KING, REG - MISSING IN ACTION (10")
Limited edition opf 500 copies. 6-track 10" Vinyl E.P. (33 1/3rpm): Comprised of three different versions of future "Reg King" album tracks (*) from pre-album sessions in the Summer of 1969. Some of these are quite radically different to their released counterparts, and, importantly, are different again to anything on our expanded album release! A fascinating look at how the tracks evolved. In addition, there are three completely unknown/unreleased original tracks (+), which we feel warrant description: ·The rousing, upbeat "Merry Go Round" has shades of late period Beatles, and is probably a song that Noel Gallagher would love to have written! .Gentle and sensitive, "Magenta" builds from a tender beginning to a pure emotional climax. "So Full of Love" has a subtle eastern/psychedelic feel, but also modern jazz chording and arrangement. It has an air of The Action's "Rolled Gold" album about it. These three tracks in particular, are a revelation, and prove beyond doubt, Reg's versatility and gifts as a songwriter as you've never heard before. These tracks will only appear on Vinyl the once, on this 10" record, so we recommend 'Vinyl Freaks' to pick it up soon! An important link between the "Rolled Gold"-era Action and the "Reg King" solo record, this could be a pointer to future Circle releases.Packaged in striking black/white '60s E.P.- style art sleeve, with the front cover based on a classic "Action" poster design. All the recordings have been restored and re-mastered to the maximum. Sleevenotes again authored by Mark Raison, who did such a fine job with Reg's album.

AMON DÜÜL - PARADIESWÄRTS DÜÜL
REPRESSED! Recorded in 1971, Amon Duul's only album for Ohr was a visonary slice of acid-folk which has gained cult status as years passed by. Ritualistic folk-rock, pastoral hippie songs, stoned jams, eastern flavours, mystical passages and heavy hypnotic riffing which are in fact very different from the early Amon Duul epic freaked-out improvisations (Psychedelic Underground) or Amon Duul II complex and psyched-up progressive works (Phallus Dei) These were in fact archival recordings done by a different incarnation of Amon Duul, one that combined members of both factions into a floating line up welcoming many a guest, and which were released by R.U. Kaiser without the musicians knowledge or authorisation, most likely in order to catch up with Amon Duul's rising popularity. All in all, a mythical recording featuring such underground classics as "Love Is Peace"; "Snow Your Thurst Sun Open Your Mouth" and "Paramechanische Welt". Included also on our edition is their sought after Ohr single: "Paramechanical World" / "Eternal Flow". Strictly limited to 500 copies. Sleeve reproducing original artwork from the Ohr original issue. Featuring bonus tracks "Paramechanical World" and "Eternal Flow" (originally released as 7" single).

ANIMA SOUND - STURMISCHER HIMMEL
Often described as one the oddities in the Ohr catalogue, Str Himmel supposed the vinyl debut of Anima, the radical free-music duo of sculptor Paul Fuchs and her wife Limpe Fuchs. Recorded at a "thousand year cottage on a windy hill" and opening with ambience recording of wind and sheeps, the album is an organic collection of improvised atonal pieces ranging from the atmospheric to the wild with much use use of screaming, horns, percussions, ambience recordings, wordless vocals and all kinds of home-made sound devices (Fuchshorn, Fuchszither, Fuchsbass... ). Pure german counter-culture sounds from the early 70s... Limited to 500 copies - Sleeve reproducing all the original artwork from the Ohr press - Quality vinyl press inside a 350 gr. quality sleeve. - Comes with an insert with info and photos!

ANNEXUS QUAM - BEZIEHUNGEN
After the release of their debut album Osmose and much playing in jazz festivals, Annexus Quam fronted some personnel changes and settled down to a quintet. The band was now Hans Kamper(trombone, spanish guitar, flute), Harald Klemm (zither, tabla, bendira, guitar), Peter Werner (guitar, percussion), Ove Volquartz (tenor/soprano saxes, flute) plus newcomer Martin Habenicht (basses). This reduced formation went to record Beziehungen, a much more jazzy effort which headed straight into free jazz territory but retaining the typical inventive touch of the band. Much more space was given to free improvisation, with tracks like the two-part "Leyenburg" coming out as free-form music whereas the 16-minute long track "Dreh Ducht Nicht Um" bridged the gap between their two albums by combining the progressive fusion sonorities of Osmose with some brilliant free jamming. A classic album that is recommended to the lovers of the experimental leg of krautrock and progressive musics as well as fans of all things free. Strictly limited to 500 copies - Single cover -. Includes the bonus 1970 track Kollodium !!

BLUTHARSCH, DER - FLYING HIGH! (2LP)
"Flying High!" With this psychedelic combat cry one of the most eccentric and innovative projects from Austria/Vienna is returning. On their ninth studio album Der Blutharsch continues travelling in the direction they took back in 2005, when the former guru of martial industrial/military pop, Albin Julius, and his band, rocketed towards the deep space of psychedelia. One of the most controversial bands of the last decade staked its claim anew, totally breaking with old images, clichés and tunes. Starting already on the last album "The Philosopher's Stone" the turning to the walls of guitars and repetitive chants was already to recognize. "Flying High!" turns this to a programmatic climax. If you start thinking on Sunn O))), Guru Guru, Amon Düül, Tangerine Dream or Godspeed You! Black Emperor you are not to far away, but still inherent is the big part of apocalyptic feeling which you are already used to. Highly influenced by the American West Coast sound of the late sixties with a small dosis of that what some people use to call Krautrock. The tracks are slightly developing into eachother, ambient parts followed by ecstatic deathrock songs and then they glide into a wall of sound. The guestparts on the vocal side is full of well known artists: Besides Bain Wolfkind and Albin Julius or Gianni Serusi, you discover 1980s legend Patrick Leagas who himself celebrates the title song in his typical distinctive manner. "Flying High!" is a dark record, it mixes eros and deathwish, productivity with destructivity. Since the release of "When Did Wonderland End?", Der Blutharsch have mutated into a psychedelic rock monster; their motto, "into new territories!", symbolic for this mutation, a battle fought not by marching but by flying, "Flying high!". "Flying High!" is a weird trip for blown minds through the dark worlds of today's society, passing love, hate and lust during its journey into the center of the sun! The DLP is housed in a superb gatefold cover and is limited to 750 copies only.

BREAKTHRU - ADVENTURES HIGHWAY (+7")
Only known for the one single in 1968 "Ice Cream Tree" /"Julius Caesar" on Mercury, (and largely misunderstood from this to be a pop act), Birminghams Breakthru were in fact one of the loudest, hairiest and most exciting psychedelic rock bands of their time. However, they could create soulful, sensitive or just plain catchy sounds too. Young and very fashionable, many audiences had seen nothing like them. They took their wild stage show, complete with smoke and lights, all over Great Britain: Playing many of Londons most important clubs of the day in the process, such as "Happening 44", "The Electric Garden", "Blaises" and "The Marquee". They also were resident at a club in Switzerland for a time, and made a big impression at Plumptons 1969 "National Jazz and Blues Festival". This is their first complete album, and gathers together all their surviving recordings. Despite the sole single release, the band recorded much material from 1967 to 1970. Included here are their cancelled second Mercury 45 "Peer Gynt"/"Troubleshoot", alongside 14 other unreleased titles, and two which only made a brief appearance on a contemporary compilation. The album C.D. runs for over 50 minutes, and has been put together to show the band as the ex-members would like best to be remembered. The E.P. disc contains their single release, alongside three of their earliest/more pop-orientated numbers. Together, these show the bands musical range in full. In the overcrowded, constantly re-cycling 60s reissue market, this is new, fresh and largely unheard, restored as far as possible from original tapes and acetates.

BROSELMASCHINE - BROSELMASCHINE (WAH WAH)
Debut album of this band led by skilled master-guitarist Peter Busch, which went to record this magical piece of psychedelic folk for the Pilz label in 1971. Guitars, flute, mellotron, congas, tabla, sitar & the magical voice of Jenni Schr make the ingredients for a very special record, recorded & mixed by Dieter Dierks in his unique fashion. Full of eastern promise, this is regarded by many as the best german folk-rock album ever !!! "The ideal companion to Emtidi's Saat and Hoelderlin's Traum" (S. & A. BULENT - BENIMLE OYNAR MISIN
From the hidden depths of the eastern Mediterranean, down in the Cappadoccian mystery lands, comes Bulent Ortacgil, one of national musical treasures of Turkey, but one that to Western ears remains unheard. To this day. Ortacgil, or Bulent, which became his artistic name in his beginnings, during the much loved and never forgotten sixties, made a name to himself on the same scene as Fikret Kizilok, who has now made some waves since his inclusion on Damon and Naomi's compilation "International Sad Hits". But Bulent's music, much as it was of its time, was not at all sad, even though it also came from the heart. And what a heart. It could be said that his voice was indeed as sweet as that of the Golden Horn, and that his music united two continents as much as the Galata Bridge united two parts of Istanbul. For Bulent's music was deeply Turkish but assimilated the folk flavours of the day, British or American, but the most gentle and perfumed ones. Want names? Donovan and Nick Drake, mainly. Bulent's "Benimile Oynar Misin?" has to be heard to be believed, really. Wah Wah's vinyl edition is the first legit edition outside his own country, remastered and with the original artwork. Do yourself a favour. Listen to Bulent. (Ferran Llaurad)

EQUINOX - HARD ROCK
Thought from the beginning as a cash-in operation when hard rock began to spread throughout the UK, this LP features a very young band (keyboardist Jon Stoppard was 16 when this LP was released in 1973) performing the sounds of the day. Equinox consisted of Mick Shedd on vocals and guitar, Sid Oldfield on bass, Jon Stoppard playing organ and Terry Waldon as the drummer. Incidentally they are not the ones who appear on the sleeve, where they were replaced by some unknown hipsters, and knowing Boulevard and it's mother label Saga it was probably a stock photo rather than a proper session paid for the occasion. The album sounds move through the early UK hardrock paths opened by bands such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin, and although it must be said that our youngsters can't match the playing skills of the bands they mirrored in, it's justice to state "Hard Rock" as a more than decent effort, and a true rarity even for the conoisseurs of the genre. Issued from the original master tapes and featuring the original sleeve in better quality than the low budget Boulevard original, this is a perfect chance to add the Equinox to your collection. Remember: only 500 copies pressed!

FLOH DE COLOGNE - FLIESBANDBABY'S BEAT-SHOW
Actually the first release ever on the revolutionary and innovative Ohr label, "Fliesbandbabys Beat Show" saw Floh De Colognes delivering a hard slap on the face of Western Germanys capitalist society. Well-known for their humorous and satyrical approach (which gained them comparisons with other freak troupes like The Fugs or The Mothers Of Invention ) they deliver a freaky connoction of agit-prop satira and madness with relentless no-barriers free jamming. Political agitation meets free-rock !!! Housed in a nice gatefold cover, carefully reproducing the original groundbreaking cover design by Reinhard Hippen (responsible for all of Ohrs classic first five releases). Kraut madness !!

GURU GURU - UFO
Killer debut by one of the craziest bands ever: Guru Guru. Mani Neumeier (drums), Uli Trepte (bass) and Ax Genrich (guitar) get together for what some still consider as the ultimate trip on record. Insane psychedelic action, from stoned to acid, reflecting the trio's live impromptu freeform jams, albeit in a shorther format. A white-hot sound best witnessed in tracks like "Der LSD-March" or UFO, originally released by Ohr in 1970 and now re-released in his glorious gatefold cover. For fans of early Can, Kraftwerk, Faust.

HELDON - ALLEZ TEIA (+7")
Originally released in 1975, the follow-up to Electronic Guerrilla was a more subdued and relaxed affair with emphasis on Richard Pinhas guitar and good use of mellotron. Hints of early King Crimson and the Fripp-Eno LPs are again evident in a record that stands-out as one of the more mysterious and intriguing of the whole Heldon discography. A puzzling hypnotic tapestry of sounds by one of the most essential bands of 70's experimental music. Strictly limited to 500 copies. Not unlike some contemporany german bands, Heldon manages to take rock'n'roll's language to a new experimental stage. Convulse and evocative soundscapes recommended to all lovers of innovative and ground-breaking music. Strictly limited to 500 copies. HOELDERLIN - HOELDERLIN'S TRAUM
Debut album of this legendary german folk outfit centered around the family core of brothers Christian and Jochen Grumbcow and including Christians wife, Nanny, as the bands lead singer. Another sample of Dieter Dierks talent for turning otherwise average folk albums into something else, their album for Pilz was a refined and complex work which included such remarkable guests as Brosselmachine's Peter Busch on sitar or Walter Westrupp on flute. A german progressive folk master opus which took hints from medieval and classical musics and reworked them into something very special and unique. A really nice album which should please all lovers of folk and progressive musics !!!

HUNT & TURNER - MAGIC LANDSCAPE
The second in the series reissues from The Village Thing catalogue is this wonderful 1972 LP by the talented duo Ian Hunt and John Turner. Hunt & Turner got together in the summer of 1970, after having worked as some of the most in demand session musicians of the West Country's. Turner was an acomplished string bass player, while Hunt was already a big name on the Bristol scene, playing great guitar and writing songs. They moved around Bristol's Troubadour Club, which Turner had run for several years, and as once the duo was arranged they expanded their art around the UK and Europe. With this LP they gathered a small amount of success, reaching #6 in the Melody Maker folk charts. More fabulous folk sounds plenty of crystalline acoustic guitars and delicious vocals, at times reminiscing of CSN&Y and relatives. Hunt & Turner, who -besides their fab vocal duties- already play acoustic & electric guitars, electric and string bass and bongos, are ocasionally augmented by John Merritt on bass guitar and Rod Matthews on percussion. Comes an insert with the lyrics.

IBLISS - SUPERNOVA
With several connections to the early Kraftwerk history and formed in the Rhineland area in 1971, Ibliss was a quintet formed by percussionist Basil Hammoudi (from Organisation, the band before Kraftwerk), drummer Andreas Hohmann (also from Kraftwerk), brothers Wolfgang and Norbert Byer (bass and guitar respectively) and Rainer Bl on sax and flute. With the help of Conny Plank , they recorded their one and only lp at Hamburgs Windrose-Studios: four long instrumental tracks in a hypnotic style that takes cues both from the teutonic motorik style and way-out jazz techniques. kind of a floating cosmic fusion sound with a great emphasis on the rhythmic section. Another great and unknown album from the jazzier end of krautrock (Kollektiv, Thirsty Moon, Annexus Quam, Embryo, Organistaion.) INNER SPACE - AGILOK & BLUBBO O.S.T.
The Inner Space is the stuff of legend. This obscure outfit is best known as the antecessor band of Can and not much is known about them except it featured the core members of Can (Irmin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit) and lasted just a few months before renaming themselves The Can and releasing Monster Movie. They left two ultra-obscure seven inches as their only recorded legacy and only the first of them is credited to The Inner Space, it contained two songs taken from the soundtrack of 1969's underground film Agilok & Blubbo. Originally released by the the german Vogue label in 1969, it currently fetches prices around the 300 euro mark in the collector's circuit. Given the obscurity of both the band and it's recorded output, we're proud to present, for the first time to the public, not only the aforementioned singles but the complete soundtrack to Peter F. Scheneider's offbeat political satire Agilok & Blubbo. Previously unavailable until now, the original mastertapes of this soundtrack have been stored in the archives of legendary german producer and music publisher Hans Wewerka who produced the recording sessions back in 1969. Here you can hear history in the making, the first step of a group of musicians who'll to achieve fame, success and recognition over the 70's, helping define a sound (often called kraut rock) that has been highly infuential to this days. Those familiar with Can's output will recognize some of the band's characteristic sound, albeit in a embrionary form. Songs like 'Agilok & Blubbo' or 'Kamera Song' already hint at their later pop brilliance whereas the short cues and extended free jams found elsewhere in this soundtrack reminds us from the heterogeneus roots of a bunch of musicians coming from rock, jazz and avant-garde backgrounds. All in all, an excellent glimpse into the early stages of an innovative band developing it's own musical language. This reissue includes detailed liner notes by Wah Wah's very own Raül G. Pratginesto's and comes illustrated by original b/w shoots from the movie production. 180 gr. audiophile pressing vinyl LP.

LIGHTMAN, AARON - AARON LIGHTMAN
This amazing LP from 1969 is one of the most beautiful hidden gems in the field of pop arranged singer-songwriters. Think of an american reply to the early works of Duncan Browne, Bill Fay, Nick Garrie or even Donovan at his most posike recordings. Fans of the eraly Bee Gees will also enjoy this LP! Credit for the arrangements and production goes to the great Ron Frangipane and David Christopher, who is also credited as a co-writer of the albums songs. The album came housed in a beautiful Milton Glaser sleeve (Glaser was the main designer at Poppy at that time) which the Wah Wah reissue respects, and featured an insert with the lyrics which is also reproduced on our reissue. LIMBUS 4 - MANDALAS
Another unsung bunch of krautrock pioneers, Limbus had formed in Heidelberg in 1968. Comprising the trio of Odysseus Artnerm, Bernd Henniger and Gerd Kraus, in 1969 recorded the groundbreaking New Atlantis LP (subtitling it "Cosmic Music Experience") for CPM, a spaced-out concoction of free and psychedelic musics with strong folky and ethnical flavours sounding very much like a more ethnic take on free improvisation. In 1970 they become a quartet with the addition of Matthias Kniepper thus renaming themselves Limbus 4 and went to record the puzzling Mandalas lp, a further step in their cosmic ethnic improvisations, this time making use of a more varied instrumental palette and taking advantage of the possibilities of the recording studio. A unique album that ranks amongst the most adventurous ever released by Ohr and which, to make things even better, spots another of those cool Reinhard Hippen covers designs made of doll parts (which graced the covers of the first five of the the label's albums.. this being actually the second ever Ohr release). You don't get them much trippier than this... Strictly limited to 500 copies - Gatefold cover

Formed by young multi-instrumentalist Stephan Kaske in 1969, Mythos were Berlins finest space rockers, able to swim and dive between raging space-treks a la Hawkwind and blissed-out cosmic drifts in the style of their stable-mates Ash Ra Temple or Tangerine Dream. Their legendary debut album showed them in top-form, specially in the long suite "Encyclopaedia Terrae" were they showcase their playing abilities and unique style via the extended instrumental passages. Somewhere else in the album, Kaske surprises us with his flute playing or his caracteristical vocals (a bit in the style of VdGGs Peter Hammill). A classic album which deserves to be heard by a wider public !! Strictly limited to 500 copies - Gatefold cover

ORANGE WEDGE - WEDGE
Wah Wah is proud to offer the two LPs by Baltimore's high energy hard rock pride Orange Wedge. Having become one of the most successful live acts in Maryland, Orange Wedge nevertheless didn't get to sign a contract with a proper label, so in 1974 they decided it was time to invest some of their money into the self-production of their first LP. Wedge, the resulting work, shows a highly energetic band performing their own original compositions direct to your ears. Housed in a plain blue sleeve with the title stamped on front, 500 copies were pressed, some to be sent to record companies with the hope of getting a proper contract and others to be sold at gigs and a few of them at local Maryland shops. Needles to say they quickly deleted and the record is nowadays a much sought after treasure among collectors of the hard rock genre. At Wah Wah they have respectfully worked on its reissue to offer you a killer release in thick cardboard paste-up sleeve with silver lettering stamping, and featuring an insert with the story of the band and lots of cool photos gently provided by original Orange Wedge guitarist and composer Joe Farace. This is a limited reissue of only 500 copies, so hurry to get yours before they just dissapear from sight as it happened with the original pressing!

TILSTON, STEVE - AN ACOUSTIC CONFUSION
The beautiful debut album by Steve Tilston was originally released by The Village Thing in 1971. Housed in a beautiful sleeve it contained ten wonderful songs, mostly played on just acoustic guitar (plus voice, of course), which showed the great talent of a young Tilston that must have been listening to a lot of stuff by Bert Jansch, Nick Drake, Donovan, Wizz Jones or Davy Graham. Occasionally he is also accompained by Dave Evans (guitar & vocals), Keith Warmington (harmonica & vocal), John Turner (string bass) and Pete Finch (violin). The ten songs on the album are original compositions written by Tilston himself, and the Wah Wah LP will feature two extra bonus tracks from 1978, previously unreleased on vinyl format, plus an insert with the lyrics.

VLASMAN, TON - WHITE ROOM WITH DISINTEGRATING...
...Walls". Ton Vlasman recorded this amazing piece of acid euro folk back in 1970, making it sound like an outter space freaked out Bob Dylan with the help of Frans Schoonen (organ, flute and harmonica) and Leo van Vugt (chincha tumba and tambourine). The seven original compositions are stunning, drug inspired psychedelic pieces of acid folk that mix Dylan with Indian ragas and even add some Pink Floyd overtones, yet from an acoustic rather than electric point of view. And the album contains also a very cool version of The Velvet Underground's "Pale Blue Eyes". If you evered wondered how would Dylan have sounded covering The V.U., here's a close example! The album, originally released on the small Flame label from Amsterdam, sold poorly back in the seventies - thus becoming a collector's piece when it was rediscovered in the eighties. Since then it has been gathering new fans that pay small fortunes for a copy, no reissue has been available until now that Wah Wah offers 500 copies in a lavish edition that will probably sell out soon, so grab your copy before it's too late! The beautiful cover art and full color poster insert with the lyrics are the work of Leendert Le Duc, and both are here faithfully reproduced as they deserve. The Wah Wah reissue also features an extra insert with a text by reputed dutch collector Jean Jöbses and a couple of rare unseen period photos courtesi of the Frans Schoonen and Leo van Vugt archives. The album has been carefully remastered by sound wizard Denis Blackham @ Skye Mastering, making these songs sound like never before.

WALPURGIS - QUEEN OF SABA
Overshadowed by their more experimental and cosmic labelmates, Walpurgis made probably one of the most overlooked items of the Ohr catalogue... This quintet from Berlin formed by Ryszard Kalemba (guitar), Jerzy Sokolowski (guitar, vocals), George Fruchtenicht (bass), Jan Sundermeyer (congas, flute) and Manfred Stadelmann (drums, vocals) were helped by the ubiquitous Jurgen Dollase (Wallenstein) on keyboards for the recording sessions of their one and only one album which taking place between May and June 1972 in Dieter Dierks Studio in Stommeln. Obviously inspired by the US West Coast sound but also echoing the more cosmic tendencies of the berlin scene, Walpurgis played a dreamy yet solid space-rock style which recall some of their contemporanies like Wallenstein, Ash Ra Tempel or Agitation Free whilst paying tribute to their american inspirations (Quicksilver Messenger Band, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane) at the same time. Actually, Walpurgis just made those influences more evident as the West Coast sound had a huge impact in shaping the Berlin bands sound, with many a citys guitar player in debt with John Cippollina's guitar techniques (from Ash Ra Tempel's Manuel Gotsching to Curly Curve's Alex Conti). Strictly limited to 500 copies - Gatefold cover.

WITTHUESER, BERND - LIEDER VON VAMPIREN, NONNEN & TOTEN
Released under Bernd Witthuser's name, this was actually the first collaborative effort with his partner in-crime Walter Westrupp (their infamous "W&Ws Pop-Cabaret"). An enchanting collection of acoustic folk songs, albeit with a touch of black humour, on the subjects, you guessed it, vampires, nuns and death based on texts by Baltus Brosel, Heinrich Heine, Novalis and Thomas Rother... Simple and haunting melodies with a spellbinding cosmic touch. ACTION (UK) - UPTIGHT AND OUTASIGHT (2CD)
Limited numbered edition of 1000 only worldwide! From its inauguration as an exclusive and elitist clique centered in London and its immediate suburbs, the mod movement had by the early 60's germinated to a point where British groups were flourishing to entertain its growing legions. The mods' original musical palette oozed black soul and rhythm and blues and since in the less cosmopolitan world of the time its perpetrators rarely ventured beyond their home base of the U.S.A, a blossoming of indigenous talent to sate the demand for live R&B and soul was inevitable. The mod riots, 'Ready Steady Go' and the emergence of Tamla Motown as a commercially successful force exasperated the phenomenon and expanded mod into a national and indeed mercantile culture, which ignited a further engendering of mod or mod styled groups. Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, Chris Farlowe and the Thunderbirds and Long John Baldry's Hoochie Coochie Men to name but a few had paved the way but in 1965, a genus of more visually appealing bands had or were achieving a profile. Despite their mostly manufactured mod image the Who were the movement's most distinctive standard bearers but from the ranks of mod itself there emerged two bands in particular who for many of their own and subsequent generations, defined and epitomized the British mod group - The Small Faces and The Action. The recordings: Five are T.V./Radio/Live versions of Action single (+ one from "Rolled Gold" era) tracks. Another five are totally unreleased, and appear here for the first time ever on any record! The C.D. version will be a double set: The first C.D. will contain all the material on the vinyl version. The second 'bonus' C.D. will have 16 live tracks from The Boston Arms/Dome, London - their second re-union gig in 1998. There are an additional two tracks compared to similar ones featured on the band's video tape of the occasion "In The Lap of the Mods". All copies will be individually machine-numbered, and will feature a 16-page colour (outer and centre spread) booklet. Tracklisting: Vinyl LP and CD1 Side One: 1. I'LL KEEP HOLDING ON (2:20) T.V. BREAKTHRU - ADVENTURES HIGHWAY (2CD)

INNER SPACE - AGILOK & BLUBBO O.S.T.
CD issue contains two bonus tracks: Memographie, plus Irmin Schmidt's 1967 composition Hexapussy. In all, over 28 minutes of bonus material!

KING, REG - REG KING
Never re-issued before, on either vinyl or compact disc, Circle Records take great pleasure in presenting former lead singer of The Action, Reg King's self-titled album. Originally released on the "United Artists" label in 1971 (although it's earlier recordings date from 1969), via production company "Sahara Records", the 'Reg King' album is a neglected 'lost classic'. Long sought-after by collectors, with original copies regularly achieving three-figure sums, this record features all original King/Dale material, with backing from the highly-respected musicians of "B.B. Blunder" (ex-Blossom Toes) and "Mighty Baby" (ex-The Action). Other 'stellar' names making their musical contributions to this album include Mick Taylor, Steve Winwood, Elton Dean and Brian Auger. In addition, a whole host of other musicians at the cutting edge of the British Jazz and Underground Rock scenes of the time assist in different places. A particularly essential purchase for any fan of The Action or Mighty Baby: Check-out the musicianship and Reg's emotive, soulful voice on this, the final stage of his professional career. Remastered from the sole-surviving 1/4" masters, this album keeps the original production and mix as intended by Reg, but adds a clarity and 'punch' previously unheard. This is an official release in conjunction with "Rolled Gold Productions" who own the copyright and masters: Anything else you may be offered is a BOOTLEG that pays nothing to Reg. Don't even consider buying anything else until you see this edition! 16-track CD - Featuring the full original album, plus 7 bonus tracks of different versions (early/demo etc.) of album tracks from the sessions, some of which are quite radically different to the 'final' ones! A fascinating look at how the tracks evolved in themselves. Out of the bonus tracks, only "10,000 Miles" with Mighty Baby is common to our vinyl re-issue. Also, the C.D. version of "Nobody Knows Where We Are" is longer/un-edited. Packaging in colour, with 8-page booklet and "UA" label-styled disc.500 numbered copies on first run.

MAYFIELD'S MULE - MAYFIELD'S MULE
Guitarist, vocalist and songwriter CHRIS MAYFIELD began to play at the beginning of the Sixties in local Kent band The MORAL SET, then went on to the usual plethora of bands and sessions, playing with the earliest NIRVANA, JOHN GUSTAFSON, GENE LATTER and IAN HUNTER among the others. In 1968 after a few disappointing musical adventures, Chris joined AMEN CORNER as a roadie/driver, but his girlfriend passed some of his demos to Amen's sax player, MIKE SMITH, who immediately got them to various labels, EMI approved and immediately signed Chris to a recording deal. PETE SAUNDERS (k), STEVE BRADLEY (b) and ex-ELASTIC BAND SEAN JENKINS (d) soon joined and MAYFIELD's MULE was born. Three Parlophone singles were recorded in a few months and the band also began to work on an album at Abbey Road studios. But something went wrong and the LP was apparently shelved, gaining instead an incredible Uruguayan release on local Emi-Odeon label, without any involvement and knowledge from the band. Mayfield's Mule went on for a while longer, recruiting brothers MIKE and ANDY SCOTT, and then called it a day. While Sean Jenkins played a few months with HENRY COW and Andy Scott resurfaced in The SWEET, Chris Mayfield joined forces with JOHN KONGOS to record some demos of his new material. He then met up with an old friend from Kent NOEL REDDING (late of Jimi Hendrix Band and Fat Mattress) and they formed the shortlived BRAIN POLICE, which became (without Chris) ROAD and finally The NOEL REDDING BAND. This CD contains all the best Mayfield's Mule recordings, drawing from both the singles and the album. The music is basically rock but with hints of prog, blues, rural and even a bit of soul thrown in. All tracks have been digitally remastered from the original tapes, licensed by EMI UK. The 12 pages booklet features the band's detailed story, with never-seen-before photos and Mayfield's own anecdotes.

VAINICA DOBLE - VAINICA DOBLE
Probably the rarest and most sought after LP in the Spanish collector's market, the first album by Gloria Van Aerssen & Carmen Santonja is at last reissued in CD as it deserves. On the twelve songs they wrote for their debut album, originally released on Opalo in 1971, Vainica Doble blended folk, soft rock, pop and a dose of psychedelia to describe a magical world of their own with splendid Spanish lyrics and great arrangements that bring you echoes of the The Beatles, the Bristish Psychedelic Trip or The Incredible String Band without ever loosing their incredibly personal character that sounds so unique to today's ears as it did to those of 1971. The twelve songs of the original 1971 LP are here augmented with 8 bonus tracks, six of them taken from non-LP Vainica Doble singles (including both sides of their mega rare first 45 from 1970 "La bruja"/"Un metro cuadrado") plus two songs from the obscure single by Tickets, their backing band at the time, who recorded Vainica's penned "El rigor de las desdichas", with "Someone Like Me", a killer psychedelic fuzz-pop stomper, as its flipside.

SHINDIG! - THE ANNUAL, NO. 1
Before the re-launched Shindig! as a bi-monthly magazine, were produced seven issues that have long been out of print. Due to permanent requests for this now unavailable material it was decided to collect together the best articles in a book that will be called "Shindig! Annual No.1. This Annual will be 96pp full-colour hardback book. The Shindig! Annual serves up a tasty treat, with a selection of features brimming with passion. The artists covered in this annual range from the well known: THE MOVE (the last in-depth interview with original singer Carl Wayne), THE LOVE AFFAIR (the UK pop/soul act that were the most talked about UK group for a number of months in 1968) and BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD (Neil Young, Steven Stills. say no more). The now legendary: JOHNS CHILDREN (a massive interview with singer Andy Ellison and drummer Chris Townsen), JESSE HECTOR (the original space-age mod whose style and attitude influenced a number of glam and punk acts). The now highly regarded: SRC (the Detroit band who ran their own studio and were friends with the stars), KALEIDOSCOPE (Englands most loved unsuccessful 60s pop act), THE ACTION (utter stylists produced by George Martin), GRAPEFRUIT (more-than-pretty-boy Beatles protgs) and LES FLEUR DE LYS (who out-did The Who on their Immediate version of Circles). Lesser-known acts like THE THINGIES, THE DIRTY WURDS and WE THE PEOPLE are all covered with just as much respect and attention, which of course is the Shindig! way.

CURSILLISTAS - LES BICHES
Cursillistas performs songs all vaguely within the realm of psychedelic lo-fi folk rumbles, but with more electricity than ever before. It begins with an epic build, layers upon layers of electric guitars, vocals, distorted percussion, indian flute, horns and feedback drones, which drops out at its most intense to reveal the quiet echoing guitar strum and broken-microphone vocals of the gentle "dirt.palm.line". The bee side features rudimentary use of a nine-note toy xylophone throughout, beginning with an experiment relying solely on the xylophone itself to create its dense toy tone trance. the langley schools celebration sounds of "bag of feathers" follows, with amateur-choir vocal layers claiming pre-eminence over the trumpet call. the album closes with more layered vocals and a focus on xylophone and reverse guitar, gently leading the raft of sea tones to the coastline of does.

BLACK KEYS - THE BIG COME UP
Reissue. Producing its own brand of stripped down rock'n'roll combining Memphis grit, Motor City stomp and Mississippi hollers. Take one guitar, a cheap organ and a broken down drumkit and you have their bare essentials. But it ain't all the way that simple becauce they have it in their heart and in the their soul. Dan learnt by playing blues guitar romps in juke joints with the great JAMES 'T-MODEL' FORD. Produced by Akron who has produced illuminaries like Lux Interior, Devo and Chrissie Hynde.

VARIOUS - LE BEAT BESPOKÉ, VOL. 1
REPRESSED!!! Initially released in May 2004, this made to measure album offers an insight into London club promoters the New Untouchables. It highlights DJ Rob Bailey's inspired track selection and ability to move seamlessly from one musical style to the next. All, naturally, done with restraint and good taste, but at the same time, compelling the listener to groove along with it all. Made up from a diverse collection of tracks - club sounds, hip 60's newies and old Mod scene fave raves. Add to these, two unique Bailey re-mixes on "Sexologie" and "Du Hast Mich/Glory Be", and you really have something special. Le Beat Bespok offers the listener a perfectly tailored playlist that captures that magical and mysterious side of the decade better known as the Swinging Sixties! 'For what very well may be the first major compilation of the post-freakbeat haze from which we have hopefully emerged, Brian Poust finds Le Beat Bespoke more smart than swirly... for the most part...Le Beat Bespoke compiles 25 tracks of primarily English and European origin, which, as the title implies, are hand picked and well-suited amongst each other. Early opinion collected through underground reconnaissance suggests many of these tracks are well worn around the London club scene and have run their course.' (-The Uppers Organization) TRACKLISTING: 01.Sexologie- Danyel Gerrard 02. Du Hast Mich - Howard Carpendale 03. Electric Latin Soul - Flash & The Dynamics 04. Hip Hip Hurray - Snap Shots 05. I Was Born A Free Man - Pipps 07. No No No - Ola & Janglers 08. Take Me Back - Plastic Penny 09. Easy To Know - Gentle Influence 10. All You - Sonny Burke Outfit 11. Mon Obsession - Les Lionceaux 12. 20-track (four bonuses not on L.P.) CD with 8-page colour booklet, in full colour card 'cigarette packet' slipcase. Ltd Ed 1000 copies! (for the first 16 tracks, see the LP format) 17. Louisa Jane White. Two excellent 45's on Philips 69 and 70 before moving to MCA in 71, eventually scoring a hit record with 'take the money and run' in mid seventies. This was the second and by far the best record she ever made. Why 'truth in my tears' was never a hit is anyone's guess, to my mind it is musical perfection. 18. Heidi Bruhl Better known for her German pop music and film work than this awesome release on UK Philips rumoured not to have been released in her native country. This sounds like it could have been from a film soundtrack with the excellent production work and song title. The track itself is one of the best discoveries I heard in recent years and fits perfectly with the lady's above effort which was also recorded just a 66 releases later for the very same label just a few months apart. 19. Paul Nicholas Started life with Screaming Lord Sutch and the Savages playing organ before teaming up with the Reaction label and Robert Stigwood productions. His first solo release was in 1966 as Paul Dean 'with she can build a mountain' before switching names again to Oscar for four singles on Reaction label including the excellent Mod club fave 'club of lights'. One single on the Polydor label in 68 with the same name, before changing again to Paul Nicholas. In 1969 his theatre musical career started with star roles in 'Hair' and later 'Jesus Christ superstar' before going onto become a household name on your TV screen in 'Just good friends'. 'Run shaker life' is the B-side of his 1970's single. 20. M.U.5 Named,we think, after the World biggest computer at that time. We have no information on this band who released this single on Crystal in 1972. Blue eyed soul with fuzz guitar and a sound production that would have common place some five years before. Mrs Watson rounds off 'Le Beat Bespoke 2'.

SHAW, SUZY/MIKE STAX - BOMP! 2, BORN IN THE GARAGE
A heavyweight celebration of the roots of rock fandom. Eye-popping cover art by the immortal WILLIAM STOUT. This is the ultimate anthology of rock 'n' roll fandom from its inception to its mid/late 1970s heyday. BOOK INCLUDES: 300 pages of reproductions from Greg Shaw's pioneering 70s era zines WHO PUT THE BOMP and BOMP! ESSAYS BY Jon Savage, Alec Palao, Ken Barnes, Suzy Shaw and Mike Stax. 60s GARAGE AND BEAT, SURF MUSIC, BRITISH INVASION, GIRL GROUPS, ROCKABILLY ACID PUNK, and PSYCHEDELIA. Obsessively detailed DISCOGRAPHIES and LABEL LISTINGS, plus reams of readers' letters and never before published material. The sheer volume of historical information is almost mind-boggling. Also included are reprints from Shaw's obscure personal zines, METANOIA and LIQUID LOVE, circulated in 1970-72 to just a handful of friends and fellow writers. Aside from including a huge selection of Shaw's insightful writing, BOMP! 2 also includes rare early work by celebrated rock scribes like KEN BARNES, LESTER BANGS, LENNY KAYE, RICHARD MELTZER, DAVE MARSH, MIKE SAUNDERS, PHAST PHREDDIE and more. Featuring artwork by underground artists like JAY KINNEY, WILLIAM STOUT and TOM KIRK.

BIBLE OF THE DEVIL/BLADE OF THE RIP - SPLIT
While Bible of the Devils "Hot Deth" was recorded in 2007, it might as well have been a holdover from the bands 2005 album, Brutality Majesty Eternity. The Chicago band hasnt changed its sound drastically since then, "Hot Deth" couldve fit perfectly between "Warrior Fugue" and "Night Wraith." Im not sure what I like more - the metal spelling of "death," the blistering solo, the "Whoa-oh-oh-oh-ohhhs" that follow, or the fact that the band didnt treat this split as a dumping ground for a lesser track

SERPENTCULT - TRIDENT NOT FIRE (10")
A strictly limited gatefold 10" pressing of only 500 copies on heavyweight black vinyl. Trident Nor Fire is the rather unique debut EP from Belgium's Serpent Cult and this shit is heavy. I'm talking just ridiculously dense, churning, downtuned riffs galore gelling together with plodding pulses of bass and thundering percussion - all alongside great (and wholly unexpected) female vocals that only add to the band's atypical stance within this particular realm of metal. It's slow, but not too slow. Sludgy, but not too sludgy. So, yeah. it basically rules. The sheer fury and mass of some of the rhythms actually reminds me of the mighty Crowbar to some degree, but with more of a doomy sort of 'contemporary Sabbath' thing going on. Hell, they close with a cover of Uriah Heep's 'Rainbow Demon', so that sort of gives you an idea of where some of their influences are coming from, but. rest assured the end result's definitely 1,000 times more crushing!

BAKERTON GROUP - BAKERTON GROUP (PD)
THE BAKERTON GROUP is the instrumental alter ego of the rock band CLUTCH. Taking a sidestep from the token Clutch sound. The debut full length, recorded at The Magpie Cage in Baltimore, MD. by J. ROBBINS of JAWBOX fame, is now available. "Clutch has always incorporated heavy, blues-based jams into their super charged hard rock tunes. Collectively known as The Bakerton Group, fourth-fifths of Clutch (bassist DAN MAINES, guitarist TIM SULT, drummer JEAN-PAUL GASTER, and keyboardist MICK SCHAUER) have created an album made up entirely of late '60s and '70s-inspired, instrumental jams infused with hot blues, funky grooves, and psychedelic rock trips on this self-titled affair. Best of all, this is no mere, middling side project with a lot of fucking about. It is an outstanding album with a nostalgic familiarity and ace songwriting that rivals the greats."-Blabbermouth.

BLOOD OF THE SUN - BLOOD OF THE SUN
Featuring members of Sourvein, Storm at Sunrise, Archie Bunker and Las Cruces!!! First its the almighty cowbell. Then its a nasty guitar sting and a whirling organ. Then... hell, they had me at the cowbell. Halfway into "Hell on Its Knees," the opening track, and MY knees are bruised from being on the ground, praising the boogie rock gods for gracing us with this sextet. Proudly carrying the banner handed down by the likes of Grand Funk Railroad and Humble Pie, Blood of the Sun deliver the southern monster metal boogie with ease-the-seat-back confidence and righteous swagger. Thick, certified Angus Beef-riffs, tight arrangements graced with the perfect amount o shimmy room, Greg Allman-on-acid organ fills, requisite "whiskey woman" lyric check, wah solos, the Mountain reference in the name; its all perfect for eating red meat to.

BLOOD OF THE SUN - DEATH RIDE
Blood of the Sun has finally delivered an album that shows what they're truly capable of. Death Ride is a feast for those weaned on The Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Cactus, Deep Purple, and all the other heavy hitters from the glorious era of '70's rock, for those who understand that it's possible to be technically skilled as a musician but not sound cold and calculating. Death Ride is a riotous trip, overflowing with rock 'n' roll excess. You know the saying "Everything old is new again?" That's the case with Death Ride. People who say there's no good music from this decade haven't heard this one yet. Includes fantastic cover version of a LUCIFER'S FRIEND track.

HIDDEN HAND - RESURRECTION OF WHISKEY (COLOR)
Limited edition of only 250 copies on transparent blue vinyl. Deluxe gatefold sleeve. The Hidden Hand unleash another epic masterpiece, The Resurrection of Whiskey Foote. Lyrically the band has evolved from their previous politically charged content also incorporating historical story based lyricism. Musically there is a subtle southern or classic rock vibe (ala killer slide playing from Wino and even some Harp by Michael Anthony Miller) that creeps into the foundation of their brand of dark, heavy, progressive rock. Only a lineup consisting of the capable 'rock-veterans' that make up the Hidden Hand can properly pull off an album of this magnitude. Vocalist/songwriter Scott WINO Weinrich (Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, Place of Skulls and contributor to Dave Grohls' Probot album) is joined by the kick-ass rhythm section of bassist/vocalist Bruce Falkinburgh (who also recorded the album) and drummer Evan Tanner. The union of these 3 incredible musicians produces a unique sound force that is setting a precedence that most bands will find impossibly challenging to match."

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST - JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
Limited edition of only 300 copies on black vinyl. The music reminds me of early Corrosion Of Conformity, Poison Idea, Battalion Of Saints, and even at times Crucifix. They definitely have a mid 80s sound going for them. Rock and metal overtones played at a mid-tempo to fast pace, but straight up punk rock. The vocals are yelled or screamed but phonetic so that you can understand what is being sung. Their guitars are crunchy and bright, so they sound warm opposed to dirty. Bass is nice and clean but punchy and also warm. The drumming is more than competent with a sound thats reminiscent of early drummers from the So Cal scene. I saw this band a number of months ago. The crusty kids didnt quite get it. But I think if they gave a few listens to this disc, they will learn that there are other ways to play punk.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST - LIFE'S HATEFUL SEED
Limited edition of only 666 copies. Life's Hateful Seed is a merciless record. It has a traditional punk edge that reverts back to the best times of Black Flag and Negative Approach. The riffing is lightning fast and in some passages brings memories of old school speed metal. It's a nice blend for sure. One that goes down like shit on chocolate

KING OF SALEM - PROPHECY
Limited edition of only 100 copies. King of Salem is comprised of drummer Mike Petrucci and guitarist/bassist/vocalist Simon Tuozzoli. Theres a definite 70s influence in Tuozzoli's guitar, but his vocals come from somewhere more metallic. Recorded in Tuozzolis own Up Recording Studio by the guitarist himself, Prophecy is and isn't just plain sub-metallic rock. There is little to ponder in terms of highly complicated techniques or sophisticated, overly done arrangements, but as an outlet for a less complex sound, it can have a beer with me anytime. Im a sucker for well-done traditional songwriting anyway, and King of Salem has that and more on offer over the course of these eight tracks. For seekers of the underground rock, Prophecy is worth finding

18 SPEED TRANNY - ANALOG MACHINE
What 18 Speed Tranny does well on its recent self-titled release could be described as trucker rock: classic 1970s heavy metal arrangements belted out with ample crash cymbal, fuzzy rhythm guitar, and doomsday vocals. "69 GTO" races in top gear with extended riffing and even a cowbell breakdown. Makes you feel like hitting the road with a bottle of No-Doz, volume on 11.

ACROSS TUNDRAS - WESTERN SKY RIDE
If you play that Neurosis/Isis strain of music, how are you going to set yourself apart from the likes of Tides, Mouth of the Architect, Souvenir's Young America, Angel Eyes, Disappearer, and all the other groups that have tread the same narrow path this year? If you're Denver's Across Tundras, you embrace your inner shitkicker and bury the vocals low in the mix. Acorss Tundras' sprawling compositions have more of a rock feel. It's as if they're playing something that, if sped up, could actually boogie. There's also a twangy aftertaste, a hint of alt-country. That could draw comparisons to Earth's Hex: Or Printing in the Infernal Method, but Across Tundras isn't that ethereal and sparse. They're melancholy yet forward moving, and overall they live up to their billing of unleashing a 'powerful new statement of rustic, crushing Americana.

ADMIRAL BROWNING - MAGIC ELIXIR
Basically instrumental from the opening oddity, this is a rumbling stroke through demented fuzzy flavors, exploring everything between a bouncy rock tempo to the slow motion faints of 10 b.p.m., guitars tuned to Z with the San Andreas Fault on bass. Wriggly unthemed guitar lines spice up the doom-laded slabs of sluggery, like Mastodon rockin it backwards over Candlemass; only beginning to set any sort of tone for this bizarre audio potion.

AX - OUR QUEEN OF DIRT
The barebones twosome of guitar and drums is a relatively recent development in popular music, made commonplace by The White Stripes, who were inventive enough to make the pared-down arrangements work. Portland garage-metal-punk duo The Ax aren't as interested in varying the limited template as they are in beefing it up to full power, a throttling twin assault that's intent on crushing the listener like a flapjack. These guys take the funnest part of rock music-the wicked riff-and bring it to the forefront, exaggerating it so that nothing else in the song matters. Our Queen of Dirt is 14 short nuggets of evil-sounding, down-tuned garage rock.

BIBLE OF THE DEVIL - TIGHT EMPIRE
Bible of the Devil's sound is classic: Marshall stacks cranked all the way, bowel-moving bass, and tight speedball drumming. They dominate with dual guitar harmonies and relentless energy and write epic pummelers about barbiturates, Iron Maiden, killin', drinkin', and just being plain ol' scumbags. Bible of the Devil play like they are gearing up to tour with Richie Blackmore's Rainbow way back in '75. Highly recommended for fans of Thin Lizzy, Motorhead, early Aerosmith, Slade, Rainbow and AC/DC

BLACK GASOLINE - SHE GAVE US MAGIC
Influenced by the no-nonsense rock n roll of American greats such as The MC5 and Grand Funk Railroad and the powerful, melodic leanings of Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple and the moody, expansive rock of Captain Beyond, the Wichita-based quintet is no mere throwback to a bygone era. Rather, guitarist Paul DeCeglie, bassist Scotty Baddhart, drummer Kendall Newbie, vocalist Bobby Comfort and guitarist/keyboardist Lovell Hickman seek to introduce fans to a louder, more groove conscious brand of rock that abandons adherence to corporate branding and commercialism and instead gets down to the business of shaking the ass and elevating the soul."

BULLETWOLF - DOUBLE SHOTS OF ROCK AND ROLL
With a chorus of "I need a hundred beers. I need a hundred shots," it's not like Indiana's Bulletwolf didn't warn you what they were all about. This is down and dirty stoner metal, the kind made by a foul mouthed band that stinks up any disreputable bar. In the game of "spot the influence," I'd say Orange Goblin sticks out the most, in terms of both the riffs and the overall drunken attitude, but you can draw comparisons between these guys and any band that plays this sort of ferocious, riff-tastic music

CATAPULT THE SMOKE - UNEARTHED
Includes 4 bonus tracks. 'Unearthed' is, in short, a slow burn classic. This three piece straddles the divide between stoner and doom to create a fuzzed up wall of mighty riffage and ball slapping beats. Tempos shift from a monolithic crawl to a bareback charge. There's a nod to classic Soundgarden at times and a touch of QOTSA. I'd also reference a nod towards 'Blues for the Red Sun' era Kyuss for some of the sheer prolapse inducing weight on offer here.

CORE OF THE EARTH - CURTAINS
The Denver, Colorado band is heavy. Heavy as fuck. Somewhat metal, somewhat doom, and very Melvins heavy as fuck, to be exact. The main reference point is still Houdini and Stoner Witch, but seeing how I rate those albums higher than any of the others in the Melvins' discography, it's not a complaint. Curtains is broken into three acts, with the first two focusing on a more conventional sound and the third exploring the more sonically tweaked."

GRAVEYARD DIRT - SHADOWS OF OLD GHOSTS
"Graveyard Dirt play traditional doom metal but with hints of sludge in the guitar sound as well as a few gestures to bands like My Dying Bride and Novembers Doom. Paul Leyden's vocals only amplify the mood as he moves from a laborious shout, for the heavier moments, to laying low and taking on a near spoken word approach for softer moments. Each song on this release has some serious lead work, even some great dual leads that are definitely not something you hear in every doom release that comes down the pipes. It's actually quite depressing that a band as advanced as Graveyard Dirt are just now releasing their first EP after forming originally fifteen years ago. One can only hope that we'll see more in the future, but that it won't take so long to hear something new from the band."

"The Heavy Water Experiments self titled album, is pure stoner rock. You can almost watch the dark and distorted music floating through the haze of a desolate and scorching desert. Their sound demonstrates deep knowledge of the history of rock n' roll, especially the psychedelic/progressive/stoner rock of the late 60s - early 70s. But don't think of them as revivalists. This is a band playing music beyond seasons, genres and influences. They are generously offering us one hour of true music from their soul, rock n' roll as it should be. Hypnotic, magical, sincere, gimmickless, with no studio tricks or electronic loops, so often used today to create "atmosphere"

"Compared to their debut, Circle the Wagons, Husky's certainly expanded their sound. While The Sea King still offers up plenty of dusty, Southern rock jams, there are also traces of straight forward rock and electronic fuzz n drone pyschedelia. Still, it's the semi-languid, sprawling tracks that make The Sea King an impressive follow-up. The band seems most comfortable settling into a steady groove and letting the instruments express themselves. There's not a lot of fancy playing, but there's plenty of deep playing."

Artwork by Brian Mercer. So if you took the angular, earthy percussive assault of Kylesa or Leviathan era Mastodon, threw in the stoner heft of High on Fire, the sorrowful dirges of Crowbar and a very slight hint of psychedelic doom like Rwake, Minsk or Samothrace then name the band after Ivan Dragos famous line from Rocky IV, you get Michigans If He Dies He Dies and their very impressive third album, an album which will make me seek out the prior two releases. The Rise. The Fall is 10 tracks of earthy, riff driven metal that crosses a number of genres from stoner doom, prog rock, Southern tinged sludge, traditional doom and post rock.

LORD FOWL - ENDLESS DYNAMITE
Features a cover of Thin Lizzy's 'Rocky'. Back in 2006, longtime New Haven, CT mainstays, Vechel Jaynes and Donny Freeman had a conversation over drinks. They wanted to play music like the stuff they heard when they were younger. As kids they were enthralled by the arena acts of the 70's (Cheap Trick, Queen, Kiss) and heavier underground acts such as Angelwitch and Motorhead, but also identified with the politics and ferocity of bands like The Clash and Black Flag. Adding the sounds of Motown and psychedelic protest they heard whilst in the womb, a decision was made - Lord Fowl was born.

MASTODON - CRACK THE SKYE (+DVD)
Includes a bonus DVD. This is the most daring of their four albums, its intricate story line playing out over multi-part songs that draw on 70s progressive rock, psychedelia and even country music. Mortality provides subtext and adds emotional resonance to the bands sci-fi lyrics: the suicide of drummer Brann Dailors sister Skye and the near-death from a fractured skull of guitarist Brent Hinds in 2007 shade the maze-like narrative. All figure into an epic album about transcending the limitations of time, space and the human body. The lyrics present a Tolkien-like fantasy involving astral travel, spirit-world trysts and Czarist Russia. Though less immediately visceral than its predecessors, "Crack the Skye" is denser, deeper and more emotionally transfixing

STARCHILD - BORN INTO ETERNITY
Twin Earth has seen the wisdom in releasing a new album by these Waycross, Georgia doomsters, and it's a step forward, while retaining the doom roots that have made them great. Viewing song titles like 'Rising Star,' 'Earthless,' and 'Born into Eternity' one might be forgiven for assuming that this was just another chapter in the Starchild saga, good as that may have been. But things are a bit different this time: The songs are shorter and the riffs are catchier - stonier if you will - while the music is still as heavy as the proverbial million pound shithammer.

WORKHORSE - BEASTS OF BURDEN
"The unholy union of Sleep and Molly Hatchet.... Trading in ominous heaviness for punks buzz-saw melodicism couched in metallic sound structures, Workhorse has managed to jump out of the rut of many of its peers. Instead of the dour stoicism of metal guys who mimic the faces favored by the gods of thunder, this band smiles on stage. Oh, sure singer/guitarist Randy Olinger sounds like he gargles with a low molar solution of sulfuric acid in the morning, and lead guitarist Jay Ditchen bears an uncanny resemblance to David Cross, right down to the goofy grin. But they both play their cutting, subtly innovative hard rock as though theyre having fun doing it. Maybe Workhorse is a bit of a misnomer, because these guys sure look like theyre having a blast."
