Obscure psychedelic gospel act Methuselah had its roots in Scunthorpe 'Beat' group the Dimples, which became Gospel Garden, whose only 45 infused northern soul with psych leanings. Regrouping as Methuselah, the group signed to Elektra for this sole religious rock concept LP, their sound deceptively American, with vocal harmonies evidencing bluegrass influences; guitarist Les Nicol is never short of excellent. Certain members would later form Amazing Blondel, but 'Matthew, Mark, Luke And John' has a unique flavour, and this edition includes two rare bonus tracks. This slice of obscure psych must be heard to be believed!

The Cyrkle produced one album's worth of solid garage rock, and it certainly proves that the band was an enthusiastic bunch of musicians. Much closer to late '60s garage (proto) punk than psychedelia, the album was released in 1969. They were best known for their 1966 song 'Red Rubber Ball' (written by Paul Simon) which went to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band was discovered and managed by Brian Epstein and given the unique spelling of their name by John Lennon. The group was formed by guitarists and lead singers Don Dannemann and Tom Dawes (bass guitar), who met while studying at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. The other members were Earl Pickens on keyboards and Marty Fried on drums. Includes 8 bonus tracks.

Could there really be a whole unreleased album, recorded by the original line up of Australia's garage punk gods Shutdown 66? Sometimes dreams really do come true:
Melbourne's legendary neo-garagepunkers Shutdown 66 are back for more! Featuring members of The Breadmakers, The Hekawis, The Puritans and Driveway Service these boys have created their
own unique and mindblowing sound, strongly influenced by '60s garagepunk and British R&B, that has a worldwide fanbase. Between 1998 and 2004 they released four smashing albums and several singles and split-singles. Now the lost master tapes have been unearthed and Soundflat Records can now bring you the
sound of a band performing at the absolute peak of their powers. On this album Shutdown 66 reached their zenith. They tackled all manner of styles in these 12 original compositions. There are screaming garage stompers, wild R'n'B ravers, fuzzed out rockers, and even a couple of the tragic teen twangers (from which the band took their name). Shutdown 66 wear their influences loudly and proudly on their snotty sleeves. Think of The Pretty Things, The Shadows Of Knight, The Belfast Gypsies and The Missing Links. Released on June 9th 1992, 'Always...' by The Gathering is one of the rare albums in metal that turned out to be a game-changer. On the debut album, the young Dutch band blended doom and death metal with prominent keyboard parts. It featured female vocals in an era when the metal scene was still a male-dominated environment. The album showcased how heavy sounds could be enriched by diverse musical influences. Consequently, 'Always...' laid the foundation for subgenres like gothic metal, often referred to as female-fronted metal or what is now recognized as progressive metal - a term commonly used today. The Gathering were true pioneers, opening doors not only for themselves but also for other Dutch bands such as Within Temptation, After Forever, Epica, Kingfisher Sky, Nemesea, and Delain. In retrospect, their influence extended globally, inspiring acts like the predominantly Norwegian Nightwish, the American Evanescence, and the Italian Lacuna Coil. Above all, The Gathering's debut album is a unique masterpiece, characterized by well-constructed songs and clever arrangements. Upon its release, the album received rave reviews, leading to global commercial success. 'Always...' firmly established The Gathering as the leading band in the flourishing Dutch metal scene of the early '90s. Following the album's release, the band embarked on a remarkable journey, touring alongside Paradise Lost, performing for a massive crowd of 8,000 while opening for Faith No More, and receiving invitations to perform in Israel. All these achievements were realized by a group of mostly teenagers who still lived with their parents and were expected to attend school every day.

But once recording was completed, Oliveri decided to shelve the tapes; it wasn't until several years later (well after Queens Of The Stone Age began to establish themselves) that the bassist decided to release the songs on a friend's indie label, Southern Lord Records. Going by the name Mondo Generator, 11 tracks were compiled for the 2000 release 'Cocaine Rodeo'. The majority of the songs are much more raw and hardcore/punk-based than Oliveri's output with QOTSA, as evidenced by such tracks as 'Shawnette,' 'Uncle Tommy,' 'Unless I Can Kill,' and 'I Want You To Die.'

Las Nubes was founded by Emile Milgrim and Ale Campos, two key women in Miami's noise scene. Following the EPs 'Matter That Soils Or Blackens' (2014), 'Conveniently Broken' (2015), and 'Some Things To Let Go' (2017), the band released their debut album 'SMVT' in 2019, and a year later a split album with Palomino Band. Endorsed by no other than Iggy Pop, the band has been featured at publications such as KEXP, NPR, KCRW, Rolling Stone, Radio 3, Idioteq, Mondo Sonoro, Post-Trash, Indie Rocks and Ruta 66. In 2023, the band released a double single with Thustoon Moore's (Sonic Youth) label Ecstatic Peace/Daydream Library before joining Spinda Records to put out their second studio album 'Tormentas Malsanas.' Including singles 'Would Be' and 'Pesada,' the album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jonathan Nuñez (Torche) and it's coming out in as part of the label's 'Noisy Series' (together with albums by Fin del Mundo and Adelaida) as limited to 300 copies on coke bottle green marbled vinyl. Style: indie-rock, shoegaze, alt rock, dream pop, grunge. FFO: Pixies, Hole, Lush, My Bloody Valentine.

CD1 features 'Ein Glücklicherer Zufall: Genau Zu Lang' (translated: 'A Happier Accident: Exactly Too Long'), an hour-long part studio/part live collaboration between seminal anti-music stalwarts The New Blockaders, and purveyors of the absurd Grinder-without-Organs. 'Ein Glücklicherer Zufall...' shows a different side to TNB's trademark obliterating noise offensives with a more collaged, musique concrète approach. CD2 opens with G-w-O Live at Cafe OTO - "Showcasing a singer who has no voice, musicians who have no instruments, and a bandleader who has no direction." 2024 album of shimmering, heathen drone from TenHornedBeast - the ritual doom-drone project of Christopher Walton (Endvra).
The wild goats (Capra Hircus) of the Cheviot hills have lived there for millennia and are the Avatars of the wild places. If there is a heathenry left on this island, it is to be found the places where the wild goats gather, in the secret valleys and alongside nameless burns. They are the Children of Pan in an Arcadia that straddles both the imagination and the real world.
This is TenHornedBeast intentionally moving in a different direction from the cryptic doom-ambient of 2022's 'The Lamp Of No Light.' 'Capra Hircus' is full of the glowing sunrise of hill-top psychedelia and shimmering, spiralling drones that mimic the abstract lines of the rock-art panels that mark the landscape. The music flows outwards and immerses the listener in looping, hypnotic waves of feedback. "I dream in landscapes and this is very much an "outdoor" album. When I was recording these pieces I was hoping to capture the openness and sense of wonder that I get from the high places. I've walked these hills for many years, where earth and sky meet and I was searching for a new way to be TenHornedBeast, although it's very much the same ideas that inspired me twenty years ago - just seen in colour."
