108 is the diabolic passion we need to fight everyday to turn ourselves into Buddah. 108 is also a magic and exoteric number present in many mystic religions and cultures. All you need to discover about the real nature of this world: pure fiction! Two cover songs about the diabolic passion from great Italian artists of the 70s like Biglietto per l'Inferno and Franco Battiato. 108 are the evil passions that beset us and we must battle to become Buddha. In Japan, a bell rings 108 times in order to finish the old and welcome the new year. Each stroke is one of 108 earthly temptations a person must overcome. 108 are the techniques of karate and 108 are also the parts of the Buddhist rosary (Japa Mala). This number is often used in the Buddhist religion as well as in Hinduism and its considered sacred to many peoples in the East. The Hindu Kshatriya Dhangars have 108 clans divided into solar and lunar dynasties. They speak from thousands of years of knowledge and a scientific fact known only in the past centuries: the diameter of the sun is almost 108 times the diameter of Earth, the distance from the Sun to the Earth is almost 108 times the diameter of the Sun, and the average distance from the Earth's Moon is almost 108 times the diameter of the Moon. We were fascinated by these astral and religious coincidences and 108 from Ballo delle Castagne is only one a chapter devoted to human evil in all its manifestations. In this context, we must frame the band as a tribute to the Biglietto per l'Inferno or 70 years of Franco Battiato La Convention / Paranoia. Even today many of these remain unknown and unacknowledged masterpieces to the Italian public as well as their authors. We therefore recall a time full of hopes and dreams for millions of men and women, where the utopia of a better world went slowly vanished at the end of the 60s. As the lotus grows in mud without showing any traces that might betray its origins, its leaves and its stem, while floating in water not wet, so it's also the wise man who lives in the world, but is not of the world.

A gloriously subdued affair, largely comprised of simple guitar arrangements, stripped-down percussion and soft singing (male and female) punctuated by bouts of power tools and gated feedback. The somber psychedeliosis is embedded in a loose atmosphere of echo and electronics recalling the beautiful ambiguity of Deux Filles; or Joao Gilberto if he fell off a Durutti Column into a vat of mescaline. Duulicious! With such a fried gamma-blues bringing up the rear, days could get lost while being reborn in this slithery tonal placenta. Tenniscoats: Tenniscoats are a group from from Tokyo, Japan featuring Saya and Takashi Ueno, often helped by other musicians and non-musicians. They, in turn, have performed in, or collaborated with a large number of underground bands and musicians like Maher Shalal Hash Baz (with Tori and Reiko Kudo), Cacoy (with DJ Klock of Clockwise Records), Puka Puka Brians and other artists on Tenniscoats very own Majikick label. Both Saya and Ueno also perform and release solo works. LSD March: LSD March is a Japanese psychedelic rock group, based in the city of Himeji, Japan. It is led by singer and guitarist Shinsuke Michishita. The group is named after a track by krautrock group Guru Guru.

Now you're messing with a sun of a bitch. Let's count backwards. The second disc in this set "Quetzalcoatl" diffuses into the air an alien vocabulary of electronicesque gargles and hums. A soundtrack made from the residue left after a subterranean dowsing for the echoes of collapsing stars. These disembodied post-transmissions form up in a Minervas Web of sunken Titanic ghosts, slow moaning as from distant caverns. Disc one of the set, "Tezcatlipoca" is the actual collapsing of stars. Or, perhaps the exploding majesty of every days new sun being reborn, as it once again defeats those Xibilbas and rises to arc through its dominion again. This monstrous soul goes from grumbling angrily to mowing the heavens. Parts even cross into early Swans territory with aggressively fractured pacing. But all roads lead to the final track which is an epic length doom metal anthem of sweating proportions. Wave after wave of crushing fuzz slowly pummel speakers into diamonds and rust. A relentless solar rotorvating blasterpiece. Which brings us to part 3 of this 2 CD set. Both CDs have been composed to also be played simultaneously, in a much more useable fashion than the Zaireekas of the world. So, if "Tezcatlipoca" is overground and "Quetzalcoatl" is underground (or, more likely, the reverse) their combination must be all things..and no things. Maybe the sound of the end of things. The end of the The Scene Is Now reissue line: going backwards from 1988s Tonight We Ride to 86s Total Jive and right on through to their extremely rare 1985 debut, Burn All Your Records. Recorded in 1984, BAYR was laid to tape when the band was still musically pretty raw and yet to blossom into the melodic powerhouse they became over their subsequent two LPs. For many, this is also its greatest assett. A parallel Ive often used in the past is the musical evolution of the not-too-dissimilar Meat Puppets throughout their first three discs: from an almost amelodic chaos through to a streamlined pop band in three shakes. On BAYR, The Scene Is Now were tearing out a ramshackle brand of Dada-infused post-No Wave folk-rock which was part DNA, part Fall, part Fugs and equal doses of Pere Ubu and the Red Krayola. Theres been nothin like em before or since. BAYR is twenty tracks of primo slop-pop in just under 40 minutes. Its the sound of four NYC gentlemen kicking against the pricks in Reagan-era America. Its some of the best hardly-discovered underground rock n roll being made in the 1980s. Its finally available again, remastered from the original tapes and featuring a full-colour 16-page booklet with liner notes by Wire/Uncut scribe Jon Dale and Dave Lang and a wealth of exclusive photos from the period. And, yes, it does feature "Yellow Sarong", as later covered by Yo La Tengo.

"Anal Aura Gram" is a vinyl version of the long deleted CDR that came in limited quantities with the 2003 album "Aural Anagram" and also features a bonus 7" disc of two remixes by Steven Severin (Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Glove). How many lives would be saved if every one had an Anal Aura Gram? Andrew does offer a sort of audio high-colonic by flushing unwanted polyps with his unpredictable attacks and decays. Liles has developed a compositional technique that makes individual sonic shifts as compelling as the music itself. The tones arise from submarine-crushing depths into the tails of comets, except when they are suddenly transported into the gut of a mountain. Or into the strangely populated belly of a whale. Harmonicas within crystals within faerie fyre? Inside every out-worldly dream-drone is a debris field of small, lovingly constructed noise stabs which strike like matches or coil like cobras. Fizzling, sighing, groaning under-carriage sounds ping and rattle in and out like the quiet clamour of an old house, next to an old church, built on an ancient Indian burial brothel.
