This is the 6th release by the completely improvised space rock band from the Oresund region in Scandinavia. The band is made up of members from Copenhagen, Denmark and the Malmo , Sweden area. The music on this LP was recorded at the Black Tornado Studios (Copenhagen) in October 2008. The music on this LP follows in the footsteps of our previous work but is a bit more like our earlier material but also we enter into the realm of jazz space rock with the track Space Jazz Jam 2.2, which features Anders on Saxophone. High Pilots is taken from the last jam of the studio session and is a very dynamic and moody piece of music. The rest of the jam will be released in the future on CD. A totally improvised spoken word piece by Dr. Space ends the LP. If the record sells well, we expect to release more material on vinyl format by the Oresund Space Collecive. |

To set the scene: it's 1974, it's Paris, two young guys in their bed-sit (one of whom is French music maven/famous producer Jay Alanski) are dreaming of counter-culture, and their internal versions of California and New York. The result is this album, a child begotten of Marc Bolan, Baudelaire, and Lautramont; a fascinating record, subtle and engaging as it is scarce; the re-creation of a parallel pop universe which one Michael Moorcock wouldn't have renounced. Somehow, the duo get their record out into the world on Monde Melody's one-off 'Silk' imprint (a tribute to Marc Bolan). And what twisted songs (in English) they managed to squeeze into a fifty-minute slab of vinyl. The music drips with deep nostalgia for the decadent 'beautiful people' who lived and breathed and then found a home in the songs of Lou Reed and Leonard Cohen, pervaded throughout with a kind of psychedelic sadness. All of this is expressed by means of long jagged acid guitar runs (or in acoustic strums) supported by Moroccan percussion (bongos) and heavy bass lines from Christophe J. A post-quaalude album, as band leader Jay Alanski has said. If the LP had been released in 1971, everyone would point to T-Rex as an influence, and call it 'glam folk'; fast forward to today and it's hard not to think 'loner' and draw comparisons with the music of Devendra Banhart, albeit recorded 35 years ago! We're now several decades further on in the world's slow self-destruction, but this sole recording by the Beautiful Losers has lost nothing of its freshness and superb arrogance. They may have been downgraded over the intervening years to a retrospectively-acclaimed, collector-type act, but at the time Skip Bifferty were genuine contenders: significant radio support for their singles, heavyweight management (courtesy of the notorious Don Arden), and afforded Next Big Thing status by the weekly pop papers. Sadly, though, it didn t quite work out. Despite receiving rave reviews, the band s eponymous album failed to elevate them to the premier league, largely due to RCA s bizarre decision not to release it until the summer of 1968 a full year after it had been completed. Not that such record company procrastination matters now, as the album has long been regarded as one of the most dazzling examples of the British psychedelic pop genre. It forms the basis of this new, definitive Skip Bifferty collection, which, for the first time, gathers their entire studio output under one roof. Pride of place goes to three previously unreleased recordings, all taken from the original master-tapes. Jesus Smith (The Other Side Of) is the band s semi-legendary, hitherto-lost debut studio recording, while there are two versions of Skizoid Revolution , a song that has previously only been available with a guest vocal from Alan Hull. As with all Skip Bifferty material, these far superior versions feature the soulful tones of the band s lead singer, the hugely underrated Graham Bell. From Changes' inception, R.N. Taylor and Nicholas Tesluk have woven bardic tales of gallantry, chivalry and of larger-than-life legendary and mythical heroes. They've sung of new love, love unrequited and love lost. They've written songs painting sonic imagery foretelling a dark apocalyptic future, which later came to pass while currently prophesying a society in the seminal stages of an even darker fate. With their new album, Lament, they turn their gaze inward, to their own personal apocalypses, stemming from their long marriages ending in dismal dissolution. They tell of their dark, oppressive inner-world that sought to drive them beyond the brink of despair. Only by being able to immerse themselves in their art and create works expressing these sorrows would they be able to maintain their sanity. Lament reaches out to all who've had their lives disrupted by modern societal partners going through mid-life crises, becoming antagonistic strangers to their families overnight. The song entitled "The Invisible Man" tells a tale based on H.G. Wells' novel with a personal twist. In their song "Emily", the historical figure of poetess Emily Dickinson comes to life. The "Mountains of Sorrow (Remix)", is an instrumental song enhanced by the deft arrangement, musicians and singers of Der Blutharsch with a voice-over by R.N. Taylor of his heart-rending lyric poetry. Also included, new versions of three of Changes' earlier works; "The Saddest Thing", "Sweet Eve" and "Memorabilia" as these songs merged well with the album's concept. GARTEN KIRKHOF - LOST TAPES 1988-1994
Garten Kirkhof was formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1988 - but the foundations lay far more back in Sacramento, California in 1980. At that time in musical history, there were amazing and magical things brewing. Bands that would later become revered and influential had just recently formed (Christian Death, Magazine, Joy Divison, Bauhaus...) and their music made a huge impact on a relatively small, but discerning group of people. Two of them being a couple of young guys in the US Air Force, who were disillusioned with their jobs, life and especially the repetitive, mindless, crap being played on most radio stations at that time. These two guys (Veto and Wayne) started to work together since the early eighties, but it was only in 1988, when they started to record first tracks under the name Garten Kirkhof, with singer Jeffrey. This CD compiles the earlier tracks of the project, heavily influenced by Joy Division, early Christian Death, Bauhaus, Modern English. File under: Cold wave / US Goth Rock / Death rock. |

Debut album of Varsovie, "Etat Civil" has been recorded end 2008 at Drudenhaus studio (France), after about sixty concerts in Europe, and follows the EP "Neuf Millimètres" out in 2006. In a rock / post-punk style, these 11 tracks are in keeping with an effervescent, radical, melancholic and raw musical tradition, supported by Symbolist, Decadent or Expressionist french lyrics. "Etat Civil" gathers historic and personal crisis to capture some vertigos in a resolutely contemporary approach. |

VICIOUS CIRCLE - BARBED WIRE SLIDES
Lucie Dehli and Stephan Ink are a duo of experimental musicicians, that started its musical carrier under the name of Vicious Circle on legendary British label SomeBizarre (Soft Cell, The The, Einsturzende Neubauten...). Barbed Wire Slides came originally out in 1990, and is now re-released with a previously unavailable track of the same period. The band later released two albums in France under the band-name VIEW on Les Disques du Soleil et de l'Acier (DAS). The voice of Lucie Dehli attracts the attention of German label Hyperium, and the song Bikeride has been included in the extremely successful Heavenly Voices sampler. A few years ago, the 2 musicians decide to settle in Belgium where they now take part in the experimental collective project of Jean Marie Mathoul -48 Cameras- (featuring David Coulter, Michael Gira, Rodolphe Burger..) and in 2006 they give birth to Elephant Leaf, a nuanced evolution of their previous works. 20 years have passed since :Leichenlinie: got released the 1st time, and 10 years since it got released the 2nd time as CD accompanied with the :Truth will make you free: album. And now it shines here as the totally remastered 20 years anniversary edition. Completed with 2 additional tracks recorded around the same time and formerly released on the Monochrome Meditator MC only (SSSM / Japan 1991). This material stands for one of the most wanted records in this genre for all times. :Leichenlinie: remains as an outstanding release in the German post industrial music genre. The well-balanced music contains power electronic rhythm based tracks as well as dark drowning ambient pieces with haunting samples. Tracks like Klaus Barbie, Mind Control and Come Orgasm are played on various stations, parties and radios for the last 20 years. The two additional tracks, so far unknown to the majority, are fitting perfectly to the line-up of the early industrial-rhythm driven sound of the band. The CD comes in a nice spot varnished digipack with the logo debossed on the front cover, similar to : In-Konflikt :. Genocide Organ got founded in 1985. :Leichenlinie: compiled G.O. material that got recorded between 1987-1989 at Strebelwerk / Mannheim. Originally released in 1989 as Tesco 001. :Leichenlinie: is still an outstanding milestone in European "post industrial" music as it let loose new creative energy of a genre which was thought to be dead. The socio-political criticism, and cultural-terrorist approach is inherent. A document of its time! The opening opus of the band's restless striving for more depth in a shallow reality, in a society that likes to hide the unpleasant and controversial sides of life. T-MODEL's first, and only, ACOUSTIC album! On July 22, 2008, James "T Model" Ford stepped into Planet Paul Studios in Wichita, KS at the end of his first formal tour in years. Rumors of his demise had been laid to rest after two weeks of T-Model's performing his raw, rough, & tumble blues. T wanted to play acoustic guitar and have 100% control over the record, so everyone agreed he should do it the way he wanted. The engineer simply let the tapes roll & T-Model made it look easy. One song after another just rolled out of him. "The Ladies Man" is the product of this afternoon session in Wichita. This is pure T Model, with some newer young musician friends playing along with him. It is also the only acoustic album T has ever recorded and it's a blast. "I don't have a care in the world," T-Model would remark occasionally. He'd back it up by taking time in the studio to sip Jack Daniels from his flask and tell "blue" stories or tales of his life's hardships to his new set of listeners. At 88 years old, he appeared younger and livelier than many folks a fraction of his age and this amazing record is the proof. |
