'Gathering Of The Legendary Elephant Monsters' is the natural evolution of G.O.L.E.M.'s musical vision: to modernize the tradition of a glorious past and create an imaginative sound, rich in references yet unique and unmistakable in its authorial traits. The album is based on tons of old organs, synthesizers, and electric pianos, melded into a boiling cauldron of tube amplifiers, aged woods from Ludwig and Rickenbacker, and dusty electric contraptions dreamt up by engineers on acid. Splitting their time between stage and studio, the group has spent the last two years refining their sound, shaping new ideas with the skill and awareness that only experience can bring. A long collective effort, where each member contributed fundamentally to the creative process, resulted in more complex and intricate tracks that both confirm and surpass the group's characteristic sound, elevating it to a higher level. The richness of the writing, the sophistication of the arrangements, the originality of the sound experiments, the technical prowess of the individuals, and the depth and musicality of the lyrics are the elements that stand out when listening to the six tracks on 'Gathering Of The Legendary Elephant Monsters.'

HARD STUFF - BOLEX DEMENTIA
Second and last album by Hard Stuff, originally released in 1973 on Purple Records. This time, the three-piece hard-rock group led by John Cann (Andromeda, Atomic Rooster...) and featuring John Gustafson on bass and Paul Hammond on drums, incorporate some cool funk-rock and experimental touches to their powerful sound. After touring with Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Captain Beefheart, Hard Stuff started recording their second album at A.I.R. studios with a few songs actually registered at De Lane Lea. Sadly, just before the LP was released, tragedy struck and Cann and Hammond were badly injured in a car crash in Belgium. Hammond took the worst part, having to stay for two months at the hospital. That was the end for Hard Stuff. "Hard Stuff's second album, the underrated 1973 platter 'Bolex Dementia' is perhaps a more accomplished and varied studio effort." ~Plastic Crimewave. Once the LP was out, I passed all the stems to my old pal/former bandmate and frequent collaborator Ajay Saggar (Bhajan Bhoy/King Champion Sounds/University Challenged) and asked him to remix it in a way that sounded nothing like the original record. It's a much more ambient and floaty affair - more Popol Vuh than Sun Ra - a full drift spread across two 22 minute suites. Heavy psychedelic progressive rock outfit Mojo & The Kitchen Brothers is a 5-headed omnium gatherum of young and eclectically inspired music freaks from Belgium that came together in 2021. Sharing their love of late '60s and early '70s heavy and progressive rock, as well as for their contemporary psych-rockers, Mojo is continually playing around with their bearings in the sonic whirlpool between past and present. With their sights racing past both sides, they manage to sound both assuringly familiar and arousingly strange. After the digital release of their EP 'Flaming Tiger Lizard' (2022) followed the vinyl release in 2023 through the Dutch record label Lay Bare Recordings. It is that same continuity and driving force that led the band to their debut full length album titled 'Mojo's Heavy Cream' in 2023 digital and on vinyl. This album presents an intriguing collection of all-original tracks that both clearly echo some of the band's major influences, like Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Wishbone Ash, and show the band coming together musically and finding their own voice. Indeed 'Mojo's Heavy Cream' displays some degree of maturation in Mojo's sound and vision, but this maturation is by no means final. The band leaves the door not just open, but blown off its hinges and burned to a crisp in the fires of their insatiable lust for more. Childlike enthusiasm, je m'en fous freedom and freaked out free-association are the cornerstones of Mojo's creative process, and as such, you can safely expect to hear more from these guys soon, because their next projects are already in the works.

'Mr. Compromise,' originally released as a tiny demo pressing on the custom Eden label (home also of other psych-folk rarities like Mourning Phase), showcases the versatile songwriting talent of Noble: jazzy-bossa pop, Kinks/Hollies/Byrds styled full electric numbers and haunting psychedelic folk not unlike Al Stewart or Incredible String Band. Featuring Keith's friend from the pre-Floyd days Rado Klose (one of the earliest members of Pink Floyd) on lead guitar. After the album release, Keith Noble dedicated his life to architecture and teaching and he also wrote several musicals. Sadly, he passed away in 2014. 'Crawling Wind' was released in 1981 on the Japanese Chaos International Series label and features the tracks 'Toujours Plus à l'Est,' 'Before The Heat' and 'Central Belgium In The Dark.' This is the first vinyl reissue of this legendary EP.
'Toujours Plus à l'Est', as the title suggests, is heavily influenced by the traditional music of Eastern Europe, particularly Bulgaria. It also pays tribute to the iconic catchphrase of Professor Calculus (Tournesol), the character from the Belgian comic series Tintin. 'Before The Heat,' played live a few times, is an ambient composition by Andy Kirk, who is part of the EP's lineup alongside Daniel Denis, Guy Segers, Alan Ward, and Dirk Descheemaeker. 'Central Belgium In The Dark' is a live improvisation from a period when Univers Zéro dedicated part of their concerts to complete improvisation. What makes this recording unique is that one of Andy Kirk's effects pedals picked up and emitted the sound of a mysterious radio signal, seemingly coming from "nowhere," especially
noticeable at the end of the piece. The title of this improv is a nod to contemporary composer Charles Ives' work Central Park in the Dark. 'Central Belgium' refers to the concert venue where the piece was recorded (Haine-St-Pierre). This EP was named one of the greatest Belgian albums of all time by MOFO magazine in February 2000, a rock magazine from the '80s. The original cover artwork has been beautifully redesigned by Thierry Moreau.

Melting Clock is a musical project born in the Faculty of Physics, University of Genoa, in 2001. At the time the group's aim, which brought together experienced musicians and beginners, was sheer amusement and musical growth, pursued through the covering of songs by more and less known bands of the progressive rock scene. Over the years the pieces studied have influenced Melting Clock's sound: much attention has been paid to some of the most interesting contemporary bands such as Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Opeth, Ayreon, without however neglecting milestones that have made the history of the progressive genre like Pink Floyd, Genesis and PFM. Melting Clock have undergone many line up changes: alongside the four founding members Sandro Amadei (keyboards and vocals), Stefano Amadei (guitars), Alessandro Bosca (bass guitar) and Francesco Fiorito (drums), Simone Caffè (guitars) and Emanuela Vedana (vocals) more recently joined the band. The skills acquired and the renewed enthusiasm led to the decision to devote to the composing of original music. Melting Clock's style is characterized by evocative and powerful sounds, which aim at immediately capturing the listener - without giving up elements of complexity - and conveying a strong emotional charge. Lyrics are in their mother tongue, Italian. They fully follow the spirit of progressive music in their free approach to writing and interest in contamination from the most diverse genres.

Julissa, the woman who was censored in Mexican rock! Rock and roll in Mexico had an impact practically all over the world, yet it was never free from censorship. Several songs made it to the radio, and among them was the track 'Ven Cerca,' performed by Los Spitfires and their singer Julissa. Julissa entered the entertainment industry at a very young age, as she was only 13 years old when she started singing with The Spitfires, a rock and roll group formed by her brother Luis on bass, Juan Ramón Sordo on drums, José Luis de la Huerta, and Manuel González Galindo, better known as Johnny Dynamo, on guitars. Los Spitfires, a band originating from Mexico City and formed in 1960, were one of five winning groups in a contest organized by CBS Columbia and the Radio Éxitos station, held in November of that same year. Los Escupefuego were the runners-up, as first place went to Los Hooligans, who, in addition to recording an album, would also appear in a movie. The other groups that won the opportunity to record an album with CBS were: Los Loud Jets, Los Blue Caps, and Los Sparks. Los Spitfires only recorded two tracks: 'Loco Amor' and 'Ven Cerca,' Spanish versions of Paul Anka's 'Crazy Love' and Johnny Restivo's 'Come Closer.' Although these songs are not widely known, except among true fans, they serve as a reference to the early rock being made in Mexico during that time. At the time, all rock musicians were copying foreign hits, including the musical arrangements, and simply translating the lyrics into Spanish. For Julissa, this task wasn't difficult, as she was fluent in English. 'Ven Cerca' ('Come Closer') with its highly suggestive lyrics, was the first song she recorded with her group. She translated the lyrics exactly as Johnny Restivo sang them in English. It began like this: "Come closer, just a little bit closer, because I want to hug and kiss you, come closer." Julissa sang it with whispers and sighs, and with the microphone so open, all her breaths and gasps sounded like genuine moans. Very soon, the record was pulled from the market. Interestingly, she had no idea what those suggestive expressions implied, as she was almost still a child. That record 45s it is very difficult to find and is a rare piece sought after by collectors from around the world! Limited to 300 copies.

VARIOUS - FLUXUS & NEOFLUXUS: KEEP TOGETHER (2LP)
2LP with 23 original pieces from Fluxus artists + 24 page large booklet including photos and 11 accompanying texts from Fluxus artists and experts. In April 2023, the first part of
the Fluxus edition called 'Stolen Symphony' was released. The year has come and gone and here is the second part of the Fluxus edition called 'Keep Together.' At the centre of both parts of this edition was a broken piano, acquired by the Opening Performance Orchestra for the purpose of making live and studio recordings. During this time other new works for this broken piano were written by diverse Fluxus and non-Fluxus
composers. In the spring of 2022, the Opening Performance Orchestra and broken piano participated in an event hosted by Mieko Shiomi. This was a new version of her early work 'Spatial Poem,' documentation of which was presented at the 2022 Aichi Triennale in Tokyo. At present, the broken piano lies in the open air in Prague and is subject to gradual decay.

LIND - DE LEIT
Lind is a genre-defying attempt to play music from home. Some of it is passed down through tradition, some is self-composed, and it ranges from heart-wrenching melancholy to village anarchy. The band calls the result "symphonic trad 'n' roll." To achieve this, jazz-inclined brass player Karl Helbig, black-metal-inspired cellist Benni "Cellini" Gerlach, and traditionalist Waldzither player Tim "Doc Fritz" Liebert had to step far outside their musical comfort zones. The result is perhaps one of the most exotic creations in the newly blossoming German folk landscape, though the term "folk" is used here in a very broad sense. With cello, saxophone/tuba, Waldzither/harmonica, and charismatic vocals, they build a completely unique and fascinating soundscape on the foundation of traditional music. This soundscape is characterized by technical sophistication, wild playfulness, and a touch of melancholy. Lind presents a mix of self-composed pieces (for which they received the prestigious "Hoyschrecke" singer-songwriter award in 2023), classical adaptations, and respectful arrangements of traditional pieces from Thuringia and Saxony. These often include "Rundas" from the Vogtland region, which spread exuberant joy, or 240-year-old dance pieces (from the Seibis Collection). The combination of this material with the unusual blend of instruments and the complex structure of the compositions results in a very modern sound that never feels academic and possesses a timeless quality. Despite all their virtuosity, the music remains highly entertaining and captivating.

SALAMAKANNEL - IV
Salamakannel (Lightning Kantele) is back! On 'IV,' the band's personal sound is still born from the ringing of various stringed instruments. Salamakannel's music combines traditional Finnish pelimanni (folk musician) music, especially kantele music from Perho River Valley, American string band music and various rock influences. An essential part of the band's repertoire is the band members' own personal compositions. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Salamakannel's best-known lineup made three albums, which are still considered to be the front-line releases of the emerging Finnish contemporary folk music. Salamakannel's album 'IV' continues from where the band left off 30 years ago. The album's music contains a variety of moods, from heartbreaking lyrical melodies to ancient imitations of the church bell tunes, Chicago waltz, polska or oompah, Finnish humppa.
