ERICKSON, ROKY -& THE ALIENS- - THE MODERN HUMANS' SHOW
Reissue on different label and with different artwork. This, one of the greatest radio shows ever made onto a record as it combines a radio interview with Roky Erickson in full gloom while he is presenting the demos of tracks that may ended up on the great great 'The Evil One' LP. Earlier versions of 'Mine Mine Mind', 'Two Headed Dog' and 'Click Your Fingers' applauding the play previously released on vinyl by France's Sponge Records in 1976. The bonuses (interviews, demos, rarities) are dandy, but the album is treasure enough. Its retro-metal chops have more kaboom than the irony-diluted pap of current poseurs, and its bent lyrics mop the floor with wannabe-kooks like Jad Fair. Some savvy touches -such as Roky's progressive pre-PC designation that the swamp monsters are 'alligator-persons'- hint that Roky was more lucid than he let on.

In the year 2018 the Australian psych-rockband Seedy Jeezus was doing their European tour. After the tour their guitar player Lex Waterreus spent some days at the home of Komet Lulu and Sula Bassana (both back then of Electric Moon), and what would be nicer as to record some jam sessions. Three longer pieces got recorded and Sula did some editings and mixings.
Then some years passed by... In late 2023 Lex visited Sula at his new home after another Seedy Jeezus tour and they did some spare overdubs and finished the album. Mastering was done by krautrock legend Eroc. Cover art direction by mr. Frumpy. Original image by Masiha Fattahi. LP comes on 180gr random coloured recycled vinyl made in Germany (incl. download code). Limited to 500 copies! It's a co-release with Blown Music from Australia.

'Burden' is an album of immense amp-worshipping weight and
intoxicating instrumentation. It was recorded simultaneously
with REZN's previous album 'Solace' back in 2021. Rather than
release a double album, REZN divided the material into two
separate records, each with its own distinct emotional timbre.
Whereas 'Solace' was meant to uplift and create a sense of
narcotic dreaminess, 'Burden' skews towards the themes of
delirium, claustrophobia and misery. Musically, 'Burden'
favours riffs over atmosphere, percussion over ether, and
dissonance over beauty, but there is still an undeniable cohesion between this work and its predecessor. This edition is presented on black vinyl. A lyric insert and a download are included.

ZAPPA, FRANK -& THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION- - BEAT CLUB OCTOBER 1968
Frank Zappa and the 'We're Only In It For The Money' line-up of The Mothers Of Invention started their second European tour in the autumn of 1968 with a number of dates in Germany. Whilst in the country, they recorded a 35-minute session for the TV show 'Beat Club' on October 6th consisting of a partly improvised, all instrumental piece drawing mainly on themes that would appear on their 1969 album 'Uncle Meat.' It also includes snatches of The Five Tinos' 'Don't Do That' and Wagner's 'Lohengrin,' presumably played specially for their German audience. The Essen Music Festival had footed the bill for the group's ten thousand dollar air fare and this LP features a fifteen-minute version of 'King Kong' from that show. This is vintage Frank Zappa at his most creative and the sound quality is excellent.

DICKS - KILL FROM THE HEART
Dicks' debut LP has been acknowledged as a foundational statement in punk ever since its initial 1983 release. Following their first single, 1980's 'Dicks Hate The Police,' and a live split with fellow Austinites the Big Boys, 'Kill From The Heart' does not disappoint. Originally released on SST, the album stands apart from the mass of generic thrash-hardcore contemporaries - fueled by the manic, but controlled power of singer Gary Floyd along with the original lineup of guitarist Glen Taylor, bassist Buxf Parrot and drummer Pat Deason. Dicks were operating at an absolute peak at this point, alternating damaged workouts that suggest Flipper or No Trend on one end and highly charged tracks in the vein of Minutemen or Tales Of Terror on the other. Straight out of the gate on 'Anti Klan,' the band trades blues-grounded guitar with squealing feedback and intensely political lyrics. The raw emotional sincerity of Floyd, who was openly gay in Reagan-era Texas, provides unmistakeable urgency to songs such as 'No Nazi's Friend,' 'Rich Daddy' and the title track, which remains one of the stone-cold classic punk anthems. Forty years on, 'Kill From The Heart' continues to smolder - an arresting testament to the possibilities embodied in creative rage. It is no surprise that Dicks have been covered by Mudhoney, Jesus Lizard and more. Superior Viaduct is honored to present this truly essential reissue on translucent red vinyl. DANDELION ADVENTURE - JOHN PEEL SESSION
Released for the first time ever, here is the Dandelion Adventure session that they recorded for the John Peel show in 1990. These tracks have never been released before on any album and were recorded exclusively for Peelie. Featuring a double drum attack (Geoff and Jason), bass (Ajay), guitar (Stan), and vocals (Mark). Recorded on 13 May 1990 at Maida Vale Studios, and broadcast on 18 June 1990. Engineered by Mark Farrar and produced by Dale Griffin... it's a monster sounding session.
The flip side of the album showcases the group's very first release... a demo tape they recorded in Blackpool in 1988 on a 4-track recorder (including fan favourite 'Speed Trials'). Plus a couple of songs that were recorded in their Oyston Mill rehearsal space in Preston. The whole album is a perfect capsule of the first and last thing the group ever recorded, and a brilliant reminder of the genius that this band exuded.
All on 180gr blue vinyl with an insert full of photos, posters, reviews, gigography. Dandelion Adventure were one of the greatest underground bands to emerge from Lancashire in the late '80s. At a time when the UK was fizzing with great groups like My Bloody Valentine, Bog-Shed, The Pastels, A Witness, bIG fLAME, and whilst more "established" underground giants like The Fall, The Nightingales, and Spacemen 3 were all going strong and steady, Dandelion Adventure certainly held their own. A band tendering the kind of leviathan rhythms that only early '80s Fall could have competed with, time changes that would make Captain Beefheart proud, and an experimental streak to get the pulse racing of any On-U-Sound fan. This is a limited edition release of 200 copies worldwide. You snooze, you lose!

HOLLIES - BBC SESSIONS 1963-1964-1965
This LP features sixteen tracks from the Hollies' earliest extant BBC sessions never previously released, including a newly discovered date from 1963 featuring the group's original drummer Don Rathbone. But the opening of 1964's 'Something's Got A Hold On Me' shows how much Bobby Elliot's dynamic drumming improved the group's sound. The recordings are almost entirely live with Graham Nash and Allan Clarke perfecting their Everly Brothers-style harmonies, while virtuoso guitarist Tony Hicks plays rhythm and lead at the same time. From mid '65, the BBC had brought in more advanced recording equipment, so you can hear extra vocal overdubs and reverberation on songs such as 'Stay' and 'I'm Alive.' Sound quality is exceptional and thanks to AI, we have managed to erase all those annoying DJ talkovers at the start and end of each track. The album includes a stereo version of 'Yes I Will.'

Once again they have drawn upon a wide range of influences, and 'Travelling By Candlelight' is a heady mix of choruses, hooks and catchy tunes in which you'll hear traces of psychedelia, post-punk, krautrock and more. It is a joint release between two cult indie labels: Old Bad Habits from Attica, near Athens, Greece, and Wiaiwya from London, UK.

This is Mulatu Astatke's protege and Ethiopian saxophonist and composer Jorga Mesfin's debut album. It's a long foray into Ethio-jazz that takes this courageous syncretism further by fusing spiritual experimentation with bits from all kinds of situations in Ethiopian music, jazz music, and specifically Ethiopian jazz music that precedes it. Jorga Mesfin is widely regarded as one of the most talented contemporary musicians and composers in Ethiopia. He started his professional career at the young age of 17 and has since collaborated with numerous renowned artists, including Tsegaye Gebremedhin, Carolyn Beard Withlow, The Last Poets, Vijay Iyer, Wayna Wondossen, Kirk Whalum, Takana Miyamoto, Gizze Reggae band, Dionne Farris, Aster Aweke, Mahmoud Ahmed, and Mulatu Astatke. Additionally, Mesfin was a resident at Astatke's legendary African Jazz Village in Addis Ababa every Thursday. Jorga Mesfin is the founder of the Ethio-jazz group called Wudasse. He composed the music for the epic Ethiopian film 'Teza' directed by Haile Gerima. His work on the film earned him the Best Music Award at the 22nd Carthage Film Festival and Best Composition at the 5th Dubai International Film Festival. Muzikawi is a record label, music publisher, studio, artist management, and event organizer based in Addis Ababa and Stockholm. With extensive experience in curating and representing artists from all regions, Muzikawi has a deep understanding and appreciation of Ethiopia's culture.

Originally released in 1974 on Shandar, 'Dream House 78'17"' is the second full-length album by La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela. This first-time US edition reproduces the original gatefold sleeve with beautiful calligraphy by Zazeela and liner notes by Young and French musicologist Daniel Caux. Side one was recorded at a private concert (on the date and time indicated by the title) and features Young and Zazeela's voices against a sine wave drone with Jon Hassell on trumpet and Garrett List on trombone. This work is a section of the longer composition 'Map Of 49's Dream The Two Systems Of Eleven Sets Of Galactic Intervals Ornamental Lightyears Tracery' (begun in 1966 as a sub-section of 'The Tortoise, His Dreams And Journeys,' which was begun in 1964 with Young's group The Theatre Of Eternal Music). The piece evolves with the oscillator changing pitch and dictating an ornate pattern over the course of the performance. Side two is an example of one of the sets of frequencies sustained in the 'Dream House,' the composite sound environments conceived by Young and Zazeela. The composer suggests listening while seated - to experience how the sound interacts with the room and other perceptions of its arrangement - as well as while walking. As Young states, "The frequency ratios are monitored continuously as lissajous patterns on the oscilloscopes and, in spite of the great stability of the oscillators, the phase relationships of the sine waves gradually drift which causes their amplitudes to add and subtract algebraically. Not only does the sound become a bit louder and softer, but at very loud levels, one actually begins to have a sensation that parts of the body are somehow locked in sync with the sine waves and slowly drifting with them in space and time."

Six years later, in 1971 Tusques would go ahead of free jazz. Wondering if free jazz wasn't a bit of a dead end together with Barney Wilen ('Le Nouveau Jazz') or even solo ('Piano Dazibao' and 'Dazibao N°2'), Tusques formed the Intercommunal Free Dance Music Orchestra, an association under the banner of which the different communities of the country would come together and compose, quite simply. If at first the structure was made up of professional musicians from the jazz scene it would rapidly seek out talent in the lively world of the MPF (Musique Populaire Française). Compiling extracts from concerts given between 1976 and 1978, 'L'Inter Communal' demonstrate the "social function" which
inhabited free jazz and popular music at the time calling upon
Spanish singer Carlos Andreu along with Michel Marre, Jo Maka,
Adolf Winkler and Jean Méreu. Andreu, claimed Tusques, was a griot "who created of new genre of popular song improvised with our music, based on events going on at the time." 'L'Inter
Communal' can start the festivities: on 'Blues Pour Miguel Enriquez,' it is first Thelonious Monk who is invoked in an
homage to one of the leading figures of the Chilean revolution, and a victim of Pinochet. The circumstances may be serious,
the music, though, is not. The musicians light a bonfire to bring together on the same frequency France and Spain, the
Americas and Africa: 'L'Heure Est A La Lutte' is the new song offered by the l'Intercommunal Free Dance Music Orchestra... As if proof were needed that their music is still more than timely!

'Les Amis D'Afrique' is recorded the following year, at the 'Tombées De La Nuit' festival in Rennes, bassist Tanguy Le Doré would weave with Tusques the fabric on which would evolve an explosive "brotherhood of breath": Bernard Vitet on trumpet, Danièle Dumas and Sylvain Kassap on saxophones, Jean-Louis Le Vallegant and Philippe Le Strat
on... bombards. With hints of modal jazz inspired by Coltrane or Pharoah Sanders, the Intercommunal Free Dance Music Orchestra is an ecumenical project which speaks to the whole world.

"To understand the significance of the word 'featuring' on 'Featuring Pharoah Sanders And Black Harold,' consider how infrequently Sun Ra used it and the exact way it had been used.
"The October Revolution in Jazz, organized by Bill Dixon in the West Village in 1964, presented a vivid cross section of approaches to the new music, including a sextet led by Ra. For the October Revolution's continuation, titled Four Days in December, held at nearby Judson Hall on the last days of 1964, the Arkestra performance presented Pharoah Sanders as well as a flautist (who was and remained obscure thereafter) named Harold Murray, nicknamed Black Harold. "It wasn't until long after Sanders had achieved worldwide acclaim with John Coltrane that Ra and manager Alton Abraham decided to issue the music they'd recorded at Judson Hall. After its first release in plain or hand-decorated covers in 1976, Featuring Pharoah Sanders And Black Harold remained an exceptionally rare item in the El Saturn discography, known to a few lucky collectors. "We're lucky to have this glimpse of what Sanders sounded like in such a different context, galvanizing the large group and in turn being inspired to make his first significant contribution on record."
