To get inspiration for the creation of the new album "Behind the Bend" Lisa spent time in a small cottage located deep in the vast woods of Vastmanland, Sweden, where she enjoyed the last breath of the summer. Every evening she and David walked further in to the woods to an old rowing boat that lay on the edge of a forest lake. In the light of the magically ever glowing Swedish summer midnight sun they paddled across the lake and then further along a forest creek with lush green trees that hangs down over the fresh running water and water lilies. This is the kind of set and setting where you travel into another world..and they did. The initial recordings were made under a vaulted blue ceiling with gold stars in the old 15th century timber church of Hjulsjo, Sweden. The new album is filled with delicious and bewitching watery woodland folk hymnals, eloquent yet eerie. The harp has been given more space, the violin plays a greater role, the twelve-stringed guitar plays graceful melodies and all is led by Lisa's gossamer vocals, as delicate as a wavering candle flame. There were several progressive psychedelic groups in Japan in the early 70s including the short-lived Love Live Life + 1. The band played a few live gigs and released this lone album before disbanding. The group consisted on 9 musicians and the "Plus One" seems to refer to vocalist Akiri Fuse who had been a pop vocalist since the mid-60s and appearing on albums since 1967. Most of the musicians were obscure except for keyboard player Hiro Yanagidawho was a member of the highly acclaimed Foodbrain and later Strawberry Path whose album When The Raven Has Come To Earth was released the same year of Love Will Make A Better You, and guitarist Kimio Mizutani who was in the band People that released the massively rare Ceremony - Buddha Meets Rock. Love Live Lifes only record is a mix of blues-based psychedelia that pushes into progressive and even avant-garde realms at times, while the skronky sax playing even recalls the edgier end of the jazz spectrum. It contains field recordings of amateurs playing / making sounds. Raga concrete, if you will. A playground, drummers and fiddlers, a garden cafe, children, one track simply titled "Gronas" ("Green"). Time to getcher esoteric on. The title roughly translates to Play Yourself or Play Naturally. The album is sometimes credited to Träd, Gräs och Stenar, but they're not featured on this album. Amos Key owed great debts to Bach, Beethoven and Schumann, adding a heavy krautrock twist to a music closely resembling the Nice or Egg, full of angst and weird psychedelic and space-rock touches (Freeman Brothers: In A Crack In The Cosmic Egg). Amos Key lived in Munich and consisted of great organ-player Thomas Molin, congenial bass-player Andreas Gross and superb drummer Lutz Ludwig. This fairly competent outfit recorded the radio sessions before they released their famous and very rare album "First Key" in 1973 on label "Spiegelei". Sadly bandleader and organ-player Thomas Molin passed away in the 90ies but bass-player Andreas Gross tells the band story in a very vivid and funny way. 24 pages booklet contains also a lot of unseen photos. It is also the very first death metal recording with lyrics spat out in the Finnish language. Rippikoulu began their musical endeavours back in the late eighties, and like so many of their contemporaries, evolved from primitive punk noise to death metal. However, while many bands played death metal with groovy riffing and overall headbanging attitude, Rippikoulu's choice of style was darker. Their downtuned metal is bleak and nearly unbearably heavy in its execution, dark and soul-searching in its themes, intertwining faster bursts of chaos with slow, doomy passages. Rippikoulu released the Musta Seremonia demo album on tape in 1993 and then disappeared. They never gained much popularity in their time, but their legacy has steadily grown in time. Countless metal fans worldwide have adored their shoddy bootleg copies of the Musta Seremonia tape - now the stars are finally right for a legitimate re-release. 0341002 CD ERA 20552 NEXTERA	RICHTER BAND - SMETANA Pavel Richter gained the reputation as an extraordinary talented creative guitarist already in 70's, while playing in Czech progressive rock bands Elektrobus and Svehlik. In the middle of 80's he started to discover new horizons and concentrated on a calm music full of subtle sound structures. One of the highlights from that creative period is the album called "Smetana" ("Cream" in English), recorded mostly during the Spring of 1990 on a 4-track cassette recorder Tascam Porta II, then mixed and edited on Akai reel-to-reel stereo tape deck. The basic of this album, which became a milestone in the evolution of Czech ambient music, is Richter Band's fusion of Richter's gentle electric guitar with the unique instrument called Fidlerofon. This melodic percussive instrument made of pots (with the character of sound close to Gamelan or Tibetan bowls) was invented by Czech experimental musician Lubo Fidler. Fidlerofon is played on by 2 of Pavel Richter's band mates. The album Smetana" was until now released only on the cassette in 1991. Half of the selections are making their CD debut. These include Lights Of Mexico' by Russell Byrd (the recording alias of songwriter-producer Bert Berns), two titles by Bobby Sheen (soon to reach the Top 10 under Spector's guidance as the lead vocalist of Bob B. Soxx & the Blue Jeans) and both sides of an ultra rare 45 by Terry Day (aka Terry Melcher, the son of Doris Day). "The Beale Street Sheiks" was the moniker used by Memphis guitar duo Frank Stokes and Dan Sane for their Paramount recordings (made in Chicago in 1927 and 1929). Stokes (1887-1955) was one of the earliest Memphis bluesmen, and his distinct vocal and guitar style, has been imitated by many bluesmen since. Not only did he have a truly distinct style, but his repertoire was one of the most enormous and diverse in the history of blues, and his songs have become a living history of a bygone era. 0341025 2xLP MKDLP 322 8013252453229 MONK	BRACEY, ISHMAN - SUITCASE FULL OF BLUES (2LP) One of the best, if lesser known Delta bluesmen of the 1920s, singer and guitarist Ishman Bracey (1901-1970), along with his good friend Tommy Johnson (MK320DLP), began playing juke joints first in Jackson, and then all over Mississippi around 1917, but did not make is first recordings until 1928. He recorded his first sessions for the Victor label with Charlie McCoy on second guitar, but by 1930 his recording career was over.likely due to the onset of the Great Depression which made recording industry dry up for the next decade. Bracey eventually left the blues scene for the church, and his blues output is therefore rather slim. He recorded a total of just 16 tracks in all and original 78s fetch high sums. This thirteen track full length album (all new exclusive tracks) differs from the out and outergalactic cinematic sampling of his Plug Research material by throwing a spanner into his sampler. Several tracks drop a new pallet of disguised rave stabs, junglist rhythm wreckage which wrestle with his new style of cinematica - you are amongst a bewildering array of influences in perfect harmony. Imagine new school Vibert getting down with his classic Plug output. 'Desperate Measures' and 'Escape Artists' are two examples of tracks that'll keep the downtempo fans happy - one track sampling Charlie Parker with Strings and the other cutting up The Beach Boys.
