The last we heard from Stephen Bailey was in May 2018, when he released his debut album 'Silo', a sprawling collection of warped psych-pop that zigzagged between classic '60s rock and eerie freak folk, and served as an impressive introduction into his expansive sound. It has been a little bit of a break, although he certainly hasn't been resting on his laurels, as he also fronts Perth heavy-hitters Mt. Mountain. '9' picks up where 'Silo' left off, creating a familiar sense of warmth and lushness, however, this time around things feel more considered, compared to the lo-fi bedroom psych pop nature of 'Silo'. Led by woozy keys that constantly stab over a laid-back drum and bass grooves while grainy guitar chords chime in as instruments leave plenty of space for Stephen's warbly voice to cut through, up close and delicate, as he weaves the track's strongest hooks almost effortlessly. Expressions of indecisiveness towards love, misinterpretation and happiness in isolation litter the lyrics of '9' creating a introspective mood that suck you further into the lush atmosphere of Stephen's recordings.

BIRTH - LIVE IN TUCSON
Birth is the project of Grant Beyachau and Nik Rayne from The Myrrors who performed as Birth for this live improvisational performance in Tucson (USA). The performance was captured onto a handheld recorder (you can hear instrument leads buzz and cut out for a second here and there as things start up) as Birth, seated on the floor, journey towards a state of transcendence in front of a small but appreciative audience. Taking cues from Terry Riley, LaMonte Young as well as Spacemen 3 ('Dreamweapon'), minimalist artists who offer no concessions to the listener except to surrender yourself to the drone. Grant creates swirling cyclic passages via analogue synthesizer and tape machine loops as Nik conjures subliminal notes via guitar and space echo. Over 25 minutes they create an experience of devotional music influenced by Middle Eastern and Sufism cultures, as notes bleed and swirl together in a lysergic haze. Its fluidity is its greatest strength as the piece offers no navigation points - all they ask is that through a mixture of drone, repetition and simple melodies that you surrender yourself to the trance-like and hallucinatory delirium created. It is captivating. 'Live In Tucson' is a one off 300 pressing - all black vinyl. Housed in a 350gsm sleeve and given a private press like presentation via the sleeve and labels. BLACK HOLES ARE CANNIBALS - SURFACER
Acid Test Records and Little Cloud Records are proud to present to you the debut LP from Black Holes Are Cannibals: 'Surfacer'.
Formed around the uber talent of Chris Jude Watson (founder of Snakes Don't Belong In Alaska) who in BHAC found a band to take his vision to the outer most limits. BHAC are a collective with a varying line and each time they record all the music is improvised as they let their collective and innate abilities guide them, but what does bind them are the touchstones of drone and minimalism that runs through the music they create or just plain HEAVY. Call them drone metal or psychedelic, it matters not as the music created is an immersive, all consuming and thought-provoking transcendental listening experience that awaits those brave enough to take the ride with BHAC. 'Surfacer' was recorded at First Avenue Studios in Newcastle by the band using a TASCAM DR40 and is the embodiment of pent-up emotions gathered and endured during lockdown as they zap out every ounce of feeling and anguish into this recording. 'Surfacer' is not an album for the faint of heart with 2 long tracks of transcendence that will challenge and push you to lose yourself in the sonic experience of the timbre/vibrations of droning instruments and throat vocalisations as BHAC weave together mesmerizing waves of sonic texture. 'Surfacer' draws influence from bands like Neptunian Maximalism, Qujaku, Neurosis and the visual work of Andrei Tarkovsky, Kenneth Anger and Larisa Shepitko which influence the energy and darker sounds of the music while still taking influence from more traditional psychedelic sounds and experimental places like Taj Mahal Travellers, Suzuki Junzo, Pauline Oliveros, Vahvistusharha, and Toru Takemitsu aurally and visual energies from occult works like Jodorowsky's 'The Holy Mountain', Helena Blavatsky and Hilma Af Klint's 'Alterpieces 1-3'. As Terence McKenna might have said - BHAC are best experienced when listened to in complete solitude in a dark room while you are doing nothing else. To experience this album to the fullest, you must not have any distractions. Just sit down, relax, plug in, and let this album take you up into outer space.

BLOOD QUARTET - ROOT 7
Pioneer of the New York No Wave with the bands Mars and Don King, Mark Cunningham has been part of the Barcelona music underground for almost 30 years, performing solo, with his own groups Raeo, Convolution, Aleatory Grammar and Bèstia Ferida, as a member of Pascal Comelade's Bel Canto Orchestra and Superelvis, and in countless local and international collaborations. Blood Quartet was formed in early 2015 in Barcelona from a fortuitous collaboration between Cunningham and Catalan underground rock trio Murnau B. An outstanding musical treat that starts from the instrumental base of the modern jazz quartet and takes it to the territory of experimentation and electronics. Blood Quartet sound more luminous and rhythmic than ever, diving into uncharted terrain. This results in an exceptional range of genres that play with the form between the classic and the contemporary, and that extend the creative spectrum of the band towards new styles, such as krautrock and North African music. The result of this process has given rise to nine themes, each one baptized with the title of a literary work by some reference writers of the members of the quartet, in order to add more roots of meaning, more shadows of influence. Co-release between Cardinal Fuzz and Feeding Tube. Limited to 500 copies.

DEAD SEA APES - REWILDING
Repress on white vinyl. Dead Sea Apes are back with a passion to deliver their most essential and cohesive album to date. Formed in 2009, Dead Sea Apes have become a fixture of the psych scene, sharing stages with the likes of Part Chimp, The Heads, Acid Mothers Temple and Mugstar while producing a distinctive body of work, ranging from psychedelic punk to experimental dub, from freeform jams to constructions of loops and drones. Following a slew of collaborations and split releases, 'Rewilding' sees them return to a power trio of Brett Savage (guitar), Jack Toker (bass) and Chris Hardman (drums). From the chaotic blast of opener 'Denialist,' beaming out like a maniacal emergency broadcast, through to the monolithic pounding of the title track, 'Rewilding' is unrelenting, taking in blown-out guitar wails and jet black psych noise while the irrepressible rhythm section moves from claustrophobic motorik beats to a thunderous rolling juggernaut. These blackened pearls have been recast and refined over the course of the past three years, strung out deeper than the night and now embodying our present uncanny, disorienting times, as we emerge into an altered world to find Mother Nature reasserting herself while the human madness intensifies, locally and globally. Savage and uncompromising, this is Dead Sea Apes their most direct and visceral.

DEAD SEA APES/THE BAND WHOSE NAME IS A SYMBOL - LUNAR MANSIONS/PANTHEON OF FUCKERY III
Repress of 100 copies on hot pink vinyl, order fast, we only get a few! A long time in the making but good things always come to astral travellers as transatlantic soul mates Dead Sea Apes and The Band Whose Name Is A Symbol are joined together on black vinyl for the first time. Two artists that for over the last ten years (& longer) have spent their lives creating music that defies easy categorizations - psych rock/kraut rock/minimal/maximal/avant/free are phrases that only give you fleeting glimpses of what each artist represents. What we do know is that via a sprawling range of sound that is always uncompromising these two artists have pushed each other into a stunning realm of alchemy. The Dead Sea Apes create a hypnotic pulsing sound that weaves an ecstatic line starting from a raw minimal buzz and hum that takes in eastern modes and entrancing minimalism. The music is at once dissonant and hypnotic, rich with unfurling drones that dynamically ebb and flow as a searching interplay between instruments slowly emerges from a sparse open field and builds with the tension of a looming thunder storm. The Band Whose Name Is A Symbol recording is a live recording from the farmland in Richmond this year when Mr Cardinal Fuzz journeyed across the Atlantic Ocean to have his brain well and truly fried by these Ottawa acid punks. For this show TBWNIS was expanded to a 9 piece with the addition of Saskatoons Christopher Laramee (Shooting Guns, Wasted Cathedral, The Switching Yard..) and Mrs. Carol Lane (Resin Scraper/Beld). TBWNIS emerged to play as the Sun set over the never-ending Horizon and the Mozzies came out to play - And proceeded to lay down a barrage of high energy, free flowing ecstatic blues - like an endorphin spike into your cortex that felt like your head was sandwiched between the amplifiers as wave after wave of unrelenting free flowing orgasmic energy exploded within. Take note I was on some home made cookies that had me well and truly blasted as I merged with the universe and the vibrations emitting from the stage - it was a good place. 500 pressing. Black vinyl with a Brett Savage sleeve design based on the famous and much loved bootleg label - TAKRL.

GURUGURU BRAIN |
DHIDALAH - SENSORIA
Where is space? Is it in our brain? Or is it outside the planet Earth? Dhidalah poetically answers the question with their 2022 album 'Sensoria.' The two songs 'Soma' and 'Black Shrine' are from their weekly jam session in Tokyo. The band leader Gotoh usually records these sessions and shares it with the other 2 members Masahito aka Bin and Ikuma. After listening to the jam recording, they each get inspired by the flow of sounds and find a connection to the outside world. In the following week and with their own understanding, they try to recreate the (essence of the) jam. 'Invader Summer' and 'Dead' (track 2 and 3) are written by Ikuma, who is known to be a natural space head guitar monster with his own interpretation of space. The last 20-minute long 'Black Shrine' was inspired by the Japanese folklore Yokai, the spiritual and sometimes shapeshifting creatures living in the dark mountains of Japan. Space is free space, 'Sensoria' is a thoughtful, supernatural example of a Japanese trio space. How is your space like? Deep in the middle of the night, or in bright daylight, in the smallest of rooms, to the vastness of the forest, listening to 'Sensoria' will open you up to a new sense/kind of space.

DIRE WOLVES - EASY PORTALS
In the autumn of 2022, the core of DWLVS got together for a recording session at Santo Studios in Oakland, CA, the same studio that birthed the three most recent DWLVS albums, 'Grow Towards The Light' (Beyond Beyond Is Beyond), 'I Just Wasn't Made For These Set Times' (Centripetal Force), and 'Paradisiacal Mind' (Feeding Tube/Cardinal Fuzz). Because of the pandemic and members relocating from San Francisco's Bay Area to points all over the globe, DWLVS hadn't played together, or even seen each other in person, since their 2019 European tour. Band organizer Jeffrey Alexander had moved to Philadelphia, drummer Sheila Bosco set off for Amsterdam, and violinist Arjun Mendiratta had moved to the more remote confines of Northern California, leaving only bassist Brian Lucas in the immediate Bay. Like their last gathering at Santo in 2018, this 2022 session resulted in hours of rich material, the first of which is coming to light with 'Easy Portals.'
Outside of an odd cover song or two, DWLVS' material has always been centered on improvisation and spontaneous composition. The making of 'Easy Portals' was certainly no exception to this practice. And while the group's layoff was long, their penchant for meditative and intriguing long form compositions has only strengthened in the interim. Even upon initial listen, you will hear the familiar tone and timbre of DWLVS. However, on this album there is also found a darker and more progressive slant to their communal approach, possibly the result of those pandemic days. Or the current geo-political state of the world. Or both. Whatever the case, and as reflected by the artwork, 'Easy Portals' transports DWLVS to another musical dimension. Consistent with their practice of collaborating with other artists, DWLVS was sure to include friends new and old to the 2022 recording session. 'Easy Portals' sees the return of Taralie Peterson (Spires In The Sunset Rise, Tekla Peterson) on saxophone, as well as the arrival of J. Lee and Marina Lazzara (both of the San Francisco band The Rabbles, as well as Warm Spell, which also includes Brian Lucas). Lee, who plays farfisa organ and modular synth, and Lazzara, who offers voice and percussion, are a defacto Keith and Donna to the DWLVS lineup and serve as a key element in setting the tone for the sonic portals that lay before you. Enjoy the journey. Co-release by Centripetal Force (North America), Cardinal Fuzz (UK), and Ramble Records (Australia).

E GONE - ADVENTURES BEFORE THE BODY
E Gone is Daniel Westerlund from Stockholm, Sweden, and 'Adventures Before The Body' is his long-awaited latest excursion into cosmically earthy musical alchemy, rounding out a trilogy of albums begun in 2013 with 'All The Suns Of The Earth,' and continuing with 'Advice To Hill Walkers' in 2016 (both also released by Deep Water Acres and Sunrise Ocean Bender). Musically, 'Adventures...' builds on its predecessors' eclecticism and love of sonic juxtapositions - astute psychedelic guitar lines swirled together with exotic instrumentation and modal motifs, rock riffs alongside ethnic percussion and old-school beats, drones and atmospheric effects blending into electronic deep dives. A pair of songs bring back Westerlund's vocals, though the overall compositional logic scales up from the shorter instrumental pieces on 'Advice...' into more progressive territory (most notably the 14-minute title track). As that suggests, 'Adventures...' also extends the triptych conceptually - if 'All The Suns...' was about waking up and breaking free, and 'Advice...' was a metaphorical travel guide of diverse vignettes, 'Adventures...' is about expansion or explosion, whether outwards or inwards; evoking, in the man's own words, 'a feeling of vertigo in the vastness of the universe...' That said, deep philosophical musings are in no way necessary to appreciate the sheer enjoyment within 'Adventures...' grooves. These are songs and sounds of mystery and wonder, as sonically experimental as they are melodically accessible, taking form somewhere outside of conventional genre lines... An album of shifting textures and formidable scope that rewards attentive ears and repeat listening. Limited to 250 copies on black vinyl. Co-release with Feeding Tube Records.

FIREFRIEND - DECREATION FACTS
Repress of 100 copies on clear vinyl, only a handful available! Decreation is the undoing of creation, something destructive and primal and that Firefriend carry through on all the twelve songs written for this LP. 'Decreation Facts' injects you with a liquid paranoia for their dark conjuring's that is hugely dark and foreboding - Julia and Yury's uber cool stoned and detached delivery creates a seriously dark menace with Julia's delivery having echoes of Nico - all the while THAT claustrophobic reverb and tremolo encloses and swirls around the inside of your head and vibrates your inner core. This is HEAVY shit. 'Decreation Facts' is an unsettling sonic fuck you to those that seek to destroy this planet for their love of money and power and we think it is a stunning achievement. As Terence McKenna might once have said - 'Firefriend should be consumed alone, in the dark, in silence, with your eyes closed.'

GANDALF (USA) - GANDALF
Reissue of Gandalf's 1969 self-titled release. Recorded at Century Sound in Manhattan with Grammy-winning producer Brooks Arthur (who engineered Neil Diamond's 'Sweet Caroline' and Van Morrison's 'Brown Eyed Girl'), the production of the album was created on the spot in the studio with arrangements being thrown about and the incredibly haunted vocals being recorded directly from the band's PA using a Binson Echorec to make this innovative sound (Pink Floyd later used the same echo unit to great effect). Add to that sitars, vibes, B3 organs, harpsichord, minor tragic guitar chords, and bass drones aplenty, and you've got the recipe for an album that bears listening to with eyes closed, music cranked, mind open.
So get in on the beauty of this record, and as Sando says on the liner notes: "Put the needle in the groove, sit back, and take the trip with GANDALF." Comes on clear vinyl.

GOLDENROD - GOLDENROD (IT)
The Vietnam war, the excruciating motto 'turn on, tune in, drop out', all of a sudden we were in a new era, just across the lysergic exploitation and the political turmoil. The self-titled album by American trio Goldenrod was released on a small run in 1969 on the enigmatic Chartmaker. An instrumental album full of extended and improvised jam recorded in their hometown of Los Angeles. It comprises of just four tracks, enough for an essential trip. Titles such as 'Karmic Dream Sequence' and 'Descent Of The Cyclopeans' offers a new exploratory vision, between the past and the future. Goldenrod was a rare metaphysical drug experience you wouldn't miss again! All three band members met while playing behind The Fifth Dimension and they had earlier played with Ballroom who were a pre-The Millennium-Sagittarius band. After all the three members became all of a sudden top LA session men. Jerry Scheff went on to play with The Millennium (the Californian super group led by Curt Boettcher, basically consisting of psychedelic rock musicians) while Ben Benay appeared in the blues-rock outfit Funzone in the seventies.

H.P. LOVECRAFT - H.P. LOVECRAFT II
Repress. The 2nd chapter, yet a revelation. Released on Philips in 1968, right after their '67 self titled album this iconic psych-folk masterpiece still detain a refreshing and revelatory approach. HAWK - AFRICAN DAY (PINK)
"It's dark and still in the chief's village protected by mountains of the great southern regions of Africa..." so begins the seventeen minute epic 'African Day' that kicks off the greatest Afro-psychedelic concept album ever made - first released on Parlophone in 1971. Hawk's music on this epochal album is a fusion of tribal African rhythms with acoustic hippie music elements - long solo jams, saxophone breaks, percussion - sounding at times like an African version of Embryo fronted by Tim Buckley! In Johannesburg, bursting, like Durban, with musicians aeons ahead of their time, Hawk added the sunburnt, brown prairies of Africa to the genre of the concept album - the heady, steady beat of drums, and enough cross-rhythms to make you dizzy. Add the mesmerizing voices - and the telling of a story. Tuck in the ranging flute, the saxophone. The deep bass buzz. And the hypnotic talking drums. Music the African way: earthy stuff - virile, extraordinary, substantial. Hawk were listening to a lot of Hugh Tracey tapes (the Afro-musicologist who travelled Africa capturing sounds and music on tape for posterity). They went to Swaziland and came back with their own sounds: drums and a burning desire to make their own brand of African music. From all of this came 'African Day.' The Lion/RTA reissue comes with an LP-sized 12-page booklet which includes a complete band history by music writer Owen Coetzer, packed with photos, plus the story of the re-discovery of the multi-track master tapes and the transfer of those newfound tapes that resulted in this very reissue.
The Lion exclusive edition is limited to 150 hand-numbered copies on transparent strawberry pink vinyl.

HERBCRAFT - TRASH HEAP
In the fall of 2012, Matt LaJoie began work on a set of lo-fi solo 4-track cassette home recordings that were intended to become Herbcraft's fourth album, 'Wot Oz'. As a bridge from the full-band Woodsist debut 'The Astral Body Electric', the songs and sketches of the Highland Ranch year represented a quickly and vastly shifting world of sonic inspiration: heavy Japanese psych, American free-jazz and proto-punk, and heady Velvet Underground bootlegs supplanted the flowing, folky, hippie-cult jams of yore. Several songs and sketches from this era were demoed and scrapped before the band's trio lineup solidified around drummer/producer Aaron Neveu and bassist/organist Joe Lindsey in summer 2013 to record 'Wot Oz' proper. Meanwhile, the 4-track cassette masters and crudely mixed 2-track bounce tapes from Highland Ranch were trucked from home to home in more than a dozen moves since 2013, eventually becoming lost in a mislabeled box for a couple years before finally being found in March. Now digitally transferred, remastered, and finished where left incomplete seven years ago, this previously apocryphal book of the Herbcraft story is being shared for the first time.

HUMAN HAND - TREMORS
The Human Hand live combo comprises Joe Hollick (Wolf People - Jagjaguwar Records, solo), Karl Eden (John Peel favourites tRANSELEMENt) and Jonathan Dickin (MUMS, Honey Spider, Bleak).
Joe and Karl met at an Acid Mothers Temple show in 2012 before realising they both lived minutes away from each other in neighbouring sleepy Lancashire Pennine villages. They performed a number of shows together as a wig-out loose improv duo channelling heavy motorik grooves, Anatolian suffused lead lines, a general layer of Northern skuzz tied together with Joe's signature guitar work. Early HH recordings were juxtaposed by being captured at extremely low volume due to necessity as the only available opportunity was to work on material late at night to avoid waking their young children. Human Hand were augmented and given a live makeover by the addition of Jonny (MUMS, Honey Spider, Bleak) on drums, a former student of Karl's and all round music and literary geek. The trio recorded their debut LP 'Tremor' in a hasty 8 hour session, with a vinyl release on Cardinal Fuzz recordings in the UK, and Feeding Tube in the US. Limited to 500 copies.

JENS - BE AS GOOD TO OTHERS AS THEY ARE NOT TO YOU
'Be As Good To Others As They Are Not To You' starts as a mystery. A piece of tangible vinyl with often transient and evanescent content; sound appearing and fading such that you can lose certainty as to whether it emanates from the record or from out in the street. The music measured and atmospheric; a rural psychedelia on the cusp between folk and country; gnomic lyrics, meditating on loss as a stage in the cycle of nature, with a strong impression of a patient, unforced gestation.
The sleeve has a stark beauty; the front being a fine piece of John Hurford frontier art, akin to that of Jeff Horsey's 'Rattlesnakes And Heartstrings.' There is no legend and nothing on the spine either. The back shows two rustic, bearded gentlemen with small guitar, a pump organ, and an ancient zither; there are song titles but they're barely decipherable.
This pair are Jens Unossun and Arne Jonasson. Jens is a founder member of The Spacious Mind, a notable Swedish ensemble who, for nigh on three decades, have been releasing memorable psychedelic music. They famously accompanied Tom Rapp, of Pearls Before Swine, at his Terrastock appearance in London in 1999. Jonasson is a regular collaborator with Jens on such side-trips as The Holy River Family Band. They're the sole performers on six of the eight tracks here; Jens singing and playing keyboards, Arne on various stringed instruments, and both adding percussion. The other two - 'Sweet Home Blues (Redneck Dumbfuck Blues)' and 'Green Was The Day (Bottom Of The Well)' - see them joined by the Head Country Hoedowners - Snosun and Aarnson Jones, Black Owl, and Dave Hell - and the presence of these acclaimed purveyors of outlaw mutation boogie signal changes in mood. The Jones Brothers also serve as producers and arrangers.

JOSEPH OF KIREZI - THE ONLY WAY OUT IS THROUGH (BLEEDING JAM VOL
Joseph Of Kirezi were formed in Ikebukuro (Tokyo) in 2012 wherever since they have been roaming the outermost corners of the black clad psychedelic underground. So please get ready to treat your ears to 'The Only Way Out Is Through' - a pounding tour de force of amp destroying killer fuzz wah sike rock. If there was ever music to be played in that killer sixties exploitation movie - in that biker club scene where every one has been spiked with the brown acid and the bad trip is coming on strong - then this is the music that would be playing - a pounding and ferocious white noise psychedelic nightmare. We are not dealing with any subtle intricacies here, just the joy in the classic combination of excess volume and repetition - crushing levels of heaviness all enveloped in a white noise fury. Taking cues from kindred spirits such as High Rise, The Stooges, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Amon Düül II, Spacemen 3, The Heads - music for freaks in the know - prepare to vibrate as you TURN ON, TUNE IN, FREAK OUT! JOYNES, C - POOR BOY ON A WIRE
Over the last decade-and-a-half, C Joynes has ploughed a singular furrow through solo guitar, with a body of work incorporating English folk-tunes alongside North and West African music, and lifting proto-minimalist and improvised techniques from the European classical and avant-garde traditions. 'Poor Boy On The Wire' is his first full album dedicated wholly to the electric guitar. Through a typically wide-ranging set, Joynes exploits the instrument's potential by placing intricate parlour music alongside overdriven garage blues throw-downs, wiry electric folk and the brittle ringing tones of free improvisation. However, these explorations of the tones and timbres of close-mic'd guitars and amplification retain an overall coherence and unity through the deliberate use of a limited palette of budget instruments and vintage equipment. Limited to 250 copies on black vinyl.

LAIR - NGELAR
LAIR (pronounced "lah-eer," a local dialect for the Indonesian word of 'lahir', meaning `birth' or, roughly 'being born') is a 6-piece psych-soul/funk outfit hailing from Jatiwangi, West Java, Indonesia. In 'Ngélar,' the sextet's sophomore LP, deeper social narratives and more intimate subject matters are more apparent. In which they speak a lot about 'tanah' or 'land/soil,' owing a lot to the fact that their hometown, Jatiwangi's history of being the country's largest producer of clay/terracotta-based products. The people in Jatiwangi's intertwining relationship with 'tanah' is simply unparalleled... even their instruments are mostly made of terracotta. From the reimagining of their hometown's past glories, LAIR, along with singer/songwriter Monica Hapsari (who co-wrote and co-composed three songs in the album) and Go Kurosawa (Kikagaku Moyo) helming the project as the producer, sings about the rituals and traditions of harvest, to sending off prayers towards their once-prospering land and the ruins of what was once a dense forest in Jatiwangi, which they are currently trying to reclaim while racing with the massive wave of industrialisation. It is a contextually-sorrowful album as much as it is a candid, cheery commemoration of the band members' everyday life in today's northern shores of Java, Indonesia. Ngélar is one of the words that might be able to describe the essence of LAIR as a group. The word itself can be traced back to the locals' culture of 'going around in celebration of something.' In their village, ngélar simply means a traveling performance, in which the performers would play music and go around the village, greeting the people around them as they move from place to place, or simply within their immediate surroundings, indicating that there is something nearby that is being celebrated. LAIR is simply in love with 'journey,' 'time,' and all of their interactions. Ngélar, for them, is a representation of their journey. How they go around, interacting and communicating, to celebrating and making sense of everything that is going on within and around them. For LAIR, 'Ngélar' is a method, a creative process, and, as an album, a culmination of each of their journeys since the group's founding.

LUV MACHINE - LUV MACHINE
Formed in the tropical climates of Barbados 1967, The Luv Machine relocated to the UK in late 1968 to seek fame and fortune in those swinging times. The band started out playing the underground black soul clubs of the Midlands area. Their sound was a lot harder than the initial club circuit in which they were being booked. Influenced by Hendrix, Cream, Creedence Clearwater Revival and other more obscure hard rock bands of the time, Luv Machine managed to combine elements of both rock and soulful psych with a funky progressive groove. Added to this was a Caribbean vibe, which made them completely unique amongst rivals of the day. The band's self titled debut album that was released for Polydor in 1971, has become a much revered and collectable item amongst collectors and fans of the era. Unfortunately the band split before the album was actually released, which meant it was never actually given the publicity it surely deserved.

MENK - II
Menk hail from St. Petersberg, Russia and formed back in 2017 when like minded souls Yury and Kirill met at the underground venue Yury was running called 'Slam City.' A bond was forged as they bonded over a huge love of proto progressive (especially Sweden, Germany and the UK) and psych scenes from the halcyon years of 68-72. Menk take those influences and augments them with a sludgy, hypnotic sonic attack that takes in The Verve and Dead Meadow - where the ghost of Nick McCabe's trippy, mind bending playing seeps through the gauze that melds deep into the fabric of 'II.' Menk set out with the aim of taking the listener on the deepest of journeys - music made with no comprises - to create a pure spiritual experience, like seeing sunshine through a rainy cloud. This is the main connector of the songs Menk have created as they take you on trips from darkness to light. As the music came together - some tracks recorded on a Tascam porta studio in different places, fragments of jams recorded for the first ever time or tracks such as 'On Wet Roofs' - where Yury on purchasing his first lap steel recorded his playing near the river on what was a golden hour that soon became dark - it is all captured in the recording of this daydream of a track. Exploring textures, never standing still, new sounds and how instruments connect with each other, how harmonics complement each other, how songs change each other is the prism from which Menk views music and also the world. Menk embodies the modus behind archaeology: in order to move forward, it's sometimes necessary to look back. All we ask is that you prepare yourself to experience the sounds of 'II.' Co-release between Acid test (UK) and Clostridium (Germany). Limited to 350 copies on 2 colour swirl vinyl.

MIENAKUNARU - BLOOD SUN
After Mienakunaru's debut brain crusher 'Lost Bones Of The Holy Butterfly' that came via esteemed label Drone Rock Records (and reissued in the USA via Echodelick), Cardinal Fuzz and Feeding Tube Records bring you 'Blood Sun', a ferocious throb of of 3 people losing themselves in the beauty of fuzz, sizzle and noise. Mienakunaru are a throbbing face melting power trio made up of Mike Vest, Junzo Suzuki and Dave Sneddon and if we were to write up the list of bands these artists have been involved with there would be no room to write more. The list reads like a who's who of cult underground hardcore and psychedelic bands. For those that may not have been listening to anything associated with these leviathans of heady, psychedelic noise, what we have here is fuzz drenched, waster infused and pounding like jack hammer freak-outs. Over four tracks of which the title track takes up the whole of one side you are treated to forty minutes of heavy cosmic amplifier worship, where the hypnotic nature of the music created within, unfolds and time and space begins to distort. Prepare to have your body shaken as Mienakunaru lay waste. 500 copies on white vinyl.

The debut album by Mirror Revelations. Hailing from Toluca in Mexico and made up of multi-instrumentalists Gabriela Alcalá and Alam Castillo, 'Aura' is an album of hypnotically charged uber kraut beat dream pop music. While sampling more sounds from the street of Southeast Asia, including weddings, funerals, and traditional celebrations, Mong Tong again explores different folk sounds around Austronesia. Different to their last Guruguru Brain release 'Mystery,' 'Tao Fire' will take us to a land that is both familiar and fresh. Feel the hot, the crowd, humidity, and ecstasy. MORIWAKI, HITOMI - SUBTROPIC COSMOS
'Subtropic Cosmos' is the international debut album by Japanese artist Hitomi Moriwaki. Composed and recorded at her Fukuoka home during the worldwide pandemic between 2020-2022, the album was produced by Hideki Urawa, who has also worked with Kikagaku Moyo and other musical acts on Guruguru Brain. Hitomi Moriwaki is a multidisciplinary artist working with a wide range of mediums besides music, including: magazines, ceramics, digital art, and animation. 'Subtropic Cosmos' in particular is a wonderful work that conveys the "joy of making things" to listeners, as it is filled with various influences from her diverse activities. As suggested by the album title, most of the songs were created under the unprecedented conditions of corona - and as a result, were inspired by the consciousness of traveling through imaginary foreign lands and nature. As if adventuring through the universe inside of her own mind, Moriwaki's versatility is best experienced through her fearless fusion of hip-hop, pop and experimental music. Through a lens of psychedelic production by Hideki Urawa, this album is a truly special, one-of-a-kind space experience for listeners to enjoy and embark upon.

NAUJAWANAN BAIDAR - KHEDMAT BE KHALQ (RED)
Repress on red vinyl. Iconoclastic Afghan-American street music project Naujawanan Baidar makes its long anticipated return with 'Khedmat Be Khalq,' its third album and first new release in three years. Originally planned as a "studio debut" in the classic sense, a veritable avalanche of setbacks tangled and delayed the recording process over a span of several years as compounded tragedies - both international and personal - disrupted the project's intended transition from simply being a ramshackle demo/home-recording outlet for founder N.R. Safi (The Myrrors, et al) into a properly working band. At the end of the day the process of assembling what would eventually become "Khedmat Be Khalq" became a lot like that of the previous two releases: gnarled and sun-baked tracks cut up and collated into a blown out collage of sound. If there is any obvious difference this time around it is perhaps to be found in the increased focus of the material. Whereas the group's previous two projects ran the gamut from sparse acoustic improvisations to tape-loop-inspired noise, 'Khedmat Be Khalq' presents a more unified hybrid of Afghan folks styles and electric energy, further exploring Safi's "maximalist minimalism" approach. Tape-saturated and over-amplified Afghan rubab, armonia, and ghichak meet pounding multi-layered rhythms that at times hint at 1970s-1980s industrial music or the heady throb of German krautrock groups like Faust or Amon Düül. Perhaps nowhere is this unique combination more striking than in Naujawanan Baidar's swirling re-arrangement of the Afghan folk classic 'Raftim Az Ayn Baagh' that closes the album. The rubab melody that serves as the song's core is warped into something that in all honesty wouldn't sound particularly out of place spun between early Savage Republic and Crash Worship. Lyrically the album moves away from the more abstract and impressionistic style of Safi's earlier material towards a concrete attempt to address the struggle of the Afghan masses from the complicated perspective of the international diaspora. The songs here work to draw out and examine the contradictions and challenges faced by a people once again locked in the talons of a sociopathic religious fundamentalism, connecting the country's position to the current global fight against imperialism, militarism, and resurgent fascism, and attempting to recover obscured historical fragments and lessons surrounding the proud radical history of Afghanistan's diverse population over countless decades of intensive struggle. It is here that Naujawanan Baidar's "street music" aesthetic blossoms into a sort of avant garde agitprop - a militant soundtrack angling at a revolution.

NEST EGG - DISLOCATION
'Dislocation' carries on where 'Nothingness Is Not A Curse' left off, only more so. 6 more humming tracks of cacophony. Nest Egg's music builds, ebbing and flowing, searching for its own space. Peaks and troughs, lefts and rights, highs and lows, noise and silence. Nest Egg deals in krautrock wizardry. Songs are built upon repetition and drone, all sheltered within a hive of buzzsaw guitars and analogue synths. No sound is wasted, space is the place, songs will evolve and grow for as long as they need to. There is organisation in chaos. Mood music for nihilists indeed.

NICELY, NICK - AFTERWORLD (BLACK)
Nick's fifth album, 'Afterworld,' takes a dive into the hidden world behind the curtain in his legendarily eternal track completion processes; these vintage demos and outtakes show parts of labyrinthine creative journeys, sometimes taking up to eight years to complete, giving the sense of the man hallucinating with songs in an eerily separate universe.
Persuading Nick away from his studio to dig through bin-liners of ancient material has not been straightforward, but FdM are delighted to present this uniquely psychedelic collection - and they look forward to further editions!

OLD MILLION EYE - THE AIR'S CHRYSALIS CHIME
'The Air's Chrysalis Chime' is the second LP from Old Million Eye, primarily a solo project of Brian Lucas (Dire Wolves). This beautifully transcendent and deeply explorational album
sees Lucas widening his spectral and woozy palette to include musical contributions from Gayle Brogan (Pefkin/Burd Ellen), Steven R. Smith, Sheila Bosco (Dire Wolves), and Jeff
Jefferson (3 Moons/The Lodestones). The album's darker more drifting songs, 'Ruby River' and 'Tales From Copperopolis' feature the vibrational voice of Georgia Carbone, erstwhile vocalist of Dire Wolves. Lucas and Carbone's eerie vocal duet on the lengthy 'Ruby River' is stunningly haunting and unexpected. This mysteriously anomalous album utilizes such elements as tape collage, improv jazz type drumming, clarinet, Brogan's melodica, intertwining basses, piano, treated violin, and Lucas's 'Scenes From The South Island'-like plaintive skeletal guitar playing that is sure to tickle the ear into quiet hysterics, if not downright rearranging the ear to accommodate a new form of hearing! The listener should expect the usually oddly crafted and layered sound combinations as
evidenced on previous OME releases. These sonic elements are a vehicle for Lucas's softly placid tenor, but with added dimensions his purely solo work only alludes to. This album
isn't "psychedelic" in the sense of spacey, wah-wah riffs: it's far more subtle, detailed, and delicate in terms of its transcendent properties, but the invitation is there to climb into the chrysalis and be transformed. (Byron Coley 2022). Pressed in an edition of 300 copies on black vinyl. Co-release with Feeding Tube Records.

OLSON, RICHARD -& THE FAMILIARS- - RICHARD OLSON & THE FAMILIARS (BLACK)
Last copies. Welcome to the debut album by Richard Olson & The Familiars, an LP full of dreamy harmony laden melancholy and, dare we say it, singer songwriter pop music - though pop music in the sense that each track is a gorgeous ear worm that you can wrap yourself in and within. Richard was a member of the now-legendary Eighteenth Day Of May, before forming The See See who would then evolve into the much loved and revered The Hanging Stars. On Richard's debut LP we are treated to a record full of lush harmonies, acoustic guitars and strings as well as Richard's most personal and reflective writing, songs that are full of a hazy warmth and yearning that superbly capture the feel and sound that lies somewhere between The Byrds (think 'Easy Rider') and The Clientele. The plaintive gorgeousness of opening track 'I Can't Help Myself' reflects the heart-rending, deep feeling that flows throughout the whole of Richard Olsen and The Familiars debut LP. Richard has a great, expressive voice, capable of switching from harmonious and melodic to world-weary within a single song. Air is especially affecting and effective - gorgeously near-ambient kaleidoscope vibe of whispered vocals with pedal steel and slide guitar. 'I'm A Butterfly' blends a sumptuous bouncy riff with harmonica and tambourines into a hazy dream of pop perfection. 'Inside Sunshine' is the perfect song to close the LP, lilting into the sunset as Richard creates an wonderous retro hued filter - a filmic paean to love with Luke Barlow's flute playing adding to the trance created.

OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY - OUT THERE IN THE DARK (25TH ANNIVERSARY)
First time on vinyl. Originally released via the DF2K (the contemporary sister label of Del-Fi, one of the classic labels of the '50s and '60s (Richie Valens/Bobby Fuller) and in Europe via Poptones (the label Alan McGee (with Joe Foster) set up after the sale of Creation Records - just to give you some idea of the high upon high esteem this LP was held in. While earlier records shared a love of The Turtles, The Troggs, Television Personalities (among a host of other stuff) - 'Out There In The Dark' feels like Eno and Hawkwind filtered through Petula Clark's hit singles and all Spectorized via Matthew Smiths wonderful analog production. Recorded at Jim Diamond's Ghetto Recorders Studio and making use of a huge ancient reel to reel machine (affectionately called 'Laurel and Hardy') that provides that superb tape echo effect employed across this LP. Like Guided By Voices, Outrageous Cherry's affection for this kind of music never sounds retro, and their experimental touches make 'Out There In The Dark' play like a jukebox full of forgotten hits, a time machine with its controls set for the past and the future. Across 13 tracks sweet melodies and harmonies soar over a vicious urban Motor City guitar workouts. Motown-fueled bass and drums throb hypnotically as Matthew Smith sings as though Brian Wilson had been an honorary Ramone.
Beatle-esque pop numbers like 'Tracy,' 'Corruptable,' and the made-for-AM radio 'Where Do I Go When You Dream?' balancing moodier songs like the album's narcotic centerpiece, 'Easy Come, Uneasy Glow.' (dig that phasing). Their trippy side comes to the forefront on the excellent, backwards guitar driven 'Only The Easy Way Down,' as Larry Ray's solos cut like a jagged knife and in the title track's drifting guitars and shifting tempos. Smith's ultra-faithful, vintage production style sparkles on 'A Bad Movie' The album closer 'There's No Escape From The Infinite' ends in a trance-inducing guitar apocalypse that would make Spacemen 3 and The Jesus And Mary Chain proud. And jealous. Black vinyl with 4 page folded insert and gloss laminated outer sleeve. Co-release with Feeding Tube Records.

PARADES AGAINST PARADES - DRIVING ME STONED
Parades Against Parades were formed around Saskatoon's (Canada) punk rock and indy scenes where the four teenagers exploded into their own, playing furiously and as often as possible to many riotous dance parties. These recordings though capture the band as they left behind their volatile and Wire-ish style into something more wasted and decadent as Chris Laramee bullied his way into the band on third guitar duties. Playing on the turntable was Spacemen 3, The Gun Club, Howlin' Wolf as the bands playing became more ragged and maybe sloppy but infused with feeling and bravado. A sound more wasted - like a mushroom infused Rolling Stones via the whips of the Velvets where broken strings, amps and bottles couldn't wake them from the spell as buzzsaw guitars slasjed the jugular in these recordings. Suck it in kids please. Limited to 200 copies worldwide. Comes with band history insert via Chris Laramee and download code. Only few available, so order fast! Co-release with Klassik Go Disko.

2010 album now on vinyl! Pharaoh Overlord - masters of rigid hypnotic riffing and overlords of rock'n'roll repetition - surprise everybody on their latest offering by propelling themselves head first into three lengthy surreal partitures. Instead of the familiar avalanche of distortion and metronome-like drumming, Siluurikaudella offers a sound that has been stripped of all traces of rock music. Has the ever-present riff disappeared? Is it still buried somewhere beneath the unpredictable textures woven by three guitars, drums and bass? Are the results too obscure for rockers? Too avant-garde for jazz connoisseurs? PHARAOH OVERLORD - ZERO
Pharaoh Overlord steer an exceedingly singular course on this album. Augmented by Antti Boman (Demilich) and Hans Joachim Irmler (Faust), the psychedelic supergroup (consisting of members from Circle) have taken their oeuvre to a whole new psychiatric plateau on their ninth studio album. Libido-driven arithmetics do not apply on these aberrant tracks. 'Zero' provides an offbeat rock and roll implosion, with its sonic realm contorting inwards like a sapient voice muffled by the gentle void of cyberspace. What the album has to offer is exposure to genuine ingenuity.

PLASTIC CRIMEWAVE SYNDICATE - SPACE ALLEY
Plastic Crimewave Syndicate has finally returned with a wide-ranging/raging album - recorded two years ago in an expansive, benevolent alleyway in the midst of a dark, diseased, claustrophobic time of global chaos. This album, entitled 'Space Alley,' boldly travels into the relatively unexplored malevolent terrain of free doom, space/noise punk, and darkly dubbed-out library/soundtrack grooves (call it '70s crooked-cop show/freak-funk, if you must). This is all capped off with a sidelong, (beat of the) earth-harvesting modal exploration of synthed-out kraut-throb. With new bassist Rob Rodak (Dead Feathers) aboard, and guests like sax-skronk legend Taralie Peterson (Spires That In The Sunset Rise), flautist Sara Gossett (Spiral Galaxy), and synthlord Will MacLean (Protovulcan), new influences have seeped into PCWS's dystopian vision. The Syndicate have opened for revered deities like Nik Turner, Loop, Simply Saucer, Chrome, and Josefus; but now a more diverse and groovy array of past underground sounds like Skin Alley, Sound of Imker, Here and Now, Mann/Sharrock, Black Sun Ensemble, Parson Sound, and Schizo have influenced PCWS's journey. Recorded by Eric Block (Rhys Chatham, Sick Gazelle) of Rec Rooms studios, and mastered by Monster Magnet/Desert Sessions guitar god JP McBain, the mind-fry level is set to 11« on Space Alley! Co-release between Cardinal Fuzz and Lion Productions. Limited to 300 copies.

Pure Land Stars began as an exercise in improvisation involving David Johnson, Anthony Taibi, and Michael Dieter, all of whom are quite familiar with one another from their years together in White Manna. Their familiarity allowed these improvisations to quickly take on a life of their own and soon enough, with the help of Russ Thallheimer and Valerio Cosi on saxophone, an album took form. There are nods to krautrock on this album, not only in sound but also in tone, a distinct kind of ominous feeling reminiscent of the Cold War vibes often emanated by German groups in the 1970s. Considering the recent state of the world, this makes sense. It seems hard not to have an ominous feeling in one's periphery these days. Whereas White Manna's sound is primarily based in guitar, Pure Land Stars prioritizes synthesizers and drum machines, so much so that the members felt a new identity was warranted. With that said, those familiar with White Manna won't be too surprised with Pure Land Stars' direction, as there has been an increasing presence of synthesizers and electronic sounds over the past few years. And now it all exists in complete fruition.

REVERENDS - THE DISAPPEARING DREAMS OF YESTERDAY
Atlanta psych 5-piece Reverends drifted into our musical landscape in 2016 with a sole 7" pulsating with 'Psychocandy' fuzz called 'Dark Demon', then quickly followed up the hype with a full-length the same year. Titled 'Derealization Blues', it was immediately evident from the first note that these guys weren't just one-trick ponies. Cutting their teeth into the gospel comedown of Primal Scream, driving krautrock rhythms, Verve swagger and all the while maintaining that heaping helping of shoegaze godliness, Reverends became a lot of psych fans' new favorite group. Well, friends, they're back with a long-awaited follow-up titled 'The Disappearing Dreams Of Yesterday'. Comes on mint green vinyl. Only a handful available, so order fast.

RHYTON - KRATER'S CALL
By the time Rhyton unveiled 'Krater's Call' on Bandcamp in June of 2020, against the backdrop of a worldwide pandemic and the George Floyd demonstrations, four years had gone by since their last album, 'Redshift,' had been released. These 'Krater's Call' sessions were tracked in November of 2017 as mere improvisations. It was simply three guys getting together in the studio and doing what they loved to do - jam. This collection of songs, while clearly recognizable as Rhyton's ever evolving brand of psychedelic meanderings mixed with European, Middle Eastern, and other worldly folk leanings, is a version of Rhyton we hadn't quite heard before. The playing is quite loose and playful. Some of their past dissonance has been exchanged for warmth. Years of experimentation has led to a familiarity that allows each musician to open spaces in their playing and fall into comfortable grooves. They easily and effortlessly feed off each other's exploratory wanderings in ways that recall Can or even the Grateful Dead. All of this plays out in a very entrancing fashion, and sees the band flirting within the space between blissful heady daydreaming and the desire to, gulp, dance - something they continue to develop and carry over to 2021's 'Pharaonic Crosstalk.'

SHANKAR, ANANDA - SA-RE-GA MACHAN
Nephew of world-famous sitar player Ravi Shankar, Ananda made an important impact in the '70s psychedelic scene by combining Western electronics and Indian music in order to create stunning instrumental jams. The jungle safari-tinged Sá-Re-Gá Machán was released in 1981 but still maintaining a certain soundtrack feel to it, more akin to previous decade excursions. Still a magical clash of eastern and western musical dichotomy.

SLOW DAWN - INTO THE MACHINE HAUS
Slow Dawn is from Ottawa, Canada and have spent the past few years honing their craft with a series of self released titles, including 2020's 'Experimental Farm,' a rather angst-ridden and raw display of sonic power. They are led by guitarist Dan Druff, formerly of Holy Cobras, and are rounded out by Chris DiLauro on drums and Jesse Winchester (Masss) on bass and synthesizer. The band draws influence from the darker edges of the musical spectrum and places a majority of their energy on filling empty voids with as much sound as possible. Slow Dawn is a cacophony of reverberating distortion, swirls of echoing vocals, droning horns, and a steady din of plodding drums. Whether it's Ottawa's grim and cold winters or simply a sign of the times, the band's sound is quite dystopian and is marked by a sense of solemn minimalism. It would be safe to say that with Slow Dawn, the glass is rarely half full. With six songs clocking in at about 22 minutes, 'Into The Machine Haus' moves quickly and efficiently through a range of territories that include post-punk, psych, krautrock, noise, and even a little bit of goth. It's a unique amalgamation of sound that demands attention. The band's influences are easily read but integrated in a way that they escape the dreaded "sounds like" tag. And, to their credit, there are no wasted moments or frivolous meanderings. Their approach is straightforward, primal, and succinct. In the case of this album, less is definitely more. Co-release with Centripetal Force, limited to 250 copies. Only a handful available here, so be fast.

SOFT HEARTED SCIENTISTS - WALTZ OF THE WEEKEND (3LP/BLACK)
Black vinyl version. After a long hiatus, Soft Hearted Scientists returned in 2023 with their most ambitious album yet, packed with psych pop singles and longer sound journeys such as 'Waltz Of The Weekend,' 'Anemone Song' and 'Lost Mariners.' And now it's time for the album to make its first appearance on vinyl, courtesy of Fruits de Mer Records. There have been glowing reviews of the CD album, but one comment summed up the progress the album represents for the band in simple terms: "The pop songs have got poppier, and the weird songs have got weirder." Producer Frank Naughton came into his own at the mixing stage and helped to graft newly written sections into some songs which gave them more depth. 'Rode My Bike' was one such song, and the middle section of that then took on a life of its own to become a standalone track called 'Gadzooks!,' probably the most over-the-top song they have ever released, tipping its hat to the Butthole Surfers' cover version of 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' and James Bond themes along the way. 'Who Loves The Moon?' grew from a few chords and a repeated refrain of about 2 minutes into an 8 minute multi- sectioned trip; similarly, 'Lost Mariners' grew from a short mantra into an 11 minute ghost story. The album finished with obsessive attention to detail in 2023 was vastly superior to the album band leader Nathan Hall and his fellow members tentatively started in 2019. And now Fruits de Mer Records are more than a bit pleased to be releasing 'Waltz Of The Weekend' on vinyl - SIX sides of it (we try not to do things by halves). In addition to the 12 tracks from the 75 minute CD edition, side five of the vinyl set includes three radical remixes of the songs 'Rode My Bike,' 'What Grows Inside The Garden' and 'The Sea Anemone Song' by producer Frank Naughton, while the final side contains a sidelong remix/remake of elements of the album by Frank who ripped the songs to bits with glee, free from Nathan Hall's album mix obsessiveness, and remade them as he wished without inhibition - what a trip.

SOULS OF INSPYRATION - THE SOULS OF INSPYRATION (ORANGE)
After nearly twenty years of work, finally a proper reissue of this sought-after album by The Souls Of Inspyration, first released on Columbia in 1970. Sought after, yes - and deservedly so, with stellar keyboard-driven, melodic songs, strong vocals, and an overall sense of cohesion. Terrific acoustic driven songs like 'Eyes Of Nature' and 'Sun Shines In The Winter' merge beautifully with hard-edged, progressive-tinged offerings like 'Dil Kusha (Heart's Happiness) and 'Of Lambs And Wolves.' The Souls Of Inspyration emerged from Sherbrooke, Quebec. They had two big breaks: they recorded this album with famed producer Don Grashey (49th Parallel, Jarvis Street Revue and yes, discoverer of Loretta Lynn!); and they were chosen for a two-week engagement at the Expo 70 Canadian pavilion for the 1970 World's Fair in Osaka, Japan. After Expo 70, the band were happy: they had been chosen the best band to represent their country, and had brought back a nice plaque signed by the people of Japan and Prime Minister Trudeau. They felt they were going somewhere. But it was not to be. Read all about why and how in the beautiful 12-page insert booklet. Now is the perfect time to discover this beautiful aberration, one of the unspoiled jewels of the late psychedelic era - on vinyl cut from 24-bit/96kHz transfers of the master tapes! Comes on orange vinyl.

SPINDRIFT - SONGS FROM THE ANCIENT AGE
This alvum covers the Spindrift's move from the East Coast to the West Coast (Delaware to LA) between the years 1999-2004. It marks a transference of styles from psychedelic pop, electro funk, and space rock to garage rock and spooky ethereal experimentation captured a la 'Adavan/Diazepam', then adds in the staple 'Red Reflection' which signifies the crossroads to their now big echoey western twang of a sound. Comes on "whiskey and blood" coloured vinyl. Only a handful available, so order fast.

SUN ALSO RISES - THE SUN ALSO RISES
Released in 1970 on the British cult label The Village Thing (owned by singer/songwriter Ian A. Anderson), the sole album by couple Anne and Graham Hemingway is a superb acid folk manifesto. Coming all the way from Cardiff, the duo has been described as a mystical, magical hippie small family. Alongside classic guitars, they played dulcimer, glockenspiel, vibes, bells, kazoo and small percussion, joined throughout by label-mate John Turner (bowed and finger-picked string bass) and Andy Leggett.

T2 - IT'LL ALL WORK OUT IN BOOMLAND
Although they only made one album, T2 created this genuine masterpiece in 1970 before they split up shortly after the album's release. Led by gifted teenage guitarist Keith Cross and featuring drummer Peter Dunton (ex-Gun and Bulldog Breed) and Bernard Jinks (ex-Bulldog Breed) this great record is up there with Caravan's third album, King Crimson's first and Fantasy's second as a UK '70s progressive psych monster. Based around the killer guitar work of Cross, the album features tight vocal harmonies, sweeping orchestration, and powerful complex arrangements.

TAJAK - LA SOMBRA DEL AGUA (2LP)
'La Sombra Del Agua' is the fourth studio album by Tajak. It was recorded in Coatepec, Veracruz, Mexico, from March till December 2020 during an isolated residency in the forest. The recording process was quite different from previous experiences. Former albums were recorded much quicker, in one or two days of studio sessions. In this latest album, aside from not being recorded in a studio, it was a much more patient, meticulous and intimate process. The main and intimate process. The maintracks (drums, bass and guitar) were recorded outdoors at the side of the Pixquiac river, a fact which is not very usual. After recording the main tracks, there were several weeks spent afterwards editing, recording overdubs and mixing. In this case a lot more instruments were used than they normally use. They kept the traditional bass, guitar, drums and vocals format, then added lots of layers of texture including field recordings, synths and other instruments like ocarina, sitar, flute, twelve string guitar, thunder drum and tape effects, the last one being a very important and special contribution from Pedro Tirado/Servicios Eléctricos. In the background you can hear the ambient sounds from the morning, afternoon and night at the cloud forest. It's the first Tajak album written completely in Spanish. The influence of the cloud forest was very present in the composition of the album. In many of the songs you can perceive the interactions and conversations between the music and the surrounding outdoors environment. The ending result are seven songs which start with solid structures that are eventually unassembled and molten into a soundscape of fractalic sounds that dance between the spacial and the earthly. Co-release by Little Cloud Records in the US, The Acid Test Recordings in the UK and Hole Records in Mexico. Limited to 350 copies on coloured vinyl.

TIN PAN ALLEY (GERMANY) - TIN PAN ALLEY
Tin Pan Alley were founded in 1978 in Germany. The band played progressive rock in the style of the early 1970s. In 1981, they recorded four tracks as a demo tape, but they did not manage to get the interest from a label. This also due to the fact, that music from the Neue Deutsche Welle was at its heyday. The album thus remained unreleased back then and after decades it finally sees an official release. Comes with an 8-page booklet.

VARIOUS - ST. ALBERT'S DREAM, VOL. 2
'LUCID ELECTRIC PROPHET' - A follow up to the highly rated 'St. Albert's Dream' compilation from 2013. Includes booklet with bios and rare pictures of the bands. Limited vinyl pressing of 600 copies. Heavy "dosed" psychedelia where The Prophet takes you to the depths of the unknown Acid Land. Twelve tracks from some of the deepest underground acts in North America, from the years 1968-1972. Plenty of raw fuzz, swirling effects, deep lyrics, heavy beats, and cool hooks from these mostly unknown heroes of this long past era of musical creativity. Sourced from micro-pressed 45's and unreleased master tapes, these songs have never been compiled on vinyl before. Hear wizardry from such acts as Osceola, Hindenburg Lyon, Ark, Merriday Park and others. The very detailed fantasy cover art evidently shows "The Prophet as he enters the mythical Valley Of The Stone Giants." And why not? Created for and by lovers of the mega-heavy and the ultra obscure.

VELDT - (CLEAR) ENTROPY IS THE MAINLINE TO GOD
Limited to 175 copies on clear vinyl. Only a handful available, so be fast! Performing since they were children, the Chavis brothers' musical roots lead back to the church and southern juke-joints, and listening to music that included gospel, Motown and Pink Floyd. The Veldt formed in the late '80s in Raleigh amongst the legendary North Carolina music scene of the time, initially signing with Mammoth Records - leading to a chain of major-label relationships (and major-label failures) that took the group across Europe and the U.S. playing shows with the likes of Throwing Muses, Pixies, Cocteau Twins, and Jesus & Mary Chain. The major labels' dependence on shake-and-bake musical formulas left the band to work with a variety of indie labels after the release of their 1994 LP 'Afrodisiac,' cited by Pitchfork as one of the top 50 shoegaze albums of all-time. After the release of 1998's 'Love At First Hate,' the band's last full-length album, The Veldt briefly changed their name to Apollo Heights and released the album 'White Music For Black People.' After a brief hiatus, the band returned under their original moniker with the 'The Shocking Fuzz Of Your Electric Fur - The Drake Equation' EP, and have been steadily releasing singles and EP's since. With a headlining tour beginning in August 2022, and the release of the full-length 'Entropy Is The Mainline To God,' (via Little Cloud Records/The Acid Test Recordings/5BC) The Veldt is demonstrating that they have no intention of slowing down.

WAPPENHALTER, EDGAR - EDGAR WAPPENHALTER
The long-awaited return of Steve Marreyt, the grandmaster of psychedelic dronefolk-soundcollages! Here he resurfaces with three long and impulsive tracks, mainly based on vocals and samples, but continuing the direct and messy approach that made his earlier releases so unique. The entire A-side is taken up by an acapella lamentation for the late Herman Bisschop, the Dutch artist who was a personal friend of Marreyt. The B-side thrives on samples, making it a more hectic, but at all times rewarding listen. This edition is limited to 150 copies, presented in a screenprinted sleeve. A free download coupon is included.

WASTED CATHEDRAL - ATMOSPHERIC HANGOVER
Following up on his acclaimed releases for Adhesive Sounds and Prairie Fire Tapes, Wasted Cathedral is the solo project of Saskatoon-based musician Christopher Laramee (Shooting Guns, The Switching Yard, The Radiation Flowers). 'Atmospheric Hangover' is a compilation of tracks from the last couple of years, engineered by Josh Rohs (who also contributes electronics on 'Freeway') and Barrett Ross and with Clayton Linthicum adding some divine acoustic guitar. On 'Atmospheric Hangover' Chris Laramee melds the vibe of extended disco edits, film music and endless drift, maybe if Flying Saucer Attack scored a Michael Mann crime flick it would sound like this? With pills, thrills and plenty of loops, 'Atmospheric Hangover' is some serious late night headphone ear message for all you insomniacs. 200 only vinyl pressing. Only few available here, so order fast.

YERBA MANSA - GRAVITY'S JOKE
As the heppest of you undoubtedly know, Yerba Mansa are Edwin Stevens (guitar and member of Irma Vep, Klaus Kinski, The Web Of Lies) and Andrew Cheetham (drums - Richard Dawson, Jane Weaver, Waterless Hilss) as well as both been members of Desmadrados Soldados De Ventura, ande purveyors of raging, mind-bending primitive garage infused Middle-Eastern free-rock psychedelia. Showcased here is Edwin's mesmerizing guitar playing, capable of conjuring sonic specters from thin air and Andrews limitless drumming, rooted in jazz and totally mesmerizing in fluidity and movement as contained within Gravity's Joke the grooves are some of the most fierce apocalyptic and heady jams you will hear this year. Yerba Mansa whirl up demonic raga meltdowns which showcase their individual chops and duo telepathy, the guitar vernacular is pure Sharrock/Flower/Quine - indeed the tuning sounds like it could be ostrich; while the drumming is more octopus. Side two is a near 20 minute mystical freak out, the whole shebang could and should implode at any time, but doesn't. It hangs together somehow as melodies appear out of the chaos as the title track relentlessly builds up to a shamonic climax, akin to stumbling across a Voodoun ritual in the American Plains late at night as your backbone tingles as though a demonic spirit has left the speaker cones and entered your soul. Sizzling, stifling and ever so slightly ear-scraping - this is a must for any lover of untamed music. This ain't an album, it's some kind of ritual.
