Prisoners was a German rock band formed 1964 in Kassel (as a beat band). They only did two singles, this is the debut single from 1974 with a hard bonehead rocker called 'Bride Of Devil' on the A-side and a more psych-popper on the flip. Very rare, hardly ever pops up at some online marketplace. Another 45 that will make your life as a DJ a whole lot easier!!! Not only kraut and heavy but this one will appeal to the Bonehead Crushers and Junkshop Glammers as well. Originally released in 1974 in micro numbers this might even pass as proto metal but... the B-side is more of a slow PSYCH jammer.

With a classic power trio line-up and stone solid dedication to the cream of 1960s British psych-pop sounds, Traum (German for Dream) draw their inspiration from the bands that originally defined the psychedelic aesthetic, including July, Tintern Abbey, The Beatles, The Pretty Things and The Smoke. Using vintage instruments, gear and effects complemented by classic production techniques, Traum bring analogue tape echo, delays and spring reverb to the mix, with truly mind-blowing results.
Primary singer and songwriter Helen Lichter makes the magic happen in Traum's own "dream studio" in Köln, Germany, where their debut single for Hypnotic Bridge Records was recorded in 2023. Launching their first-ever song, 'Hold The Line,' with a piercing riff that pays homage to The Smoke and other masters of UK psych circa '67, Traum presents an ode to the mystified daze of a Technicolor dream. Supercharged by vintage tape echoes and bursts of fuzz guitar, it's made to spiral deep into the double-helix matrix of multi-mirrored minds. 'Sunshine Song' counters the mistaken notion that ignorance is bliss with a message of universal appeal: a brilliantly illuminated path of enlightenment can take us all beyond the boundaries of Earth to the farthest reaches of the universe, both within and without (all whilst immersed in an infinite ocean of fuzz-laden vibration, of course).

Another gauzy glimpse of psych-pop sunshine rolls in from Doug Tuttle today. The a-side to this single from Six Tonnes de Chair, 'Anywhere You Run' lopes in on a gentle jangle and a sun-faded feeling that's hard to shake. The song is a bleary-eyed cruiser passing by in slow motion, but even so it seems to end too soon forcing the needle back to the beginning for replays again and again. Both sides of the single pair well with Tuttle's blissfully beautiful 'Dream Road' LP. The songs here are cut from the same cloth as the album's dream-doused psych-pop, wafting in on autumnal breezes that ripples just slightly in the sun.

BEVIS FROND - THE LONG STUFF (2LP)
'The Long Stuff' was originally released in 2002 as a limited edition CD. There were just 110 copies pressed and sold to the members of the then online 'Bevis Frond Community.' Since then it has never been reissued in any format. The album was a collection of unreleased tracks from Nick Saloman's archive, but what tied this lot together was that all of the tracks (bar one) were rather lengthy. When assembling this album for a double vinyl release, it required some extra music to fill four sides of vinyl. So what you have here are two sides taken from the original CD and a further two sides of previously unheard epics. These tracks were recorded between 1995 and 2020, and feature songs performed by Nick Saloman alone, and others with a full band. Some are home demos, while some are studio recordings. There's also one mammoth live recording. Other musicians featured are Adrian Shaw, Andy Ward, Paul Simmons and Dave Pearce. So to all those who don't go for long, self-indulgent workouts, you're not going to like this album. But for those who do... WOW! Limited to 1000 copies.

Dorotheo was formed in 2011 in Guadalajara, Mexico by Benjamín Zárate, Otto Malgesto, Anton Cerda and Vicco González. In 2013 the band released their first self-produced, self-titled album in which they established the essential elements of their sound. In 2014 Dorotheo made their first tour of the west coast of the United States, which was repeated in 2015, 2018 and 2019, highlighting their appearances at festivals such as Viva Pomona! (Pomona, CA), Northwest Psych Fest (Seattle, WA), Flower Fest (Seattle, WA), Portland Psych Fest (Portland, OR) and Caliblablabla Mini Fest in Tijuana. Additionally they have shared the stage with Tame Impala, !!! (Chk, Chk, Chk), Kinski, Masters Musicians Of Bukkake, Diminished Men, Los Dug Dugs, etc. 'Nada Escrito' is Dorotheo's third full-length album and a reflection of the band's evolution through the years. The project's progressive nature and their psychedelic rock foundation has blossomed to a different sonic direction, reminiscent of hauntology music, echoing the experimental spirit of bands like Broadcast, Stereolab or Silver Apples, yet landing ideas from Latin-American and Middle-Eastern music among many other influences with their signature song-writing, channeled by the production hand of Hugo Quezada (Progreso Nacional, Exploded View) and the musical possibilities enabled by the new line-up.

After many delays, Sorcerer is please as punch to finally reissue the debut LP from 1987 by Milwaukee space-rock gods, F/i: 'Why Not Now?... Alan!' Available for the first time on the format since its initial release, it remains a Holy Grail item for lovers of cosmic rock & roll sounds from Underground Amerika in the 1980s. F/i had been churning out tape upon tape of experimental electronics since the early '80s. Influenced by krautrock (particularly Cluster, Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel) and the harsh noise of industrialists Throbbing Gristle and early SPK, by the mid '80s they morphed into a fully fledged "rock" band, albeit one incorporating all of the above.
This LP is the perfect synthesis of these sounds: grimy, lo-fi "rock" with elements of industrial clang and extended, Hawkwind-ish space-rock jams; from the two-step cosmic churn of 'Electric Waltz' to the `Neubauten-style bang and bash of 'Zombie Theme'. Remastered by Mikey Young, the sleeve perfectly replicating the original, this edition is a limited edition of 500 copies.

Toronto 1970, three young guys, heavily influenced by Blue Cheer and Hendrix, get together to form a band. Featuring Charles Gadsby on guitar and vocals, Rick Skol on drums and vocals and Drew Tjernstrom on bass, the nascent outfit call themselves Gadsby & Skol. After much rehearsing they start to play local shows, but soon decide they need to do some more work on their sounds. In the end, the project stalls and they go their separate ways. Then in 1995 Charles Gadsby finds an old rehearsal tape and contacts the other two guys to suggest that they get back together to record the album they could have made back in 1970, if they'd ever got a recording deal. A little while later the recordings you have here are completed, and an album's worth of material is ready and waiting. The album eventually makes its one and only brief appearance on CD in 2001. Now here it is on vinyl for the very first time heavy and raw, just how it was meant to be. So if you like Thunder & Roses, Blue Cheer, Third Power and hard rocking psych guitar bands, you're going to love this! That's as close to a promise as we can make.

La Femme was born during the X years in Biarritz, when Sasha and Marlon started composing on their guitars music they recorded on Garage Band. Together they ride surfboards, pianos
and synthetiseur as they gave a try to various styles, from '60s yéyé French pop to Californian surf music. Marlon moved to Paris, and there he met Sam, who played bass. Together they formed SOS Mademoiselle along with Olivier Peynot, and played vintage French rock, as Sasha was practising his scales in reverb feed surf band Les Redoutables! After getting his grade, Sasha joined his friends in Paris, where they discovered French cold wave and synth pop, Marie & Les Garcons being one of their favourite. They polished a style that could be described as one of these following : Surf wave, Bizarre wave, strange wave, weird witch wave, silly mental wave or Psycho tropical Berlin. In fact anything you want as long as it ends with wave. And the boys created LA FEMME. Rock and pop, rococo bauhaus, fed from multiples influences (Krafwerk, Elli & Jacno) La Femme just want to please you. Generous and welcoming, she stretches you her white hand in the dark, if you grasp it, it could be the shiver of you life.

Black vinyl version. After a long hiatus, Soft Hearted Scientists returned in 2023 with their most ambitious album yet, packed with psych pop singles and longer sound journeys such as 'Waltz Of The Weekend,' 'Anemone Song' and 'Lost Mariners.' And now it's time for the album to make its first appearance on vinyl, courtesy of Fruits de Mer Records. There have been glowing reviews of the CD album, but one comment summed up the progress the album represents for the band in simple terms: "The pop songs have got poppier, and the weird songs have got weirder." Producer Frank Naughton came into his own at the mixing stage and helped to graft newly written sections into some songs which gave them more depth. 'Rode My Bike' was one such song, and the middle section of that then took on a life of its own to become a standalone track called 'Gadzooks!,' probably the most over-the-top song they have ever released, tipping its hat to the Butthole Surfers' cover version of 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' and James Bond themes along the way. 'Who Loves The Moon?' grew from a few chords and a repeated refrain of about 2 minutes into an 8 minute multi- sectioned trip; similarly, 'Lost Mariners' grew from a short mantra into an 11 minute ghost story. The album finished with obsessive attention to detail in 2023 was vastly superior to the album band leader Nathan Hall and his fellow members tentatively started in 2019. And now Fruits de Mer Records are more than a bit pleased to be releasing 'Waltz Of The Weekend' on vinyl - SIX sides of it (we try not to do things by halves). In addition to the 12 tracks from the 75 minute CD edition, side five of the vinyl set includes three radical remixes of the songs 'Rode My Bike,' 'What Grows Inside The Garden' and 'The Sea Anemone Song' by producer Frank Naughton, while the final side contains a sidelong remix/remake of elements of the album by Frank who ripped the songs to bits with glee, free from Nathan Hall's album mix obsessiveness, and remade them as he wished without inhibition - what a trip.

For their third Born Bad album, Cyril Cyril have invited two lads from Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, Inès Mouzoune, multi-instrumentalist from Amami, and Violeta Garcia's cello. Genosidra, aka Carlos Quebrada, who crafts club delicacies in Bogotá, mixed heavy, full gravy, a challenge given the quantity of material, recorded as a family affair at Insub Studio. On the ruins of Switzerland, people dance hard but consciously, and won't complain about them having a go at the homeland - notably in 'Swetzerland Bunker Love,' where they claim it's time to "free the money from the banks." There's something rotten in the state, wherever it may be, and they prefer to put its fall to music. And they're not shy about it, either: this album features heavy guitar/drums text-driven ballads, polyrhythmic noisy drum splatter with crafty vocal knitting, deconstructed and harmonically ambitious compositions, and Latino frog croaks, because yes, why not.
Since their previous efforts 'Certaine Ruines' and 'Yallah Mickey Mouse,' it turns out that the future isn't working out so badly for the two Cyrils, who each have a label to run. Bongo Joe for Yeterian, Insub for Bondi - who also beats the drum for La Tène in his rare spare time. And that's not counting with their supergroup Yalla Miku (with Hyperculte, Anouar Baouna, Ali Boushaki and Samuel Ades). Quietly sitting on crates of records, they patiently build their sound. Never tired of sick networks and never-ending struggles, Cyril Cyril live is a rousing mess, shouting out the common spleen while still managing to have a good laugh. Minimal and abundant, austere and generous, classic and baroque, Sophia Djebel Rose has succeeded in this gamble of combining the extremes, but it seems natural if we are willing to consider that some whispers have the force of a cry . 'Métempsycose' is made up of nine titles which are odes to forests and the earth, lullabies or songs of hope. Entirely recorded at home, on the high plateaus of Auvergne (middle of France), the album delivers this light specific to the mountains in which it was born. The artist says she often feels an intimacy with the world around her, insects, rocks, the very small and the very large. So this idea of metempsychosis, according to which our souls travel through beings, allows her to explain this intimacy with the world. The confidence and the musicality are of a standard one rarely hears. Michael Cullen Murphy was born and raised in Nashville and moved to the UK when he was nine. His father was friends with many notable musicians and since childhood he has been dabbling in folk and country. Despite this, Mike is better known as a reggae specialist, which is why we were so amazed when he played us the almost completed album. Not only does Mike have a rich singing voice, but his songs have an impressive depth and maturity. If one had to put some kind of label on the music contained within this record it would probably contain the words 'Americana' and 'Folk' but that doesn't tell the whole story. There are touches of classic singer/songwriter and psychedelia too. Suffice to say, you need to give it a listen and decide for yourself. Blue Matter are really proud to be able to release this fabulous album, Michael Cullen Murphy certainly has all the necessary credentials to make his mark.
It's been a long road, but well worth the journey."

Memes is John Meme and Paul Meme - a laptop rock duo from Glasgow, formed in February 2019. "Nine months is what Memes have taken to get together and release their first 7", whose strategy is based on a saturated lo-fi that makes post-punk and garage go hand in hand before the strings end up taking the control in favour of the motivating rock, implanting also its lyrical message in 'Happy Shopper', which takes it to the Sleaford Mods ground while the instrumentation is approaching a Christmas dyed of Bodega, getting noticed by the use of a megaphone with which they approach their lyrics to the people, causing the hips to not stop moving at any time, which well taken advantage of by 'Funny Man', means visiting the '70s, chanted by the '50s, generating a mosh whose limits are not yet defined." ~retratandovoces.blogspot.com.

'Between Us' was cut during the sessions for 'Hush' but Bryant notes that it didn't fit with the album. The melancholy tone of 'Hush' isn't as present in the sun-streaked pop bounce of 'Between Us.' Instead there's a sense of motion and crisp air. The song's not jubilant, but its trading wistful for winking which seems like a natural fit for Bryant. Despite its studio sheen, the simple setup feels like it shares a bit of DNA with Cronin and Segall around their humble Trouble In Mind days. Bryant hangs the song on the strength of a hummable acoustic hook, sweater-hugged harmonies, and a the kind of natural saunter that endears a song almost immediately. With a lyrical smirk at someone's know-it-all hijinks, the song is pretty relatable too. B/w 'House Of Mirror'.

Formed on the Isle of Wight in 1978 the four-piece of Nigel Hayles - guitar, Debbie Barker - lead vocals, Eric Biggs - bass and Hugh Kim Lewis on drums was originally known as Flirt before changing their name to Cassie in 1979; likely as a nod to Blondie whose songs the group favored along with the likes of The Pretender, Ramones and Eddie & The Hot Rods. Despite recording demos for Wilf Pine, the former mobbed-up co-manager for Black Sabbath, major label deals were not forthcoming. Thus Cassie issued their only single of two Barker penned, Pine-produced tracks, 'Change My Image,' backed-with 'Will You' on A.K.A. Records in 1982. Whether or not the name of the label used for the release - A.K.A. - was any reference to Pine's numerous underworld connections is unclear. What is clear, however, is the strength of the two Barker originals. 'Change My Image' is a bratty bubblegum-punk paean to future sell-out success ("Gonna kick off my jeans and start smoking fancy cigarettes!") while the furious guitar riffing on 'Will You' fortunately for today's listeners finds Cassie about three years out of step with the prevailing New Pop styles of 1982.
Instantly obscure upon issue, Cassie's only record became instantly hard to find. The band would continue to perform releasing only one other track on a regional compilation before finally breaking up in 1985.

OTPMD was created in November 2006 within Geneva's alternative culture. Famous underground club, the Cave 12 offered a "carte blanche" to the double-bassist Vincent Bertholet (Space Heads, Hum of Life). After some changes, the band solidified into a core line-up of double-bass, singing/violin (Liz Moscarola) and marimba (Anne Cardinaud). In 2009 they were joined by Seth Bennett from Bradford (trombone, ex-Headache), Maël Salètes from Lyon (guitar) and Wilf Plum from Brussels (drummer of the mythical Dog Faced Hermans, The Ex Orchestre). It is no coincidence that the band uses the name of the most famous surrealist. Like him, it is unconventional, mixing post punk, afro-beat, urban trance, tropicalism and experimental pop. Led by their extraordinary vocalist, the band captivates his audience with spasmodic noises and enlightened loss of control, in addition to surprising intimate and minimalist moments. The unusual instrumentation can unfold in squats as well as festivals, taking the audience to unknown lands and exotic, jubilating bazaars. Far from Dadaism, its name and dancing energy also come from legendary African orchestras OTP Konono No. 1, OTP Poly-Rythmo, le Tout Puissant OK Jazz...).

CASSIE - THE LIGHT SHINES ON
Originating on the Isle of Wight in 1978, the band that would eventually emerge as Cassie began initially appearing under the more denim-and-dog-collar monikers of High Voltage and Black Dog. A key moment in the nascent group's history came in late 1978 when Debbie Barker joined the group as lead vocalist and immediately formed a tight songwriting partnership with guitarist Nigel Hayes. Before long, fans of the group now known as Flirt, were calling out for the band's own punky/pop material, rather than their staple of covers, and singing along with them at their numerous local gigs. Several demo and recording sessions occurred between early 1980 and 1983 all of which remained unreleased until now. Despite local radio airplay and gigging, it was not until Flirt caught the attention of former Black Sabbath co-manager and producer Wilf Pine in 1981 that they group would issue what would be their first and only single. Under Pine's management and with the new name of Cassie, the group re-recorded new versions of 'Change My Image' and 'Will You' for a single release on A.K.A. Records in 1982. Despite the record's strength, A.K.A.'s untenable financial situation resulted in almost zero promotion for Cassie's single. Cassie continued to gig and record for a few more years before ultimately disbanding with its members joining other bands. A tragic moment in the band's history occurred in 2002 with the passing of original songwriter and guitarist Nigel Hayles. Thankfully, his great talents are now showcased within this album.

'Immediate' is a deepening of the sinister sonic territory they have been exploring, in various forms, since they formed. Bass lines and percussion lope through the undergrowth while jagged guitars pierce the ears. Then there's the brass section, which works less as a means of driving home a song's point, than as a warning that whatever comes next is unlikely to be anything you expect. Lyrics are still somewhat hard to make out, emerging from the rhythmic chaos at intervals, as though you were listening to the recording of an Old Testament prophet, preaching from the ruins of the twenty first century. I don't know what kind of band D.U.D.S. are supposed to be. There are labels you could apply to them, terms like wave and punk with various prefixes designed to qualify the fact that they don't really sound like anyone else. 'Immediate' makes that fact all the more obvious and all the more compelling.

Memphis' The Grifters made some of the finest recordings of Clinton-era America, with a number of albums on labels such as Shangri-La (their second and third LPs) and then Sub Pop for their remaining two albums. Australian post-punk band Pinch Points present the first-ever vinyl pressing of their 2018 debut EP 'Mechanical Injury,' celebrating the 5th anniversary of the release and featuring bonus track 'Pave Me.' This EP was originally released on cassette in 2018 through Roolette Records and Six Tonnes de Chair. 'Mechanical Injury' was self-recorded in the band's Coburg house over 3 hours, just months after forming. Listening today, this EP represents the start of the evolution of Pinch Points' songwriting. There's a carefree slant to these songs. PP went down the riff rabbit hole until sections seemed to reach their natural conclusions, feeling fun and comfortable.
This EP was notably featured in Bandcamp's top 100 releases of 2018. Editorial director J. Edward Keyes famously said: "...What comes across on 'Injury' more than anything is a pure, unfiltered sense of joy; make no mistake: the machine that's causing the titular injuries is capitalism, and the band is far from thrilled about it. But they've found a way to merge protest music with party music-think 'Rock Lobster,' if it were about overthrowing the government. Pinch Points put the "riot" back in "riotous." 200 copies on coloured vinyl.

VASSILIU, PIERRE - EN VOYAGES
'En Voyages' to Pierre Vassiliu, was not only the title of an album of his, but also a philosophy of life. Travels were not for vacation or rest. They were synonyms of meetings, new music and sometimes, simply, life. These experiences around the world nourished his work, and his career allowed him to set foot on every continent. But his most beautiful travels took place in recording studios. When Pierre was discovered by Eddie Barclay, he released an album where mainstream pop, Latin rhythms and Herbie Hancock's 'Headhunters'-inspired jazz-funk were perfectly mixed. Vassiliu switched to RCA, which marked the beginning of his 'African' period. But he became depressed from the music industry after sevral failures. By the beginning of the 2000s, Pierre's recording career seemed to be at a standstill. It took the strength of a handful of fans from his town of Meze to allow a final album to be funded: 'Pierre Precieuses', a blend of Africa, Guadeloupe and Latin America, with an Yves Montand cover, a "techno" track and a folk song. Not long after the release of the album, he was diagnosed Parkinson's disease. Pierre passed away in 2014. Comes with download code.

Born on November 25, 1912, Asmahan, whose real name was Amal al-Atrash, was a Syrian singer and actress of the first half of the 20th century. Modern and free, she was the sister of Farid al-Atrash; and perhaps the only singer able to compete with the famous Oum Kalsoum. Her private and public life is worthy of a Hollywood movie and was particularly eventful during the Second World War, where she played spy for Germany, France and Great Britain. She died in 1944, at the age of 32, in a mysterious car accident, leaving only a few recordings. This record features her most popular titles, to be rediscovered by the music enthusiasts of today. Remastered by Josh Stevenson at Otic Sound (Canada). Liner notes by Rabah Mezouane. English translation by Karolina Kubik.

For its second release, Elmir once again puts 1980s pop-raï in the spotlight with the identical reissue of Cheb Kader's masterpiece: 'El Awama.' Originally self-produced on cassette in 1986, this album was then released on vinyl by Michel Levy, who was then Cheb Mami's manager and producer. Back then, the album was not the hit it was expected to be, because a little too avant-garde for the time. But more than 35 years later, fans and collectors consider the few remaining copies as priceless. The raï of Cheb Kader is a subtle compromise between the melodies of Oranese suburbs, the electricity of Casablancan guitars and the roaring layers of reggae. The listener can only be fascinated by this 'Awama' (witch) who burns in his heart and to whom he declares his love; they can only be carried away by his hypnotic reggae-raï. This record is a rejuvenating find that makes you fall in love with the raï of the beginnings all over again. Music and lyrics by Kouider Morabet. A descendant of the Hausa (a people from the Sahel) born in Riyadh in 1947, Ettab was a celebrated singer, actress and activist... and perhaps the only female artist of Saudi origin of her time to claim an international career. This album, produced in Lebanon in 1992 by brothers Mahmoud and Ahmed Moussa for the label Relax-In, is a perfect introduction to her work. Resolutely modern in its pop arrangements with a finesse worthy of Curtis Mayfield, it takes Eastern classical music to new horizons. Ettab's undeniably beautiful voice is characterized by its original accent, which she refused to hide despite her exile to Egypt in 1980. After 15 albums and a few film appearances, Ettab devoted her time to defending the women's rights in the music world until her death in 2007 in Cairo. She is now a leading female icon in the Arab world, especially in her native Saudi Arabia. Official reissue of this Panamanian Latin-funk/soul classic by The Exciters from the early '70s. The Pan-Caribbean workforce brought in to build the Panama Canal shaped the musical culture on the isthmus, and it became a hot-spot for new rhythms. Growing out of the combos nacionales scene, one of the most successful funk and soul groups of '60s and '70s Panama, Los Dinamicos Exciters (later The Exciters) was led by drummer Horacio `Ray' Adams. Legendary in their day, the band were booked solid for years. Their core sound was Latin soul and funk (heavily influenced by James Brown) but they also played boogaloo, calypso and ska. The US Black Power movement struck a chord, especially in the Canal Zone, where Afro-Panamanians had long suffered discrimination. Co-founders of the Instituto Soul, the Exciters were the first to invite an African-American 'soul queen' to lead their carnival parade in 1971. Regular edition in red sleeve, limited to 400 copies.
