Seems only 200 copies were pressed and never distributed, so it needed 35 years to be discovered! Having released a series of 7" singles that range from psychedelic, pop and even heavy funk, collectors are pushing one another aside in an attempt to obtain his legendary work. While his psychedelic guitars and flutes have collectors drooling at the mouth, his heavy funk moments can be heard rocking dance floors in clubs across the world. This album, his sole lp release "African Jumbo", is both the rarest, and most in demand album from Iran, dated sometime in the mid 70s. GOLDEN RING - GOLDEN RING
As collectors continue to explore and discover new music from around the world, one country that's starting to gain momentum is Iran. Iran has been a mystery to collectors for many years, and even today it remains a blackbox to most. Within the rubbles of Iran's lost musical history comes Golden Ring, one of the first, and most prodominent Iranian garage groups from the 60's. Based in Tehran, Golden Ring recorded and released a series of songs on 7" during the late 60's and early 70's before disbanding. They were one of the first Iranian bands to be influenced by Western music such as The Beatles, combining traditional Iranian instrumentation and melodies with structures found in UK and North American rock and pop. This combination resulted in an Iranian take on garage music during the genre's climax. One of the members of Golden Ring, Arif, later went on to become a solo artist, and over time became one of the legendary artists within Irans musical landscape. His solo material spread across 45's, soundtracks and generations of fans. Sadly Golden Ring never recorded or released a full length album, but through a lot of hard work and effort we are pleased to offer a full length compilation of Golden Ring's music for you to enjoy. 0331727 CD SKRCD 23 SHADOW KINGDOM	REACTOR - THE REAL WORLD Back in the late 70s Richard Kueht and Paul Trowbridge played guitar in PENTAGRAM before being replaced by Victor Griffin, who were all familiar with. They hooked up with Steve Angel (singer/bass) and drummer Ronnie Sharpe and formed REACTOR. They played some live gigs in the mid 80's, one that is featured in this release. Shortly after the gig, Richard moved down to Florida and was replaced by Mike Reid, and at that time renamed the band THE REAL WORLD. They ended up only recording a 6 song studio EP which is the first 6 songs off of this release, that was never released until now. As far as their sound is concerned, it just came out natural for them, nothing forced, just basically some guys jamming good old SABBATH/PENTAGRAM influenced dirty Rock N Roll with a "social relevant" lyrical message to the fans. The music is raw, heavy, and catchy. After many line-up changes (even Joe Hasselvander (he played guitar) was in the band at one point), they decided to call it quits as it was more or less something for these guys to hang around and do with no pressure and to let off some steam rather than a band looking to go somewhere. This is one of the most obscure 80s bands around the Maryland/Virginia area, but I can tell you this is without a shadow of doubt quality Heavy Metal/Rock and deserves to be in anyones metal collection whos looking to complete their Maryland/Virginia Doom collection. Green arrived in the mid-1980s, amidst a Chicago scene that included bands like Naked Raygun, Big Black, and Ministry (and eventually, Material Issue and Smashing Pumpkins). Green bypassed the major label-express that many of those other bands rode to fame and fortune, and continued to make records their own DIY way, records which were lauded in the pages of Trouser Press, Spin, and The Village Voice, among others. And with each passing year there are an increasing number of folks who are convinced that their debut LP is worthy of those Mojo/VH1/Spin/ lists of the top 50 or 100 rock albums of all time. From the first pulsating, exuberant notes of the intro, the band knows what they want to say: kids get ready, gotta rock steady, because they 'Gotta Getta Record Out,' they are trying to 'Curry Your Favor,' they play the records, and maybe most of all, they want to be 'Big in Japan'! One astute reviewer said: 'The band darts through decades of pop history as impatiently as the 'Spiral Scratch'-era Buzzcocks, with band leader Jeff Lescher's voice ranging from Princely falsetto to gravel-tinged field holler, but most often sounding as though someone stepped on Paul McCartney's toes in 1965. And as another reviewer quite rightly said, 'This is such a flawless pop masterpiece that I'm not even ashamed to trot out terms like 'flawless pop masterpiece.'" Green may be the bee's knees for anglophile power poppers, but they deserve more notice than that; they were the kind of all-embracing band, with a taste for punk, glam rock and soul and with a twitchy sort of energy of the sort that burbled around in the late-80s, pre-grunge underground (a little Feelies anyone?). It remains a mystery why other bands are fixed in the collective memory as the era's best at the very least, Green should make a list of top obscure pop groups of all time! Booklet has band history and lyrics, plus many a fine photo, all courtesy of Lescher. Seven bonus tracks, including the CD debut of the band's 1984 EP 'The Name of This Band is Green. Printed on FSC recycled, chlorine-free, 100% post-consumer fiber paper manufactured using biogas energy. Their (first) 45 had two absolute masterpieces: 'Gotta Getta Record Out' which yelps and shouts along like the best of the old Bongos or Jam or Feelies or somebody, and 'I Don't Want To Say No', which is the sort of white Motown that assholes like the Replacments could never get right. This is not a punk record, except perhaps in spirit, but it isn't any worse for that. Steve Albini

We did other recordings as well and from them Frans put together this excellent single. Prometheus is a fire stealing liver eater with a truly astounding sonic palette. We doubled the edition of 65 to 130 and it has great carton sleeve (like last year's Pick-up LP). Since 2006 he has retreated to his nom de passport (formerly known as Aalfang mit Pferdekopf), Uhlig has exchanged the naive bewilderment of experimental bricolage with the pursuit of pure beauty and there is suddenly confusion as to his motives: Are these silent outbursts of refined romanticism intended as some sort of clever commentary on the Drone genre, as a neo-conservative return to proven values or part of something different altogether? While the last albums explored rural soundworlds from the outer reaches of this planet and hidden places of the inner human (and animal) mind, he has finally left planet earth completely and is now reaching out for outer space and alien communication. Hirvonen seems to have traveled the spaceways, bringing home folk music and field recordings from faraway planets and alien cultures. Erich von Däniken beware! Uton is the one-man project of Jani Hirvonen originally hailing from Tampere. Hirvonen is one of the most active musicians of the Finnish underground scene that has recently presented us the likes of Kuupuu, Kemialliset Ystävät, Islaja, Paavoharju and Lau Nau and a seemingly never-ending stream of beautiful and highly original record releases. Uton has previously released dozens of CD's, CD-R's and Cassettes on a myriad of labels including Jewelled Antler, Pseudo Arcana, Last Visible Dog, Digitalis, Ruralfauna and his own Ikuisuus. The five tracks, ranging in length from 3 to 18 minutes, are best described as equal parts doom, psychedelic experimentation and 20th Century composition. From powerful and doom-drenched sections to minimal and shimmering to aggressive rhythms that sound like a pounding string section, Eternal Jewel is some of the strongest material yet from Darsombra. "Everyone is Everyone" is an organic, experimental work that blends traditional, as well as folk and eastern, instruments with found objects, samplers and field recordings to create a work that varies from delicate soundscapes to harsh electronic environments. Drawing from (and adding to) the history of alternative turntable use, REMAINS is an ambient record whose textures at times run side by side with the work of PHILLIP JECK or APHEX TWIN. Two laborious years were put into the 35 minutes that comprise the album. Each track was painstakingly mapped out and played live in the studio. Opening with aggressive noise and evolving into delicate ambience, REMAINS supersedes the preconceived range of the turntable, infusing emotion into an otherwise inhuman instrument. Still (Hsi-Chang Lin) is best known as 1/3 of New Jerseys DALEK (Ipecac Recordings). His performances with DALEK are unforgettable. Still assaults his instrument: raking the needle across the record's grooves, putting the stylus into his mouth, and processing the sounds through a stack of effects pedals. These sounds are channeled through effects pedals to create dense sound structures, looping rhythms & multilayered broken beats. Maybe Arthur "Blind" Blake did not live too long but it was certainly enough to prove the world that he was one of the blind geniuses the history of blues seems to be made of. Born in Florida in 1893, he died at the age of 40 in controversial circumstances - booze? Car accident? - leaving a good number of recordings for Paramount that made him famous as "the king of ragtime guitar". His astonishingly odd style made his riffs sound like a ragtime piano and his particular fingerpicking inspired many modern blues artists, Jorma Kaukonen among the best known.
