13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS - HEADSTONE: THE CONTACT SESSIONS
This album contains the contents of The 13th Floor Elevators' recording sessions for Contact Records in early 1966. On January 3rd 1966, the band taped both sides of their debut 45 'You're Gonna Miss Me' b/w 'Tried To Hide,' which Contact released on January 17th. That same month the (on the 27th) The Elevators were busted for possession of marijuana, and fearing that Texas' draconian drug laws could imperil the band's future, they felt the need to document their unique, garage-infused brand of early psychedelia as a means to document their very existence - at the time, possession of marijuana could result in a prison sentence of 2-10 years. These recordings were, therefore, meant to be the band's debut LP, which Tommy Hall titled 'Headstone.' The primal magic the band were able to conjure is already in evidence, - all of which would re-recorded for their debut LP proper 'The Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators' later that same year.

Some will know this moment: suddenly everything is clear. When Lulu (Electric Moon) and Oli (ex-Urlaub in Polen) bump into each other at a concert in the legendary Vortex Surfer music club in Siegen, they both know that same evening: We are a band. They tell Falko, who has just destroyed the club with his instrumental post-metal band Sarkh. Just a few months later, the first songs were arranged during the first rehearsals - fragments of poetry and word play written by Oli, melodic
lines and ideas that were taken up by the band and subsidized and refined on the respective instruments. The debut 'White Clouds' was created in less than a year - recorded, mixed and mastered in Falko's underground recording studio Institut Für
Angewandten Krach. During that time, the band attends one of the last concerts of the wonderful noise post-math rock band Shellac in Amsterdam. All three are equally deeply impressed and moved by this show and incorporate Steve Albini's spirit into their debut, which they ultimately dedicated to him. Added to this is their very own drift - pain and hope, the unconditional will of rock'n'roll, depth and steep flight, highly dynamic, playful, hypnotic-driving passages and repeated melodies with resonance, as well as the connection between the three musicians, promise a debut and live concerts with a yeah factor.

Heronimus Fin are nothing less than a sustainably authentic, neo-psychedelic/prog combo. RENAISSANCE - ILLUSION
'Illusion' is the second studio album by the English progressive rock band Renaissance, released in 1971. It was originally released only in Germany and did not receive a wider release until 1973. Following an American tour to support their first album, the band returned to the studio in the spring of 1970 to begin work on their second. The band recorded 'Love Goes On,' 'Golden Thread,' 'Love Is All,' and 'Face Of Yesterday' before they began to fall apart. Keith Relf and Jim McCarty were the first to leave, deciding to cease as performing members but remain involved with production and composition for the band. John Hawken recruited singer Terry Crowe and guitarist Michael Dunford (both from Hawken's previous band The Nashville Teens), as well as session drummer Terry Slade to replace Relf and McCarty. Louis Cennamo left shortly afterwards to join Colosseum. Bassist Neil Korner, another former member of The Nashville Teens, replaced him. Comes on brown vinyl.

The combo was formed by the Ruiz Geniz brothers (Angel and Diego), on guitar and drums respectively, plus Luis Genil (organ) and José Torres (bass).
Their debut album, originally released on Basf in 1974, is one of the crown jewels of Spanish hard rock, and changes hands for a small fortune among collectors all over the world, especially since its inclusion in Hans Pokora's 'Record Dreams' books.
This LP really rocks. It's high energy hard rock that follows the line marked by the big organ outfits of the era such as Deep Purple, Atomic Rooster, Bram Stoker, Megaton... It has also a deep classic prog sound root, which reaches the top on 'Un Señor Llamado Fernández De Córdoba.' We are talking of one of the seminal Spanish hard rock LPs. It is the first chapter of a set of 2 concept albums in which the band deepens its exploration of ancient Babylon with an almost mythical approach through the eyes of the exiled captives from Jerusalem. Featuring contributions from 7 international collaborators, 'Zamaru Ultu Qereb Ziqquratu' is poised to become one of the most ambitious projects in the doom scene in terms of production and conception and it is released by the finest label in the genre: Heavy Psych Sounds. The album pushes sonic boundaries by featuring two drummers recorded simultaneously, creating the immersive effect of distant crowds. An eclectic mix of instruments, including the saz, viola, sitar, and bugle, blend with both analog and digital elements to enrich the soundscape. A nod to Turkish composer Fazil Say is also present, with a quotation from his symphony 'Mesopotamia.' For the first time, two vocal tracks appear alongside the instrumental pieces. Iranian singer Nina Saiedi lends her ethereal voice to 'The Diviner's Prayer To The Gods Of The Night,' sung in Akkadian, while Jerusalem's choir conductor Tomer Damsky delivers a captivating performance of 'Im Lelya' in Aramaic adding a deep vocal layer to the album. The final mix, crafted by renowned producer Tim De Gieter, known for his work with Amenra, Brutus, and Absent In Body, brings everything together with a masterful touch. Edition of 150 copies in black/red/yellow vinyl.

It is the first chapter of a set of 2 concept albums in which the band deepens its exploration of ancient Babylon with an almost mythical approach through the eyes of the exiled captives from Jerusalem. Featuring contributions from 7 international collaborators, 'Zamaru Ultu Qereb Ziqquratu' is poised to become one of the most ambitious projects in the doom scene in terms of production and conception and it is released by the finest label in the genre: Heavy Psych Sounds. The album pushes sonic boundaries by featuring two drummers recorded simultaneously, creating the immersive effect of distant crowds. An eclectic mix of instruments, including the saz, viola, sitar, and bugle, blend with both analog and digital elements to enrich the soundscape. A nod to Turkish composer Fazil Say is also present, with a quotation from his symphony 'Mesopotamia.' For the first time, two vocal tracks appear alongside the instrumental pieces. Iranian singer Nina Saiedi lends her ethereal voice to 'The Diviner's Prayer To The Gods Of The Night,' sung in Akkadian, while Jerusalem's choir conductor Tomer Damsky delivers a captivating performance of 'Im Lelya' in Aramaic adding a deep vocal layer to the album. The final mix, crafted by renowned producer Tim De Gieter, known for his work with Amenra, Brutus, and Absent In Body, brings everything together with a masterful touch.

A fab compilation of the legendary Australian '60s band The Atlantics!! The Atlantics formed around in 1961 by Theo Penglis (guitars), Peter Hood (drums), Bosco Bosanac (bass) and Eddy Matzenik (guitars). After a short time Jim Skiathitis joined The Atlantics on guitars and Eddy Matzenik left the band. Their classic and well known song is the instrumental 'Bombora,' released in 1963 for CBS. The Atlantics continued recording and releasing albums and singles until 1965 when they set up their own label, JRA Producions. Theo Penglis quit guitars and switched to organ, as well Johnny Rebb joined the band on vocals. Johnny Rebb was a legendary rock'n'roll vocalist in Australia back in the late '50s, a Gentleman of Rock'n'Roll!! During that time The Atlantics recorded the legendary JRA/Ramrod sessions. Rumble Skunk Records proudly presents this ab-fab compilation titled 'It's A Hard Life,' gathering 14 brilliant songs, including stuff from their hard to find 7"s!

The Hydes were formed around 1993 in Thessaloniki, Greece, inspired by Robert Lewis Stevenson, 'Shadows,' 'Too Late Blues,' 'Rocky Horror Picture Show,' supervised by Edward Hyde and influenced by the hottest stuff of rock'n'roll and bands like The Spades, The Stooges, MC5, The Real Kids, Radio Birdman, Dead Boys, The Only Ones, The Velvet Underground, The Modern Lovers, Johnny Thunders, The Pretty Things, The Outsiders, Q65, The Music Machine, The Droogs, The Lyres, The Chesterfield Kings, The Zakary Thaks, The Liberty Bell etc. Their first rock'n'roll strike was 'Big City' on a compilation tribute to The Pretty Things called 'Not So Pretty,' which came out in 1995 on Corduroy Records, followed by the EP 'Hard Lovin'' (1997, Swallow It All Records). Their 2nd 7" 'Out Tonite'/'Sun Won't Go Down' was released the same year via the cool Australian label Corduroy Records, as well in 1997 The Hydes were featuring with a great cover of The Only Ones ('Flaming Torch') through 'The Thing' CD-comp Vol. 20. Once again and via 'The Thing' CD-comp Vol. 201 (1998), The Hydes covered Martha & The Vandellas' '63 anthem 'Heatwave.' In 2002 saw the light of day a double LP compilation 'Standing In The Shadows (A Tribute To The Golden Days Of The Rolling Stones 1963-1967)' via Corduroy Records, The Hydes pay tribute to the Stones with an outstanding cover of 'Have You Seen Your Mother...' The first issue of Rumble Skunk 'zine came out in 2004 and The Hydes offered covers of 'Sour Wine' (Q65), plus The Master's Apprentices' 'Wars Or Hands Of Time'. Over the years the band gigged with cool Greek rock'n'roll bands, as well with Radio Birdman, The Cynics, The Electric Prunes, Terry Lee Hale etc. Debut album 'Self Preservation Instinct Zero' includes 13 original songs, recorded at their own studio (House Of Kicks), by Ghost between 2002-2006, mixed at Cue Productions by Ghost and Slim Chance and mastered at Cue by Yiannis Mavridis. Infectious rock&roll, surf, beat, girl group and ye-yé sounds by Las Mosquitas, the first female beat band from Argentina.
Including their rare album from 1965 for the Music Hall label plus bonus tracks from singles and their impossible to find split EP with Los Gatos Salvajes. Las Mosquitas ("The Little Flies") consisted of Stella Maris Conde (Pupé) on vocals and guitar, María Cristina Medina (Nita) on bass, Ana María Millán (Nené) on vocals and guitar and Beatriz Cabrera (Dina) on drums. They performed their original compositions as well as Spanish sung covers of hits from the era. Producer Ricardo Romero of pioneering rock&roll Argentinean band Los Cinco Latinos took them under his wing and secured a deal with the Music Hall label. They toured nationally and internationally, sometimes supporting Los Cinco Latinos, other times as the main act. Not only that, but they conquered every city they performed in, they were received by fans, ambassadors, presidents and their daughters, all eager to see Las Mosquitas on stage. Tours through Panamá, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Puerto Rico, Chile, Uruguay, Brasil, Curazao and Argentina were completed with fantastic public response and TV appearances.
The "Mosquitamania" was born and a string of singles and a full album on the Music Hall label followed. All of them are compiled here for the first time. "Their music was a mix of ye-yé and beat and they dressed how you would expect the Beatles to dress if they had been women." ~Gareth Wynne (Ugly Things). SEX PISTOLS - EVER GET THE FEELING YOU'VE BEEN CHEATED?
Repress on turquoise vinyl. 'LIVE AT WINTERLAND BALLROOM, SAN FRANCISCO, CA, 14TH JAN 1978 - FM BROADCAST' - The Sex Pistols' 1978 U.S. tour was a complete fiasco. Bassist Sid Vicious was addicted to heroin, and Johnny Rotten was barely speaking with his bandmates. The brief tour wrapped up January 14th at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom. It was the biggest venue of the entire tour, the crowd was mainly hippies, curious to see what all the fuss was about. The band closed with a cover of the Stooges' 'No Fun.' When the song ends Rotten asks the crowd, "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?". He then drops the microphone and walks offstage. It was the last time the Sex Pistols would perform together until their reunion tour in 1996.

A compilation of South African punk bands originally released on cassette by French label Western Front Tapes in 1983. Compiled by Rubin 'Wildman' Rose, it features, in addition to the established bands of that period - Wild Youth (South Africa's first punk rock band, formed in 1978 and Rubin Rose's group), Leopard, Gay Marines (both among the very first bands of the scene) and Powerage (from Durban, on the scene since 1981) - and lesser-known names with almost non-existent discographies but certainly worthy of being brought to light today. Those selections gave a broader and clearer picture of what it meant to be a punk band in the apartheid years.

'Smile' is the unfinished album by the Beach Boys intended to follow their 1966 album 'Pet Sounds.' The project came to be regarded as the most legendary unreleased album in popular music history. The album was produced and almost entirely composed by Brian Wilson with Van Dyke Parks, both of whom conceived the project as a 'teenage symphony to God' It was a concept album that was planned to feature word paintings, tape manipulation, experiments with musical acoustics, themes of youth and innocence, and comedic interludes, with influences drawn from mysticism, pre-rock and roll pop, doo-wop, jazz, ragtime, musique concrète, classical, American history, poetry, spirituality, and cartoons. A mythology grew around the project, and its unfulfilled potential inspired many, especially those in indie rock, post-punk, electronic, and chamber pop genres.

The many-hour concert was held to the joy and delight of several hundred thousand happy fans of MTV and Red Hot Chili Peppers. 'Night Keeper' is a collaborative album by New York City-based artist Aaron Landsman and former Swans guitarist Norman Westberg that is based on the former's eponymous play. The original piece was first performed in the Spring of 2023 at The Chocolate Factory Theater in Queens and filled the stark industrial space with spoken text, choreography, projections and music in dim light and, occasionally, complete darkness. Westberg and Young afterwards brought it to the studio to record it as a two-part

Collaborative mini album by two musicians highly esteemed for decades in the electronic music scene, Simon Posford and Raja Ram, 'Improvisations For Piano & Flute': as the title suggests, a series of fully improvised compositions by the two legendary musicians. The 44-minute flow of this album is more contemplative and analog in nature than anything in the pair's previous output in their three decades of collaborative work, yet equally mesmerising and consciousness-expanding. This album is a significant departure from their usual output in its focus on the interplay of Raj's lyrical flute playing and Simon's noodling at the piano, with almost imperceptible synthesized atmospheric support that seamlessly unites analog and digital realities. These improvisations were recorded in Posford's living room instead of the usual studio because the musicians found that it provided more of the desired ambience. With a synthesizer placed atop an antique Bluthner piano, either Raj or Simon would begin playing and the other would join in - nothing prepared, decided, or arranged: just live, in-the-moment inspiration. This spontaneity infuses each track with such magnetic energy that the listener is inevitably drawn into each note, phrase, and piece. The whole album is supremely chill and introspective, with a grand arc to the storyline of 8 tracks that Shpongle fans will recognize from the dynamic duo's internationally prized discography. Howard Riley is relatively under-recorded as a solo artist, given that he has been playing avant-garde jazz since the early seventies, with names like Evan Parker, Lol Coxhill, Tony Oxley, Barry Guy, Trevor Watts, Elton Dean, Keith Tippett, to name but a few. On this double LP, recorded in the Saint Catherine's Church in Vilnius, Lithuania on September, 11, 2009, he plays his own compositions/improvisations, with additionally some covers of the standards 'Round Midnight,' 'Misterioso' and 'Yesterdays.' Riley's playing is very openended, not spectacular or prone to dramatic effects, but is focused on careful development and further expansion of initial ideas. Even if open in spirit, his improvisations are quite controlled, never wild, never sweet or impressionistic, yet very lyrical and abstract. A rare combination for the soundwaves to reach your ears.
