The band formed in 1973 in Oklahoma USA. After some personnel changes they took their final form in 1975 with Bill Kirtley: vocals, guitar, Mike Stewart: vocals, guitar, Mike Hanna: vocals, bass and Gary Bruce: drums. They played locally in clubs and concerts and had their own compositions written by all 4 members. Besides the original material (most of it, is presented here) they played a variety of covers by bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, CSN&Y, Kansas etc. Their music is ranged between hard rock with many psych underground vibes and
progressive rock with jazzy overtones. Wishbone Ash, Primevil, Majic Ship, Hard Meat, even quieter and less polished Ashbury come in mind... This album was made from an original reel-to-reel tape, recorded on January 30, 1976. All live in the studio with no overdubs. The tape contains 11 songs in total but Anazitisi used only the 9 of them because of vinyl limitations. Soon after the recordings, Ashhollow came to a halt. Includes fully laminated cover and 4-pages (LP-sized) coloured insert with bio, photos, lyrics and memorabilia.
Limited to 200 black copies, 180gr vinyl as usual.

BAND X - THE BEST OF BAND X
Last copies! RSD 2024 release, only few available, so be fast! With its tongue in cheek title, 'The Best Of Band X' (there had been no previous Band X releases) snuck into the record racks in 1976, the first the world was to hear from musician/producer/writer/arranger (and later all-American hero) Craig Peyton. Fitting in somewhere between contemporaries like Weather Report, Headhunters and Stone Alliance, Craig Peyton definitely ploughed his own musical furrow even in an exceptionally fertile era. Originally a jazz drummer and vibraphonist, Craig was interested in utilizing the potential of some of the new synthesizers that were coming onto the market in that era, (beating even Stevie Wonder to the use of the Fairlight keyboard). Band X consisted of Alan Grzyb, Victor Preston and Joey Bellomo alongside their auteur, Craig Peyton. Despite being, broadly speaking, `jazz', Craig's music had a synthetic feel and, like many musical conceptions of the future, sounds decidedly retro-cool today. Drummer Bellomo contributed synthesizer work, and horn-player Grzyb also contributed keyboards. Bass-man Preston also played trombone, and alongside Grzyb's bassoon and clarinet and the assorted electronics, it was not your standard jazz ensemble. Quirky song titles (some of which wouldn't sound out of place on a prog-rock album from the same time) confirm the image we have of a musical maverick.

After the dissolution of the Norwegian psych rock outfit The Dream by the end of the 1960s, Christian Reim embarked on a new musical venture with the group Bash. Following his time with The Dream, where he had already begun to experiment with pop and rock, Christian found himself exploring further creative depths with Bash. As The Dream disbanded, pivotal figures like Hans-Marius Stormoen and Terje Rypdal embarked on separate musical journeys. Collaborations with luminaries like Jan Garbarek and Jon Christensen became defining moments. By 1971, however, The Dream's curtain had closed. Undeterred, Christian, armed with his modified Hammond B3 organ, continued to play bass using foot-pedals. Amidst these transformations, the unwavering partnership of his longtime collaborator, drummer Tom Karlsen, remained steadfast. Bash's presence was initially marked by a single release in 1971, with tracks 'Quiquenita' and 'Kokosnotter' on the Nor-Disc imprint. While featuring an impressive line-up of jazz musicians, this studio session was a one-time endeavour. Bash continued to make waves, performing as an organ trio led by Christian and Tom. Various Oslo-based guitarists, including notable names like Freddy Dahl and Freddy Lindquist, joined the lineup throughout 1972 and 1973. However, this live recording encapsulates a pivotal phase in Bash's evolution. The winter of '73 marked a significant shift with the addition of Richard Rolf from the illustrious Swedish band November. Richard's entrance added another layer of prowess and experience to the trio's sonic landscape. Diving into the performance is akin to reliving the Wednesday concert in April '73. Every essence of the atmosphere is captured, even down to the engineer adjusting the reel-to-reel machine's volume knob whenever the band's intensity peaked. The recording boasts surprising elements, such as moments when Christian halts the performance to reset the rhythm with the drummer. Amidst the live renditions, a standout is Christian's unique interpretation of Arild Wikstrom's 'Indianersangen,' serving as a compelling opener. Its gradually unfolding theme resonates deeply and stands as a highlight, adding a significant dimension to the album's value. This live recording not only captures the essence of Bash's performance, but it also transports listeners to a specific moment in time at the legendary Club 7 in Oslo. This LP is a limited edition of only 250 copies, each hand-stamped and numbered. With a nod to the seventies, it also includes a replica of the original promotion sheet from the group's heyday.

Debut album by a Italian psychedelic rock band Citrus Citrus.
Citrus Citrus was born in Padova in 2020 as an idea by guitarists Lorenzo Badin and Luca Zantomio, joined after some months by bassist Enrico Maragno and drummer Marco Buffetti. Citrus Citrus started as an instrumental project based on several jams and past explorations in psychedelic music, but eventually found its final form when joined by singer and producer Thomas Powell. 'Albedo Massima' revolves around the idea of metamorphosis: myths and legends from ancient Greek and Latin cultures contain the roots of our present feelings and obsession as humans and western societies. Along with the content of these mythologies and their migrations across the Mediterranean Sea and beyond, the concept of metamorphosis is reinforced by the Pomelo (the citrus in the cover art and symbol of the band), one of the three originary citruses from which current species have evolved, both in natural and human purposes. The title is a play on words between botany and science: pomelos have a thick albedo under their peel, which is usually discarded but has distinct scent and texture; also the maximum albedo ("Albedo Massima" in Italian) is registered when all incident light is reflected by a surface. 'Sunday Morning In The Sun,' the opening track and first single from the album, follows the reflections of the sun as they dissolve into the space around them as well as 'Echo,' the nymph whose body dissolves and whose voice eternally lingers in the landscape.

The songs blend into each other to create one nuclear based relativity, with a conceptual narrative of our historical atomic madness in variable time signatures, rests and pieces. On top of that, their whole rhythm section is a Detroit gang. Let's rock! Einsteinium is a highly unstable element that was discovered in the debris after the first hydrogen bomb explosion. Using it in the title eventually compelled Curvey from Custard Flux to research and write about characters and events relating to atomic bombs, a thoroughly depressing subject. The infamous key scientist involved in developing the first atom bomb, had deep spiritual interests and in some interviews had made references to the Bhagavad Gita, which he was able to use for more positive, psychedelic inspiration.

In the autumn of 2022, the core of DWLVS got together for a recording session at Santo Studios in Oakland, CA, the same studio that birthed the three most recent DWLVS albums, 'Grow Towards The Light' (Beyond Beyond Is Beyond), 'I Just Wasn't Made For These Set Times' (Centripetal Force), and 'Paradisiacal Mind' (Feeding Tube/Cardinal Fuzz). Because of the pandemic and members relocating from San Francisco's Bay Area to points all over the globe, DWLVS hadn't played together, or even seen each other in person, since their 2019 European tour. Band organizer Jeffrey Alexander had moved to Philadelphia, drummer Sheila Bosco set off for Amsterdam, and violinist Arjun Mendiratta had moved to the more remote confines of Northern California, leaving only bassist Brian Lucas in the immediate Bay. Like their last gathering at Santo in 2018, this 2022 session resulted in hours of rich material, the first of which is coming to light with 'Easy Portals.'
Outside of an odd cover song or two, DWLVS' material has always been centered on improvisation and spontaneous composition. The making of 'Easy Portals' was certainly no exception to this practice. And while the group's layoff was long, their penchant for meditative and intriguing long form compositions has only strengthened in the interim. Even upon initial listen, you will hear the familiar tone and timbre of DWLVS. However, on this album there is also found a darker and more progressive slant to their communal approach, possibly the result of those pandemic days. Or the current geo-political state of the world. Or both. Whatever the case, and as reflected by the artwork, 'Easy Portals' transports DWLVS to another musical dimension. Consistent with their practice of collaborating with other artists, DWLVS was sure to include friends new and old to the 2022 recording session. 'Easy Portals' sees the return of Taralie Peterson (Spires In The Sunset Rise, Tekla Peterson) on saxophone, as well as the arrival of J. Lee and Marina Lazzara (both of the San Francisco band The Rabbles, as well as Warm Spell, which also includes Brian Lucas). Lee, who plays farfisa organ and modular synth, and Lazzara, who offers voice and percussion, are a defacto Keith and Donna to the DWLVS lineup and serve as a key element in setting the tone for the sonic portals that lay before you. Dungeon Weed's first album, 'Mind Palace Of The Mushroom God,' was conjured in the early days of pandemic lockdown as a collaboration between multi-instrumentalist Dmitri Mavra (Skunk, Slow Phase) and Chris McGrew, studio engineer/session drummer at San Francisco's Wally's Hyde Out, along with singer Thia Moonbrook. A concept album in which a sorcerer bargains for immortality with Orcus, God of the Underworld, and makes a deal that goes horribly wrong, 'Mind Palace Of The Mushroom God' was an instant hit with its eye-blasting artwork and heavy "wizard sludge" riffs. The band was signed to Forbidden Place Records within days and the first vinyl pressing sold out soon after. Now, the story comes to an epic conclusion in this double album as the sorcerer seeks the mystical gem that will free him from the curse of Orcus. McGrew, Moonbrook, and Mavra are joined by synth lord Rama to weave this eldritch tale of dark, mind-bending magic. Hypnotic riffs flow seamlessly into dreamlike interludes, transporting the listener through the many shifting moods of this psychedelic doom epic. Dungeon Weed's "wizard sludge" is unique a heavy doom sound that touches on stoner rock, black metal, dungeon synth, prog, and more. Richly rewarding and beautiful, it's Neil ELBLs' "classical" record in many ways - stripped right down from his trademark, layered Neu! homages and driving motorik grooves, longterm devotees may at first be taken aback, but the albums' absorbing, meditative grooves are utterly intoxicating, and all parties here, agree that it is his finest offering thus far. Mark Enbatta's recording career started in 1982 with The Vietnam Veterans. Although an official split was declared in 1987, the members of the band never stopped working together under various names like The Curanderos, The Late Veterans, The Veterans, The Vietnam Chain, The Smiling Droopies, The Gitanes or even on solo projects. By the way, the audience never stopped calling them The Vietnam Veterans... There was nothing you could do about it! When Lucas Trouble died in 2016, Mark officially declared they wouldn't use the original band's name anymore. Lucas wasn't an original member but he was Mark's friend and partner in crime since the early days. The further psychedelic adventures of The Vietnam Veterans will now happen as The Tribe. Same singer/songwriter, two former members of the VV's and a new bassist. The Tribe's first album is maybe darker than what people could expect but Mark wrote it during Lucas Trouble's agony. Five years after 'A Fistful Of Love', here is another trip inside haunted human minds. Some bad trips give special emotions.

Rinji Fukuoka is one of the iconic figures, along with Makoto Kawabata or Keiji Haino, of Japanese psychedelic rock. He is the founder of the bands Overhang Party, Majutsu No Niwa, Tangerine Dream Syndicate and he also plays with Sachiko and Masayoshi Urabe. Michel Henritzi is a member of the noise combo Dustbreeders. He also regularly plays as a duo with Junko (from Hijokaidan). He also played with Jojo Hiroshige, Masayoshi Urabe, A Qui Avec Gabriel, Tetuzi Akiyama, Tamio Shiraishi and Nihilist Spasm Band. On this album Rinji Fukuoka (electric violin) and Michel Henritzi (lapsteel guitar) prove to be a perfect and interesting combination. As soon as the duo starts spinning like dervishes, a total psychedelic immersion occurs, or a velvet implosion. This is spectral music made of repetitive patterns that reminds of Tony Conrad.

"We, Matsutani and Haga were playing with Gamelan (16 performers) and Jegog (29 performers) on Bali Island in March 2019. All recordings were done open air live style without an audience. We were very careful to be most respectful of their performance and not to interfere with their ambience. Our desired guitar sound was to resemble the wind, birds and sun showers. NANI _ GURU - VOVIVIZM EPISODE 2
A duo by 2 members from Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O.: Kawabata Makoto "Speed Guru" (electric guitar, synthesizer) and Satoshima Nani (drums, sampler). Nani ě Guru is a hyper-experimental, psychedelic astro-trance duo, spontaneously formed in February 2018. Their first album was recorded immediately and released on CD by the Acid Mothers Temple in March 2018 in a limited edition of 300. In May 2018 they made their live debut on a tour of Mexico, and subsequently played dates in Japan. The group's sound combines the experimental with the ecstatic, the rigorous experimentalism of contemporary classical composition with the groove of dance music. It is impossible to believe that their ultra high speed, ultra dense, ultra massive particle cloud of sound is made by just two people. This is their second album.

OASIS (USA) - OASIS
Another psych holy grail finally seeing the light of day. Oasis was an American rock band from Marin County, California active in the 1970s. They eventually morphed from the prog-folk ensemble R J Fox. Their self-titled debut album was released as a private press in 1973 by the Cranbus label in a small run of 150 copies, imagine that... The record was in fact never released in the States but only in Canada, such a mystery today. Coming from the west coast the band - led by female vocalist and eclectic piano player Sherry Fox - was certainly informed by local stalwarts (Ultimate Spinach and Jefferson Airplane may come to mind) but had certain similarities with the Allman Brothers country rock guitars and David Crosby vocal harmonies circa 'If I Could Only Remember My Name'. Not to mention the key jazz folk albums of Joni Mitchell. Here's a superb psychedelic folk rock manifesto, still fascinating and over the top, in the name of universal love.

Guitarist-singer Pappo aka Norberto Aníbal Napolitano (1950-2005) is one of his country's biggest rock legends, who also managed to make a career outside his home country. He was there right from the beginning of Argentine rock, as guitarist of the first version of Los Abuelos de la Nada, Conexión N§ 5, Engranaje and Los Gatos, the band that made Argentine rock a household name thanks to the success of their first single, 'La Balsa,' which sold more than 200.000 copies in 1967. Jorge Alvarez (co-founder of the first Argentinian independent rock label Mandioca) encouraged Pappo to develop his own music. What followed was the formation of the first version of Pappo's Blues in 1971, a trio that had Pappo himself on guitar and vocals, David Lebón on bass and Black Amaya on drums. Their self-named debut album was an unqualified success among the ever-growing audience of Argentine rock. It contained a bundle of all-time classics such as 'El Hombre Suburbano' (The Suburban Man), 'El Viejo' (The Old Man) and 'Adónde Está La Libertad' (Where Is Freedom). 'Pappo's Blues' (1971, also known as 'Volume One') introduced a new element to Argentine rock: a harder rock and blues sound, combined with intelligent and sensitive lyrics with centered on the vicissitudes of a typical young man trying to live life according to his own rules, surrounded by the mores of an intolerant society. The arabesques of Pappo's guitar, complemented by a solid and yet elastic rhythm section, made for an exciting and daring sound, where his trademark rock and blues sound also extended to embrace blues ballads and even excursions into psychedelia. Parchment Farm history: Over the course of about five years beginning in late 1968, several musicians living in eastern Missouri rocked the area clubs and festivals with a mix of cover and heavy original songs. The band's name, Parchment Farm, came from a song on Blue Cheer's debut LP, 'Vincebus Eruptum.' Parchment Farm 1.0: According to Mike Watermann, original drummer for Parchment Farm, their first gig was in late 1968. Parchment Farm 1.0 was an opening act for the following: Sons Of Champlin, sometime in early August and/or November 26, 1969 at The Rainy Daze Club (dates for Sons Of Champlin shows are according to a post on The Rainy Daze Facebook page. That Parchment Farm 1.0 was an opening act is per Mike Watermann). Brian Auger & Trinity on July 7, 1970 at The Rainy Daze Club (per Mike Watermann). NOTE: Parchment Farm 1.0 played with another local band, Burlington Route, at The Rainy Daze Club on January 9, 1970. Parchment Farm 2.0: In early 1971, Mike Dulany (RIP) became the drummer and they were, now, a 3-piece band. The development of original songs ramped up and they began playing and recording them right away.
Parchment Farm 2.0 was an opening act for the following: ZZ Top on July 29, 1972 at the Airway Drive-In Theater, St. Louis, MO.
Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes on October 14, 1971 at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, MO. Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes on January 29, 1972 at the Columbia, MO National Guard. Velvet Underground and Brownsville Station on August 29, 1971 at Fun Valley Lake in Pacific, MO. Parchment Farm 3.0: Sometime in late 1972, Mike Lusher became the drummer and the band added a keyboardist, Cliff King. They expanded the repertoire by playing songs by The Moody Blues, Yes, etc. At some point after February, 1973, Cliff left the band and was replaced by Mike "Scotty" Scott, a young Keith Emerson follower that owned a Moog and played the flute. Parchment Farm 3.0 (presumably with Mike Scott) was an opening act for the following: Canned Heat, The Hollies, and Rare Earth on Sunday, May 27, 1973 in Evansville, Indiana (as reported in the Evansville Press on May 28, 1973). REO Speedwagon on August 18, 1973 at the Rollins Music Festival near Villa Ridge, MO. Parchment Farm disbanded in late 1973.

Shawn Phillips' first major album, recorded in 1968 with help from the members of Traffic, among others, is a condensation of a far more ambitious studio original that was intended to fill three LPs. The range of sounds on this record is shockingly diverse, from breezy folk-rock ('Man Hole Covered Wagon') to pieces incorporating classical guitar and phantasmagoric lyrics ('L Ballade' finds Phillips' at his most Donovan-like, but with a better voice), and, in between, bouncy throwaways ('Not Quite Nonsense'), bejeweled sitar-ornamented pieces ('Withered Roses'), and topical songs ('For RFK, JFK and MLK'). If 'Contribution' had come out in 1968 when it was recorded, it probably would have been lost in the shuffle of ambient psychedelia; as it was, it was so quiet and different from the noise of most of what was released in 1970 that critics took notice. 'Contribution' is a superb debut, mixing progressive rock and folk sounds in a manner unique to its time.

During his long and illustrious career the French composer and musique concrète pioneer Pierre Henry created a lare amount of incidental music to accompany literary texts, both on record and for the stage, from Jules Verne to Victor Hugo, from Lautréamont to Antonin Artaud. This incredibly rare LP from 1959 is a radio play about the life of French pilot and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, based on the 1956 book by Luc Estang on the subject. The interpreters are a small theater troupe including French actor Paul Meurisse (1912-1979), famous for popular films and as a member of national theater company La Comédie Française. Underlying key scenes, Pierre Henry's contribution to the play consists of electronic and musique concrète sounds, adding a contemporary dimension to the text. A beautiful piece from one of the mid-20th century's truly brilliant sonic explorers.

High quality reissue of Steve Lacy's rare Japanese collaboration album 'Distant Voices'. 180 gram vinyl and 4 page insert with liner notes by Julian Cowley. On 24th June 1975 Takahashi sat at a grand piano, with celeste and vibraphone alongside him and small bells attached to his hands. Kosugi was equipped with violin, flute, mouth organ, an electronic modulator, porcelain bowls and at times he used his voice. Lacy played soprano saxophone, of course. Now and then he pressed the mouth of the instrument against the skin of a kettle drum. He occasionally fiddled with a transistor radio, and also found uses for a stepladder, a toothbrush and a spinning wheel. This was in no sense a routine musical session. Distant Voices preserves a unique occasion when three singular musicians joined together to embrace the unknown.

John's 'Odyssey Girls' appeared on the seminal 1983 spoken word LP 'English As A Second Language'. 'The Confession,' a collaboration with legendary producer Ethan James, was released on 1986's LP 'Voices From North America'. While recording this music, Hollywood-based John also dreamt of making his own films.

Laurent Perrier is a French electronic musician who composes and performs exclusively on modular synthesizers. An ex-member of the French cult industrial band NOX and founder of the record label and record shop Odd Size Records. He's now releasing his own music under the many monikers (Zonk't, Pylône, Cape Fear, Heal). David Fenech is a French musician living in Paris. His style has been described as 'a kind of punk musique concrète'. He uses the studio as an instrument, using a large panel of recording techniques. He has played and recorded with musicians such as Nurse With Wound, Felix Kubin, Jad Fair, Tom Cora, Rhys Chatham, Pascal Comelade, Jac Berrocal, Ghédalia Tazartès, Ergo Phizmiz, Pierre Bastien, and many others.

She manipulates her voice through reverbs, delays and whispers, singing in a self-invented 'language'. The sound of Morita's voice is a portal into her thriving, dreamlike world brimming, shimmering and beating with unrefined natural sensations which stimulate something primordial yet strangely contemporary. '8' features 10 original voice-led compositions that in scope recall evocative portraits of synthesized landscapes and rainforests, attuned to a vibrant modern pulse and enchanting vocals. Morita Vargas' '8' has achieved a kind of polyphonic soundscape which evokes unfamiliar realities through voyages within and between the realms of ambient and experimental music. VARIOUS - GREETINGS FROM S.G.V.
RSD 2024 release. Overdue reissue of the first three 12" in the record series dedicated to musicians who took part to the Greetings festival. It happened in 1987, it was time for Materiali Sonori's 10th anniversary, an historic goal for the label/collective born in the small Tuscany village of San Giovanni Valdarno. The small celebration brought to life a box collecting the first 3 EPs of the 'Greetings From S.G.V.' series. The series was intended as symbolic sound postcard, made with various musicians with whom the collective label shared a path, whether small or long. The Durutti Column, The Stockholm Monsters and Blaine R. Reininger (Tuxedomoon) are among the artist who took part to the project, here collected for the very first time. Lantern is pleased to pay tribute to the work of people whose passion, attitude, commitment and genuineness inspired this adventure still true to these days. "Our presence in this small Tuscan town is almost casual... physically we were born and grew up here, while our hearts and our minds were travelling to Paris, Berlin, Brussels, New York or London" (Giampiero Bigazzi of Marteriali Sonori , taken from the original inner sleeves notes). This reissue presents Knud Viktor's only two vinyl releases, 'Images' and 'Ambiances', which both were released in 1972 on the French label L'Oiseau Musicien. Knud Viktor (1924-2013) was a Danish recordist and sound artist, a pioneer of phonography and sound ecology. He spent most of his life trying to capture the tiny sound of animals and the sound of erosion on the rocks of Régalon (Lubéron, France), where he lived for almost 40 years. Viktor's methodology of work involved long periods of deep listening before placing his microphones at the right point of ear. This edition is limited to 300 DOUBLE-LP's.
